Probably the Right Brother to Ask
Date of Scene: 26 August 2020
Location: Upstairs - Red Cave
Synopsis: Tim arrives early for patrol and asked Jason for some advice.
Cast of Characters: Jason Todd, Tim Drake

Jason Todd has posed:
The location of Jay's layer in Park Row is sort of an open secret in the Bat Family. He hasn't sent out invites, but at the same time he hasn't told people to keep the hell away, mainly counting on his personality to keep away unwanted guests.

It's getting towards evening, and Jason is getting ready for the night's work loading rounds into magazines while watching the local news on his newly set up TV. A box of mostly untouched take-out sits nearby next to an almost empty bottle of beer. In all it was a regular day in the Red Cave for the family's literal murderhobo.

Tim Drake has posed:
Tim's arrival is heralded by the chirp of a proximity alarm. The "replacement" Robin, as Hood usually calls him, is in civvies. Getting towards evening isn't sundown quite yet and he's not particularly keen on wearing the suit out in the daylight, even fading daylight, if he can help it. Even for this area of town, though, Tim looks like a normal teenager... slightly ripped jeans, t-shirt, sneakers, slightly-stuffed backpack. It's not books and school stuff in his bag, however, but his costume and utility belt to change into in a bit. He's decided to swing back Hood's place prior to going out on patrol in a couple of hours. Check it out, also surprise Jay (for values of surprise), and maybe pick his brain about a couple of things.

He notes the sensors (of course he does) and the couple of cameras (hidden yes, impossible to see for someone who knows what to look for, no) and doesn't make a face at any of them... just casually moves to the door and knocks on it, even though he knows Jason knows he's there.

Jason Todd has posed:
When the proximity alarm pings the TV switches to the camera feed and Jason makes a face. "Guess it's that time," he says getting up and moving to the panel that'll unlock the door and more importantly disarm the layers of fatal traps that defend his little back alley hideout. "Come in, and go up the stairs to your left." he says over the intercom before moving to the upper door to slide back the four locks he has across it and opening it for Tim.

On the way upstairs Tim will pass through the garage, where Jason's bike, car and work bench are like the rest of the place it's pretty primitive compared to the Roost but it definitely has that Jason vibe.

Tim Drake has posed:
Tim follows the instructions, and once he's upstairs glances around Jay's place, shaking his head. "Is this decor 'murder hobo chic', because Rose's apartment? Totally looked like this," he snarks lightly, dropping his backpack against a wall out of the way. "How's it going, Jay? Hopefully patrol tonight isn't as 'fun' as it was for Dick and I the other night." He makes a face, and notices the magazines. Huh. Looks like Jason's definitely preparing for it //to// be that eventful.

Jason Todd has posed:
"It's a work in progress," Jason says as he leads the way to the living room, as he does he grabs a piece of paper on one of the shelves and flips it over, for a moment Tim can see a flash of a drawing some sort of samurai with a white streak in his hair? Jason moves past to the couch and nods to one of the chairs he dragged up here. "Have a seat. And Rose's place was way worse than this," he says with a touch of a smirk, as he gets back to loading his mag. "So, owls again?" he asks about the other night.

Tim Drake has posed:
"Yeah. Got jumped in the underground in Old Gotham. I'm just waiting for Bruce to tell us he's figured out that's where they are all coming from and we'll have to go down there in force." Tim grimaces. He //hates// the undercity. "They did a number on Nightwing, but Beacon was around, thankfully. I didn't want to have to half-tote Dick back up to Bristol with his guts hanging out." Too-casual in delivery not to be serious, but that sort of grim gallows humor typical of many of the Bats when stuff is bad. He doesn't take the bait on commenting on Rose's place, just lifts a brow. "Eh, true. She had holes in the walls."

"Speaking of Rose, I'm taking her to the fall gala." While some might consider that bragging, Tim actually looks... ambivalent. "Even went up to New York yesterday to get a custom JVD tux for me and one of a kind gown for her." And other things.

Jason Todd has posed:
There is a flicker of concern at Dick's condition before Beacon is mentioned, her healing was definitely coming in handy of late. "When it comes to take them out and whoever is behind them it's going to be an interesting day," Jason says with a bit of smirk. "Wonder if Bruce has figured out how we're going to have to deal with guys who know our secrets." Jason has ideas on that score, but then he always /has/ those ideas.

His brows raise about taking Rose to the gala. "Really? After how page six took shots at her at the mayor's thing? Gonna be some dead gossip columnists after that."

Tim Drake has posed:
"She didn't seem to care much about the gossip columns, but the Powers woman certainly pissed her off after," Tim shrugs, leaning against a wall and looking annoyed. "I figured the gala is ideal to make a point both to Rose and to the others that I'm not going to throw her aside blithely." He sighs. "Assuming I can figure out how to convince her to a spa day before the gala. Ms. Van Dyne had some suggestions on hair and everything, and pretty sure Rose isn't the 'relax and let some stranger muss with your head and hands' type." He snorts. "Oh, and I picked her up the Louboutins that I was instructed to so she can break them in. That's going to be great." He seems dubious of that last bit.

Jason Todd has posed:
There's a blank look about the shoes, "I don't even know what those are," Jason says, which was only partly true, he thought they might be shoes, but only by context clues.

As for sending Rose to the salon, he snerks, "Yeah, a place full of sharp things and chemicals and people touching Rose's hair, that's going to go greeeeat. Why do you care what society people think anyhow? They're useless if it wasn't for us, the rogues would have roasted and eaten the lot of them by now."

Tim Drake has posed:
"I don't, really," Tim shrugs, regarding the society folks. "And apparently, Louboutins are very expensive high heeled shoes. Don't look at me, I had no idea either, but here we are. I'm imagining her stabbing me with the heel of one at some point." He's only half-joking. "Have a custom plat and diamond bracelet being made for her too-- we both go up for fittings on the dress and tux next week, and hopefully it will be done by then."

"But yeah. The other families... I don't really care, other than having to deal with the same shit Bruce has been dodging for years. I figured I'd have a bit more before it started, but... apparently not." He wrinkles his nose. "Rose didn't take it well." That's a minor understatement. "At all. So it's less for them, and more... to show //her// I'm serious."

Jason Todd has posed:
"She could do it too," Jason says of Rose stabbing someone with the heels of her shoes. "And ah, I only know Manolo Blahnik when it comes to high-end ladies' shoes, don't ask." He says off-hand before nodding about the families and Rose.

"Doing it for her makes sense. I mean not to get all mushy and shit, but she's different around you, so, guess something has to be going right." Then Jason smile grows a little smug, "Anyhow, I'm sure your Rose-fu is strong by this point, but I might have an idea about the salon thing."

Tim Drake has posed:
"I'm all ears on that one. Your bullets-in-a-heart idea actually wasn't bad. She liked it. For Rose values of like." He shrugs before Jay can say anything. "Nonlethals. Taser rounds."

Jason Todd has posed:
There's a snort from Jason at the bit about the heart box. "Taser rounds? Man that's like saying you're taking your kid to Disneyland and it turns out it's Euro Disneyland," was that even still a thing? He wasn't sure. "Anyhow that one worked, huh?" Good to know."

He moves onto more pressing matters, "Anyhow the hair thing, tell her it's a mission, you heard the place might be dirty and you want her to check it out, recon only, oh and hey it's right before the gala so you can get yourself set while you're there." He says. "The weakness is Rose has a pretty good bullshit detector, but, I do know some salons that are fronts, so, toss her one of those to muddy the waters."

Tim Drake has posed:
Tim lifts a brow. "If I did that I'd definitely throw her at one of the actual fronts. I've been pretty meticulous about NOT lying to her. Half because I'd like her not to distrust me and the other because yeah, her bullshit detector is almost as good as Bruce's." He considers. "I mean I was thinking of just handing her my card and having her and Cassie, maybe a couple of the others, take a girl's day. But I don't know. Maybe your idea might be better. Or worse."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason finishes slotting rounds into his magazine before setting it down and rising from the couch, he moves to shelf and takes out a little plastic box, opens it and after a few seconds produces an honest to god index card and offers it to Tim.

"Mindy Trahn, runs heroin out the back of her salon, told she does a good job with hair too, might be your best option," he says. "As for if it is a good idea or not," he offers a shrug. "I have no clue when it comes to women, but maybe mix the two, send the girls down to the spa for the day, let them know they're there to check the place out but have some fun as well, team building or whatever. None of that is exactly lying."

Tim Drake has posed:
Tim takes the card. "That... could work out pretty well," Tim admits. "Everyone is happy and one less dealer off the street in the end. Sounds like a plan." He tucks the card into the front pocket of his backpack. "You're being fairly sanguine about this. I expected a lot more 'why don't you ask Dick' and probably at least a couple jabs at being your replacement." He gives Jay a once over. "So pod person or is there a reason you're in a less snarly mood lately?"

Jason Todd has posed:
"See? I'm a problem solver," Jason says when Tim takes the card, he moves back to his coffee table and slaps the mag into one of his pistols, keeping it aimed low and away from Tim as he does. "And you're going to ruin it by pointing it out, Replacement," Jason says of his better mood. "Anyhow it's none of your business."

He chambers a round and slide the pistol into its holster. "Anyhow, give me a sec to get my armour on, you can get changed in the bathroom and we'll get patrolling."
