Mission: Some Folks Have Bad AIM
Date of Scene: 28 August 2020
Location: Secret AIM Base, Outside of Vienna, Austria
Synopsis: Mission: Success. AIM beekeepers and MODOK are no match for the Outsiders! The data is downloaded, the backups destroyed, the macguffin is dispersed into space, and Cassie is over yellow-wearing goons with bad lasers and worse science.
Cast of Characters: Tim Drake, Jason Todd, Conner Kent, Hope Summers, Cassie Sandsmark

Tim Drake has posed:
The very nice new stealth plane Batman had gifted the Outsiders has come in handy as Messiah sets the aircraft down just outside what is the likely scanner range for the hidden AIM base. Red Robin stands as they land, grabbing ahold of one of the handgrips above with a gauntleted hand to keep steady. His eyes narrow behind his domino mask, though the others can't see that. His mouth draws into a tight line. Technically, he's the mission leader. So... let's lead.

"So, tonight, the team is stopping AIM from releasing their Magg Houghin Device. We're not... exactly sure what this device does, only that we need to destroy the prototype, download all the data regarding it, destroy THEIR copies of the data, and bring the information back to the Justice League."

He taps his left wrist. "Once we're inside, I'll head to their mainframe and begin the download, and then release a counter-virus back into the system to destroy the data." The screen pops up above his wrist, showing a small car-sized device. "This is the Magg Houghin Device. It's only a prototype, but if its activated we're pretty sure there will be a large loss of life involved. Superboy, Wonder Girl? You need to find this, and destroy it. Completely." He flicks through to another screen, showing a rough map of the base. "The virus I implant will handle most of the data, but there are two areas I suspect have air-gapped backups. We'll need to make sure those get destroyed as well." He glances at Messiah and Red Hood. "That's your job. And there's going to be a LOT of hostiles. They may be killers, but we aren't. Let's get in, get the mission handled, and get back home."

Jason Todd has posed:
Why the hell was Red Hood here? The answer was simple: practice. He learned on his world training tour if you fight the same sort of opponents all the time you get complacent so mixing it up with the famed 'Beekeepers' of AIM should shake things up a bit. Plus, he had to admit he was curious how Tim's downline in the great Bat Multi-level marketing scheme was looking in actual combat. If you called fighting a bunch of science nerds combat.

Getting up from his seat Jason flashes Tim a thumbs up. "Got it," he says, making sure his bag of explosives was handy before looking to Hope. "Guess it's time to find out if you shoot guns as well as you put them back together," he offers with a grin in his tone, a call back to their first meeting at the Roost.

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner might have been watching Hope's piloting most of the trip. For reasons. Yes, he was inside the plane, and that made sense because he is not radar-proof and AIM likely has the tech to detect flying humanoids.

That said, he was wondering if they are trying an infiltration thing. But Robin makes no mention of it, so he assumes it is a grab&smash thing instead. "What about the techies than build it? Shouldn't we also try to find them and make sure they go to jail? Or was that thing built somewhere else?"

In any case, he will follow Robin and kick down the door. Or whatever passes for a door in AIM's base.

Hope Summers has posed:
Hope smirks slightly over at Robin, miming a two-fingered salute as she starts to bring their craft in over the facility. "No killing the beekeepers. Noted." She's had no trouble flying the plane, comfortable and confident with each step of the process. Doing the Summers legacy proud.

"I've been shooting since I could hold a gun," she snorts to Jason, reaching back to pat the new gun that's hanging over the back of the pilot's seat. "Tests so far on this one have been pretty good."

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
"So... the League wants us to rob these guys for it?" Cassie wonders, with just a touch of that good old cynicism teenagers think they're so cool for coming up with it. It's not that she actually seems to /mind/, or anything, giving a shrug shortly after. -Just making sure-. "So smash and grab, except the grab's a download. Got it."

She too is in the plane, because it would be weird to be the one antisocial weirdo flying outside while everyone else rode. Also, she can ride in style, kick her feet up, and generally relax on the way there, instead of putting in the effort herself. Also? No concerns over picking bugs out of her hair. When they get close, she kicks up from her leisurely posture. Her getup is the usual 'athletic wear' costume that only sort of barely counts as one. She double checks the lasso, and then hops out with the others. Jason gets a sidelong glance, mostly just curious: she doesn't get the Batfamily newsletter, or anything, so she only really knows what's in the dossier.

Otherwise, forward march! Or float, whichever.

Tim Drake has posed:
"I'm pretty sure these techies are going to be everywhere we want to be. So, if they are still at the base, then yes, we're supposed to grab them and hand them over to justice." Red Robin says with a nod. "Infiltration only works so far once we start blowing things up. I need you guys to make the big noise so they ignore me while I'm breaking their computers." There's a slight grin that crosses his lips then. "Besides, Superboy, I know how much punching bad guys means to you, just try and leave a few for Wonder Girl. Sharing is caring, after all."

With that, he hops out the back of the plane onto the ground, scanning the area with his HUD. <<Comm check,>> he says into the communicators. <<I'll be heading in the side route and in through the roof down to the mainframe. The rest of you, feel free to kick a door or two in.>> He had shown them the maps, with rough guesses on where the mission items were likely to be. <<See you.>> He lopes off into the fading evening semi-dark, heading towards his infiltration point.

Jason Todd has posed:
There's a nod from Red Hood to Hope, "Sounds like we'll get on fine then," he says before checking out the gun in question. "Very nice. Energy weapon?" he asks, already heading for the door of the plane.

Outside he replies <<Coming in clear, Red Robin. Try not to get shot >>

Then he turns to Hope, "Garage work for us?" he says, pulling up the map on his helmet's HUD.

Conner Kent has posed:
"Eh, punching regular people in stupid outfits barely counts," points out Conner. Actually the mission is going to be drawing the attention away from the squishy guys. Which is fine, Cassie and he are pretty good at keeping the agro.

<<Comm check... yeah, works.>> He flies out, glancing back at Cassie. <<Want to do the first door kicking? For old times shake and all that,>> and ladies first, he is a gentleman. Sometimes.

Hope Summers has posed:
Hope gets the plane into position, then sets in a holding command as she slides out of the pilot's seat. "Garage sounds good," she nods, settling the gun against her shoulder as she makes her way down the ramp. Once she's out of the plan, she checks a readout on her forearm, flicking her thumb across the display to close the ramp and keep their ride hidden.

Once she's out of the plane, she falls automatically into step just to the side and behind Red Hood, guarding his back and keeping an eye out for any approaching trouble.

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
<< Hellooo.... >> That's Cassie's comm check, apparently.

"Uh, so are we just..." Yeah it's not much of a plan. But then again, when your job is 'big, loud distracting thing,' maybe overthinking things is similarly overated. She takes off into the air after Conner, scanning over the structure briefly, both visually and on her comm display with whatever kind of map intel they've got. << Thoughtful, >> she answers back, with a bit of a smirk. << OK, garage it is. It looks like things branch out from there a bit, so we can figure it out once we've got eyes on things. >>

And then, in she goes. There's a large loading door, and it's not conveniently sitting open with trucks unloading Evil Brand gadgets, so she does the obvious thing and breaks in. A normal sized door would be sort of anticlimatic, kicking wise. That said, this is a heavy, articulated metal curtain - like a... well, garage door, only more fortified. So it's not exactly kickable (it would probably bend inward: she instead goes for the bottom, hitting it hard enough to bend the lip up from the pavement for her hands to get a grip, and then starts hauling it upward.

Tim Drake has posed:
Red Robin sneaks around a pair of guards easily... it's not like they are hard to see in their bright yellow with those ridiculous helmets. Once he gets to the side of the building, he grapples up and onto the roof, moving low as he makes his way towards the ventilation intake. He swings inside, spider-climbing down until he reaches the bottom, then crawls on knees and elbows through the ventilation system, using his heads up display to compare to the mostly-accurate maps--

*#*#*#*#REEEEEEEEEROOOOOOOORRRRRRLLLLLLLREEEEEEEEEEE!*#*#*#* echoes through the base.

Well, that's an alarm. Seems like Cassie and Conner are on-schedule. Tim peers down through the grate into the computer mainframe room, seeing two Beekeepers there directly below him, both on alert and gesturing to each other as they talk, though he's a bit far to hear them.

Well, nothing for it. He silently lifts the grate, then drops down, flicking open his extendable staff as he falls, spinning it rapidly, cracking them both in the heads before he hits the ground, then sweeping one off his feet with a leg sweep, then tackling the other, pulling out a taser batarang and jabbing the tackled beekeeper with it, discharging it. He shudders and slumps to stillness, and Red Robin flicks the same to the other as he's trying to get up, the second charge discharging and dropping him.

<<I'm in. Hooking up to the computers now.>> He slides under the large main desk, plugging into the main computer system.

Jason Todd has posed:
There's two guards on the garage door, but they go down quickly to a pair of flung batarangs. Then it's to the door and well with the alarm sounding already, blowing it open.

BOOM!

The charges go scattering fragments of door around the garage, as stunned guards and beekeepers look up from rushing to wherever the alarm would have had them going. Red Hood hurls a couple of smoke grenades into the room to enhance the chaos and then ducks inside guns, up, as the guards begin to fire randomly through the smoke.

AIM not the best of combatants.

Conner Kent has posed:
While Cassie lifts the loading door, Conner slip-flies inside. He spots a few normal vehicles (do the evil nerds commute from nearby towns?) and so far no laser canons popping from the ceiling. But yes, two beekeepers show up and start firing laser blasts to him.

<<Hey, Hope. They have energy guns and all>>. The lasers are not powerful enough to really hurt him, but otherwise look like good tech. Conner flies to the closest shooter and pushes him against the wall, making sure he drops the gun. <<About how much protection offer these silly uniforms?>> He asks, to better gauge how hard he needs to hit them without breaking anything important.

Hope Summers has posed:
<<Heading for the backups now,>> Hope responds once Robin is in, dealing with the smoke through the simple expedient of pulling the cowl of that odd cape thing over her shoulders up to cover her mouth and nose. Visually, she doesn't seem to have any trouble - staying that step behind and to the side of Red Hood, she fires at the AIM scientists with steely calm.

It looks like the gun she fabricated is definitely an energy weapon of some sort, firing flashes of blue light with a satisfying PEW every time she pulls the trigger. Perhaps strangely, she doesn't seem to fire widely. Instead, she hits each scientist with a single shot to center mass.

Hopefully that means the energy is set to stun, right?

<<The uniforms are more for...science than fighting,>> she answers Conner. <<So as long as you're not a virus, you're probably getting through.>>

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
Cassie rises with the door, first under-hand hauling and then flipping her grip to push the slatted surface up far enough for the others to come in under it easily. She's vulnerable a moment like that since her arms are busy, but fortunately, Jason has it covered with the batarangs. Once everyone is clear, she swings under and lets the slats drop unceremoniously with a metallic clatter and scrape: they're probably not going back out the way they came in, and if it's anything like the -average- garage door, all her mishandling will leave it a bit jammed up for any exterior patrols that might follow them in.

Also doors are boring and there are dudes to punch! Well, maybe. They've already handled the ones in here.

<< Alright, I'm taking the upper hallway, figure you guys might want the high ground to fire from, I think it should connect through to the upper levels overlooking the main factory floor. >> If she's reading the map right. This time, it IS but a (mostly) normal door ahead, so she just kicks this one open and then crosses her bracered forearms arms as she's met by a barrage of fire. << Looks like they're already on alert. >>

Tim Drake has posed:
Red Robin pulls up his computer screen, fingers flying across it as he begins siphoning the data out of the computers. <<Download started.>> He checks the estimated time to finish. <<Ten minutes. There's a LOT of data here, and I'm grabbing all of it. Then I can dump the virus in.>>

Meanwhile, the beekeepers keep coming, shooting their laser and energy guns at Cassie, Conner, Jason, and Hope with abandon. Some are even pretty decent shots!

The main factory floor now has a dozen of them, all working to move the Magg Houghin to get it out! A large, vaguely humanoid form among them urges them to move quickly. "FASTER! NO MERE HUMAN CAN UNDERSTAND THE GREAT SCIENCE OF MODOK!" the face says from the belly of the hideous creature.

Jason Todd has posed:
Red Hood doesn't seem too worried if Hopes blasts stun or not, his bullets are definitely of the lethal sort even if they are aimed away from center mass, to wound instead of kill. << Roger that WG >> he says moving through the garage, coming up behind a beekeeper and slamming him into the wall before he nods to stairs to the upper levels for that vantage point Cassie had been talking about.

Above the factory Jason pops clips and reloads, before peering over the rail at the thing talking out of its stomach. << What the fuck is that? >> he says over comms. << Hope wanna shoot that thing? >>

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner shuts up when more and more armed goons (or are they genuine doctorate people - what a waste of talent) pour in shooting all kinds of high-tech guns. He stays behind to knock them around and give Hope and Jason time to reach their targets. <<Cassie, wait... don't go alon...>> Beat. <<Did you hear that? Sounded like super-villain monologue with loudspeakers, this way!>>

A couple blast doors get kicked aside because Conner cheats with tactile telekinesis. Then he is on the main factory floor. <<Oh, I see the device. And also a face-belly weirdo.>>

Hope Summers has posed:
<<More than I can possibly express,>> Hope answers Red Hood, wasting no time in firing away at MODOK. Because that's weird and disturbing so OBVIOUSLY the right response is to shoot it.

<<But,>> she points out, <<We've got a mission. Let the heavy hitters take on these guys, we've got computers to short out.>>

She picks up the pace then, breaking into a jog toward the hallway from her earlier map study.

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
<< I'm fine Conner. Going high, you can come in low. >>

Cassie flies down the hallway, deflecting a few shots and just barreling into and beyond the guys who were firing them, and then out onto the overlook she identified. While Jason takes a proper firing position, she doesn't hesitate to engage directly, unspooling her lasso before she vaults a small railing (hey, even AIM has to at least to make a little show of OSHA compliance) and sails out into the space above the... Mac Hogan? Or whatever the hell it was. And also the strange... erm, face-belly man?

That's a new one.

"Gross, dude," she says perfectly out loud, apparently unconcerned with MODOK's feelings. << Yeah, Hood, Hope, give us some heavy cover. Our priortiy is the still whatever it is macguffin. >> OH I GET IT. << Con, priority is smashing the thing, not the dude. Let's see how it holds up. >>

Because 'smash a delicate science thing' doesn't actually -sound- all that hard, but who knows how it might be shielded. She comes in above, does a loop to gain some altitude, and them power-bombs the thing from above, grasping her hands together and then putting her whole body and the speed of her dive behind a hammer-like blow.

Tim Drake has posed:
<<A //what// weirdo?>> Red Robin asks, that comment by Conner a record-scratch. Seven minutes. Good. It's speeding up, as Tim does a few tricks to try and bring the time to download down. Kneeling down by the desk, he sees a large yellow helmet walk by the door to the main computer room. He holds his breath... please don't look in, please don't look-- shit.

The door flings open and the yellow-cladd AIM goon lets out a shout of surprise, and without a better option, Red Robin yanks his arm out of his left gauntlet to leave the computer connected and downloading, springing to his feet and bringing his staff around to hit him once, twice, three times, and then a fourth to the gut, doubling him over. "I hope you're alone, buddy," he mutters.

Nope. Can't get that lucky. Tim barely manages to duck behind the desk as a flare of energy weapon blast comes his way. <<Welcome wagon has found me,>> he holds back swearing into the comms. <<Might be delayed.>>

Rolling out from behind the desk even as a trio of beekeepers finish entering with their guns drawn, Red Robin kicks the door closed behind them, slamming a birdarang into the lock and hitting a button as he does. The door lock sizzles as it melts.

"I'm not stuck in here with you," he notes out loud. "You're stuck in here with me."

Okay, it would be a LOT cooler if there were anyone to witness it, but there isn't. They fire, and he dives forward between them all, tanking one shot with his armor (ow, that actually stings) though the others miss. Then he's a whirl of staff, fist, and feet as he ducks and dodges, kicking one in the face hard enough his helmet is flipped backwards, cracking the second in the back of the knees with the staff, and punching the third in the solar plexus for openers. After knocking them out, he moves back to the computer on his gauntlet, sliding his back on his wrist. Five minutes.

Tim Drake has posed:
"FOOLS. ONLY MODOK CAN UNDERSTAND THIS GLORIOUS DEVICE!" MODOK screeches, a flickering psionic shield popping over the Magg Houghin. "YOUR PITIFUL INTELLECTS CANNOT COMPREHEND WHAT YOU ARE DOING! SHOOT THEM! SHOOT THEM!!!!"

And the AIM beekeepers in the room all focus their fire on Cassie and Conner as one, and far more... better aimed... than previously.

Jason Todd has posed:
<< This >> Jay snaps a picture of MODOK with his helmet lenses and fires it to Tim's HUD. Hopefully not distracting his little bro at a critical moment. As for the situation down below, he grabs the explosives and tosses them to Hope. "Take care of the back ups. I'll handle Cassie's cover fire," he shouts to her. As it was a trio of Beekeepers were coming up the stairs behind them. He turns, shooting the first in the knee, then kicking the second in the face sending him toppling into the third. Grabbing the first one's energy weapon, he crouches low and asks number one, "This thing to a stun setting?" he asks energy weapon aimed at the man's head. "T-the dial there, turn to S, you see it's very user frie-"

ZAT

The Beekeeper goes down.

ZAT ZAT.

So does his two friends.

Then Red Hood is rushing back to the walkways above the factory to provide covering fire.

Conner Kent has posed:
<<Yeah, you guys go do your stuff, we got this>> says Conner on the commsys. <<Or help Rob...>> he adds, hearing Tim difficulties. He is worried and about to go, but no... the device needs to go first.

Cassie is hitting it from above. So he flies low, ducking behind a large fabricator device to avoid the laser fire. Then he grabs said device, ripping it off the floor and throwing it at MODOK using both his raw strength and telekinesis so it hits at a decent speed. He is hoping belly-face is the one controlling the forcefield.

Hope Summers has posed:
Hope reaches out to catch the explosive, clipping it to her belt with one hand while keeping her gun up with the other. <<You still solid, Robin?>> she checks in, starting to jog down the hallway toward the backups. Away from the main chaos, it's a little quieter...but that's no excuse to take it easy. She keeps her gun up, her eyes sharp, so when she reaches a cross-corridor to find another squad of beekeeper goons on their way to help out, she's able to fire off several shots before they're even aware she's there.

Once they're all down, she detours to swipe a badge off of one of them, then continues down the hall.

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
Unfortunately, Cassie's death from above maneuver runs afoul of the psionic field: it doesn't just absorb the impact, but because it flares into existence a /around/ the object at some remove, the timing and distance of her entire attack ends up being off, with her elbows hitting the field mid-swing rather than her clasped fists and heavy metallic bracers. She bounces off, giving a yelp: "OW, the f-"

Language!

<< OK bigface looks like he's guarding it with some kind of shield, so I guess he goes down before it does. Unless your TK can mess with the field, Con? >> No clue there, for her, but at least psionics of one sort might have some luck where those of another fail. She's done with it for now, though, and refocuses on the big guy. Well, big face that is maybe a guy? Whatever.

She rises again, still hovering over the device, bats a stray zat away with her forearm (into another dude), and then whips the lasso out to a bit of a distance and starts giving it a spin. Electricity crackles down the length, and she aims the loop for-

Device? No, shielded, and way too big.

Mr. Face? ALSO weird kinda wrongly shaped for it. Hrm-

Ah! Finally, she spots something that looks promising, and flings the loop onto some sort of big metallic tube (who knows what it's for) then yanks back. The loop tightens, then she yanks the whole thing back toward her, causing the whole... whatever it is to come loose and fall, toward both MODOK and the device. The whole thing is charged at this point, and who knows- if she can make contact somewhere, maybe it will blow someone or SOMETHING out. "Timber!"

Tim Drake has posed:
<<All good.>> Red Robin's voice is terse over the comms, but that's normal. <<Three minutes and I can start upload. Gonna have to take an alternative route out than planned, though.>> He glances towards the slagged door controls, which are coming in handy as there are two beekeepers outside the door trying to get in with no success! <<Door had a little accident, but it's keeping some new friends on the outside.>> He's punchy, which Cassie and Conner might recognize as slightly worried, but he's not calling for backup, so he's probably good.

MODOK TK blasts at the inbound macguffin, trying to deflect it, but his blasts aren't as powerful as an annoyed Kryptonian's Throw (Heavy Objects) +skill. His consternation at being thwacked in the ...facestomach... is only made worse when he is thwopped on the... headtop?... man this guy has some weird anatomy... by a giant electrified metal doohickie.

Whoops.

"AUUUUGHHHHH!" he yells. "MODOK DID NOT FORESEE THIS!"

Jason Todd has posed:
ZAT ZAT ZAT

Red Hood moves and shoots keeping the Beekeepers busy as the others smash their way through things. He rolls out of the way of the electrified whatever it is falls and just for fun takes a shot at MODOK just to say he did.

<<Hope how's it looking on the back ups? Can break away if you need an extra set of- >> a Beekeeper emerges from a secret door, Red Hood ducks his attempt at a grab and slams his helmet with the butt of the energy weapon, breaking the tinted glass. A quick throw sends him to the factory floor. <<-hands >> he aims and fires off a couple more stun blasts at MODOK.

Conner Kent has posed:
"Hey, life is full of surprises!" Conner now charges at the device, hoping Mr. Head is too stunned to keep that forcefield strong enough. Sure, he takes a few laser blasts along the way. And there goes another perfectly stylish leather jacket, full of holes now, and burning. But he hits slams into the forcefield almost as supersonic speeds anyway.

Hope Summers has posed:
<<Almost there. So far, so good.>> Hope turns the last corner to where the backups are stored, swiping the stolen card to get into the room. Sometimes doing things the easy way is worth it. <<At the backups.>>

Closing the door behind herself, she drags a chair over to block the handle and give her a warning in case anyone else shows up. She slings the gun over her shoulder then, taking out the explosives to set the charges. <<Okay, Robin. Backup is set with charges. You good if I blow these now, or you need it to hold until you've got the goods on your end?>>

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
Cassie does like Conner: when their one-two throw-pull seems to have clobbered MODOK for the moment, she turns her attention back to the machine. No such thing as overkill here, as they want to make sure it's destroyed thoroughly and fast. So, second time like the first, from her hovering pose, she takes another go at dive-bombing the thing, whipping back the lasso before she does so it curls around her arm, giving her a bit of a bonus ELECTRO FIST.

NO SUCH THING AS OVERKILL OK?

<< Robin you OK back- wherever you are? You /sound/ just a little not-OK >> Cassie points out. << We're almost done here, should we plan our exit route in your direction? >>

Tim Drake has posed:
<<Blow them.>> Red Robin smirks at his wrist computer. The last minute is rushing by faster than a minute should! <<I'm about to start uploading the virus. I'm good, just gonna have to go out the way I came in, no big.>> Pause. <<Oh, and there's four guys trying to get in here, and I think one of them has a laser cutter, so I've got that going for me.>> Another pause, and he begins the upload as soon as the download says Complete.

<<I'm good though. They shouldn't be through until I'm back up in the vent.>> Probably. But look, they have bigger macguffins to smash.

Speaking of, Cassie and Conner's one-two-seven punch-smash-crackle (it's like a really dangerous Saturday morning cereal) seems to have done the trick, though the results may not be what they wanted.

A noxious green gas begins spilling from the broken container!

Jason Todd has posed:
<< Sure you don't want me to deal with them >> Red Hood says about the men outside Tim's door, even as he ZATs another Beekeeper.

Though the sudden green gas does make him re-think that offer. Even with the environmentally sealed mask that didn't look good.

<< Got some green gas here on the factory level, might be good if we clear the heck on out >>Hood recommends remembering what his trainer in toxins told him about some of the nastier contact chemicals could do to a person.

Conner Kent has posed:
<<Damnit, it was not a machine, it was a container,>> someone gave the League bad intel! "You gotta get the goons out of here, Wondy. Bellyhead too," states Conner. "I am going to try to contain this," which means touching the floor and the device and trying to wrap it in metal and concrete telekinetically before most of the gas escapes.

"It had to be green too. I am starting to dislike that color, you know?" He adds. Then shuts up because he doesn't want that thing in his lungs, whatever it is.

Hope Summers has posed:
<<Aye, aye, captain Robin.>> Hope readies her gun once more, moving the chair blocking the door out of the way and stepping back into the hall. Carefully, quietly, she closes the door back behind herself then jogs down the hall and around the corner. "Three. Two." And then she sets it off.

KABOOM!

<<Backups are blown,>> she announces cheerfully. <<Taking a shortcut back to the jet, I'll meet you all back there.>> And then she's off down another hallways, taking out a few more AIM goons along the way.

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
<< So this is not just twice in as many days that I've had to fight hordes of cookie-cutter high tech soldier guys in yellow suits >> Cassie grumbles into the comm as they complete the destruction of the gizmo only to face another complication. << But also twice in as many days that they've tried to goddesses damned /gas/ me. >> Coincidences abound! Though she does seem a bit peeved about it. << Con, can you *cough* contain->>

Fortunately SUPERBOY (its a cool name and she's not giving up on it!) is on it!

<< -thanks. Wait, I have to get the -goons-? >> She asks, incredulously. << I'm strong enough but, uh, there's a lot of them and I'd need like an industrial fishing net to carry them all. >> He could do it with the TK, but the TK is being used. Also: she sounds kind of dubious about saving all their asses? << The suits are containment gear, I think the ones that aren't shot up TOO BAD should be fine. Try and uh, vent? Shove? The gas somewhere. I'll grab Headzor the Magnificent, I guess.>>

Or she'll try, widening the lasso to the MOST EXTREME of lasso widths and tossing it around his... vague head-girth? But that's about all the effort she's making, before she flies ceiling-ward to punch open an escape route, perhaps dragging a head with her. Or not, NO BIGGY.

Tim Drake has posed:
His wrist computer chirps a trio of notes. <<Virus in.>> He disconnects, standing up and glancing over at the door, which is... glowing. Whoo, that's fun. He waves at the guys behind in through the window. "I believe in you, yellow goons," he snarks, then watches the computer screens as the mainframes go through a series of cascade crashes. He COULD be skittering out, but he's making damn sure the data is destroyed. <<Green gas sounds bad. Uh, how much are we talking?>> He glances up towards the open ceiling vent. Well, if the gas spreads, that routes going to be a no-go. One problem at a time.

Jason Todd has posed:
The AIM gun is slung on Jason's back as he replies << A lot >> he answers about the gas. << Unless we've got a way to vent it we should evac >> with or without the goons. Though for his part Red Hood grabs a pair of Beekeepers and drags them with him as he makes for the stairs back to the garage and ultimately the plane.

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner has no idea what the gas is. Or even if it is very toxic or not. Hell, it could be something biological. But he took a few minutes to make sure the broken Magg Houghin Device is wrapped up in several tons of compacted metal and concrete. <<Not sure. But it might be too much. You have the data about what this thing is, right? Because I think I am going to take it into orbit. Uh... if I can reach orbit. I have not tried since I got stabbed. I guess I better find out.>>

That containment thing is held together by telekinesis, so he can't exactly let it go.

Man, if it ends up being just harmless green smoke he is going to feel very silly.

Hope Summers has posed:
With the AIM facility buzzing like a kicked beehive and heading for the source of the distraction, Hope's escape goes pretty smoothly. A tap at her wrist and the ramp comes down to let her in, jogging up to the pilot's seat and making sure everything is still up and running. "There's my girl," she murmurs a little too fondly to the ship. Summerses.

<<Superboy, can you do the breath thing?>> she asks over the comms. <<You know, just...blow it out of there, disperse it?>> Leaning over, she checks a display for everyone's positions. <<Robin, if you can make it up here, we can sweep down and pick up the rest of the crew.>>

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
Up, up and away!

Technically that's not her line, but Cassie's borrowing it for the time being. Going up through the ceiling while swinging back and forth on the lasso is a bumpy ride for MODOK, for which she doesn't seem terribly contrite. She ends up hovering above the facility, and holds position there, since it sounds like Hope has already headed back for the Jet. Or that the jet is headed back for her, now! << I'm on, well, over the roof with the head, erm, guy, whatever it is. If you can get up here through your access system, I think we can nab you on the way out. >>

She holds that position- not just waiting for Robin, but just in case there's trouble. While it was fine to ride in style on the way over, if there's trouble, she's far more use outside the plane than on it.

Tim Drake has posed:
<<Dispersing it when we don't know what it is might be dangerous,>> Red Robin replies. He's quiet for a second. <<You got this, man. Get it out. Hope, I'm on my way up and out through the intake on the east side.>> He grapples up into the vent just as the door finally gives way and the AIM guys outside tromp in. He retraces his 'steps' through the vents and up and out through the intake, tumbling out onto the roof.

He looks up and gives Cassie a thumbs up when he spots her overhead, then taps his wrist computer to indicate he has the data.

Jason Todd has posed:
Red Hood comes out of the garage on one of AIM's high-tech jeeps, a few more Beekeepers zip tied in the back seat. He zooms out to the plane, leaving a beacon on the jeep to help the authorities find the AIM guys after the team bounces. He walks up the ramp on the plane, << On board our ride, good to go, Robin, move your ass >> he says good naturedly.

Conner Kent has posed:
<<I can't make the ice breath thing - it is silly anyway>> admits Conner. There is a big crunching sound as he pushes his improvised container device through the building floor. <<And I agree with Red. I am going to assume this is super-dangerous and toss it into space. It is going to take me like 20 minutes, so you guys get going back. I'll catch up.>>

Hope Summers has posed:
<<All right, I've got one Red Hood aboard, one Red Robin on the way, and two flying super-people ready to make an escape.>> Hope summarizes, buckling in and looking back over her shoulder. <<Wonder Girl, I'm not sure if the big head's going to fit in here.>> Or if he //should// for that matter, but that's a larger discussion. <<You good out there?>>

The engines start to whine, picking up power, and the cloaking flickers ever so slightly as she starts to engage the vertical take-off.

Tim Drake has posed:
<<Pop the back end open while you're above,>> Robin grins as he speaks into the comms, <<And I'll just grapple up. Wonder Girl, catch.>> He pulls a set of manacles out of his utility belt and hurls them up towards Cassie. <<Lock him up and drop him with his other sleepy friends. Hood, give a call over to the guys who said they'd pick up the mess, will you? And see you in 20 to 30, Conner.>> He's pleased. Successful mission!

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
<< I'm fine >> Cassie echoes back at Hope in a suitably chipper fashion. She flies places all the time, so being stuck outside isn't a particular hardship.

<< Might be a rough ride for 'Doc' >> LIKE MODOK?!! << Headington here, but I'm strangely OK with that >>

Still hovering, she reels the lasso in just a bit further so MODOK isn't dangling too far below - while it would be /funny/ to drag him along bumping into all kinds of random rooftops and other obstacles as she flew, it's probably not terribly practical, nor aerodynamic. Or... maybe she's not actually going to need to drag him?

<< Oh, I'm not dropping him off personally? >> Cassie wonders, sounding just a little disappointed. Still, she manages the bit of aerial acrobatics necessary to truss him up mid-air, and then takes a swoop past whatever drop-off site before rejoining the jet, landing in the back hatch like Robin did.
