Location: The Robin's Roost - Chelsea
Synopsis: Tim and Laura talk about the security breach.
Cast of Characters: Tim Drake, Laura Kinney

Tim Drake has posed:
After a rather eventful past 24 hours, it's getting into the evening and Tim had sent Laura a message he needed to speak with her in person as soon as she could make herself available. He's actually over in the "front" of his house when he gets the notice from the security system she's at the Roost, so he comes over through the second floor doors after sending her a message that's where he'll be.

He's still in the jeans and polo he had on earlier in the day, knuckles split and wrapped from a 'overly enthusiastic training session' the night before involving a heavy bag. However, unlike earlier, he's actually a lot more calm. Conner didn't want him handling this angrily, and had it been a few hours ago? It probably would be. Not to say he's happy-- far from it. His expression is grim as he leans back against one of the 'lobby' couches. He's just not punching walls. Well, bags.

Laura Kinney has posed:
Laura is one of the few, if not the only, person in the Outsiders who can as they say, 'read a room'. It goes along with the other failures of her traits in a social setting; but, slowly, certainly, she is making improvements. Like, the other night? She actually was able to, as they say, relax. And almost have what Gabby continually calls 'fun'.

She walks in, and moves to where Tim has instructed her he will be. Seeing him, she takes a few steps, nods sharply and greets him simply enough, "You wished to speak with me?"

Tim Drake has posed:
"Yeah. Needed to talk about last night, and some security issues." Tim sighs. "There were people here that aren't part of the team. We were just... hanging out. No masks. Friends... not teammates." He actually moves over to snag one of the chairs, sitting down, and offering her the seat across from him. Once she's seated, he cocks his head at her slightly. "Look, Conner told me... you didn't really have a lot of socialization. So I'm going to guess you aren't really great at splitting the mask from the face that wears it. But..." he frowns a bit. "It's really important that when we're not here, not in the base itself-- even if we're all together? We keep that separation. You never know who is listening."

Laura Kinney has posed:
Laura considers this, nods in agreement to Conner's assessment, and what Tim is stating. "He is correct. Until I escaped, my socialization was limited to training, combat scenarios, and mission related objectives and reports." There is a pause, and she continues, "I attempted to live with my mother's sister and her daughter, but that - did not go well. I could not acclimate. So I came here, and used money I had taken with me to find -- the one who I am cloned from."

She frowns, moving slowly over to face Tim more directly. "You wish me to keep both the team, and it's members, secret from my other contacts and associates." A nod, and then a severe look comes over her features. "I am sorry if I failed you in that. I misunderstood." She does not go into detail, not yet at least, where the misunderstanding stemmed from. To her, it's not important. What is important is that she failed Tim, who had put trust in her.

"It will not happen again." There is dead certainty in that.

Tim Drake has posed:
Tim nods. "Yeah. It needs to be a secret. Mostly because it can get people hurt. People who can't heal like you, or can't take a bullet like Conner or Cassie." He frowns a bit. "Some of the people around here make light of it. Don't worry-- you aren't the first to get a talk today and you're not going to be the last. Everyone is getting the reminder." He snorts. "And I think you're going to be the only one that's breaking it down that fast and that succinct. Which is actually a relief."

He considers her. "So. You know Stephanie's boyfriend." He holds up a hand. "I'm not asking about him, to be clear. Normally, I'll be honest with you-- I'm a Bat and I would, because we're nosy by nature. I can appreciate that it's often difficult to hold secrets about two groups of people from each other, especially when there's a sudden overlap and it seems safe. The only thing I can advise, is when in doubt? Always err on the side of keeping everyone's secrets. That's not just as your team leader, Laura. But it's advice as a friend about working with flighty, flawed people like the rest of us."

Laura Kinney has posed:
Laura doesn't show any relief of Tim's compliment of how fast she's breaking down her 'talking to'. Her expression doesn't change, still holding that severe look of deep intensity.

Again, she considers Tim's words, and she nods again. It does, afterall, make sense. "You have my word I will heed your advice going forward, Tim." Then, slowly, her features start to slacken and she looks away. Her voice does not change in that matter-of-fact means she has in speaking usually, but there is less intensity to it. "I will keep them separate. But I am not good at deception. I have been told I am very blunt."

Slowly, her eyes trek back to Tim, the severe look gone and something akin to regret in her features, now show. "You are the second group to - trust me. To try to help. And to give me some purpose. I do not want to risk that again. Or to lose that. If you need to discipline me, I understand, and accept." It is, afterall, how Laura had been taught, year over year, how failure is dealt with.

"I do not want other people being hurt. I am also not used to working with others who are not like myself, or others who have abilities such as those of Cassie." Already adhering to Tim's suggestion and not naming even Roberto, or someone else in her other group, or even Gabby. "I had not stopped to take that into consideration either. I told you I am - new - to working with any group. All my prior missions, and combat, have been solo. Until now."

She inhales, slowly, exhales. And then, nods. "I am ready."

Tim Drake has posed:
"Ready for punishment?" Tim blinks. "I mean... what... ground you?" He actually laughs a bit. "I mean, if you want some sort of amends made, find M'Gann and apologize. She had to clean up the mess last night, and she didn't like doing it." He sighs at that. "I mean, other than that? Keep focus. You know it might be a weakness because duplicity isn't in your nature. That's the only 'discipline' I intend on laying on you... discipline of self." He stands up. "You're on a team now. Maybe stick around here a few days and get accustomed to the comings and goings, and being around everyone. Nothing helps better than exposure."

"And we have some missions ahead of us." He grins a bit at that. "So I expect you'll be ready for them."

Laura Kinney has posed:
There is a first, at least for Tim. A genuine look of confusion - this, certainly, was not the disicpline Laura was expecting. Not that she was expecting Tim to do to her what Kimura might have - but, still, something, to ensure she learned her lesson and would not do it again. The confusion bleeds into, momentarily, relief, and then her usual, unexpressive look.

"Unless I am needed elsewehre, I will remain here a few days," she agrees. "To learn more." It is a sound idea.

She offers, "Someone has offered to teach me Bushido. They state it would help me with that very purpose. Disicpline of self. And finding of self. I plan to take them up on it." So, the 'punishment' is going to be handled as well, as far as she is concerned.

"I am always ready for any mission. All I need is a debriefing, and I will fight with, and for you. Whether it is direct combat, or infiltration and wetworks. I will look forward to proving my usefulness to you." Because, so far, the one mission she was on thus far was an abject failure in her eyes.

Tim Drake has posed:
"Infil yes, wetworks is something we try and avoid," he says dryly. "But appreciated. Go bother AHAB and make him fix you something, and settle in for the night. We'll see about getting some sparring going tomorrow." He stands up. "See you in the morning, Laura."

And with that, he makes he way back over to the doors leading to his house.
