Cast of Characters: Valeria Richards, Jason Todd

Valeria Richards has posed:
Stepping off the hyperloop into Gotham, Valeria Richards looks around and grins. It doesn't actually drop off in Gotham proper, circumventing the multi-island city by ending near the RK Memorial bridge heading south to Bleake Island. She's been here, at least, before, though never crossing the bridge south onto Bleake Island (or further). Gotham is said to be a dangerous place, worse than Hell's Kitchen or any of the roughest areas of the Bronx.

Dressed in what should pass for 'normal' clothing, as she has been extra informed of not only Bru--Batman's-- fiat decree of non-Bats working in Gotham, but that just being obviously a hero tends to draw attention from the insane collection of rogues that called Gotham home... while her unstable molecule suit is available in her bracelets, she's incredibly civilian today: navy blue leggings with silver shooting stars, a silver short tunic-dress cinched tightly around her slim waist with a stretchy navy belt, and boots! She actually does own some of those, though these are certainly more stylish than they are functional. She hops on the 'underrail' transport that rides underneath the RK Memorial from the Hyperloop down into Bleake island, frowning as she's jostled a little, but otherwise just pressing to the windows to enjoy the view of the water below.

Once she's reached the first of the Gotham City islands and is off the transport, she looks around, and...

Wow.

This place //is// a shithole. And this is the island closest to Bristol?

Still, undeterred, Valeria checks the time: just past midday, which means morning for Bats. She fires off a text. <<Hey, handsome. You never told me that this place LITERALLY has gargoyles on the buildings. I mean, it'd look nicer if someone took a pressure washer to the place.>> She takes a picture of one of the crumbling gothic buildings not far from the transport station, about a block from the underground railway, and sends it too.

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason almost doesn't hear the thwip of the texts arriving over the grinding guitars and heavy drums of Audioslave playing from an old stereo in the corner of his garage. He rolls out from under his car, wipes his hands on his coveralls before picking up his phone and having a look.

"Son of a..." he says once he's read the message stopping short when the picture follows shortly after.

<< Where are you right now? Bleake Island Station? >> he texts recognizing the view from the place in that picture. << Stay put and I can come get you >>.

He gets up, stripping his coveralls and getting his bike ready, pulling a new second helmet off the rack, this one entirely coincidentally a few shades shy of Fantastic Blue (tm) as he waits for a reply.

Valeria Richards has posed:
<<Uh... just left it, I'm following my GPS to some diner that said it had really good milkshakes on Yelp.>> Valeria uploads the address, which is a couple blocks away from the station. <<Do you want me to stay at the station or go there?>> She looks up from her phone for a moment, looking around the streets. She frowns a bit, leaving the text screen of her phone and tapping a few keys. The FantastiPhone shifts a bit in her hands, and takes an air sample. Wow. It's actually worse than New York, somehow. Gross.

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason checks the text as it thwips in. << Nah I know that place, meet you there >> he says before tucking his phone away in his pocket, mounting his bike and zooming out of his hideout to go meet her. Was he excited, worried or annoyed? Hard to tell, whichever it is he's getting there fast.

Valeria Richards has posed:
It doesn't take that long for Val to get to her diner, as she's used to walking around the city. Just... usually not THIS city. She leans on one of the walls outside the diner, still sending data on air quality back to her computer at Four Freedoms, muttering to herself under her breath. The slight low-hanging smog, which Gotham natives are used to having appear from time to time, actually has distracted her for a few minutes. Very annoying.

But this is the position she's in when Jason arrives, probably not too long from when she's settled in.

Jason Todd has posed:
Indeed it's not long before a red and black bike pulls up the curb engine revving noisily as the rider slides up the visor of his helmet and says, "Hey, what's a nice girl like you doing in a city like this?" amusement plain in his voice as he shuts off the engine and looks around. "And you want to be careful with your phone out like that, good way to lose it if you don't look up once in awhile."

Valeria Richards has posed:
Val stuffs her phone into her purse, looking over Jason and the motorcycle. "I would say I'm looking for trouble, but I think I found him," Valeria teases. "Did you want to go inside, or is this not a good place to be?" She doesn't look nervous about being in Gotham-- and she really isn't, but she's not dumb. Even if the stories are exaggerated, they have to have a kernal of truth.

Jason Todd has posed:
Stepping off the bike and removing his helmet, Jason grins, "You bet your ass you have," he says tucking the helmet under his arm and then eyeing the diner. "Nah this place is safe, plus milkshakes sound good right now." He steps onto the curb and leans down to press a kiss to Val's lips, smiling after it breaks, "So why the sudden trip to Gotham?" he asks. "Not that I mind." he leads the way to the diner and even holds the door open for Val as he does.

Valeria Richards has posed:
Returning his kiss lightly, Val then follows him in, looking around the diner with some small amusement on her face. It's no different, really, than any dozen just like it in New York or Metropolis. Well, except for the collection of Gotham Knights jerseys and newspaper clippings on one wall. She slides an arm around him as they wait to be pointed towards one of the cheaply-made booths at one of the tables covered in bumper stickers. "Mm. I mean, the why should be apparent to anyone with half a brain," she chides Jay lightly. "And you at least have that much." She leans up and steals a second kiss before they end up seated, and she pulls out the laminated menu to peer through. "But if you're wanting me to just say it, then you're the reason for my trip down here, of course."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason passes through the door and gives everyone inside a second look, having checked them out through the windows beforehand. There seems to be no obvious threats as he moves and sits across from Val, back towards the wall as he says, "Yeah I wanted to hear it," he says. "And half-a-brain? Your more generous than my family," he teases.

Then settled into the booth, he offers her a smile. "Good to see you by the way. How long do we have?"

Valeria Richards has posed:
"Mm, I don't know," Val shrugs. "At least until this evening when you leave for your shift." She may not be masked herself, but she's spent enough time around those who are to naturally shift into normal-sounding conversation regarding abnormal activities. "Maybe longer." She gives him a grin. "I'm glad to see you too. I didn't get much sleep last night."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason sets his helmet down on the bench beside him and reaches for a menu. "Is that right?" he says, smirk playing at the edge of his lips. "Something on your mind?" he asks about the missing sleep. "And cool, lots of time before I have to clock in for the night shift," he says falling easily into their seemingly mundane conversation."Oh and heard the same thing about family dinner, seems like it's really happening."

Valeria Richards has posed:
"I was suitably distracted from being able to sleep," Valeria replies with a short laugh. "And yeah. Um, I'm still sooo wanting to see your room either after dessert or in lieu of it," she gives him an abash yet wicked look.

When the waitress comes by to take their order, she does get a milkshake, and also onion rings, but nothing else. Once that's handled... "Don't let Uncle Johnny offer you any advice, though. Nothing good will come of it."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason continues to grin wickedly. "Oh? What was distracting you?" he says glancing up from the menu. He looks back when his room at the manor comes up but not before he drinks in that abashed and wicked look of Val's. "We can definitely make that happen," he promises glancing up again, amused.

Jason orders his own milkshake and says, "I'll steal some of hers," when it comes to food. "Dating advice, general advice or all of the above?"

Valeria Richards has posed:
"I mean yes? You've met him." Valeria points out with a Look. She flips back to the more interesting, to her, topic, though... "Mm, good. Not only am I wanting to be nosy, there is something delightfully terrible in the idea that eventually they will figure out we've slipped off." Because of course thats all any of this is about. "And as for distractions, I figure if I do stay until morning," she gives him an all too innocent look, "I can work on some of my projects using my phone, and if you choose to add other distractions while you're at work....

Jason Todd has posed:
As much as he hero worshiped Johnny when he'd been sent to study with Reed he had to admit there were better role models. Jason laughs, "Well, Bruce will figure it out right away, but he'll leave the others to figure it out on their own I'm sure. From what he told me the other day, he doesn't have a problem with what we're doing, not like your mom." Though on the subject of reactions he says, "I can't wait until Tim figures it out. It might break his brain."

The topic of distractions though proves... distracting. Jason chuckles lowly, "Damn, you're going to get me shot with that sort of thing on my mind," he says with a grin until he remembers their talk of the night before and he adds, "Not really," he says. "But yeah, I think we can make that work as long as your folks down't lock you up for being down here over night."

Valeria Richards has posed:
"I'm deciding how far I want to push my luck," Valeria says thoughtfully as a pair of milkshakes and a pile of onion rings are dropped off in front of them. She takes the strawberry shake and takes a long sip, watching Jason with the gears turning in her head. "You'd be distracted anyway, if the texts you've sent me are any indication," she teases.

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason takes the chocolate shake and takes a long sip. Yeah, Yelp was right these were good. He gives a nod of thanks to the guy working the counter before his attention turns back to Val. He raises a brow seeing how her expression gives away those turning gears. "Yeah, probably right," he says of the distraction. "Didn't used to be that way, I was about the job all day long," he says. "Not to steal your godfather's schtick but going to have to blame a Richards."

Valeria Richards has posed:
That earns a blush and a bright smile around the straw of the milkshake. Val slides the drink aside for a moment and peers at the onion rings, before taking the topmost one, breaking it in half, and then eating half of it. She is very purposefully not saying anything in response to that yet. Mostly because the only response she has are probably not that smart right now. Most of them are very... thing-like. Or at least edging that way.

Even though everything else about this has been, too. Though denial is absolutely the actual 'thing' right now.

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason blinks for a moment in that long, very charged silence, before asking "What?" brows furrowed but with a glint of mischief in his eyes as they do. He reaches over and steals the other half of Val's onion ring dipping it in the chocolate shake before munching away.

Valeria Richards has posed:
"Nothing," she lies, both easily and not entirely without tells. She breaks another of the onion rings, eating half and then takes a drink of her shake. "At least Godfather hasn't sent any Doombots to lecture you yet," she says in an undertone. She figures he'd at least START with a lecture before jumping right to something like disintegration.

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason's brows raise, "Does he know?" he asks her in a hushed voice like somehow Doom might be listening. Actually from what he heard about Doom it was possible. Badass vigilante or no, the last thing he wanted was Gotham knee deep in Doombots because of his sex life.

Valeria Richards has posed:
Valeria tilts her head consideringly. "Probably not," she decides. "I should probably tell him, mostly because if he hears it from me he'll know its okay, if he hears it somehow else he might get worse than Mom." She shrugs. "Its not a big deal." Doombots don't worry her after all. Or other people's disingrations if we're being honest. But that's another story.

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason takes a sip of his milkshake. "If you could let him know sooner rather than later, I'd appreciate it," he says trying not to think too hard about what 'worse than Sue' would look like from someone like Victor von Doom. Besides if Doom was going to take offense and try to kill him he'd prefer it to be sooner rather than later.

Valeria Richards has posed:
Valeria looks unconcerned. Of course she does. "I will poke my head in to see him later this week I guess." She is way too casual about this. Because of course she is.

"New negotiation... what do I get if I risk the wrath of Mom by staying in Gotham until tomorrow?" She settles back with her milkshake, grinning at Jason.

Jason Todd has posed:
"Yeah, do 'pop in'" Jason says, with a roll of his eyes. "Just the wrath of Doom we're talking about here."

He shakes his head at the offer of the new negotiation, but afterwards leans forward then beckons her over so he can whisper something in her ear.

Valeria Richards has posed:
The whispered suggestions turn her cheeks fiery red, her eyes darkening a little bit, obviously both embarrassed and intrigued. "...um. That... second bit? Can we do that... uhm. Before you... go in to work?" She is trying very hard to sound casual but...

Jason Todd has posed:
A broad grin crosses Jason's lips at Val's request, "Sure, if we finish up here quick there'll be time for that and a bit of 'heat leeching'" aka cuddling. "Before I have to go in. What do you think? Worth it for risking the wrath of Sue?" he asks.

Valeria Richards has posed:
"You are absolutely and utterly trouble," Val murmurs, taking another long drink of her milkshake. "And you like having your heat stolen," she points out, playfully accusing.

Jason Todd has posed:
"That was what you wanted right? Trouble with a side of annoying your parents?" Jason asks with a brow raises high. He laughs at the last part. "Maybe," he says. "Or at least I like that you like it."

Valeria Richards has posed:
Valeria makes a mock huffing sound, and then grins at him. "Then let's do it. Assuming you don't mind me seeing your dirty laundry and nine hundred takeout containers." She is ready to leave when he is, just a swing up to the front counter to pay off the milkshakes and rings.

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason grins and finishes his milkshake in one long slurping suck before he stands, collecting his motorcycle helmet. "Eight hundred, it was garbage day today," he deadpans at her, before meeting her at the counter and taking her outside to his waiting bike.
