Totally Not Hiding From Owls
Date of Scene: 03 September 2020
Location: Valeria's Room - Four Freedoms Plaza
Synopsis: Jay goes to New York to get some time away from Gotham and spend some time with Val. Things are discussed.
Cast of Characters: Jason Todd, Valeria Richards

Jason Todd has posed:
After the bit of day-side recon Jason and Tim had done, Jay was true to his word about getting out of Gotham for the night and so he headed up to New York. Partly because his guy, Melvin had five new jackets for him (he went through them quickly) but there was also Val. So, when a bag of stolen drug dealer cash is traded for the armour lined jackets, Jason piles them into the trunk of his car and pulls out his phone texting Val as the lights of New York come alive after sunset.

-> Hey in NYC. *picture of the top of Four Freedoms from somewhere in Midtown or maybe Hell's Kitchen definitely on the Hudson river side of things* Free tonight?

Valeria Richards has posed:
Valeria hurls a cracked crystal across her room in annoyance as her phone makes the fwip! noise that indicates Jason was texting her. Annoyed at the non-functional belt laying open on the desk. She opens up the text, and the annoyance turns to something less frustrated and more giddy.

-> Dad hasn't shut down my balcony yet. Want me to open it up?

And while she waits for a reply, she quickly steps into the bedroom side of her suite, scooping up a armload of laundry and tossing it in the basket, yanking the blankets on her bed to something half-made, then stepping into her bathroom to wash her face and run a brush through her hair. No reason.

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason's reply is almost immediate.

-> Sure. Can be there in like 10-15.

Then Jason is on the way, parking the car at some ridiculously expensive Midtown lot and being sure to pay for the whole night before making his way, wearing one of the new coats to Four Freedom's Plaza.

Another text is fired off,

-> Knock, knock.

Before Jason turns his phone to selfie mode and he checks to makes sure his post-recon shower had taken care of his helmet hair.

Valeria Richards has posed:
The window up near the top of the building where Valeria's window shifts and becomes a balcony, and Valeria steps out on it, glancing about and then dropping the anti-grav lift they had used last time, which slowly drops and lands before Jason. Val gestures a clear 'hurry', and steps back inside to leave more room for him to step in.

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason doesn't waste any time before he steps onto the lift and lets it carry him upwards. Once it's level with the balcony he hops off letting it land behind him, stepping inside Val's room so things could be closed up again.

Valeria Richards has posed:
Val hits the control for the window quickly, the balcony shifting back into a regular window. She then throws her arms around Jason's neck, leaning up to kiss him. She hasn't actually left her room today, save to slip out and grab lunch at some point from the kitchen, so she's still in bare feet and pajamas: a plain light blue tank top with long pajama bottoms in navy with a star field design on them. Pulling back after a moment, she grins. "I didn't think you would be up until tomorrow," she points out. Not that she is complaining, because she isn't.

Jason Todd has posed:
The kiss is eagerly returned and then as she pulls back he catches a look at her clothes and grins. "Catch you at bedtime?" he asks her.

"Wasn't planning on it but some stuff came up today that changed my schedule around. Figured I'd come get my jackets." he pinches the leather of his coat, brown instead of black. "And see if you didn't mind an early visit."

Valeria Richards has posed:
"Mm. I probably should be getting to bed soonish," Valeria says consideringly. "I've been working all day on my belt, and its giving me nothing but trouble." She frowns back in the direction of her desk, which has scattered pieces and parts all over it, along with a collection of various crystals and gems. She turns her attention back towards him. "But I'm always happy for an early visit, even if Mom might kill me." There's another kiss, this one more sweet.

Jason Todd has posed:
"More issues with the occluded crystals?" Jason asks about her belt. Yes he had actually been paying attention. "And bed does sound good, been a long day here too," he says earnestly despite the bit of mischief in his eyes when he's talking about bed. "Nah, she'll just ground you, it's me she'll kill," he says easily. "Or Ben, whoever gets me first."

He returns that kiss, brows quirking at the sweetness, but he doesn't protest and is happy to let that kiss linger a bit with the two of them framed by the lights of the city.

Valeria Richards has posed:
"Mm," Valeria grins as the kiss breaks, "yes, the crystals. If I could get synthetics to work I'd just fast grow some in antigravity to get exactly what I need, but for whatever reason those won't manifest at all. Instead I get imperfect manifestation from these natural, but occluded ones, and then they end up cracked when I expand the matrices." She huffs. "Its really irritating. I've been attempting to come up with a workaround but none of them suffice for a real fix." She stops, wrinkling her nose at him. "Sorry. You probably didn't risk clobberin' to listen to me ramble about quantum fields and force entanglement." Her arms are still around his neck, and she grins at him. "Long day? Is everything all right?"

Jason Todd has posed:
"Clobbering and forcefielding," Jason corrects more than happy to take all the credit for the various risks he's taking to be there. "And sounds complicated," he says about the belt. "Anywhere have the non-occluded crystals?" he asks her, knowing he was tempting more technospeak by asking and not really caring.

He rolls his neck, "Yeah, no worse than before, but sort of saw the 'face of the enemy'," he says. "These Owls are like some crazy death cult, Tim and I found their murder room today" or more likely one of their old ones. "Anyhow, just trying to keep my mind off of it."

Valeria Richards has posed:
Valeria blinks. "Murder room...?" She looks concerned. "Are you okay? Did they try and kill you?" He's obviously well enough to be here, but the questions are almost reflexive. "Do they kill people to turn them into the zombie Owls?" She kisses him quickly. "And is this why I can barely feel you through this jacket? Feels like there is armor poking me."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason gives Val's waist a squeeze, "Nah, nobody was there, but we found the room and saw the blood," he gives a little shrug. "I've seen some weird shit in Gotham but I don't know there was something messed up about that place."

There's a moment's thought about the idea of the room being part of making zombie owls. "Hadn't thought of that," he admits. "I'll bring it up with Bruce."

"And yeah, just making sure I'm ready for them when they come," he says about the jacket. "They know who we are Val, outside the masks, so it's going to be them or us, I don't see another way this thing ends."

Valeria Richards has posed:
"Of course you didn't think of it," Val replies with a tinge of her usual arrogance. Still, she starts unfastening his jacket. "How do they know? You've always managed to keep it secret before." Concern is clear on her face. "I don't think I'd be very happy," she gives him a wry look, "if they ended you. I'm selfish, and enjoying this way too much."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason's gives Val's arrogance a wry smirk, "Of course," he says before saying, "Best guess because that group's old as hell and has been watching since the start. They definitely know who Bruce is anyhow and from there it's not hard to figure out who the rest of us are." He frowns at the thought of them knowing. That combined with what Jason had seen today gave him an unfamiliar sensation: fear.

"Heh," he says of her not wanting to see the owls end him. "They won't, for all I know I'll just come back again." Looking at Val though, he adds. "I'm enjoying this too, so guess we're both selfish." He leans in to kiss her again, arms wrapped around her waist.

Valeria Richards has posed:
"I //don't// know you will come back again," Valeria says pointedly. She presses against him, returning his kiss. After it breaks, she leans her head against his shoulder, sighing softly. "I'm okay with selfish," she murmurs.

Jason Todd has posed:
Val's remark get's Jason's attention, especially its vehemence. Brows raising he says, "I'm sure there's other guys to piss your parents off with if not," he says, his eyes shifting to Val.

The kiss though is a welcome distraction, and like her he can live with selfish. He shrugs out of the jacket she'd undone, letting it fall to the floor. "I can definitely manage selfish tonight," he says.

Valeria Richards has posed:
Jason's comment gets an eye roll as she slips out of his arms for the jacket to come off. She steps over to the desk, flipping off a few of the small task lights and thinking about... well, she has dozens of tracks going in her prodigious mind at any given time. Just a few of them are slamming into the station at once and with very, very bad brakes.

"Yeah. Give me a few and I'll be in bed with you." Her tone is flat and unmodulated. Distant. Lost in thought. She isn't messing with anything on the desk though, so at least she's unlikely to be distracted by that.

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason kicks off his boots as Val starts flicking off lights, there's no missing that distant tone though. "Sure," he says, not questioning Val, counting on her to say what's on her mind as she always does. He takes off his shirt and pants leaving him in his boxer-briefs as he crawls into the hastily made bed and lays on his back, watching Val. curious.

Valeria Richards has posed:
Val idly tucks away a couple of her tools, something she can do with her hands without thinking while she focuses on what's going through her mind. Her chest feels a little tight, and she finally just takes a long breath and joins Jason over in the bed, handing her phone absently to one of the arms on the hydra-armed nightstand. She snuggles up beside him, giving him a light kiss. "You're probably not going out the front door tomorrow," she says quietly. "Not really up for a repeat." There are a couple of his larger scars she doesn't even have to search for, and her fingertips find them to trace them.

Jason Todd has posed:
"Handy," Jason says of the multiarmed nightstand before he flinches. "No pun intended, that's Dick's domain," he says as he shifts to let Val get comfortable beside him and return that kiss. "I'm fine with sneaking out. I get to see you sooner that way."

He can't help but notice how quickly she finds those scars. "You okay?" he asks her.

Valeria Richards has posed:
Val is quiet for a bit, obviously thinking carefully about something, even as her touch continues over his torso. She finally looks up at him, her eyes serious with a touch of fear in them.

"Jay?" she breathes out slowly, as if steadying herself. "This is a thing." Its not something either of them really had wanted to admit, and certainly wasn't the intention. But Valeria cannot deny empirical evidence. "...I..." she shakes her head, looking back down. "...if you're done, its fine." There is the flatness again, distance. Even still, she doesn't pull away from him, or stop touching him.

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason waits patiently for her to look at him and when she does he meets her eyes. "I know," he says of her admission. "I don't know how I feel about it or if it's a good idea, but I know I'm not done, I like this, and I like you. I don't know if that's enough, or if you want this to be a thing for me too, but, I am not done unless you ask me to go."

Valeria Richards has posed:
Valeria's heart skips a beat. Technically, she knows it doesn't, but it feels that way, and that's for the moment all that matters. She glances back up at Jason and gives him an amused half-smile. "I'm not even going to want you to go in the morning," she laughs softly. "Even though you'll have to." She sighs and then kisses him, gently and carefully. "Probably isn't a good idea. Space ticks and pits of life chemicals and Negative Zone alternate us or something will surely come from it, believe me I've been warned."

She kisses his shoulder. "I don't know how I feel about this either. And I don't want this to be done."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason wasn't sure what to expect from what he said, this was not his forte, his other lovers were far less complicated. They knew what they wanted. Though that was simpler, in a time where his life was already crazy he didn't feel like leaving. Brushing her lips with a kiss, he says, "I know that feeling, didn't want you to leave the cave the other morning." Indeed he used every dirty trick he knew to get her to stay just a bit longer. "Space ticks?" he asks, before changing his mind, "Actually I am not sure I want to know about that one."

There's a smile though as she kisses his shoulder and he begins to gently rub her back. "Glad we're on the same page," he kisses her shoulder in return. "So, shall we be selfish for a bit before we sleep?"

Valeria Richards has posed:
"I almost didn't leave," Valeria admits softly. "You made some very convincing arguments." She kisses him, and then again, more hungrily. "Very, very selfish," she agrees. "I don't want to sleep at all."
