Cast of Characters: Oliver Queen, Vanessa Carlysle

Oliver Queen has posed:
Queen Consolidated. The core of Oliver Queen's business dealings and also of the Queen family, inherited down from his late father and in the last few years having been a beacon of hope for Starling City.

Oliver has been rather busy as of late, devoted to spending a lot of time up at the office. Last floor. In truth though Vanessa knows him enough by now to be aware that he is also trying to drown himself in work to take his focus away from family problems. Queen drama so they say.. Apparently a falling out with his sister. He has been sparse about details but this late afternoon he invited Vanessa to come to the office. Stay a while, talk... Maybe dinner after. Just a bit of relaxing..

Of course that there is still a -lot- to get done. But he can manage, right?

WRONG. Or so Ellis thinks, his personal assistant. He has checked Oliver's schedule, things will be tight as they are now. And what's this? Meeting with a Vanessa Carlysle? Maybe a new girlfriend.. He was sort of proud about having been able to run a few away, or at least that's what he thought he had done..

And this new one, well, he would give no quarter. No sir! He was walking around the top floor with a tablet in hand, checking appointments, ready for when that elevator opened and whoever this woman was would step out.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Men joke about not being able to hide things from their girlfriends or wives. For poor Oliver that is especially true. While she has gained control enough of her power to copy someone when she wishes to, the amount of time and close contact with Oliver results in her tending to pick up even his new memories before very long. She rarely makes mention of it, but there are times that are reminders of it, when she is aware of something before he tells her about it.

Knowing how much time he was spending at work, and also the why of it, Vanessa had decided to inject a little break into his schedule. The elevator doors open for her and she steps out, wearing heels that click softly on the fine marble floors, and a black dress that fits to her figure. It's chosen specifically for the office environment, something that is appealing on her yet that doesn't cross any lines of being unsuitable for a place of business.

Vanessa walks over to where Ellis's desk is outside of Oliver's office with the glass walls that can be smoked to become opaque. "So you're Ellis," she says with a smile, not giving him a chance to start the conversation. "Oliver has mentioned you on a number of occasions. I hear you do a good job seeing to his needs and schedule," the brunette says as she looks at Ellis.

Oliver Queen has posed:
Ellis was ready. Oh yes, he had a speech all prepared on why this woman wouldn't be able to meet up with Oliver. Too busy you see? He even had the malicious smile prepared. In truth, he couldn't help it. He was quite competent but at the same time he is also *too* competent, the business and Oliver coming first. No distractions!

The high heels are heard, the tablet being put down. He was going to start with the silent treatment, let her wait some after the initial greeting and he opens his mouth to start before....

He stops midway of getting up from his chair, hands on the table and listening. "I am Mr. Queen's personal assistant, yes." calling him Ellis! The nerve! A brow arches smoothly as he tries to recover, "And he has? Thank you. It's quite true. I see to all Mr. Queen's needs here at the company."

"Who may I be speaking with?" He asks. There goes the opportunity for the silent treatment!

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa replies to Ellis with, "Vanessa is fine, no need for formalities," treating it as if he'd inquired how to address her rather than allowing the assumption he doesn't know who she is. "It would be best to keep the interruptions to a minimum for the next hour, though if there's a call about the joint research with Oscorp, that would probably be best to put through," she says.

Vanessa begins walking around Ellis' desk on her way towards the door to Oliver's office then. "We'll need two coffees. Oliver's black with a spoon of sugar as normal. Mine, double cream and a half spoon of sugar," she tells Ellis.

She continues towards the door, quite obviously planning to continue on through it after having delivered the set of commands as if expecting Ellis will know to follow them. Just who /is/ she?

Oliver Queen has posed:
"Very well.., Vanessa." Yes, there is a little pause there as Ellis looks at the woman in a thoughtful, studying manner.. Very different from the previous one ... He looks at his tablet again, as if he was checking the appointments.. But he knows well. Just an attempt on trying to put her on her 'place'. "Oliver is very busy right now---" Uh, how does she know about the joint research?! It makes him pause and blink. And that's just the opportunity for her to go around him to begin making way to the office.

He opens his mouth to complain. This isn't going according to the plan! But then what comes out is, "Of course. I will tell the secretary to begin preparing them..." and he should be the one that knows how Mr. Queen likes his coffee.

His eyes squint. Clearly he will have to up his game with this Vanessa Carlysle!

---

The door opens to reveal a Oliver Queen standing by the large wall windows that give a magnificent view of Starling City, hands behind his back, thoughtful. But at the sound of the door he turns to look at Vanessa.

"Hello, Vanessa. I am glad you could join me." His smile is genuine, even if a tired one.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa offers Ellis, a quiet, "Thank you, Ellis," that while delivered in her voice, uses the exact tone and inflection that Oliver would use in such a moment. She steps inside, closing the door behind her and the corners of her lips quirking up just slightly, pleased at how that went.

Though in truth the encounter with Oliver's assistant is forgotten when her eyes take in the sight of Oliver over at the window. She walks over to him, smiling and leaning in to give him a kiss, keeping it short since they are in his office, even with the glass steamed to opaqueness.

"I feel like I've spent so much time in here," she says with a soft laugh. "Because /someone/ certainly has been lately," she tells him. Her hands move to his shoulders, smoothing his jacket and brushing off his shoulders not that they need it. Just an excuse to touch him. "I thought if you felt it would be a help, I'd offer to help around here," she tells him. "I figure I know so much of what is going on, I could probably hit the ground sprinting already there. Knowing things you'd want done. Though I should probably be careful since there's always the chance I could be without some of that knowledge for spans of time."

Oliver Queen has posed:
The kiss is returned as always, Oliver's expression easing up when they share that closeness, one of his arms sliding about her to give her a brief hug before letting go. Eyes then return to the window before he pauses and asks. "Do you want something to drink? I can ask Ellis to bring us something.." he suggests, gesturing towards the table where the intercom is.

But then he can't help to laugh when she says she has spent such a long time here. "It's not only rolling on money to keep this going." He says with a sigh. "But this operation with Oscorp will be important, so I have been keeping myself around more these last few days." Not exactly the whole truth!

He considers her suggestion, to help around here. Lips press to a line. "That's actually an interesting idea. Secretary assistant, you think?" he turns to look at her directly now.

"Yet I need to ask you if you truly want to get into this type of business. It will not be easy."

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa glances back towards the door. "I wasn't going to let Ellis set the tone of our interaction. So I already ordered coffee for the two of us," she says with a bashful smile. "Should be around soon, I'd think."

Vanessa looks around the office, knowing it's her first time in here, yet knowing what's in each drawer and the computer password and how the files are arranged. Pretty much everything that hasn't changed in the last day or so that she wouldn't have picked up the memories of it from Oliver.

"Well, I have the knowledge of the company's CEO. And an understanding of your preferences, plans, and opinions of people, products. Everything. I mean, I saw Ted in hall and I could feel the level of approval you have in his work, without even thinking about it. So I could probably help out in far more impactful ways," she suggests. "Maybe handle a project you wish you had the time to do yourself? Because in a way it would be you doing it, long as, you know," she says, tapping her temple.

Oliver Queen has posed:
"Did you now?" That appears to amuse Oliver greatly. Because he can also imagine Ellis's reaction. A look is given to the door. And just in time as a knock is heard and after Oliver's positive response it opens to receive a surly Ellis that quietly makes way to the table and places both coffees there. With a sharp nod he then makes his way out. He may be borderline 'evil' but more than that he's professional!

Once they are alone again his attention is back on Vanessa even as he goes to get the two coffees, one offered to the woman. While she speaks he nods, in agreement really... They had gone through many of the limits on her powers so far. A laugh then finally comes, perhaps one he had been needing as of late. "I had thought on starting you easy. But very well..., if you want it." he says, looking thoughtful, hands brushing over his beard.

"I have been wanting to do a rework and restructure of the IT block here in the building but I just .., don't have the time to get down and talk with people." it's not hard to figure out from his memories what it is. Talking with those that work there, figuring out their needs, ways of improvement while increasing efficiency but also the quality of life of those working there. "Think it is something you'd want to do?"

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa turns towards the door as Ellis comes in after the knock. The smile that she gives him is merely approving, a smile for someone who has done his job well. Not giving any indication of any signs of satisfaction, nor even an appearance she'd given Ellis any thought since leaving his presence.

She takes the coffee that Oliver offers her, sipping it. A small nod is given, Ellis having made it right, no little rebellion of making it too sweet or not enough cream. She turns back to Oliver as he outlines the work he needs doing. "I'd be happy to work on that, sure," she tells him. "Should there be a situation I'm lacking knowledge for awhile we can always cover. Call in sick or some 'other assignment' for awhile, until I can get back with you and reacquire it. But as I access things, or experience them for myself, I'll retain them more anyway. So time spent on these jobs will help me hang on to knowledge, even should I, say, copy April again."

She moves over to glance out the window. "How are things with Thea?" she asks. She knows how they are, but then she's not asking to get information. She's asking to give Oliver a chance to talk about it.

Oliver Queen has posed:
"Then it's settled. We'll start you on that." A sigh then briefly escaping his lips, Oliver adding. "Of course that the office buzz buzz will be teeming with rumors for a bit, at least until you show how competent you are. So be ready for some ..., hostility." welcome to the corporate world, Vanessa!

And with that now set he casts a brief glance to the door. "So, is this your evil side?" he asks about that look she gave 'poor' Ellis. He *is* used to seeing the other side of her afterall! This one is new. "Can't say I don't like it." he takes a drink from his coffee, perhaps just content to enjoy some coffee with Vanessa when that last question comes...

He takes a moment to put the cup down. "We have always had our problems in the past, but this one was serious enough." he says. "We aren't really talking much." Or any at all. But sometimes that's just how things roll.. "I have always been too protective of her perhaps."

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa leans against Oliver's desk. She sips her coffee and his comment about office buzz seems to be thought provoking. "I can handle it, though... before you decide to say yes to me working here, probably worth considering the other way that gossip can go. If someone discovers my former occupation, Oliver? I would understand if you don't want to risk that coming to light. About the girl you're involved with, about someone you're employing and having carrying out the kind of work we're talking about."

She sighs and looks down. "I don't want to be the cause of bringing you harm. I can take people knowing. I learned how to handle that years ago. But, this is a different environment by far, and the impact for you could be far greater than I ever faced from some idiot's comments to me."

Vanessa looks back over to Oliver as he talks about the situation with Thea. "Think that talking to her about it would help with the situation?" she asks.

Oliver Queen has posed:
"It is part of who you were, and now your past." Oliver replies, mmm'ing in thought. "It may come out, but if you tell me you are fine with others knowing then it is just as fine by me." a faint smile now returning to his expression. "I am sure you will be able to gain them over with your natural charisma." he concludes.

"I think I am done trying to bottle down all the secrets, or not acting due to fear of what may happen." The archer then makes his way closer to Vanessa, resting a hand on her shoulder to bring her close, towards his chest. "So don't worry about me, I will be able to handle it. I have got a broad back for those comments too."

About Thea he nods slowly. "Maybe. She can be obstinate when she wants to so.., it will not be easy. Perhaps she needs her time." but the tightening on her jaw is telling that he may think someone else is responsible for this. Slade.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
As Oliver comes over to her, Vanessa gives in to the guidance of his touch. The softness of her body pressing in against his torso, the fine suit doing nothing to hide the firm, muscular build beneath. She nuzzles her face softly against his upper chest, her head just below his chin. His embrace always makes the moment better, and this is time is no different. Vanessa's hand slips around to hug herself deeper into his embrace.

"Alright. But if you find you need to let me go at some point, I will understand. You won't have to worry about not doing so to spare my feelings. I can happily stay at home, or find other things to do, if it would cause you problems. I'm offering to do this to help you, after all."

She moves her head then to be able to look up and meet the taller man's eyes as he talks of Thea. "Some time. But not too much," she agrees softly, the hand going to softly touch Oliver's face, another reminder she's there for him.

Oliver Queen has posed:
A shake of Oliver's head is the response to Vanessa speaking about letting her go. He says, "You will leave when and if you want to. Not by my hand. And no, this is a good idea." he states as if there will be no more room for doubt in it. It's decided! "And besides..." his eyes gaining a glint of mischievousness to them. "..We can both critique each other's work and improve with it. And that can turn out to be quite fun."

His arm easily slides about Vanessa's smaller form, keeping her there to him, eyes on eyes. "I thought we were getting to finally be brother and sister of a more normal kind, with the work on the club. But turns out there's always..., something.." life of a Queen! And of heroes too.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa gazes up into Oliver's eyes. "You had a lot happen to you, Oliver. And it wasn't easy coming back and sharing it all with everyone. It was dangerous, even. It may take her some time to realize that. But, I think you're right, with some time, she'll realize it's hurt over losing her father. Not so much at you. You didn't cause it," she says softly. "Just hearing that things went differently than she'd been told, it breaks those scars open again."

She goes up on her toes partially to touch a soft kiss to Oliver's lips. "Maybe we can all have dinner together this weekend? Maybe go out on a boat after and you guys can talk some?" she suggests. Another soft kiss is given. "What do you say we head home though?" she asks, having made sure she had the last appointment of Oliver's day. "I think you could use something to focus on besides work for awhile."
