Cast of Characters: Hank Pym, Vivian Vision, Jennifer Walters, Nadia Pym-van Dyne

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym is sitting out on his porch in front of stately Pym Manor in a brief break from lab work. He's on a timer that schedules his breaks now. It also tells him when to take his meds... ah bingo, anti-psychotics, always good washed down with non alcoholic beer. He finishes medicating and looks at his phone, willing time to pass faster so he can get back to work.

Then he sees two of his ants, one bearing several trash bags. The other marches over to a neighbor's car and lifts the back end for the first to throw the bags under. "Hey! Stop that! You know better! Put those in the proper receptacles. Be careful with that car! Bad ants! We talked about this before! Go on!" No headset but they know that tone and the gestures are pretty obvious. They move off with the bags chittering. "And glass goes in the blue pail! Paper in the green! You guys get me fined again and we're talking giant anteater!" Ah domestic bliss, till Nadia perfects cold fusion baking or discovers dating.

Vivian Vision has posed:
As it's a weekend and school isn't that far away the least Viv can do at such a testing time for the Pym family is stop by to help out with cooking and other household chores that're unsuitable for ants. In stark contrast to the organic members of the extended family she's meticulously neat and tidy in the kitchen, following recipies like they're programming scripts and not even thinking about weird molecular fusions or ways to make things explode. Intentionally or otherwise.

And so the entire house is filled with the aroma of oven roasting chicken breasts. Each stuffed with a little cheese, basil and some chopped sundried tomato. To the casual observer it looks like she's made a mountain of food but the calendar indicates company is expected. So there's an additional She-Hulk size portion. And hey if she overcaters any excess food can always go to the ants!

"I imagine your neighbors would be more alarmed by a Giant Anteater big enough to eat giant ants. Surely it'd need to be the size of an elephant..?" she calls from in the kitchen. Already busying herself by doing the washing up. By the time she's done cooking the place will probably be more spotless than when she started...

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jennifer pulls up to Hank's mansion, on time to meet him. She's got some news for him to hear. Not great news, but news that he should know about anyway. One hand holds a briefcase, and the other a box of Krispy Kremes. She makes her way to the front porch, and smiles at Hank.

"Hey Hank!" Jen says. "I'd give you a hug but my hands are pretty full. Here. These are for you." She hands him the box of donuts, which is usually a bad sign. She only brings donuts when she has bad news. "Dinner smells good, though! Who's doing the cooking?"

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym looks at Jen and the donuts. "I cracked your code. Dunkin' Donuts is neutral news. Krispy Kreme is some Fresh Hell and Tim Horton's requires us to summon the Justice League, Jennifer." He frowns at his own decryption breakthrough and takes the box from the jade giantess. Then he gives her an awkward one armed hug. Not awkward because it's his off hand so much as it's Hank Pym. The mamn who got excited about Janet giving him PDAs till he learned they stood for public demonstrations and not personal digital assistants. "Come inside. Vivian is cooking. It's safe... Nadia... is with the Titans. Let me get my phone and I can bring her home if she's needed." He opens the door and holds it for Jennifer, old school prep boy that he is. "May I offer you a beverage? An O'Doul's?"

Vivian Vision has posed:
"You should not ruin your appetite by eating donuts before a meal," Viv calls out from the kitchen. Leaning out of the doorway to wave. She's wearing an apron with a string of 0s and 1s that, if you can read binary, make a joke about silicon chips that's only really funny if you're an AI. "Miss Walters I hope you will stay for food. I have taken the liberty of preparing a portion for you." It's the least she can do after bombarding the Avengers number one lawyer with questions and suggestions.

It's almost as if Viv intentionally scheduled her visit to Doctor Pym to coincide with Jennifers visit. Probably because she did. Besides with Hank so stressed he probably isn't taking care of himself properly. So it's a win/win. She stays better informed and they don't subsist entirely on sugar coated fried dough.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
"You know me too well," says Jennifer squinching her face for being all too obvious. "O'Doul's would be lovely." To Jen, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beer is all the same to her. Even though she can taste the alcohol, she could drink gallons of the stuff and never get drunk, due to her gamma-irradiated physiology. So she doesn't have the same kind of bias most people might have against the non-alcoholic stuff.

She makes her way inside, sets the briefcase down next to the door and hangs up her coat. "She might want to hear this, but it'll probably be better coming from you than me, unless you need me to speak legalese to her."

"Hi Viv!" she calls out to the synthezoid. "I'll certainly stay for dinner. It smells /wonderful/. She heads over to the dining room table, which has already been set, and takes her seat at the guest chair. "Thanks for giving me all those files and suggestions. It was... a lot to go through." She waits for her host and hostess to sit before getting right down to business.

"So the situation is pretty much what I warned you would probably happen," Jen says. "You know that her citizenship is bound up by enough red tape you could strangle Fin Fang Foom with, because they found out about the Red Room. I don't think they know any details other than general 'shadowy Russian spy stuff.'" She pauses long to take a sip of 'beer.' "That's bad enough, but it really isn't that unusual. No, the real bad news is they're coming for you, Hank. They've stated that you, Hank, allegedly kidnapped your daughter, and under the Hague Convention, you need to give her back. They're working on a warrant to force you to release custody of her back to the Russian consulate so she can go back living with her alleged mother. This is going to be hard to fight because they've got the State Department on their side, and Interpol to issue a Red Notice."

Jennifer waits for this to settle in. "This is bad, Hank. We need to make our own claim that you have lawful custody, and maybe look into having Nadia claim asylum. Since the Attorney General is already hearing about the Red Room it may not be a far stretch to add in actual kidnapping and illegal experimentation to the mix and have that slow down the Russians."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Throughout all of this there has been passing street traffic, the normal sounds of suburban cars going by and as Jennifer Walters expounds on Hank's precious legal situation one might even miss some of those cars suddenly being not so normal, as a parade of black sedans with the markings of the US Federal Marshals Service comes down the street, three from each direction. Each group is also trailed by a SWAT van, likely a safety measure when dealing with powered individuals, as they surround the Pym Estate, eight vehicles in total. From the vehicles emerge a contingent of US Federal Marshals. One agent in particular approaches the front door while the others begin forming a perimenter, not that a perimeter would really be effective against Ant Man if he chose to escape but it's procedure.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym listens carefully and ponders this for a long moment then says, "I suddenly understand how you, Johnny, Ben and Sue felt when Reed tried to explain something to you. I didn't have this much heat on me when I was Yellowjacket and working for Egghead. So... when did I kidnap Nadia? I was being held by that Pymtron for several weeks. I have logs of my wormhole use. Before that, I was at the Avengers' mansion or a lab every flipping day or near enough. When did I do this? Could you, I realize they're just civil servants in the State Department, but could you... what the hell??" He catches sight of the flashing lights. His first thought is a mad grab for his helmet. "I need to call off the ants!" He settles it on his head. "Baudalaire, no. Down. NO!"

Vivian Vision has posed:
"And the Avengers security system logs clearly show that Doctor Pym was in his lab the entire time Nadia was being 'kidnapped'," Vivian points out earnestly. This fact probably was buried in one of her emails. Although Jen knows technically he wasn't in the lab at all. Still a locked room makes a pretty good alibi!

"I suggested that Doctor Pym get high resolution medical scans done, if SHIELD hasn't already, to look for traces of combat training in her bones." Breaks tend to leave a mark even with some types of healing factor! "Also if we can date the exact point she modified herself we can prove it was done in Russia!"

"I had also suggested asking Wonder Woman to use her lasso of truth on Great Aunt Nadia and then we can ask if she has ever met the women they claim is her mother. But Doctor Pym said that might not be valid in court...?" She sighs. "I still don't know why I can't just hack the  AttorneyGeneral and find out how the Red Room are sending them intel."

It's not the traffic which tips Viv off that something is up. It's the comms chatter. You can't get that many Federal agents in one place without someone being on a secured line. And with no way of knowing if they're friend or foe she does what comes natural. Instinctively begins decrypting it. As well as hacking any computers, smartphones or other improperly secured electronic devices.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
"You allegedly kidnapped Nadia during your stay in the Pymtron dimension," Jennifer informs Hank. "Which makes your alibi a bit harder to prove. 'Interdimensional travel' isn't something you can enter into the courts as of yet." She nods to Viv. "Those are excellent thoughts, and is something that I plan on fol-" she stops mid sentence when she sees the flashing lights.

"Okay," Jen says standing up. "Hank, I want you to cooperate fully with whoever is at the door. Remember, I am your legal council, so don't go anywhere with them unless they run it by me first. Same thing with if they want to come inside. They /have/ to have a warrant in order to do that, but they'll try to intimidate you into letting them in. And, of course don't tell them where Nadia is, other than 'not here.'" She smiles softly and squeezes Hank's shoulder reassuringly. "I've got your back."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Several of the Federally attached SWAT members move into position at the appearance of the giant ants, though the situation doesn't escalate once Hank calls them off. The agents however still maintain protective positioning to aid the head special agent should the situation worsen.

*Ding Dong* the doorbell rings, followed by several knocks and a raised voice, "Dr. Pym, my name is Special Agent Wilson with the US Marshals Service, please open the door."

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym nods. Then he grabs a donut on his way to the door. "I'm having a goddam donut at least. Uhm, Jennifer, tell Nadia she should seek some wisdom by watching that dvd of The Karate Kid. She only got ten minutes into it." He gives Jennifer a wink and then Vivian.

Hank opens the door and steps out looking a bit odd in a polo shirt, slacks and a cybernetic helmet. He's also sending a desperate message to the ants to stand down. The red ones really want to attack. Hanks swallows a mouthful of donut. "Good morning gentlemen and ladies. May I help you?" He shuts the door behind him, almost on Jennifer. His eyes are icy blue, analyzing. He removes the helmet and hands it to Jennifer.

Vivian Vision has posed:
"Please inform the 'officers' that everything they say and do is being recorded. And if they break any laws it'll be broadcast internationally," Vivian informs 'helpfully' from inside. Her eyes glowing as if she was on the verge of lasering someone. She doesn't move for the time being, content to insert herself into the flow of communications data. Find out what's going on and who is talking to who. Is that a crime? Quite possibly. But are they likely to be equipped to notice and/or stop a determined AI subtly hacking them? Probably not.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Takes the helmet and tucks it under her arm protectively and steps forward to introduce herself before the officer has any chance to reply to Hank.

"I am Dr. Pym's attorney, Jennifer Walters. I should should also inform you that this is being recorded to make sure that everything is done properly."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Agent Wilson is all serious, he was probably born serious, with a standard issue Federal Agent face. He is holding a stack of paperwork which is offered to Jennifer, "Everything is always done properly Ms. Walters. Please have some faith in the federal government whose laws you help uphold."

His attention shifts to Hank, "Dr. Pym we are going to have to ask you to come with us while we sort out matters related to this Hague Convention warrant that has been issued relating to the girl who has been cohabitating with you here and also among the Titans known as Nadia. There are contradictory stories and evidence and we would like to get to the bottom of it. We need your cooperation to do so. For the time being we are going to need to take you into custody. We realize you have the means to easily evade this and we are asking you not to for the good of all involved."

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jennifer takes the paperwork, and pulling out a pair of glasses, starts pouring over the documents. She rests a hand on Hank's shoulder before he can speak to keep him quiet.

"Agent Wilson. This is a warrant for the release of Nadia Trovaya. Nadia isn't here. I also do not see an arrest warrant for Dr. Pym so I advise him not to go with you." She looks up and folds her glasses away and hands the paperwork back to the agent. "If you have any questions Dr. Pym will be happy to answer them here."

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym nods to agent Wilson. "I will be happy to co-operate with the Federal government. We used to actually fight the Russians together at one time. One moment Agent Wilson. Just let me take care of one thing." The ants retreat further, away from the guns.

"Jen, I don't want to upset my neighbors with all this. Perhaps I should go with them to try to clear up matters?" They have warrants, he has a Hulk and this Hulk graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Vivian Vision has posed:
Vivian Vision applies a version of her holographic disguise on the off chance someone might try force their way inside (it also means she can peek out the window without worrying about being identified!). Something non-descript that she doesn't use elsewhere. But keeps her apron the same so Hank & Jen will know it's her. She devotes a portion of her attention to worming it's way deeper through whichever electronic channels are available. Making a map of the agents and their investigation, right down to seeing which route they took via the vehicles sat-nav records and where they stopped for cofee. She even gets some audio and visual scans of the assorted Agents. On the off chance she needs to spoof a call or make a holographic disguise.

"If you invite them in there is /no/ chicken for them." she notes brusquely. "Nor am I putting coffee on." Part of her also decides to send a full accounting to Janet so she can get her own personal high priced stable of lawyers involved.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jennifer nods, and backs down. "Okay. But I'm going with you, Hank." She turns to the federal agent, "As long as you don't mind?"

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Agents Wilson gives Hank a solemn nod, "Your cooperation is greatly appreciated citizen. There are those who want to escalate this, but I feel with time and due dilligence we can get to the bottom of this situation." He leads Hank and Jennifer back to a waiting car as a news chopper circles overhead.

Once everyone is inside the Federal Marshals, Hank, and She-Hulk depart together leaving the idyllic suburb of Cresskill peaceful once more, even as the news story explodes across the airwaves.
