The rest of the flight down from New York passed quietly, most of it involved sleeping then cuddling up and watching a movie while they had breakfast fit for something out of a five-star restaurant. The plane landed just after 11 in the morning, and by noon they were through customs and being hustled to another part of the airport where helicopter with the da Costa international logo painted on the side, and hopping in there before it took off and flies them across the city to somewhere down by the beach, giving them both a beautiful view of Rio from the air as they go.

Less than an hour later they're setting down on top of a tower with a view of the beach, ocean and mountains, all at once, Roberto leading Steph from the chopper with one hand while texting in English with the other, 'his father" he had explained earlier. Finished, he tucks his phone away, ducking low as the chopper takes off leaving them on the rooftop. When the roof is quiet enough to talk again, he says, "C'mon let's get downstairs and put our stuff away, then dad wants us at the club to meet everyone."

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Stephanie was surprised by the helicopter waiting for them. Perhaps she shouldn't have been, but then it probably says something of how she feels a comfortable sense of normalcy around Roberto from their time together in New York and Gotham.

The helicopter ride was spent with Stephanie looking out the window, grinning, asking Roberto what things were, and generally just gushing over how beautiful the city is. "Wow. Roberto," she'd said during the flight. "Just, just wow."

Stephanie had changed clothes in the airplane's cabin, whatever you call that thing that is so ahead of first class. Wanting to make a good first impression, she's dressed in slacks and a nice blouse. While they are flattering on her, they are not particularly revealing. Just conservative enough without being formal.

There are a few more seconds for taking in the breathtaking view and then Stephanie is following, squeezing Roberto's hand as he leads her through the large house to where they set out their clothes. Stephanie starts to hang them up, though if told there are people to do that, she leaves them. A quick check of her appearance, hand moving to her stomach as if to help settle butterflies. "Ok, ready," she says with a bit, hopeful smile.

Roberto da Costa has posed:
Roberto leads Steph down a set of winding stairs from the roof to the penthouse proper, a modern design with a lot of white walls and furnishings, which Roberto makes a face at but there's no beating the view off the terrace or through the many floor to ceiling windows. Ocean, mountains and sky are all visible from where they stand and it looks like by stepping out on the terrace, there's plenty of beach to be seen as well.

Roberto shows Steph to one of the guest rooms to put away her clothes, adding, "It's for show," he says. "Just us here, so you're welcome to come sleep in my room," he says before he slips off to get changed into something suited for the days events, returning in a cream coloured suit with a black button down underneath it.

"Sounds good," he says when Steph says she's ready to go, and he leads her downstairs, to the garage where they can pile into a British racing green Aston Martin for the drive out to the club.

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Stephanie finds herself glad she's had the experiences she has with the Wayne's, so she's not gaping as completely as she did, well, the first time she visited Wayne Manor. Though the style is so different, and those views? The girl from the lesser side of the tracks in Bristol still can't help but feel like she's stepped out of her life and into something else entirely.

But there's a constant there for her, and as Roberto comes back she smiles to him and leans in for a soft kiss. Then wipes at his lips as she's added a little makeup while he's gone. Not a lot, but it brings out her cheeks and her eyes even more than normal.

"Nice car," she comments. "If you told me it has James Bond additions to it I'd believe you. Though in my defense, sort of have been in cars that actually have those options," she say s while it's just the two of them.

Roberto da Costa has posed:
Roberto grins about the car as he steps on the gas a bit letting that engine purr, "No spy gadgets but now that you mention it, we'll have to get some added to our cars for that race, it looked like anything goes," he says, before he adds. "Oh, and I also bought that compact for you. I hope you don't mind, the owner said someone was looking at it so I got in there first," he says with a little shrug and a big smirk.

Berto winds his way through the traffic, heading for the beach front, but away from all the hustle and bustle of the touristy places and into a quieter part with more trees than concrete. "Anyhow, it'll be mostly the guys at the club today, and the older women, wedding's tomorrow, so that means the bride is getting pampered. I'm sure I could drop you off with them if you want to get your spa on, but if not you're good to hang with me. Oh and you can meet the two Carloses," he says with a grin before explaining. "Old Brazilian tradition that a guy has to tame a donkey before asking a girl to marry him, something about persistence and patience, anyhow, Francisco's dad is old school so he made Cisco do it, but of course Cisco being Cisco he named the thing Carlos, after his dad." He chuckles at that. "Forgot the donkey bit when I was explaining the customs last night, but that's about the weirdest one."

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Stephanie Brown's jaw drops open a little bit as Roberto mentions having bought the compact. That definitely gets to her more than the comments about arming their cars for the race. Which says something to how much it means to her. "You... wow. Thank you," she tells him with a soft smile. "You didn't have to, but I really do appreciate it," she says. "Even just getting around town, come winter, the bike gets awfully cold to be on," she tells Roberto. "Not to mention, I want to see what we can make of her!"

The blond turns sideways in her seat to hear the take of the Two Carlos's. "Tame a donkey. I'm... not quite sure what that's supposed to imply about a bride," she says, crossing her arms under her breasts to give Roberto a speculative gaze bordering on stink eye. Though there's that good-natured, playful light in her eyes as she does.

"Hmm. Why don't I stay with you for it? As much as I might enjoy the spa treatment, probably a better chance to get to know your family here, I'm guessing. So Cisco already took care of the donkey I guess?"

Roberto da Costa has posed:
Berto beams at Steph's response about the compact, he'd been a little worried he overstepped. "I know I didn't have to, but you really wanted it and I'm fabulously wealthy, it sort of worked out," he gives her a wink. "Got it at my cousins' place in Gotham right now, we can get her over to your place and get the paperwork handled when we get back."

Roberto lifts a hand in his defense, laughing, "I didn't make the custom!" he protests. "And cool, Hanging with us works, and yeah, he's got Carlos trained up, he'll be at the club, because only rich people can bring livestock to a country club and not have it be trashy."

Stephanie Brown has posed:
The news of the car is going to help keep that smile affixed to Stephanie's face for awhile. Definitely not overstepping. The Tinsley's of the world might be focused on the gift itself, though Stephanie's expression suggests she's thinking more about her boyfriend who took the time to do something he knew would make her feel good like this.

She rests a hand on his leg gently as he drives towards the club. "Well, yes, if it's not part of the family that kind of elevates it," she says of the livestock, shaking her head and laughing softly. "So how do you feel about his bride-to-be? You know her pretty well already, I gather, if the families are this connected? Have they been together for a long time? Think he'll be happy with her?" she asks. "I mean if not he's always got Carlos Jr he could fall back on. Or at least pack his things to move them out on. I suppose that's another positive to that tradition."

Roberto da Costa has posed:
Roberto is still beaming about the car as well, knowing he'd made Steph that happy with what was for him a pretty minor thing. Must be nice right?

"I've known Aline for awhile but not all that well, one of those family gathering acquaintances, you know people you see on holidays?" he says, "And then I didn't spend all my holidays down here either." Xaviers and all their drama had made it hard to leave, hell, it made it hard to /want/ to leave. "Anyhow she's alright if a bit of a drama queen, she's not a bad person just very extra." He grins. "She and Cisco have been dating since high school, one of those dramatic off-and-on things, but hey, it's been fun it's been our own personal family soap opera for years now." He snorts about the fall back plan. "I dunno, might be mean to Carlos Jr to stick him with my cousin like that."

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Soft laughter comes from Stephanie as Roberto sides with the donkey over his cousin in that pairing. "Well, long as they are happy. The three of them," she says with another gentle laugh. "I'm looking forward to meeting them," she says, giving Roberto's leg a little pat where her hand rests on it as he drives.

She leans forward to check out the view. She's rather expecting the club to be set somewhere beautiful, and it's not very likely that she's disappointed. "It's too bad you can't fly around openly here. It's just so incredibly gorgeous," she says with a shake of her head. "It makes Gotham feel... like something out of a vampire movie," she says.

A small, warm smirk follows. "Not that I don't love the girl. There's a lot of good people there. People who have persevered," she says quietly. Her eyes swing from the scenery back to Roberto. "Wish I had some cousins. Even, you know, a bratty little sister. Was pretty much just us growing up." And 'us' often meant, 'her'. "So are most of the branches of the family with a bunch of kids?" she asks. "Not meaning to stereotype the whole Catholic thing. But, ah... guess I'm stereotyping the whole Catholic thing," she says with a shrug and a grin asking forgiveness.

Roberto da Costa has posed:
The club does start coming into view now, there's a big wrought iron gate first, then a long wooded drive, "Nah, it won't be the three of them, we're totally eating Carlos at the reception," he says in deadpan at first before he cracks into a grin. "Nah, just joking, I think Cisco is going to keep him on the family grounds out in the country, should be a nice time."

Roberto nods, "Yeah, do feel the urge to fly more here than most places, and Gotham's cool in its way, I love some of the buildings there ot be honest, I mean it really owns its whole spooky vibe."

There's a warm chuckle from Roberto about the family thing, "You're mostly right, but my dad and I are only children, so, it's not true for everyone, but yeah the other branches are really big except for cousin Bea, she's another only child."

They pull up to the club and it's what you might expect white walled luxury right on the beach. Roberto pulls up to the entrance and hands the keys over to the valet as he gets out of the car, coming around to the other side to offer Stephanie a hand out as well.

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Stephanie is starting to gasp, though looking like she doesn't believe Carlos will be THAT featured at the reception, when Roberto confirms the joke. "So either you both turned out so good that they decided more weren't necessary. Or... the opposite can also get that reaction," Stephanie says, a curious raised eyebrow at the end turning it into more of a question than the statement it started out as.

She waits for Roberto to get her door, slipping her hand into his and rising from the car. The slacks are loose in the leg which suits the warmer weather, and doesn't hurt their style either. She gives Roberto's hand a soft squeeze as she looks at hte luxurious club. "Ok, totally got this," she says to him with a smile. "Boa noite," she says to herself, practicing her pronunciation for wishing someone a good evening. "Not that I'm going to try to speak too much Portuguese. But I figure, show that I'm learning?" she says.

Roberto da Costa has posed:
Roberto grins, leaning over to kiss her cheek at that bit of Portugese, "Good stuff," he says as he leads the way up towards the pair of double doors made of exotic wood, a doorman opens them for them and they step inside the air conditioned luxury of the club. "Mr. da Costa, your family is waiting in the north lounge," one of the hostesses says, and Roberto nods his thanks and leads the way up the stairs to the second floor and the waiting lounge.

It doesn't take them long to find the rest of Roberto's family, a group of well-dressed men and women occupying a long table by the windows, as Roberto approaches, people stand and come over, first Cisco, who shares a hug with Roberto before offering to shake Steph's hand, greeting her warmly, but giving her an appraising look. Cisco's brother comes next, and then more cousins, all shake hands and all seem to probe at Stephanie curiously with questions, like what Brown family is she from, the Metropolis Browns, or the Browns that own Brown-Forman Corp, the Central City Browns who own a big piece of Keystone motors, and so on, until a dark skinned man in a very expensive suit calls a halt to it all, "Come now let's leave Berto's guest be," he says as he steps forward arms spread to greet his son. "Berto welcome home," he says as he and Roberto embrace.

"Father," Roberto greets, guardedly before turning to Stephanie. "This is my girlfriend Stephanie Brown, from Gotham," he says.

Berto's father's dark eyes fix on Stephanie seeming to weigh and measure her against some counter balance of his own devising. "Miss Brown, it is a pleasure to meet you, how are you enjoying Brazil so far?"

Stephanie Brown has posed:
Stephanie stays near to Roberto, letting him start the introductions, though she shakes each person's hand, and returns light kisses to the cheeks of the women, having been prepared for the custom. She offers greetings in a few different forms in Portuguese, whether 'hello' or 'good evening' or 'a pleasure to meet you', though immediately switches back to English to say more lest anyone think she's indicating fluency.

The arrival of Roberto's father has Stephanie pause and watch as father and son greet each other. She can see the resemblance in their faces, much as she can tell Roberto is Nina's daughter. When the elder Da Costa comes over to focus her in his evaluating gaze and greets her, Stephanie keeps eye contact with him and says, "Boa noite, senhor Da Costa," she says, using a more formal address given their difference in age, and it being the first time meeting her boyfriend's father. "Brazil is like a beautiful jewel. The city is so beautiful, and so many extraordinary views," she tells him in English. "It is a pleasure to meet you, sir. Thank you for letting me attend your family's happy occasion," she says of the wedding.
