In Soviet Russia Information Investigates You!
Date of Scene: 23 September 2020
Location: Russian Consulate, NYC
Synopsis: Vivian visits the Russian Consulate, speaks with a political attache, and violates international law.
Cast of Characters: Nadia Pym-van Dyne, Vivian Vision

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Boris Ivanov is a busy man with a lot on his plate. As a special diplomatic attache currently assigned to the Russian Mission in the United States anything the Ambassador or Consuls find politically significant but ultimately do not want to deal with themselves winds up in his lap. To call him overworked would be a vast understatement.

So it is that even after leaving his office in the Consulate and returning to his room in the adjacent apartment complex for visiting Russian officials he is still typing away at his computer. It's all terribly exciting things like promoting the interests of the Vodka lobby or arranging meetings about natural gas import/export negotiations. Though at least that Hague Convention nonsense is behind him, that was the real headache.

Vivian Vision has posed:
It's taken days of planning for Vivian to reach this point. Observing the consulate, picking out the right room and waiting until her anger isn't driving her actions. Well not completely driving them anyway. It's still not exactly a heroic plan but desperate times..

Her route takes her out of sight of cameras, out of phase with the world and wrapped in a holographic camoflage field. All the way into the room of one Boris Ivanov. Her synthezoid senses reach out hunting for any poorly secured electronic devices.

And most importantly of all she slips a hologram around Boris. Nothing he sees will change, at least not at first, until one time he looks up and reflected in his window is the image of a teenage girl. A girl that doesn't seem to exist if he glances around to the room behind him.

"Good day Boris," a voice projected by Vivs holographic system whispers. "You've been paying visits to my family recently. I thought I'd save you any more trips and stop by. Have a little chat."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Boris glances down at the glass of vodka on the desk and then back at the strange apparition in the window. <<Clearly I am working to hard.>> He says in tired Russian and shuts down his computer. <<Adoption issue can wait till morning.>>

He seems to have dismissed the talking window girl as a fever dream of his overworked brain.

Vivian Vision has posed:
Viv shifts the audio volume up a little. So it'll seem like a voice is softly speaking just over his shoulder. "You've been receiving orders from some very bad people Boris. Dangerous people. And you've helped them kidnap a girl using a phony Hague warrant." The image in the window looks a little clearer. A little older too. Remarkably like you'd expect Maria Trovaya to look. Although in this image she seems a lot less healthy than the pictures created by the Red Room.

"And you're going to tell me everything about it."

A little holo-manipulation makes the vodka in the bottle seemingly start to turn a blood red hue.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Boris turns back towards the apparition, "You are either apparition of too much work or ghost, and I don't believe in ghosts, which leaves trespasser. If you are trespasser I suggest you leave before you cause international incident. No girl is kidnapped, girl is reunited with mother, case is closed." His exhaustion has left him with little patience for not-ghosts tonight.

Vivian Vision has posed:
The apparition looks just like Nadia's mother. Or at least how Vivian expects she would look after being dead for fifteen years. Something wormlike burrows under the skin. "A Mother who died long ago Boris," the voice says. "And we both know this wasn't a normal warrent. A case like this against an Avenger?" The voice makes a tutting noise. "You might drink a little too much Boris but I didn't think it'd made you a fool."

"Or perhaps you're working for them directly. A Red room asset in the consulate." Viv studies his reaction closely, frame by frame, looking for the slightest hint of recognition in his micro-expressions.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Boris doesn't seem to like whatever this is and he's frowning a low. The Diplomatic Corps includes training to resist things like interrogation, but this is some pretty freaky shit and he is starting to sweat a bit even as he follows protocal step by step. "She is not dead, I just had a meeting with her last week. Unless you have killed her in meantime? Warrant was legitimate from Hague Tribunal, even your so-called Avengers must obey laws and international agreements. If superhumans do whatever they please like you do now, this world is chaos. I know nothing about any Red Room, sometimes Green Room is used for TV appearances, but even America does that. Your words make no sense. Leave now and I be generous and not lodge formal complaint with your DEO."

There is no hint of recognition from Boris at the mention of the Red Room. By the look of things he believes wholeheartedly he is telling the truth and also seems to have a dislike for American interventionist policies, particularly where they relate to metahumans like the Avengers.

Vivian Vision has posed:
"Face to face? Or a video call? It's amazing what you can do with a computer program these days," Vivian points out, her voice distorted in the same way as in a particularly well reviewed horror movie. "But no, I haven't killed anyone." There is a very obvious unspoken 'yet'.

Under her holographic disguise the synthezoid scowls. Likely a dead end. The fact Boris doesn't seem to like superheroes is.. well not a surprise all things considered.

"Now don't worry Boris." Still speaking in the alarming horror voice. "The only thing I want is for you to do a tiny little favor for me. All you have to do is ring the girl and check she's settling in okay. Then tell whomever answers that her friends and family will be sure to come visit. If you're telling the truth and she's home safely then you don't have anything to worry about do you?"

"Of course the alternative is.. well lets just imagine for a moment what would happen if your bank account began receiving large cash payments and your computer sending out encrypted files to various foreign agencies. I'm sure someone will come to ask questions and you can try tell them..."

The holographic images she was showing him vanish. Leaving Boris in a seemingly empty room. "Perhaps they'll even believe you. Although I doubt the experience will be pleasant. Your country does have something of a deserved reputation in that regard."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Boris is growing aggitated, he does not like this situation, "That's it, I am calling security and DEO. Also Russian Embassy tactical response team for situations like this." He says as he picks up the phone on his desk, "I suggest you are gone before I finish making call or I will not be the one with things to worry about. You will be found and held accountable like all other super idiots that think they do whatever they want just because they have powers." The edge of fear is turning to anger now, he is not a happy Boris.

Vivian Vision has posed:
Vivian Vision laughs. The sound seemingly coming from all around the room and blended from more horror movie samples. "Oh Boris. No-one is prepared for a situation like this. There's no wall thick enough to keep me out. And you better pray that nothing happens to that girl. Because if it does my next visit will not be so friendly."

And with that the sound cuts out leaving Boris in an eerie silence.

Viv phases through the wall and drifts up into the sky. Finding a distant position to watch the reaction from in the hope that kicking the hornets nest will bring up a lead.
