Cast of Characters: Phoebe Beacon, Conner Kent

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe Beacon was good with plants, she had a knack for it, a regular green thumb -- augmented by her healing aura, no doubt.

After the Buredunia exchange, she seemed intent on making the rooftop a little greener. In that manner, she's started up with container planting. Easy enough to draw up some repourposed tubs, some potting soil, some plastic shields in case the Gotham weather gets crummy again -- as it does. Gotham always seems to be dreary.

The young woman was sans armor right now, wearing an old T-shirt that was tied in the back to expose her midriff and a pair of old jeans. Her hair was braided today, a careful Dutch braid that contained its frizzy, cottony nature and let it stay out of the way. She's got a pair of earbuds in, and was nodding as she works transferring a variety of brightly colored flowers from one of the many flats she had with her.

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner is there, sprawled between the two skylights and looking at the cloudy night sky. Rooftops are for thinking, didn't you know? Of course he usually does the thinking under sunlight, but in Gotham it remains elusive. And he didn't expect anyone else up here.

Except for the bioship, but the bioship is a quiet companion.

"Hey, Phoebe," he greets after realizing the girl has actually not seen him. Well, it is dark. "You sure about the plants? I mean, it is Gotham, you probably got acid rain."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Mm? Oh! Hey Conner." Phoebe states as she pops out her earbuds, and gives a bit of an embarrassed smile. "Sorry, did I miss the signups for rooftop time again?" she jokes, and she turns back to the colorful flowers. Late summer zinnias. Snapdragons. Mums. Astor.

"Well, yes, Gotham does get a bit of bad weather with the acid rain, but not any worse than New York. These are particularly hardy cultivars of some flowers -- and a couple of the ones I'm bringing are cuttings from my own garden at home."

Giving a slight smile over to the dark-haired Super boy, she motions.

"I... really only live a couple of blocks away from here. It's why I come over a lot after school."

Conner Kent has posed:
"Eh, singups?" Conner sits up. No leather jacket today, just the t-shirt with the red S. "New York has not acid rain," he was mostly poking fun at Gotham. Although he can believe Gotham has acid rain.

"That close, uh? Well, I am still in New York, but it is not far for me," he admits. "Just most evenings are busy. College is busy. I usually come here only the weekends."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"That close. My school's nearby, too. Just... a public school. Pretty sure Tim went to Gotham Academy." she states as she plants another couple of flowers in the box.

"... I think one of the reasons I was invited was because, in case of emergencies, I could be over in a few minutes. It's... it's nice, actually. To feel useful, even if I'm in reserve."

Conner Kent has posed:
"No, that is not why you were invited," replies Conner. "This team is not made for efficiency. We are here because we are friends. Or..." he frowns. Actually he is quite sure Tim barely knows Hope and Laura. And M'Gann came recommended from the League. Still, he is sure powersets is not the reason they exist. "Or maybe because we need to. I mean, I have known Tim, Cassie and Rose all my life. And Bart almost the same."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"... Tim stopped a gang from murdering me in cold blood." Phoebe replies quietly. "I was shot through the stomach, and he carried me out of a building to do first aid and save my life. That's when he found out about my healing powers." Phoebe turns to Conner, leaning against the tub with the colorful red and gold marigolds in them.

"Then I'm sure either he or Batman found out that there was someone going through homeless camps performing healing. He stopped me one night and told me that I had no business doing what I do."

She gives a smile. "And I told him I would do it anyway. After that -- I got an invite to show up to the ice breaker. Came by after I walked my dog."

Conner Kent has posed:
"And you are now here, where you can get the protection you need to keep doing your job," comments Conner, smiling. "And maybe some fighting training," he looks around briefly. "Have you seen Cassandra? That girl managed to ambush me. She is good. Sneaky. And cute as a button. I think she wants to teach us, but she is a bit odd."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Oh, well, I'm actually pretty skilled in aikido, Tim and I have sparred a couple times --" the healer replies quietly, and she gives a small smile. "aaaand I got some primers in combat from the Theymysciran Embassy. It's really not fun when your opponent can punt you onto the third story balcony." she gives a small smile as she looks to Conner.

"Cassandra..." she trails off a moment, then exhales, and rubs the back of her head, and her cheeks darken slightly. "Cassandra can be very sweet. I think she's working through some things. I haven't had the chance to train against her yet, but I look forward to the buttkicking and education I'm going to eventually get."

Conner Kent has posed:
"I hear it hurts less when delivered by friends," offers Conner with a smirk. "But hey, it is the life you have chosen. You could just go to a hospital to do your healings, you know. But the streets, and superhero groups, they are much more dangerous."

And he is not going to be able to protect her all the time. No one will. Conner still has flashbacks at seeing Deathstroke cut Laura's arms. Any other woman would have been crippled for life.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"I'll make sure I tell Tim that next time I get a dislocation." Phoebe chimes back to Conner, and she frowns a moment.

"No... no I couldn't. My healing ability is still unexplained. I don't know where I got it from, other than that it's not a mutation. If I were to go public with it, it puts me and my mom in danger. Be-besides, how many magical healers do their work in hospitals? They'd be burnt out. Can you imagine what hospitals would charge for magical healing treatments that can make any recent injury go away?" she frowns, and she takes off her gloves a sshe looks over to Conner.

"... I know I'm not part of the heavy hitters, and that's okay. I'll be happy with making sure you can keep on being the heavy hitter." she grins at Super Boy.
