Synopsis: Lara Croft accidentally summons Levian with an unknown artifact. They have a discussion and learn about each other, becoming friends???
Cast of Characters: Levian, Lara Croft

Levian has posed:
It's late, but that likely means nothing to someone as busy as Lara Croft. As she works on researching artifacts of currently unknown origin, but don't seem particularly special, it's a pretty relaxed and low stakes evening.

Until she rubs a smooth rock with some ancient carvings that seem almost-greek, but it's still difficult to translate.

The letters begin to slowly glow red, as if it's filling with energy, and the rock begins to shake, until suddenly all of the energy dissipates all at once... but nothing actually explodes, or gets pushed away, or anything.

No, instead, seemingly out of thin air, a body gets tossed halfway across her room, knocking over a stack of books until it hits her couch.

Levian groans, laying there in the pile of stuff, looking around. "What happened? That didn't feel like a summoning, I feel like someone pulled me through space..."

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara's job is to research and recover dangerous artifacts. Of which there are a lot of in this world, as it turns out. She'd come across this particular relic though a bit of contact chasing, and a small trip to garner it in a fairly sketchy location. Having brought it back to her flat in Greenwich Village, the young Brit sets in to examining it and researching what she can find about what she sees... in the good old internet.

Eventually she's lead to the gentle brushing moment, tracing the smoothed edges she noted across it, as though others have used this item in that same way before.

And then well, the flying body happens. The gathering of energies had Lara backing up and setting hte item down upon the table beside her desk. "Shit." She'd said a second before the body had flown past her and knocked her down to the ground in front of her desk. She puts her hands back behind her and raises her knees as she stares at the... man... groaning on the floor in front of her sofa.

Lara moves to stand up, bracing herself on her office chair. "Who. Are you?" Lara's voice suddenly asks of the man.

Levian has posed:
Levian slowly stands up, stretching and cracking his back. He has a black eye and some bandages over his nose, so clearly his injuries came before this odd situation.
"My name is Levian, 999th son of a demon lord I never met and don't know the name of." He looks below him, then around. "You forgot to form a circle to keep me trapped, but since Lucifer told me I have to stay out of trouble, I guess I'll hear you out anyway."

He sits on the couch, and immediately snaps his fingers, forming an ancient-looking parchment out of brief flames, with glowing red writing that appears in whatever is Lara Croft's native tongue. "This isn't really my specialty, but I'll hear out whatever kind of deal you want to make."

Lara Croft has posed:
Normally, such bold claims might get a scoff, or no small measur eof disbelief as to their truths, but what Levian does to showcase his honesty, is more than enough to display to Lara that he is what he says he is.

"I see..." The British woman says, back on her feet, she steps around her office chair to the table with the relic upon it that summoned him. "I'll admit that my Demonlogy skills are amateur at-best, but I'll take your words in to consideration for any future situations that might mirror this one..." She stands there now, beside her desk with her eyes upon him and his summoned scroll. "I didn't mean to summon you. It was an accident." She admints. "I'm a researcher for SHIELD. An archaeologist by trade, and this..." She picks up the 'idol' that brought him here. "Is how I accidentally brought you here." She holds it now in front of her stomach between both of her hands. "I... apologize. I can unsummon you, if you tell me how. If... that's even a possiblity."

Levian has posed:
Levian's third eye opens, and he seemingly stares at the wall. "I think you only summoned me about twenty feet." he observes, before looking at her with the third eye for a moment, then closes it again. It's difficult to see behind his bangs, but it's definitely a third eye.

He walks over to her, dismissing his contract into a poof of smoke, then he's staring down at the rock. "This comes from an Infernal magical language, but a bit butchered into... human? I don't really know what to call all of the human languages."

Squinting, he seems to be trying to understand it. "I think someone was trying to create an item that summons demons, but it just summons the closest demon to you. You probably shouldn't use that, it'll get you eaten. I don't eat humans, but a lot of them do."

He stares up at her from his hunched position, tilting his head. "SHIELD, like that angry woman's uniform. She reminds me of a demon but she's apparently human. I think they called her May."

Lara Croft has posed:
Needless to say, Lara's a little nervous when the man comes closer to her, because he's apparently not a man at all. He's a demon? He doesn't /look/ that threatening, but looks can be deceiving...

"I'll remember that." She says about not using the idol for fear that it might summon a much worse demonic presence than this ... person.

"You live in this building then?" She asks of him. How many odd people live in this apartment building? From the son of Ares, to Lara Croft, to a demon that doesn't eat people? It's quite the tenant list!

His summation of Agent May makes Lara know instantly who he's talking about, and it also causes a brief smile to touch the corners of her lips, but it fades fast. "Agent May is... very serious." Another glance is given down to the idol, then back up to him. "Now thatyou've told me what the purpose of this is though, it'll be entered into the database and put into safe storage. So it won't be used again, I assure you."

Levian has posed:
"I don't live anywhere, I'm new to Earth. I don't even know how you get one of these human holes. I like to call them human holes, even though it isn't the correct term. In some places in Hell, a Demon Lord has a castle, and then lesser demons live in holes on the side. I never had a hole, I just walk a lot." Levian starts to walk around her apartment, looking at things, mostly seeming curious about them, particularly her bookcases.

"Humans have so many books, and you don't have to steal them from someone powerful enough to have a castle." Then, looking over at her, he explains, "Lucifer gave me permission to stay on Earth after I was summoned here for the first time, about two weeks ago in Earth time. So I don't really know what anything is."

Lara Croft has posed:
Of course this is all rather fascinating to a woman like Lara, but also a little intimidating. "That... well that sounds rather dreadful." She speaks softly about the 'holes' in Hell. She keeps her eyes directly on him as he starts to walk about her apartment then. "You're brand new here, two weeks old, but you've... met Agent May?" Lara asks, slightly tilting her head to the left.

She glances to her phone on the desk a few steps away, but doesn't reach for it yet. Instead her reyes go back to the man, the demon.

"So you were walking around, exploring the city, when I drew you in here?" She has to get that part straight in her mind, for a variety of reasons. "What... is your goal here then, on Earth, amongst the living?" the Briton woman then asks.

Levian has posed:
"I think I'm a few hundred years in human ages, but I'm a very low level demon, I was never summoned until two weeks ago, yes. I think that was also an accident, but a different kind of accident." Levian pulls out a book with photos of dinosaur bones, and speculative images of dinosaurs, tilting his head. "I've never seen these before. I've seen things like these, but not exactly. Earth has strange history, things change a lot very quickly. Maybe because it's so small?"

"I'm not dead." he corrects, flipping through the pages of the book still, without looking up. "Oh, I know what you mean, sorry. I'm here because Earth is better than Hell. It doesn't quite feel like home, since I'm not surrounded by damned souls and don't have to fight and eat other demons constantly, but it's very pleasant."

He walks to the couch, then just reaches out to squeeze the cushion. "There are comfortable things, even if you don't have god level powers. Things smell good, you aren't going to suddenly grow wings and try to drain me of my life energy. It all gives me a feeling in my stomach... I call it anti-suffering."

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara remains beside her office chair, watching him wherever he goes. After all, he's a demon from Hell, in her private home in New York. "Forgive me, but you just said that Earth has a strange history, after announcing yourself as a creature from Hell who consumes other demonic creatures, and seemingly also has encounteres with a variety of them that are also... winged?" Lara slowly shakes her head. "I don't think you quite understand the full depth at how, unusual, that kind of history is here." She states with a smirk. "Dinosaurs have been extinct for nearly seventy million years. The world has... changed, since their reign."

At his manipulation of one of the pillows on her sofa, Lara faintly smirks for a moment. "I think you're describing comfort, or happiness. But yes. I do find it a little odd that you were accidentally summoned, twice, in the past week by SHIELD Agents. Those odds seem a bit unlikely, more like the emergence of a developing pattern."

Levian has posed:
"Oh, no, I was summoned before by some teenaged humans. But I met the woman who acts like a demon when they were trying to remove a necromancer's soul from a girl's body. It was a very complicated situation, but it's over now. Though I believe she wants to shoot me, I helped destroy the necromancer." Levian walks over to her after putting the book back where it was. "Nothing I say sounds strange to me. To me what's strange is that someone who isn't a demon lord has a bunch of books, no one is trying to raid your lair, and yet you don't appear to be anything other than human, nor a sorcerer from the way things sound."

He stares at her computer, though doesn't touch it, he mostly seems perplexed by it. "Many demons have wings. I was comparing you to a succubus, you look like one of them. They trap you easily. Some suck your soul, some eat your head. It kind of depends. Some prefer to be the thrall of a succubus than suffer for eternity. Personally, I decided to become a wizard, after I stole a grimoire from a demon lord."

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara's eyes are on him the entire time that he speaks, up until he says she looks like a succubus. That's when she looks down at herself, wearing a white long sleeve Henley-style tshirt, along with a pair of smoke-gray denim jeans and a pair of black hiking boots, Lara frowns at the insinuation that she'd look like one...

But never the less, her eyes bounce back up at the man. "I'm not a denom. I'm just a human. I don't have super powers, like some on Earth do, I'm not a mutant, nor any other kind of ... original element of the human evolutionary process. I'm just a woman, from another country. Far from here." She pauses for a moment before adding.

"I'm an explorer, by trade. If you're a wizard, then that's what I am in comparison. I explore the Earth, looking for answers to questions. Looking for items like--" Her hand motions to the idol.

"Like the one that brought you here tonight. This is my home, here in New York City. My apartment, as they call it here in the United States. I am sorry for summoning you, as well, I can show you the way out if you'd like to resume your wandering of the city."

Though should she? She'll have to tell her colleagues with WAND about this Demonic man... irregardless of what she does with him here and now.

Levian has posed:
"It's not your clothes, it's your face." Levian clarifies, when he notices her inspecting herself.

THen he starts to look up at her elaborate maps, photos, and papers. He doesn't touch //those// things, he doesn't seem to touch anything that he doesn't have an inherent familiarity with. The things that, at least from the look in his eyes, appear confusing.

"An explorer. I've seen humans break into hell before. There's a man, I've never seen him, I don't know if he's a real, and I would never say his name out loud. But he's said to be a human who tricked the lords of Hell." He says this in almost a whisper, hunching and looking around slightly. "Humans can be terrifying. They think in alien ways that aren't easy to predict. But I believe it may be a mutual feeling."

"I study fire. I don't know every kind of fire, but I study what it does, and the ways it can be interpreted. I can only use my own fire that I was born with, my mother was an elemental, and the fire I made spells for, that can only be found on Earth. I hope to learn about more kinds of fire though..."

He looks back over at her and suddenly smiles for some reason. "I think that might be what I am too. An explorer. I'm here, exploring this alien world. I know the languages, I hear humans talk, they come from everywhere. I don't know what you call all of the languages."

Lara Croft has posed:
In truth, Lara isn't sure what to do with this 'man' now. "I see." She says again to him here tonight. "I assume you cannot give me your name either, because what i know of demonology is that being in posession of one's name, would grant that person-- me in this case --more power over you than you're comfortable giving. Is that correct?" She asks him.

"My name is Lara, you're welcome to call me that. If you so desire." She motions then to the idol. "I promise you that I won't use this again to summon any other... further... demonic presences, yourself included. But. I can also say, that if you're interested in learning about this world, I'd suggest contacting SHIELD, I work for a division of that Agency that specializes in sorcery, alchemy and ... other... odd things. You'd fit right in." She shows a faint smirk for him then.

"I'm afraid I don't know a lot about fire, other than of the one variety that I've experinced enough of in my yet-still young life, but I can agree with you that human beings are quite dangerous. I've... well, lets just say that I've met many such humans who'd fit snugly into that catagory."

Levian has posed:
"I told you, my name is Levian, 999th son of a demon lord that I never met before. Certain demons inherently know their place in Hell. I can recite that because it is the most important thing about who I am. It is instinctive knowledge that I know." Levian then holds up a finger, however, and explains, "I have a true name, but a true name isn't the same as what a human considers to be a name. That is what I'm not telling you."

"SHIELD seems to do a lot of interesting things. Lucifer says I have to stay out of trouble, and SHIELD seems to stop trouble from happening." He raises a hand to lightly rub his chin. "I should probably learn more about how humans work before I join a human organization."

"I like to know what people want. I don't know if it's because of who I am, or instincts from my father's contract demon genes, but I have an inherent curiosity about human beings. And you aren't punching me or yelling at me, so..." He stares at her, literally opening his third eye. "What do you want most in life? Why do you do what you do? What do you think you'll find from your answers?"

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara does the 'ahhhh, right' nod as he reminds her of his title chosen alias. "Of course." She says. "I'm sorry, I'm not used to having... demons in my home." At the rest of what he says, Lara now decides to take a chance to move about some. She steps to her desk to gather up her phone, then she starts to walk toward the other side of her apartment, toward the kitchen area, passing him by as he continues to speak and ultimately asks her a few questions.

These questions make her suddenly smirk as she steps in to her kitchen between the counters and the island. "Ah, hmm, that's a complicated series of questions there." She tells him, placing her phone down on the island's top. "I want to make the world a safer place through my exploration of it. I'd say that's my primary want in life. I do what I do, because my father instilled in me his own passions for exploration and discovery. He was also an Archaeologist, a historian, and a lover of all things 'unknown'." She shows another faint smirk then as she faces him from the kitchen area now.

"As for what I'll find from what answers I can garner?" She asks. "Well, likely more questions, of course. That seems to be the one true commonality in what I do, from what experience I've had in exploration thus far. I'm still young, however. I have much learning yet to do. And an unending list of questions."

Levian has posed:
"The unknown." Levian repeats, following her over to the kitchen area, where he starts to sniff the air a bit. "That's what this place is. It's strange and unknown. I stood in a Target the other day, though no one was actually using anything as a target, it seemed more like a large market."

He shakes his head though, and comes back from his digression. "On the uh, television, I saw something called Mac and Me." He points to himself, then to her. "To me, you're Mac. A weird alien that does weird things. And now we're in this weird area of your human hole." He motions around, seeming a bit excited. "I don't really know what'll happen next."

Leaning against the counter, he just kind of watches her. "I've never been to Heaven, but Earth seems like a cross between Hell and what I hear about Heaven. Lots of good things happen, and lots of bad things happen. I wonder what you would have to destroy to make Earth safer."

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara reaches for the handle of her refrigerator and then pulls it open. She takes a moment to grab two bottles of water from it, then shuts the door and sets one down on the counter for him to take, while she twists the cap off of one for herself. She eyes her strange visitor as he talks about a movie she hasn't ever even heard of...

... and just smirks lightly at him. "I guess to me, you're Mac, yourself." She quietly replies on that matter. "And yes, Target is a marketplace, for all intents and purposes. There are many here in New York City. This is one of the largest cities on Earth, in fact. Manhattan alone has roughly ten million people living within a relatively tightly packed region of land, that being... everything between the two rivers... That being, exactly where you are right now."

She shows him another soft smile. "Levian, I wish I could help you more, but I'm not entirely sure how I could. You clearly have a wealth of experience needed before you're going to be comfortable in this world. I'd suggest finding a safe place to call a 'home' and not a 'human hole' as those two words together... well, they might get you in a bit of trouble if you go around randomly asking people if you can get inside theirs."

A smirk is shown, a little sip of her water is taken.

"Beyond that, I'd say to just keep doing what you're doing though. Avoid trouble, wander and observe. You're clearly intelligent, so you'll clearly learn and educate yourself quickly, the more you experience."

Levian has posed:
Levian takes the water bottle, then grips the cap with his teeth and yanks it off. He's polite enough to take the cap from his mouth and slip it into a pocket, then takes a drink. "It's so pure... I've been drinking a lot of water. I've heard of it since I was born. Real, Earth water. But this is even more pure, it's one of the most delicious drinks you have. It's no wonder damned souls cry out for it so often."

"Oh right." He looks her up and down, as if reminded. "I'm not sure where to live exactly. I slept on some metal stairs because this woman's tortured soul felt kind of like home, but then she woke up and punched me over a rail until I hit a car thing." He rubs his black eye, which is quite fresh.

"I should find a job. I'm still very young, a lesser demon. Demons like me are supposed to run around eating each other and dying quickly, we aren't supposed to think. We just wait for a demon lord to summon us and then follow the compulsion to obey." He crosses his arms in deep thought, staring up at her ceiling. "You gave me a new thing to explore."

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara is sipping her water and watching him as he bites the cap of his own and then spits it into his hand. She's glad he doesn't just spit it out on to the floor at least, but all the same it does make her ever so slightly tilt her head.

She keeps it curiously tilted at him as he speaks of his sleeping experience. "I wondered about your injuries." She says, noting the bandages and the black eye. "I'm sorry you've experienced that. The people in this city have dealt with a wide variety of threats, it's left them feeling a bit insecure about their own safety. "As for finding a job, well... look for stores, or markets, that have 'Now Hiring' signs up on their front windows. Usually those are indeed looking to bring an employee in. From there, well maybe you can get an income going and who knows, maybe you'll become an 'average New Yorker' over time."

She offers the demon a faint smile. "As for Demon Lords, well... if you do get a job, then you'll essentially be working for someone that you obey. It'll be wise not to refer to them as a Demon Lord though." She says with a smirk. "If you want to keep your job, at least."

Levian has posed:
"Don't worry, I'll know if they're a demon lord if I feel the sudden compulsion to obey their commands." Levian nods reassuringly, opening the fridge due to a lack of home etiquette. "Can I have more water from your food chest before I go?" he asks, looking over at her. "I'm trying to avoid Lucifer, but if I have to see him again, I'll try and trade one of these for power or rank."

"And it's okay. I also hurt my nose running into a magical barrier. I could heal myself, but I can't find anywhere to make a large fire, that won't actually hurt anyone or burn everything down. Earth is very flammable but in a bad way somehow." he says with a bit of an annoyed grunt.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara shows a faint smile at his request for more water. "Of course." She says then as she turns around to her cabinets to reach inside a small wooden box and pull out a plastic grocery bag. She unfurls it and then turns back to her fridge to open it up and grab four more bottles of water. She plces them inside of the bag and turns back toward him to offer it to him.

"I wish I could help with that, but I'm afraid I'm not sure where you could build a large fire either. I do know that there are places north of the city that burn some refuse to get rid of it. You might find luck there, but... that'd be a long trek, I imagine." she shows another faint smile to him.

"This is a very busy city, Levian, it has a lot of dangers to it. Try to stay safe, and if you do find that you need help, I suppose you could come back by here to ask me. I'd be happy to help if I'm capable of it. I wouldn't want you to get hurt any further than you already have been after all, as that isn't any way a tourist to New York should be treated." She once more smiles faintly for him then.

Levian has posed:
"I've never felt this treatment before. It's strange. It makes me feel a lot of things." Levian reaches for the bag, staring down at it. "I like you." he says very sincerely, and then snaps his fingers, making a parchment appear. This has a fairly standard-looking ritual, involving gathering particular ingredients, most of them fire related, throwing them //into// a fire, and then speaking one's greatest desire out loud after saying some words that are written phonetically in English, so it's difficult to tell what the actual language is.

"This is my summoning spell." He sits it on the kitchen counter. "No one has ever made me feel the way that you have, it is an unbelievably pleasurable feeling. So if you need me to come and burn or eat all of your enemies, just summon me."

Lara Croft has posed:
The parchement is looked over, pulled calmly toward her on the counter, and his words are listened to before Lara looks up to him and affords him a larger smile. "I'm glad to have been a positive experience for you in this world, Levian. To be honest, you're the nicest demon I've met thus far too, which is saying something, because... if you can believe it, I've had a few run-ins with them of late, and they were anything but nice."

Lara lightly pats the paper with her right hand's fingertips. "I'll take good care of this and keep it close, I promise." She then moves to step around the counter. "I'll show you the way out." She says, motioning for him to follow after her. "Keep exploring, keep learning, you'll discover there are a lot of good people in this world, even if there are bad ones as well."
