SHIIIIIELD AGEEEENT!
Date of Scene: 11 October 2020
Location: Rec and Res: Triskelion
Synopsis: Lolita gifts the Triskelion recreation lounge with a new multiplayer arcade game - SHIEEEEEELD AGEEEEEENT!
Cast of Characters: Gothic Lolita, Bobbi Morse, Mary Jane Watson, Mikhail Uriokovitch, Phil Coulson

Gothic Lolita has posed:
The rec room is where people go to relax, so it's not surprising there's a crowd of people, some chatting, some snacking, some reading, some watching TV or playing games.

What is unusual is the large box that is pushed up a wall. Box is probably overstating it...at this point, it's really just the sides of the box leaned up to hide what's happening on the other side, though the side facing out has a prominent tag pronouncing the interior contents to be fully vetted by SHIELD cybersecurity....as stuff doesn't get inside the facility unless it's triple checked. And then doublechecked again. From the date, it's been quite a while in the limbo of being vetted. But, since it's here, apparently it passed, according to the date stamp on the paperwork.

There's also a fluffy black skirt poking out with a pair of stocking-clad legs and strappy pumps that protrude from the box, as their owner messes with the contents. There's a plug that runs out of the area that is currently lying next to a nearby power socket, apparently meant to be plugged in at some point.

Bobbi Morse has posed:
Bobbi wanders in to the rec area. She stiffles a yawn with a hand over her mouth, then lifts her glasses to rub her tired eyes. "I can't believe it.. I actually miss being on leave." Wearing a lab coat with her name embroidered on the left breast pocket, she flops down on to the couch and opens up a packet of crisps to nom on.

"Hey Wednesday. What are you working on?" Boots go up on the coffee table, underneath the lab coat she's wearing casual SHIELD blacks - long sleeve top, pants, combat boots. Some habits are too hard to break. Her blonde hair is pulled back in to a pony tail but she looks tired. It must have been a long night in the biochemistry section of R&D.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Trainee Watson, or MJ, or Sonja as she's called in the field, wanders into the rec room, looking a bit tired. Of course, she's been hearing about the joys of paperwork and there's been a backlog. But, it's done and now she can finally relax...

And she blinks, looking at Gothic Lolita working on the box, though when she hears Agent Morse ask the question, she instead grins, grabbing a cup of coffee and waiting for the answer.

Mikhail Uriokovitch has posed:
Mikhail is taking a moment to be out of his room for once and makes his way to the rec area, still in t-shirt and sweatpants, mostly because he can. The large Russian is concerned by the large box, but the fact that Bobby and MJ are there gives him some relief, though he does ask, "Gothic what are you doing?" His voice betrays his concern.

The man takes a big swig out of the water bottle he is carrying. It is clear, as are its contents. He raises a brow, though, "I hope everything is all right?"

Gothic Lolita has posed:
5R    Lolita says, slightly muffled from behind the box. "A donation to the SHIELD recreational services. It took a bit of time to secure. But I didn't really have a lot to spend my salary on, and it seemed apropos." There's the sound of a panel shutting. "Security had to disassemble it however to check all the parts and the casing, so it took a little time to reassemble and make sure everything was working."

There's a pause. "Would you mind plugging it in, please? The plug is right over there." She doesn't seem to have anyone in mind, more like whoever happens to be closest and/or gets to the exposed plug first.

Bobbi Morse has posed:
There's a buzzing from Bobbi's thigh pocket and she takes out her table. Unfolding it, it's more work. She taps on that a few times. Then there's another buzz. Lance. A smile creeps on to her face and she happily replies to his text message. When Gothic asks someone to plug it in, she snaps her fingers and points at the wall socket, "Someone have at it."

More chips are shovelled in to her mouth and then she continues her conversation with Lance, <Oktoberfest was okay, I think I prefer the real thing in Munchen though. But, we didn't have to travel far for it at least>.

Bobbi looks up and smiles to MJ and Mikhail, "Hey - how is everybody? Feels like it's been a while since I've asked that question. Though, I suppose really that's Coulson's job. He's very good at people."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
MJ grins over at Bobbi, "Oh, pretty well, I guess... still trying to balance going to Julliard with being in SHIELD, so far so good." She chuckles, "Though, honestly, if you guys had warned me about the sheer amount of paperwork involved, I might have decided to do something a bit easier." Sure, she's fine with chasing down terrorists or beating up HYDRA... but paperwork? Ugh!

Teenagers.

Anywy, at Lolita's request, MJ reaches down and grabs the power plug, pushing it into the outlet, "Here you go, Wednesday. Hope this works!"

Phil Coulson has posed:
Speaking of Coulson, where is he? The answer to that is that he's entering through the door, hearing Bobbi's words. "Ah, but you will have to practice, then," he offers to her, sounding a little amused. Looking around a little, he grins momentarily as he hears MJ's talk about the paperwork. "Ah, but you only have a little of it, really," he offers, a bit lightly.
He pauses as he looks to the plug getting plugged in, waiting to see what this entire thing is.

Mikhail Uriokovitch has posed:
Mikhail listens and is mildly confused as he takes another drink. He is about to move to plug in the cord, but MJ beats him to it, and he has to ask, "So... what is it?" He inquires, before giving Coulson a polite nod, "Greetings, sir." The Russia is pretty relaxed, but whatever this is, it should be interesting.

Gothic Lolita has posed:
"Thank you, Agent Watson." Lolita says, before adding. "I would hope so, given the amount of time needed to repair it to working status." Lolita says, as she backs out of the box so she can straighten up gracefully, dusting at her skirt idly as she does. "As I said, it seemed apropos."

And as if she timed it (because she did, she reaches over and casually hefts the front box side and one of the side sections, other other side toppling over as she steps to the side to make a neat stack revealing....

(in a decidedly over the top Japanese English announcer voice)

    SHIIIIIIELD AGEEEEEENT!

Imagine, if you will, that at some point in the past, as a PR move, SHIELD granted a certain video game company a license to use their images in a game but neglected to closely watch what was being done with the license.

Imagine that that company then took soooo many, many over the top liberties with what they think life is like for a SHIELD agent. And created a game in the vein of Time Crisis/Silent Scope.

Now stick that in an oversized, ten foot long cabinet. There are five stations. Four are split in groups of two, with foot pedals and a plastic version of what looks like a standard SHIELD-issue rifle attached to the machine with a cable. This allows four people to play together as a SHIELD squad. But wait, there's more! The fifth station is different, in that it has a short barreled sniper rifle with the base tied to the machine, in which a fifth can provide sniper overwatch to the rest of the team.

Now consider just how many batshit crazy opponents SHIELD has had to fight over the years, dial that up to 11 in terms of over the top Japanese bizarre game story, and you have SHIELD AGENT.

There are rumors that Fury may have been hunting down these machines. Personally. It's just a rumor though.

And Lolita apparently blew several paychecks, making sure that this particular game was given a new home...in the Trisklelion rec room. Because she finds it immensely amusing.

Bobbi Morse has posed:
Bobbi grins as she hears Coulson's voice, "Coulson, good to see you." She sits up a little straighter and takes her feet off the coffee table. "You might be right. I hav... oh dear gods no not that thing." She says and jumps up off the couch. "Er. Perhaps this machine needs some.. ahem.. fashion updates."

Bobbi looks concerned.. could it be that Mockingbird in her old costume makes a cameo in it? she's not the only agent to fall victim to a runaway development team with no oversight. "Fury is going to confiscate this the moment he sees it." At least 'Mockingbird' is unidentifiable as Bobbi. Fury, most certainly recognisable as the face of SHIELD.

"Where did you even find this monstrosity Wednesday?," Bobbi asks and checks out the artwork on the sides of the box. "And who composed the theme song. blah blah blah blabla blahdiblah... really what kind of a super secret spy agency has a theme song."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
MJ glances over at Agent Coulson, "Ugh, /seriously/?" She sighs and sips her coffee, as if fortifying herself for the paperwork to come, then blinks at the machine that Lolita found.

"You have got to be kidding me... this is ridiculous." She laughs, and shakes her head, "I love it! Oh, this is too great!" Which might make her odds of becoming a full Agent a bit bleak, considering Morse and Coulson are /right there/.

Phil Coulson has posed:
Phil Coulson pauses as he sees that game machine, and there's clearly a few moments where he's just staring at it. "Is that... what I think it is?" he begins, shaking his head a bit slowly. "I thought they had managed to get rid of all of them."

Mikhail Uriokovitch has posed:
Mikhail watches what happens and just blinks as the announcer voice goes off. He is a bit dumbfounded, "Well I did not expect this!" He exclaims. He lets the others get a little closer to it before approaching, since he is a better window than a door.

"I like it," Mik notes as he examines it from his current position. It will be good to take edge of training, da?" He is not smiling, but he is clearly the happiest of agents.

Gothic Lolita has posed:
"It is a piece of SHIELD history...certainly worthy of preserving." Lolita says in a serious butter-wouldn't-melt-in-my-mouth sort of tone, even if there's a definite twinkle in her eyes. There does appear to be a character selection screen with lots of choices! "It would be a good teambuilding exercise with less serious stakes, I would think." She beams at Bobbi, then asides to Phil. "It was very difficult to track down the parts needed to get one working again. Luckily I have a great deal of free time when not on duty."

Bobbi Morse has posed:
Bobbi shakes her head to Mikhail and Gothic, "May be. Probably not. Have you ever seen how competitive agents from the Ops Academy are? especially the young ones. There's going to be serious competition on this game. /serious/. Mark my words, the battle for high score will be intense."

She shakes her head in dismay to Phil and shrugs her shoulders, "At least the pixel version of Mockingbird looks nothing like me. Did you end up in this game too?" Then again.. may be it's time for pranks... "But I suppose, if an agent can beat the game on expert mode without taking a shot, they can finally learn how Fury lost his eye."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
MJ grins at Lolita, "I have to admit, I'm horrible at these games. But I suspect there's not a sword-and-board option there." Well, maybe if they do a re-release for 2021 there'll be a Sonja in there, just for the kicks.

She glances over at Bobbi and nods, "Yeah, I can only imagine just how crazy it'll be. On the bright side, if you charge quarters for this that might help bankroll SHIELD for the next fiscal year." She's mostly joking. Really.

Phil Coulson has posed:
"I can see that. It's impressive that you actually managed to get hold of the parts," Coulson offers to Lolita, nodding a little. He frowns momentarily at Bobbi's words. "I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up in it," he replies. There's a chuckle at the part about the high score, though. "Let's just hope everyone manages to keep the intensity to the game, and not end up actually fighting each others to get the next crack at the high score." It's said a bit lightly, as he looks over to the game again, studying it carefully.

Mikhail Uriokovitch has posed:
Mik listens as the others speak, "Da, plenty of chances for showing one's skill..." he snorts in amusement and looks to Bobbi, "Well, then they shall be humbled." He nods and relaxes his posture as he takes another swig. "Fortunately I think I likely avoided being put into game, da?" He chuckles. "Though learning how the director lost his eye would be interesting stakes."

MJ and Coulson each get nods, "Quarters would be good way to fund it, but so would be making change for quarters." He taps his temple, "Though I am curious to see who will hold the title and for how long..."

Gothic Lolita has posed:
Lolita smiles at MJ. "It is a free game. For entertainment. It would be rude of me to charge fellow agents money for it, after all. I suppose it might be useful for repairs. Or maybe for a prize? The top high score of each month wins the total number of quarters used on the machine?" she says thoughtfully. "That would provide additional motivation rather than just bragging rights. Also for a repair fund, perhaps." She glances at PHil and Bobbi. "If that is allowable, of course."

Bobbi Morse has posed:
Bobbi raises an eyebrow and ponders, "I don't know. There may be a Russian bear in there as a villain." She winks teasingly and then looks back to the curse-d machine with trepidation. "Right well.. I should probably go first and set a low score so people can feel good about beating me."

She approaches with a small smirk and fishes in to her pocket for a quarter. "I don't see any problem with it. If you end up with too much money from it, buy some nice snacks for the cafeteria." She puts in a quarter and in character selection, she of course selects herself.

"It's been a long time since I've played this game." She takes up the sniper rifle and begins shooting the ninjas jumping over roof tops. "Oh dear. Games have come a long way since this was made."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
MJ grins at Bobbi, "But are you a bad enough dude to save the Director?" She snickers a bit, nodding at Lolita's comment, "Good to know, and good thinking really." She mmms, "So, if I get to be a full agent, do I get an avatar in the game?" Her eyes flash with amusement.

Phil Coulson has posed:
Unable to hold back a chuckle as he watches Bobbi move to the game, Coulson grins. "Interesting," he offers, a bit lightly as he looks between the others. "I don't know, maybe someone can add more characters to the game." Smiling as he listens to the rest of what's said. "I suspect this will make the room even more crowded when people have time for it."

Mikhail Uriokovitch has posed:
"If I am in game, that would be strange," Mik says, "But not unwelcome." He is clearly amused in his tone, but his face is still absent a smile. "Though I would make good villain," especially if they knew his old work, "But da, perhaps reward for high score is character in game?"

Gothic Lolita has posed:
"It would not be difficult to add new character sprites to the game." Lolita says curiously. "So if someone wanted to be in the game and I had their permission, I could certainly alter a game sprite to add to the roster." She looks curious. "Hmm. That does seems like an interesting victory reward."

Bobbi Morse has posed:
Bobbi smirks, "Yup. That'd be a good reward. And customising it, perhaps removing Fury, will likely ensure you get to keep it." She chuckles and says, "May be add some dendrotoxin rounds to this game, make it more realistic." She gets up to a level where a helicopter lowers and guys are appearing on the left, top, and right of the screen really quickly and she dies. The screen asks her to insert more quarters to continue.

Bobbi stands up and lets it time out, then puts in her initials: DBM for the first new score of the machine. "Okay, agents can have at it now." She dusts her hands, "My duty is done." She nods to Phil, "That's team building isn't it? Seems like it to me."

Phil Coulson has posed:
"It is team builiding, yes," Coulson replies, before he nods, "And I would think that removing Fury would help a bit, that's true." He looks back to the game, and grins, "Have fun, the next one in line."

Mikhail Uriokovitch has posed:
Mik listens and nods eagerly. Still plenty happy with the whole arrangement. "Just know bets are likely to be made, and someone will try to cheat or hack." He leans up against a wall and nods in approval as Bobbi christens the new machine with her initials, though currently uncertain what they all stand for.
