Cast of Characters: Levian, Selene Corvinus

Levian has posed:
Since the day Daisy took him out for drinks, Levian's been spending a lot of time in Hell's Kitchen. In part because he's still curious about the Devil of Hell's Kitchen, but also because he finds that it's a nice balance between the misery and violence of Hell, and the hopeful and relaxed nature of Earth.

But tonight, he's hunting. He hunts quite frequently, as there's not really a shortage of possessed humans.

This time is a bit odd, though.

Possessed people can be quite powerful, but there's something exceptionally off about this one. A possessed human known as Dario Raimi.

Levian's running through an abandoned office space, his third eye wide open as he tries to pinpoint where exactly that thing has run off to. He's running on all fours while blood trails behind him, his abdomen with fresh claw marks slashed into it.

"That thing's scent, it's strange. It doesn't smell human, but it's possessed... what is it?" he asks himself as he stops at some stairs and stands up straight. He presses a hand on his abdomen, holding up a single finger to make some light. "He went down there..." he mutters to himself, the danger of tonight's hunt a bit more palpable than usual.

Selene Corvinus has posed:
The hunt, as it were, was being shared by another tonight.

This Raimi individual had killed one of her Death Dealers, and because of this, Selene was out for revenge. She'd scaled the buildings, to use their height to her advantage. She'd learned to use the verticality of cities as such, track her targets until they expose themselves, usually between buildings, and the come down upon them from above.

Tonight though, Selene smelled another tracking her same target. He'd been on the hunt for awhile now, and she's moving to intercept him now.

She appears, in that same stairwell, standing at the top of it and peering down at him. Her eyes are a silver/blue, her skin is flushed pale, but the rest of her is encased in black clothing. "He's a Lycanthrope." She tells Levian, having heard his anxiously uttered words.

"What, are you?" She knows he's not human, thats for sure.

Levian has posed:
"Levian, 999th Son of an Unknown Demon Lord." Levian introduces himself, peering down at his bloody hand. "You happen to have a lighter or a match?"

But then he's sniffing around again. "A lycanthrope. I heard of those back home. I didn't know demons could possess them."

He sniffs up at her, now. "You smell like blood, but you're not covered in blood." His third eye seems hyperfocused on her, the larger eye moving independently of his other two eyes.

Off in the distance of the building, there's a strange, ridiculously inhuman roar. Not quite what one would hear from a lycanthrope, not quite what one might hear from a typical demon... though what is a typical demon?

Selene Corvinus has posed:
They live in a world of madness, all around them, so its of no real shock to Selene to hear Levian's admission. She doesn't react to it at all really. Beyond just looking him over quickly from her high-ground atop the flight of stairs.

"Levian, 999th." She quietly says as she starts to descend the staircase, her leather clad body moving calmly, the coat swaying around her form as she descends. "One away from a thousand." She adds with a smirk.

Her eyes leave him, to look down the next flight of stairs. "Raimi is fleeing us. Possessed by a demon, he's more powerful than even an average Lycan." Her voice is husky, laced with an accent foreign to this city.

She raises her silver-blue gaze back up to him, her black hair framing her face, a bit wild in her haste of the hunt tonight. "But they can still be killed." She pauses then. He'd been honest with her. She believed in honesty when it mattered.

"I'm a Vampire. I deal in the death of these things..."

Levian has posed:
"I guess the magic of the universe that tells me what my titles are has a sense of humor about my insignificance." Levian smiles at her, then begins to descend the stairs. His hand ignites to burn his wounds enough to stop bleeding, causing him to growl for a brief moment.

"I've heard of vampires. I've met demons who were vampires, not sure if it's the same thing. I've always wanted to meet an immortal human though. That's how you work, right? Immortal human?" He draws some complex magical sigals in the air, creating an orange-red ball of fire that floats over his shoulder for more hands free light.

"I'm hunting him to eat the demon. Normally I save the human being possessed, but I guess you're here to kill it." He looks back at her while heading down the stairs, and asks, "Is the lycanthrope evil, or are you evil?" very casually, as if it's more of a genuine question than an accusation.

Selene Corvinus has posed:
He'd asked her for a lighter, and when he produces the fire she eyes it for a moment before she continues on down the stairs with him now. "You're cauterizing your wounds?" She asks of him.

"I am immortal, with caveats." She states, rounding a corner, her hands at her sides. "I'm over six hundred years old, give or take. But I'm not invulnerable. Sadly far from it."

She up-nods her chin in the direction they're going. "There's no human left in this thing we're after. It's blood has been tainted, and not with a common strain of an American Werewolf, a far stronger strain, from my homeland. I've come here to stop the spread, before it gets any further out of hand than it already has."

Her right hand goes to the railing beside her as they descend together. She glances back to him. "Evil is a point of view." She answers his last question. Sort've. Her eyes go forward again then. "But if you're asking if I kill normal humans, the answer is yes. But only if they impede my goals. I've no interest in harming people who are innocent of... all of this."

Levian has posed:
"Yes. I need Earth fire to heal them, but since I don't have any way to make it, I'm just using my own fire to stop the bleeding." Levian explains while walking down the hall on the lower floor now, once they reach it. It's a typical office building, with doors flanking them on each side. His fire does a fairly okay job of lighting the place, but it doesn't reach all the way to the other end of the hall.

There's creaks, things that fall over in various offices, and other ambient noise that one often hears in this kind of place. But the demon is sniffing the air, apparently following his nose.

"I've never met a human who was older than me before. Strange. I'm over three-hundred. I've only been on Earth for over a month though, so I don't know much about the planet other than what I've heard from damned souls and some other demons." He listens to her, tilting his head without looking back. "It's a virus?"

"Many humans hate me, because of what I am. Demons are a natural predator to humans, just like vampires. I know that I don't kill humans for no reason, even though they suspect that I do, or will. So I'll believe that you don't either." He stops, and offers his hand to her. "I was told that to humans, a handshake is a brief sign of trust. So, I'll offer it to you."

But right after he does that, off just at the edge of his light, a creature bursts through one of the office doors, its form twisted and mangled for the brief moment they can spot it, and then bursts into another door.

"I think what the two of them are, it's causing a strange corruption..." But he doesn't wait to talk about it, he goes running immediately, dropping on all fours like a hound himself, contorting his body in abnormal ways to run faster.

Selene Corvinus has posed:
Selene listens to his explanation as they finish descending the stairs and slip in to an emptied office space. She keeps her senses focused on her task at hand, their talking will likely give away their approach to their enemy who has remarkable abilities in this state that it's gotten itself...

"Here." Selene says then as she passes over a silver zippo lighter with an intricate pattern engraved in to its faces.

Her hand then moves toward her coat where it dips inside along the side of her chest, and then draws out a handgun, silver and black. She glances back to Levian then. "It's a virus, yes, that overtakes a human and turns it in to something else. My humanity is just as gone as the Lycan's own, but... the difference is, I'm not here to harm innocents. It. However. Is."

She glances at the offered hand for a handshake, having not yet even given him her name, she's considering doing so now, before their enemy lunges out and makes itself known. Her handgun pops up and a loud discharge of a single shot is sent toward the creature before it flees!

Selene watches Levian race off, on all fours, and she starts to move quickly after him, a jog that is growing quicker with every step taken.

Levian has posed:
Levian suddenly rises to his feet, flicking the lighter on as he skids to a stop in front of the door that the creature ran into.

He begins some infernal chanting, drawing sigals into the air with finger. And the flames from the lighter begin to get sucked into it, before the sigal slams into his abdomen. It looks distinctly like it's burning his wound closed. "It's not enough fire to fully heal me, but it's enough not to hinder my movements. We'll need this for the exorcism though, to start a bigger fire."

The lighter is slid into his pocket and he rushes into the room, which is full of abandoned cubicles, making it something of a corporate maze. "I had matches, tried to do an exorcism, but he was too strong to do it while he was still moving around."

That's when, from behind one of the cubicles, the twisted head of a wolf peeks out, staring at them. It's smaller than normal, almost shrunken and deformed, until a large, muscular, furry leg steps from behind the cubicle, revealing its massive seven foot tall body, and that deformed head as nothing more than its hand.

The lycan's body is horribly deformed from the corruption of the demon, its eyes red and pointing in seemingly random directions, fur shedding and giving way to blisters and rough patches of skin.

It finally speaks, its words rough and multi-tonal. "The wolf is full of hate and violence, it's like I've possessed a demon! It's like //drugs//! You have to try this, Levian, why are you //resisting//? This feeling..."

He thrusts the wolf hand forward, the arm cracking and popping as it stretches and seemingly grows new bone and tissue to extend straight at Selene, trying to chomp her head clear off.

Levian's already forming red-orange flames in the palms of his hands, running for the main body itself. "I don't even know how to possess people. And I'll never pass a job interview with that body." he says with a very deadpan tone that almost sounds like a joke, but it could very well be sincere.

Selene Corvinus has posed:
Selene is certainly familiar with at least /part/ of what this foul creature had become. She turns to look to the wolf head that creeps around the corner to stare at them, then turns to face it fully as the rest of the monstrosity reveals itself with it.

Disgusting, isn't strong enough of a word. But such is the way of things, in this world where the Lycans are desperate for power, in any form they can get it.

Levian, and the demon within the beast, share banter while Selene is raising up her handgun just as the wolf's head/arm rushes out toward her. She twists her body to the right to dodging the hungry wolf-head hand before it can snap its jaws on to her! She strikes upward with her left hand, sending two silver spikes up toward its 'wrist'. Eight inches of pure polished silver, intending to drive it up in to the muscle and bone at the base of the wolf-head-hand!

"I can hold it down." She says confident as she raises her gun up again then to fire another shot at its chest now! Her bullets containing a silver-nitrate compound that-- if landing --can enter the Lycan's blood stream to melt its blood away as it spreads through the creature, though the Demon may have some counter to this.

Levian has posed:
The wolf roars in pain, Dario's primary head and the hand crying out at the same time. The extended arm just kind of rapidly rots off, but the massive body just comes charging at them, releasing a nightmarish howl.

Levian releases small torrents of orange-red fire, carefully aimed at Dario's torso. He has to hold back at least a bit, to avoid accidentally starting a dangerous fire in the building itself. "That's silver. It's a weakness for demons, but I guess lycanthropes too. It's perfect."

He runs around the beast after she shoots it, then claws up its back, trying to wrap his arm around its neck as he's swung from left to right like a rodeo clown. "If we can pin it down, I can exorcise it!"

Not seeming inclined on letting go, Dario finally begins to weaken and stumble, but Levian wants it on its back and tries to guide it. "Just be careful, that stuff can hurt me too."

Selene Corvinus has posed:
Selene lets the beast run her down, at least in-part. She hears Levian's words and plays off of them by letting the demon get her down. On the ground now, she rolls past its stomping foot and draws another silver spike out that she uses to slam straight down at the left foot of the demonic lycan! She slams the spike down in to the bone, intending to have it come out the opposite side and firmly in to the floor!

She's fought these things for 6 centuries now, though this one is a bit more than she's used to. But it doesn't frighten her, not like it would so many others anyway.

A quick twirl has her leaping back to her feet where she starts to scale the beast to get a seemingly slender arm around it's neck, as she tries to position herself on its back, even going so far as to wrap her legs around his back from behind! Using her powerful strength, she'll try to bend the creature back on to the floor, to hold him down against herself!

Levian has posed:
Levian releases it when Selene hops on, watching her strength with momentary awe. "It's fascinating what humans can become." he says as he pulls over a metal crash can, and starts tossing assorted flammable things into it, then ignites them with the lighter. "Earth fire."

The beast finally falls backward, on top of her, just in time for Levian to begin drawing fire sigals in the air again. These sigals are white, and as he chants, fire draws from the trash can and into the floating fire, creating a larger white ring of flames.

"Earth fire purifies impure things, and heals fire elementals. But I wonder, is a lycanthrope an impure creature of evil, or only the demon? I suppose we'll test..."

The fire stretches out from the sigal and forms something of a flaming construct of chains, wrapping around Dario's legs and arms, causing it an incredible amount of pain. "You can't do this!" Dario cries out. "We're brothers, we're the same, you don't know her! This wolf, it tells me, she hunts down their kind. She'll hunt //us// to!"

"Maybe. But so will I." Levian retorts, and a twisted black construct of energy comes tearing from the lyanthrope's body, as Levian opens his mouth wide, all three of his eyes laser focused on it as he sucks the energy down into his throat.

He falls to his knees, licking his lips as the wolf starts to shrink a bit, one of its arms missing as it returns to its human form, but still alive.

"It's finally out of me..." Dario says as he breathes in relief, in so much relief that he's entirely forgotten that he's in the arms of a Death Dealer.

Selene Corvinus has posed:
Selene is there beneath the beast throughout it all, though she does uncross her legs and plant her boots on the floor when she feels its been pinned down enough as is. Her arm stays around its neck, and she uses her considerable strength to hold it in place through the ritual. She hears its words, but doesn't really react to them, whether they're true or merely desperate speculation on the part of this demonic presence that is about to be sent back to the Hell it crawled out of.

The beast writhes, defies, and eventually succumbs to the ritual from Levian's control. Selene is just there, waiting for it, holding it, as she feels it reduce in size, strength and ability.

She hears the voice of the creature chance, from that of the Demon's to that of Dario's...

It's not even two seconds after Dario speaks his first words of being exorcised, thatn another gunshot rings out. This time, Selene had placed the gun against the side of the Lycan's head, and pulled the trigger, executing him there on the floor, on top of her. Her expression is just as flat and calm as it had been, though she does lay her head back for a moment to just exhale.

His body is pushed off of her then, and she moves to stand up, rising back on to her booted feet, to look down at Dario, before up to Levian. "Well done." She says to him, now holstering her handgun back inside of her coat...

Levian has posed:
"I was hungry, I've been through a lot lately. I think I grew a small organ. I never grow anything interesting anymore." Levian pats his stomach, the fire in the trash can gone now, and he tosses her lighter back to her.

"You really seem like a human and a demon mixed together, maybe because you're so old." He walks up to her, offering his hand again, now that things have calmed down. "You have good brutality." he says as a compliment, perhaps translating something to English.

"Do you want to exchange numbers?" he wonders, perhaps not grasping the typical human connotations of such a question, but he asks anyway, quite sincerely.

Selene Corvinus has posed:
Selene's right hand raises up to intercept, and catch, the lighter when he tosses it back to her. She spins it around in her palm, then pockets it within an inside pocket of her jacket's interior. "Perhaps you'll grow more interesting things, now that you're settling in to life amongst the humans." She states, her eyes dropping down to the Lycan's body again, broken, foul, disgusting.

As it so happens she's drawing her phone out when he asks the questions about numbers. "My people dispose of these corpses, so that the rest of the world doesn't have to deal with them." She glances over at him again though while holding her phone in front of her.

"Age is a chilling effect, it smooths you over more and more with each passing year. You... feel fresh, at least to this world. You've got a lot of settling in to do, Levian nine hundred and ninety ninth." She states with a faint smirk. "Do you have a phone number? I can reach out to you if I come across more like..." She gives the dead Dario a light kick with the tip of her steel toed boot...

Levian has posed:
"Yes. I'm joining an agency to help protect the world, if I can pass my job interview." Levian pulls out a phone. It's a SHIELD cellphone, and he goes through the menus to turn it around and show her his number.

"I'm young for my species, but I do feel fresh. You seem older and wise, I find it soothing to the violent tendencies of my soul." He steps forward to crouch over the Lycan, sniffing at it out of curiosity. "There's a man who hunts things like me, I find him quite terrifying. I guess we're all hunted by someone or something."

He goes silent for a moment, then looks up from his crouched position. "You eat fast food?"

Selene Corvinus has posed:
Selene looks to the screen of his device and taps in the number to send him a text, amusingly its of a wolf emoji and nothing else, but ultimately it puts her number in to his phone and starts a dialog for possible text messaging in the future.

She then slips her phone back in to her jacket and watches him crouch down beside the deceased. A light huff escapes between her pale hued lips. "I do not. It... smells wrong to me." She says to him then. "But you're right, we're all being hunted, to some degree. Does this hunter you mention, work with this same Agency that you're ... joining to protect the world?"

Selene's voice is calm, ever-so, and her stare sweps from Levian back to the Lycan. "Normally I burn these, but I can't do it in a place like this, it would set the whole building on fire... which would be... anything but ideal. My people will come to retrieve it before the sun is up."

Levian has posed:
"I don't think so. I think he's... someone we have legends about in Hell. I don't like to say his name out loud. But we call him the Hellblazer. If that is indeed who threatened to banish me the other day..." Levian frowns a bit though, not at that, but... "It's sad that you can't eat it. If it makes you feel any better, I'll drink blood with you, as long as it isn't human blood. I'm a human vegan. I don't really usually eat blood by itself, but eating together is good for bonding, and it tastes nice enough."

"I'd offer, but I barely used my magic for the same reason tonight." He finally stands and stares at his phone. "I'll text you pictures of any bloody food I find."

Selene Corvinus has posed:
Levian's words garner the rare action of causing Selene to show a mixture of a grin and a smile. It's there, it's visible, but it goes away in just a matter of seconds before she glances away, and returns her stare with another far more blanked expression. "My coven ahs moved past drinking from humans directly. We've created a synthetic blood."

Selene crouches and rips the silver spike from the Lycan's foot, then swipes its dark ichor off of it across her jacket's sleeve. She then twists the spike and offers it to Levian. "Here." She tells him. "It's kept within this. You can sample it if you'd like."

The Vampire's gaze looks back the way they'd come before back to him. "And I can eat regular food, I just generally choose not to. At least... not that kind. The Americans have created a lot of good things in this world, but 'Fast Food' is far from one of them."

Levian has posed:
"The desecration of living flesh appeals to me, so I enjoy fast food." Levian steps back slightly when she offers the spike. "Maybe if it comes in a container that isn't silver, I'll give it a try."

He starts to turn around, heading in the direction she was looking. "When I have my own home, I'll have books and interesting things. You can come when I do. For now, I'll see you later, We'll do fun things in the future, and hunt more too."

Selene Corvinus has posed:
Selene retracts the offered silver spike and grins again at him, though this time more lightly. "Right, demons." She adds. "Another thing America has more than my homeland... a vast array of unusual people, and things."

As he goes, she watches him a moment longer before she turns and starts to explore the office building itself, waiting for her people.
