Date of Scene: 26 October 2020
Location: Athletics: Triskelion
Synopsis: May and Kendra talk about a lot of *CLASSIFIED*
Cast of Characters: Kendra Saunders, Melinda May

Kendra Saunders has posed:
She had been deemed healthy. Well, as healthy as anyone can be with wings permanently attached to one's back. Few would know or realize that for Kendra, this wasn't that much of a stretch. It was just odd during times when she wasn't in battle. She could fight in wings. She /did/ fight in wings. So, to get some semblance of normalcy, she came to a place where she could do just that. So, she has grabbed herself a baton to go through her paces with. She swings, sliding around and sending a wing forward to attack an invisible opponent before turning and whipping her wing around to sort of backhand (backwing?) the opponent before whipping another up with a baton.

Her movements are smooth, easy and natural. One would think she's always had wings. If someone didn't know she didn't have wings before, they'd think she had them forever. It's certainly a far cry from the poor woman hung from a ceiling.

Melinda May has posed:
May has had... one hell of a day. And, sometimes, a good way to deal with that sort of thing is to expend some energy. She enters the gym dressed for a workout, but pauses on the threshold as she sees Saunders exercizing. Testing those wings.

Her head cants as she automatically starts to evaluate the young woman's form. She can only guess at the appropriate use of the extra appendages, however. That said... it *looks* effective.

Kendra Saunders has posed:
Easily flips into the air, tucking and rolling in a space not meant for flight but rather easily whipping herself into that flip, spreading the wings into a wide arc to cut the enemies before her before pushing forward to slam her baton into the invisble enemy. Finally she sucks in a breath and stands tall, folding her wings against her back. She looks over at baton and seems, well, disappointed. She then closes it up and walks over toward her bag.

"May." She calls out and nods to the woman as she seems to either have noticed her or just noticed her. She waves her hand and grabs a towel as she starts over, "How have you been?"

Melinda May has posed:
"Still breathing," May says, her expression falling into that neutral cast that's so natural to her now. But at least it's a relaxed, comfortable expression, rather than a tense, frowny expression. She gestures lightly to the wings. "Looks like you're adapting, well."

She cants her head slightly. "Did they come with an instruction manual or is that another of those unique instincts you display?"

Kendra Saunders has posed:
A small smirk and she looks to May before standing up a little and stretching slightly, "Well, if I told you it's classified would you understand?" She asks and then she looks at the wings before looking forward, "Lets just say, they feel natural." She nods her head, "And for now, leave it at that." She then shrugs and looks down at her bag, sealing it up before sitting down beside it, "So, what has you worried about breathing today?" She asks and shifts a shoulder, "Rough mission or just piles of paperwork?"

Melinda May has posed:
May almost chuckles. "What would you say if I told you it's classified?" At the very least, there's a twitch to her thin lips. But she concedes the point with a mild shift of her weight and nod of her head. "Long day." She flips a hand, trying not to roll her eyes. "Interviews."

Kendra Saunders has posed:
A frown and she shakes her head, "I prefer battle to that sort of thing." She then idly adjusts her wings a little, "This, this I'm not used to." She states simply and looks over her shoulder, "These things are always there." She nods her head, "That is something I can say I'm in no way used to." She then looks to May, "I do appreciate you coming out there, May. I know it is your job in a way but you still got me out of that cave. That man..."

She lets out a slow breath, shaking her head and looks down, "I'd be lying if I said I didn't know him. He's insane and I don't know what plans he might have had or why he did this for sure. I just know he always has other motives."

Melinda May has posed:
"Mm." Yes, May would do it for anyone, but... "You're welcome, Saunders. I'm just glad we got you back safe and sound." A glance to her wings. "Relatively speaking."

She cants her head. "So, what do you know about him." A beat. "That isn't classified, anyway?" Because, yeah, she gets it.

Even so, over the last five or six years, she's watched the girl move up through the ranks and become a competent agent. You don't get sent on solo missions like hers if you're incompetent. Or an idiot. Therefore, May has a modicum of respect for her. She'd like to keep her in one piece.

Kendra Saunders has posed:
"Well, the majority of it is classified for...reasons." She sighs and shakes her head, "I understand SHIELD but there are times when I think it makes everything more difficult than it needs to be." She then looks up with a sigh, "What I can say is he is talented in the ways of magic." She nods her head, "And he has ties to things that aren't part of this world." Kendra pulls up a water bottle and takes down a long drink before she pulls out another and offers it to May, "He'll not give up just because of a set back. Eventually he'll come back and I can say he's very patient. He doesn't care how long things take as long as they get done."

Melinda May has posed:
May suppresses the urge to groan. Though, she does let out a breath through her nose that might reflect it. "I hate magic," she says wearily, pinching the bridge of her nose.

Nevertheless, she accepts the bottle with a murmured thanks. "I'm familiar with the type." She shakes her head mildly. "The amount of magic I've encountered recently is..." The suppressed groan escapes briefly. "I hate magic."

Kendra Saunders has posed:
"Yeah, well, imagine my love for magic." She gestures back at the wings and rolls her eyes, "I assure you, I have dealt with such a thing for a considerable amount of time." Very considerable. Like, so considerable. She looks back to teh room in general and then at May, "I'm stronger, May. Faster, too. Tougher." She states and nods her head, "That much I can say for sure thanks to whatever he did with the wings. I'm entirely unsure why he would do this or what purpose he could have." She nods her head, "I'd say more but even being as high a rank as you is apparently too low as far as the top is concerned."

Melinda May has posed:
Yeah. May might go and push on that some. If she can find a sympathetic ear. She may not get very far with it, but the Field Leader can be... tenacious when she wants to be. And has been known to defy orders before now.

She doesn't mention that, however. Instead, she says, "In my experience, if your enemy is 'helping' you -- enhancing you -- it's usually because he intends to *use* you somehow."

Hence the reason she intends to push the brass.

Kendra Saunders has posed:
"Yeah. I was thinking that." She states and lets out a sigh as she looks down at her hands, "It's just not something I had intended or wanted, as you can imagine. I was happy as a member of SHIELD. I mean, I still am but...it's not the same." She looks at the wings and looks over at May, "I never wanted to be a Captain America type. Just human was fine." This time around anyway. SHe then looks down and she is going to go push things, too. Phil or Maria or if she has to...

Point is, one can't just walk around with wings and answer no questions.

Melinda May has posed:
May has a mind to go straight to Fury. She's done it before successfully. "An image inducer might help," she tells the younger agent. "Something to disguise them. We don't have a lot of them, and they're somewhat... classified. But, it's worth looking into." She gives a wry smile. "I doubt the brass are really going to like you attracting a lot of attenton. I mean, you could go talk to Captain America. Join the Avengers. Change your focus. But, if you want to keep doing the work you like? Find options, Saunders. *Make* yourself some options."

She sounds experienced in that.

Kendra Saunders has posed:
A chuckle and she grins at May, "I sometimes forget certain things, May." She nods her head and grins as she looks over at May, "I want a lot of things. I want to continue with SHIELD, that's for sure. Maybe an image inducer? I don't know." She nods her head as she drinks another swig, "I honestly think that maybe these wings are the kick in the ass I needed to get back to doing greater work I have done in the past." She sighs and May might notice that is a strange bit of words. The woman was 18 when she joined SHIELD. What work did she do before that besides school work?

Melinda May has posed:
Yes. It's a strange twist of words. But May has been around a *long* time. She's met others with 'instincts' like Kendra's. Mary-Jane Watson, most recently. The spirit of the warrior inhabiting that girl came to recognize a kindred spirit in May. Thus, May recognizes certain signs, now.

But... apparently, that's *classified*.

"Maybe," she agrees. "But you'll need to figure out the *how*, I expect. Something like the Avengers is the most obvious track, not the only one."

Kendra Saunders has posed:
"Oh, I know but then again." She grins at May, "There are some who do both." She chuckles and nods her head before she sucks in a breath and lets it out slowly, "Besides, it isn't like Fury to let an agent just leave and not keep them on, so to speak. Once a SHIELD agent, always a SHIELD agent. So to speak." She considers, "Don't worry, May. I'll always be around to kick your ass." She winks at the woman.

Melinda May has posed:
May snirks at that. "You might have wings, Saunders. But I'm the tough old bird in this equation. So, don't count your chickens until they're hatched." Oh, Kendra may very well be able to mop the floor with May from a physical stand point. But the senior agent isn't ready to concede defeat just yet. Crafty as the girl may be, May's been around long enough to have a few tricks up her sleeve.

Kendra Saunders has posed:
A laugh and Kendra nods her head, "Oh sure...you're old. I get it." She winks at May, making sure to duck away a little as she stands up and finishes her water, "I think it's time that I get back to work, May. I can't just play around all day. I still have things to do despite my wings." She nods her head, "And it isn't like Phil gives people leeway just because they have new appendages."

Melinda May has posed:
That... actually earns a snirk. "Phil's a pussy cat compared to Hill," May says. She almost smiles again. "But go on. Get back to work." She starts to move towards a mat to begin a kata of her own. As she settles into a neutral stance, however, she glances over at the Kendra. "Slacker."

Brown eyes glitter.
