Synopsis: John Constantine gets hired by Selene Corvinus to look into the matter of mystical attack masks threatening her Coven.
Cast of Characters: John Constantine, Selene Corvinus

John Constantine has posed:
For John Constantine, misplacing the House of Mystery has been an extreme irritation. The House travels easily, contains many mythic tomes and magical sundries, and even serves nicely as a shelter against forces of darkness.

With the House missing, John's been forced to downsize a bit. He's staying in the East Quay Motel, and the potent wardings he'd usually use have been replaced by chalk scribbles and ingredients obtained from Wal-Mart.

At least the motel has a bar attached to it, and it's where John's spending most of his time when not working cases. One might find it hard to find John's door, but anyone with a bit of patience could stake the bar out long enough for the sallow-faced Brit to grab a drink.

Which is where Selene is when John drops heavily down the stairs with a stiff-legged reluctance and heads directly to the counter. "Shot of bourbon, Jack?" John requests of the bartender. The bartender scowls at John until the blonde fellow relents with a weary sigh and digs a few bills out of his pocket. A twenty's tugged loose and dropped on the counter.

Seems John's struggling a bit to stay ahead of his bills. A bad idea when staying at a place where drinks can be charged to the room...

Selene Corvinus has posed:
For Selene, having a wide array of contacts was a benefit to what she does, not all of the people she associates with needs to strictly be members of her Coven either... even if many in her Coven frown upon making connections with the outside world, especially since they manufacture their own synthetic blood at this point.

But being the leader of the Covens Death Dealer army, means that Selene needs be plugged in to a wider array of associates, than most others in the Covens need to be. So few kick up a fuss about it.

Tonight, she's seeking out one of the contacts she's made here in the States, that of John Constantine himself... she'd reluctantly admit that she likes him, even if he's rough around the edges, she finds those quirks to be endearing, if troublesome from time to time.

They'd work well together in the past.

She was already at the bar when he arrived, having been expecting him to show up, as she'd figured out his routine through having a few of her Death Dealers tracking him...

Seated at a corner table, the woman stands up, wearing a pair of form fit black leather pants, a blood-red sweater, and a pair of black two-inch heeled boots, she walks across the room to slip in to a seat beside him where he settles in.

She just looks over at him, a faint smile on the sculpted features of her face. "Hello, John." She tells him, in what would be a familiar voice to him, soft and soothing to most ears, husky and flavorful with many accents from across Europe all blending together hinting at her extensive travels over 6 centuries of 'living'.

John Constantine has posed:
John's halfway through shaking a packet of smokes out of his pocket when Selene sits down. He blinks in surprise. "Blimey love, how'd I miss you?" he remarks to cover his startlement. She's pretty sneaky, after all. A beaten up old Zippo and a crumpled pack of Marlboro's are produced. Things must be getting pretty lean if John can't get his hands on his Silk Cuts anymore. It only takes a few seconds to cup fire in his palm and stoke the thing to life. He ignores the 'No Smoking' sign nearby, much as the motel ownership seems to do.

"I was just thinking to myself, 'I need more fangs in tight pants in my life'," he quips. "I'd offer to buy you a drink but I'm down to my last few pennies. Dreading facing tomorrow sober."

Selene Corvinus has posed:
Selene does come across as being in a bit of a 'casual mode' tonight, consideringshe doesn't look particular disheveled from dealing with the... things John knows she deals with. His comments get a smile across her lips to blossom a little brighter and she just gives him a smooth single shake of her head. "You're on my tab now then, so drink as much as you'd like." She says in that devilishly smooth voice of hers. "And yes, it means I'm buttering you, the tight leather parts are part and parcel with that as well." She then offers him a brief smirk.

She already has a drink, in her right hand, and she raises it up to sip from it. "How are you, John?" she then asks, for pleasantry's sake. "Things sound a bit rough, from what I've gathered."

John Constantine has posed:
John eyes the rotgut in front of him, throws it back, and beckons the bartender over. "Johnny Walker Black," he says without missing a beat-- or before Selene hesitates about paying his bar tab! Two fingers aim down at the bar and wave in a shot for Selene along with his.

"Rough?" John's lips purse. "Not really, no," he says, shaking his head. "I mean, I'm finding myself a little, uh... under-sheltered," he concedes. "Chaz kicked me out of his flat. Brave soul, let me stay there a good four months before he cracked. Something about the guitar and the wee hours. I'm parked up here for a bit until House comes around. She's peeved at me about something. Wouldn't be so much a nuisance but all my bloody money is under my bed there."

He looks sideways at Selene, leans towards her and back with a prompting nod. "So this innit a social visit, I take it? Shame you only ever seem to come around when you need me to work a case, luv."

Selene Corvinus has posed:
A grin appears on the woman's lips as she watches him down his cheaper drink only to hurriedly move on to a more expensive one, she doesn't seem put off about buying it at all either. She just takes another sip of her own as she listens to him describe his current plight in life.

"That sounds rather dramatic, all around." She comments to him in return. "But it also sounds very you." She adds with the hint of another grin that comes and goes rather quickly across her visage. "I'd be ... lying if I didn't say I sought you out because of a ... business related situation, but now you're making me feel guilty for bringing it up." She toys with him a bit.

"You'd think after being around as long as I have, I'd have a more open schedule..." He's all too familiar with how old she is, unless his memory has gone! Even though she's eternally frozen in the form of a 19 year olds body. "I have flats in both Manhattan and Gotham, if you need a place to rest night. Safe houses, so to speak, places I rarely visit unless needs be." Unless she's hiding from trouble, or preparing to go cause trouble. Buying his booze, and offering him places to stay, she's buttering him up!

John Constantine has posed:
"Mmm," John says with a suggestive amusement. He looks at Selene, then turns in his seat to face her. Fearlessly he occupies her proximity, studying her features closely. "Does that line work often? 'Come to my safe house, no one can find it'?" he queries her. John grins and leans back in his seat and curls his fingers around his drink. His mood and his body language remain open, amicable. "Appreciate it love, all the same, but I'm not quite so desperate yet that I'll risk sheltering under the auspices of your Coven. Some of your compatriots are a bit sore about that incident in Long Island a wee bit back. I'll be safe enough here, at least safe enough to cut and run in a pinch."

"So what's the work? Did someone lose a familiar? Misplace the keys to their gothy castle back in Czechoslovokia?"

Selene Corvinus has posed:
Selene's brown eyes cast over to her left as a pair of bar patrons pass by the both of them, but she returns her stare to John when he asks her the nature of the work she's sought out from him. She partakes in another sip from her glass of what looks like blood, but is actually just a vodka and cranberry. Another quick grin is given to his various responses to her, not really fighting him on the safe house offer, it's his to take or turn down after all.

The last bit though, she bounces her eyes down and then back up to him. "Nothing quite so cliche, but not impossible amongst my circle. No... this... is..." She raises her drink up to sip from it again, then shakes her head. "Absurd." She settles on before she just lays it out there. "Three of my enemies have come in to possession of masks. Masks that are... as much as I'm loathe to say these words, appear to be magical in nature, and are making them much harder to ... deal with." Kill them, she means they're hard to kill because of the masks.

"I was hoping you might help me, find a way to rid them of the masks, or rid the masks of this power."

John Constantine has posed:
John sips his drink, actually savouring the liquor a bit. It's a good top-shelf whiskey, and one the heavy-drinking magus rarely affords himself.

"Rates are five hundred a day, plus expenses," John tells Selene agreeably. "Hate to charge you a pence luv but--" his hands spread at the motel and his situation. Helpless!

"I'll need some information. Names of the blokes, some personal details. Anything you've got on the masks, too-- lore, origin, descriptions, that sort of thing." He's already digging a notepad and pen out of his jacket, and gives Selene a keen look. "How 'imminent' is the danger here? I start charging hazard pay rates if I get shot at."

Selene Corvinus has posed:
A quick smile comes and goes from the European Vampire's lips at John's words as she produces a smart phone and sets it down on the table between them (where she was keeping that phone in those pants is anyone's guess.)

She pushes it across the table toward him with the screen active and display a large man in a mask, the mask looks like a cross between a Plague Doctor mask and a ... Gothic Hockey Goalie Mask. It doesn't scream ancient, it looks more like modern pretending to be old. Possibly just imbued with magic, be with ancient adornments, or perhaps just a 'spell' of some manner.

"How high would you place a mini-gun on your level of danger?" Selene counters his last question. "Of the three men, the large one, has a mini-gun. The other two have assault rifles. Normally, this wouldn't be a big issue for my people and I, but with an inability to penetrate their 'shields' ..." She sighs very softly. "They cut down two of my people, and injured 3 more before we fell back and fled from them. Two more engagements were similar in results, but we at least lost no one else to their tricks. We need them ... depowered, or this could only get worse for us. Especially if they start reproducing these things. Whatever they are."

John Constantine has posed:
"I'm profoundly allergic to bullets, luv. You'll need to take on those blokes yourself. I'm a lover, not a fighter."

John picks up the phone and examines the images. Fingers rest on the screen, manipulating the picture while he studies it. "Not ancient," he confirms. "Looks modern. Hacked together." The magus leans back and digs in his pocket for a palm-sized cylinder, loaded with swing-out monocle lenses of various tints and colors. He rolls through a few while staring at the image, then frowns. "Enchanted, definitely. Strong aura of abjuration. But there's a ... a compulsion in there? Something corrupt, certainly."

His thumb skims across the screen with sideways swipes. "Blimey, I'd figure a gel like you'd have some candids on here," he remarks while openly snooping Selene's gallery.

Selene Corvinus has posed:
There's a quick smile given to him as Selene leans over on the table on her right elbow as her hand goes up to the side of her face to let her fingers slip in amongst the locks of her black hair. "I'm both." She softly replies about 'lover not a fighter', and she punctuates it with another small smile.

She goes on to listen to his rundown take on the masks, nodding very softly to each point that he lays out on the table. "Good to know." She quietly says back to him. "The eyes in the masks would glow every time a bullet would impact with the energy field around the men. This is what lead us to, well, where we are now in the belief of their magical origin, but what you say seems to further lead credence to that. So yes. If you can bring the magic down, my peeople and I can bring the men down, and we can all go home, happy and healthy-- relatively speaking."

Two more drinks are brought over to them, fresh refills, and Selene thanks the server. She slides her mostly empty away and then takes the new one for a sip. A quick grin comes to his latter comments, knowing full well what those mean. "Work phone." She quickly replies in her ice cold voice, playfully flavored though. "My personal phone is just littered with nudes." She adds with a little shake of head. "So many. Angles that you wouldn't even believe possible to get." She can be quite teasing, when in the right setting.

John Constantine has posed:
John looks at the phone, then rolls his eyes with a sour expression and hands it back to Selene. "Tease," he informs her, and clicks his shot glass against her cocktail. "Right then. It's an abjuration. Protective magic. Throwing up a shield sturdy enough to stop a bullet takes some serious power. One that can stop a spray of gunfire, that's pulling energy from somewhere. Even magic, nothing comes free. I'll make some inquiries among seedier folks than I if any muscle's been complaining about illnesses or odd behaviour recently. He's either cursed or suicidal, because ten to one it's pulling his life-force to protect him. Short term survival but the end result, it's worse than cancer." John's tone goes somber. "Drains the vitality out of you. Leaves a husk not worth a twopence. Nasty way to go."

Selene Corvinus has posed:
Another little smile graces her lips for a moment at his first response to her before she just folds her fingers over to rest her head now against her knuckles while she looks at him here in this ... cute motel bar.

"I suppose it isn't an irony that you speak of that." She then replies back. "In that this power is likely harming either them, or just generally coming from somewhere, or someone." Another sip of her drink is had, and then she elaborates on that. "One of the people in my Coven used to work with a wizard, a long time ago, and they pointed this out to us. They said that if we fought them enough, that it might sap their life energy and dry them out, so to speak. But I had to ask back... what if the power is coming from someone else? Such as... victims, slaves? These, individuals, are known to take slaves to work for them, for whatever purposes might suit them. Could they be using such a person as say... a magical energy 'battery'?"

She doesn't know magic, really at all, beyond being involved in and around it a bit more than the average civilian out there, living their mundane average lives.

"If that wer ethe case, then simply fighting them to drain them, might be an exercise of futility, and cost us dearly in attempting it."

John Constantine has posed:
"Could be," John allows after a bit of thinking. "Harder to do. Slaves turn into corpses and it's hard to hide corpses in this city for long, especially if they're burning through power as fast as they seem. I like to think I'd have sniffed some necromancy about but I miss a beat now and then, too."

He rubs his chin, eying the drink in front of him. "We could do a finding," he muses, and looks at Selene. "It's a ritual. Power like that, anyone with magic can sense it. So smart wizards put wards up, mystic circles to contain the power. Makes it more efficient, and hides it. It's a bit of a long shot but a finding might help us figure out where there's big lulls in the ley energy of the city. It could get us within spitting distance, maybe..." He purses his lips, phhbts. "Five blocks, give or take a few hundred meters?"

Selene Corvinus has posed:
Selene lowers her hand from the side of her head then back down to the table and around the base of her drink over the coaster with the motel's logo tastefully inlaid on th the face of it. "You'll forgive me if I have to trust you on this stuff, as most of what you just said slipped right over my head." She says with a soft smile for him. "But even with my limited understanding, that ultimately sounds like a nice option, and a good direction to take."

She pauses for a second before showing him another slight smile. "How much does that cost?" She asks, poking fun at his business prices, in a good natured sort've way. "And do you want to be paid in cash? Because it sounds like you're between mattresses right now, and might not have a way to store your payment." She further teachers the urban sorcerer.

John Constantine has posed:
"Told you. Five hundred a day, plus expenses. Today's day one," John tells Selene. "If you get me through this without getting shot, I won't charge you my hazard rates." He throws back his drink and gets to his feet, hands resting in his pockets. "I'll need a few things for the ritual to work. Won't take me long to collect them from the corner store." He tugs his nose, sniffing, and uplfits his chin at Selene before looking for whatever pockets she might have. "Er, don't suppose you could advance me the day's wage?"

Selene Corvinus has posed:
Selene's black leather jacket is resting draped over the back of the bench that she'd been seated on when John had come in. She'd kept it in her field of view and no one had gone near it anyway. "Of course." She says softly, taking another drink of her beverage before she sets the glass down and rises up to go retrieve it.

When she returns, she's putting the jacket on, it being a waist-length jacket, and not a leather trench coat like he'd seen her in previously. "We'll have to go to an ATM, which is likely near the store you need to go to, so it shouldn't be a problem. Finish your drink up though, if you'd like. These men are a threat, but not one that is immediately banging on my people's doorstep." Apparently she's not too concerned about the price he charges for his time.

John Constantine has posed:
"Don't trust me?" John's eyes dance merrily at the idea. Hands in his pockets, he sidles past Selene, deliberately taking a route that almost brushes them belly to belly as he sidesteps the stools at the bar. "Must be that wisdom that comes with age, eh?"

Once they're outside John digs in his pockets for another cigarette and lights up again. He inhales deep and exhales a plume through his nose. Two short coughs make the cigarette puff and wobble in his lips before he transfer it to his hand and clears his throat.

"So. Aside from dealing with those barmy gits with masks, how's things? Where's your sidekick, the little, uh-- Harley, wasn't that her name?" He holds a hand out about five-five off the ground. "I liked her. Spunky."

Selene Corvinus has posed:
"My business makes it impossible for me to place much 'trust' in anyone, really." She quietly comments right back to him as he finishes up and they head out after she fulfills her payment to the motel bar. Once back outside she glances about before looking to him as he lights up again, cigarettes not bothering her in the slightest. "A lot comes with age, wisdom likely the best of it though." She also admits as she motions to her black motorcycle parked not far away. "We can take that, if you're so inclined."

Another grin strikes across her lips at his remembering her association with Harley. "Harley Quinn..." Selene says with a soft exhale. "There's a woman who truly comes at you like a battering ram, but always leaves you with a smile--" She pauses. "Unless she doesn't like, then you're left in a far worse place than she found you... But, no, I haven't seen her in some time. I helped her out of Arkham once, but she managed to get herself back in there two or three times since then, now I've heard she's mostly moved out of Gotham. I'd be curious to speak to her again, but she's... quite the hellion, always on the move, as they say."

"My work has been my focus, as you can expect. Grueling, wretched, as it is. Though I do meet a colorful assortment of characters along way, so it's not all bad." She shows him a smile, after inferring that to be a compliment for him included.

John Constantine has posed:
John nods at the bike. "Beats the bus," he tells Selene, and moves to straddle the seat and put his hands on the handlebars. Selene's given an innocent look bordering on insoucient, then he rolls his eyes and scoots back obliginly for the vampire. He's been on enough bikes that he tucks his overcoat under his hips so it won't risk getting snared in the rear tire.

"Well if you see her, swat her on the arse and tell her John sends his love," the magus tells Selene. "Shame to see her locked up. Always got the sense with that gel there was something a bit more to her than the barmy cheerleader routine."

Selene Corvinus has posed:
Selene just lightly tilts her head to the side as he insinuates that he'll be the one doing the drive on the bike, then relents when he slides back on the seat. She doesn't comment on it, just shows a little smile as she moves to then slip herself on the bike as well and settles in.

"Her colorful persona is a representation of her inner pain." Selene states then as she starts the bike up with a rumbling roar of its engine. Then, she softly adds on to that. "That's my professional head-case diagnosis at least. But I'll pass the message on, and now you have me curious to try to track her down, as well..." She smirks then, and starts them off on the bike.

The sport bike starts to race down the Gotham streets, headed to wherever John directs in to her ear!

John Constantine has posed:
John wraps his hands around Selene's stomach and leans against her back. It's not far to the corner store, though John deliberately gives Selene bad directions at least twice while they navigate the maze of Gotham streets. Just to prolong the ride a bit. Gotham is very New England-- where you wanna get to is close, but you can't get there from here.

Once the goods are secured they head to the motel and John leads Selene to his room. The door looks quite ordinary until he opens it. Wards and sigils are engraved into the frame inside, incomprehensible but brimming with mystical power. He doesn't look back at Selene, but leaves the door open.

"I'm not inviting you inside," he remarks. Nothing's *stopping* her from entering, but John's trust of Selene clearly doesn't extend to voluntarily letting her into the threshhold he's built in the shitty little motel room. The table's swept clear of cigarettes, ashtrays, and discarded fast food wrappers, and John lays down a black tablecloth and several accoutrements with it. Candles are set at the various points of a pentagram. "Orright. Won't take me but a minute to finish the spell," he tells Selene. "This has to be held while standing under running water, so, be a gel and strip down and hop in the shower."

Selene Corvinus has posed:
Selene has learned enough about Gotham to suspect that he's likely giving her poor directions, but she hasn't learned enough to be entirely positive of that, so she plays along with it. She gets money from the ATM outside, while he goes in to buy what he needs, then she meets him and hands him the cash-- getting quite the funny comment from the elderly man about needing to get himself a 'sugar momma' like that.

Back on the bike, they head back to the motel and when he moves on inside she just struts up a few moments later. She stands in the doorway of his motel room and looks it up and down and around before she just walks though, without his invitation. "I'm not one of those kinds of Vampires. My line goes by similar, but different, rules. We're much fewer in numbers though, so it's a common misconception..."

As he works, she sits down on the arm of one of the motel table chairs and just watches him. When he gives those rather peculiar instructions, she tilts her head to the side. It takes her a second before she speaks back. "What, you're serious?" Even after six hundred years of 'living' some times she can struggle to tell between a joke and a really good pokerface.

John Constantine has posed:
John looks at Selene, pausing in his work. His shirtsleeves are rolled up to keep them from getting dirty, and he thinks over her question. "I figured I'd wait to see how you react before I told you it was a goof or not," he says, and grins with a merry twinkle in his eyes. r
The magus turns back to the work and sets the bowl down in the center of the table. "I need some quiet. This is sloppy ritual work and I need to focus to make sure it doesn't blow up in our face," John advises Selene. "Blimey I wish I had my proper ritual workings. Not easy doing this on the cheap."

He unrolls a map of the city on the table and sets the improvised censer over it. A Spongbob candy bucket grins at Selene from where it sways over the map. Smoke starts to issue from the container, and it's then Selene can hear a steady and determined stream of syllables whispering from John's lips. The room fills with energy, a prickling sensation somewhat akin to an electric current in the air itself.

Selene Corvinus has posed:
A little 'hiss' of a laugh escapes between Selene's lips, about as much of a laugh as one can ever hope to get out of the woman, or so it would seem. "You're terrible." she tells him as she rises up from her chair and takes a step away from the motel table to let him do his thing. She paces over to the dresser with the television on it and turns around to face his back, her arms folding across her stomach as she eyes him.

"Does this mean I get a discount, because you're giving me your work at a handicap that is out of my control?" She asks of him not having his usual setup to work with making this harder, and yes, she's just teasing him, druly to get him back for the shower part.

She does, however, quiet down and turn to softly step across the motel room on her heeled shoes to peer inside the bathroom, just to see what it looks like... the same as all motel bathrooms, ultimately. She mutters something about a 'take black light to this place' while letting her eyes roam about.

John Constantine has posed:
"Should charge you more for having to work this hard with shit I bought from the bleedin' market. Now shut yer gob," John mutters.

It takes about five minutes. Sweat abruptly stains John's forehead and chest and he leans over the map. The words become more insistent, forceful, as he harnesses the power of the universe with his raw willpower.

Smoke curls, rolls downwards unnaturally, and twists into a tiny little vortex. It twists and walks over the map several times. There's a flash of ignition from the censer that sends John twitching back to protect his eyebrows. He coughs and waves the smoke away. A window's cracked; John's clearly previously disabled the smoke detector.

"Okay, there we go," John tells Selene, and beckons her over. In the greater New York area, five locations in different boroughs. The blotches range in size from a football field to several city blocks. "It's still a fair amount of legwork, but it's a start," he tells her. John goes to the little fridge and digs out a beer. It's cracked with a spray of foam and he chugs heavily as if desperate for something to slake an ungodly thirst.

Selene Corvinus has posed:
Selene is quite capable of remaining perfectly silent when she wants to, and she does, for the most part. Her phone is out and she's tapping on it with the pads of her thumbs as she replies to texts and offers updates to some of her Lieutenants who have been waiting to hear from her... but her phone is silent, not even on vibrate mood.

She doesn't look up until there's something to watch, and her eyes are on him when he announces he's completed the work... This gets her to walk toward where he was, as they trade places in the motel room now, and she's standing in front of the table looking at the map.

Her phone comes up and she snaps a few pictures of it, glances at the window, then back down at the map. "Fascinating." Selene says. In six hundred years... she'd not worked very much with magic like this. She'd seen magick trinkets and met a few low-level witches, but, not sorcerer's like John. That was a park of coming to the United State's east coast... there's so much power localized here.

She looks back to him. "I'm sending this to my people. They'll go and start to search these areas. Does this mean the masks are 'turned off' yet?" She asks, for clarification as she takes an idle-random step while starting to text again.

John Constantine has posed:
"Blimey no," John tells Selene. "I'm just marking down where they *might* be. Magic's not a surefire solution to anything. It's gonna take some legwork from your people." He rummages his coat for a pack of cigarettes and a lighter, and does a dance of beer, lighter, and cig while lighting it. "I don't even know what those masks are yet. If they're ... enslaving the wearer, or they're powered by some bizarre battery of slaves. For all I know it's the bloody Tooth Fairies. I need more information before we can decide what the next step in the operation is."

Selene Corvinus has posed:
"Right. Fair." Selene says to him. "Magic novice here." She reminds him with a faint smirk before she drops her eyes again and sends the information to her Lieutenants. After a second she lowers her phone then and sits down on the edge of the chair beside the table, leaning back in it.

Her eyes are on him. "You don't have a phone, do you." She states with a growing grin upon her lips. "I'm going to have to get you a burner, John." She slowly shakes her head. "You're so pricey." She teases him, in that very dry and calm way of hers. "Otherwise I'll be forced to sit here and watch you drink yourself into liver disease."

There's a small pause then from her. "Thank you, though, for this." She sounds more sincere. "I can't imagine you enjoy working for a Vampire. You probably believe we deserve to be eradicated as much as those that I'm fighting, and I don't begrudge you for that."

John Constantine has posed:
"Know what happens to phones when you take them on interplanar jaunts?" John inquires. "I tried it once, had one of those old flippy ones back in the day. Fried it the first time I needed to dodge into the Fae realms for some ingredients. I've got a messenger service, it works fine for me and it'll work fine for you." He scribbles on a notepad near the phone and hands a number to Selene. He holds her gaze, falling silent for a second. "Selene, I know you're one of the Reformists. Trying not to treat humans as prey. I respect that. Cross that line and I'll toss you into traffic in the middle of the afternoon." It's a simple statement of fact, not a threat. "But I'm too broke and too jaded to turn down paying work right now. I help you get these blokes off the street-- I consider that a public service. And I don't mind who helps me make it happen."

Selene Corvinus has posed:
Her brown eyes are on him throughout his words. She just stares at him and soaks it all up, all of the 'John Constantine Experience'. In the end she just stands up and walks over to the notepad that he scribbled the number on and reaches down to take the note he made for her.

"You're an interesting fellow." She tells him then, looking over at him. "You still have quite a lot of youth in you, for a human, and yet you have a wealth of experience bouncing around in that soul of yours. It serves you well, and also seems to be a burden at the same time."

She flashes him a smile. He's right, she is a Vampire who doesn't crave humans, not any more at least. Not everyone in her Coven is as good at denying those urges though. "I'll be in touch, John." she says as she turns to walk toward his room's door. "We'll make sure you don't have to participate in any fights that may come from all of this too, I promise." Whether she can keep that promise though, is yet to be discovered.

John Constantine has posed:
Selene's perfectly capable of dismembering John on the spot, but his body language as she closes is fearless. Relaxes, amused, slightly intruigued. Lips twitch at the compliments from the immortal woman eternally in the summer of her adulthood.

"I get around. Call me when you've got something to work on."

Selene gets a few paces away when John makes a sound under his breath. When she turns, he looks up at her and shrugs unapologetically.
