The Golden Eagle Has Landed
Date of Scene: 19 November 2020
Location: Liberty Island
Synopsis: Peter and Yaretzi talk about Spider-Man and Golden Eagle.
Cast of Characters: Peter Parker, Yaretzi Acama

Peter Parker has posed:
It is late, but Peter Parker has ways of getting to places that most civilians can't go when the gates close.
One of them being the pavilion of the Statue of Liberty.

He had left Yaretzi a message to meet him outside the gate, though. No sense breaking any laws yet. The park area was quiet and peaceful.

And he figured Yaretzi had ways of getting there without the ferry...

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Yaretzi had to sneak out of the house, so to speak... though she just said she was going out, really. Her parents trust her, 'caues she's a good kid: doesn't get into trouble and keeps her grades up. It's not long later that Golden Eagle's flying in for a landing near the pavilion.

Stopping to hover just a few inches off the ground, she eyes Peter before looking about. "I guess there's no security cameras around here?", she says quietly -- but it's not hard to hear her, with that there's no one else about and the place is closed for the night.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter smiles wryly. "There are five of them, actually...but right now they are displaying a closed loop of about 15 minutes of me pacing the area, because of a hack I use fairly often." He points to a small device on a belt loop, with a timer running. "So we have a good half hour before any security comes by."

He takes a deep breath, then says, "You're...pretty impressive in person. And when it comes to getting into uniform, you've got me beat."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"Well... I end up not having a phone, or my ID or anything else, in the process. It all goes... well, I don't know where it goes, really, but at least it always comes back", Golden Eagle says, her feet touching down. "Why here, where there's a time limit? Could've met up anywhere", she wonders, hands on her hips.

The heroine is most definitely NOT Yaretzi. She's taller, for one thing -- but the shape of her face, the shape of her eyes, her overall frame and build. All of these differ, just as her voice is also different in tone and timbre. Her leotard-style outfit, being so nicely form-fitting, also makes it clear that it's NOT the teenager's body inside it.

In short, when Yaretzi's transformation happens, it seems she's not just magically growing up -- she's, literally, turning into someone else, even though her mind is clearly still her own.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter smiled wryly, looking up at the Statue of Liberty. "My uncle brought me here when I was younger. It seemed...appropriate. Plus it's wide open, and with a certain level of privacy."

He took a deep breath. "Would you rather 'dress down,' or would you prefer I dressed up?"

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle looks around, again. She's quiet, in thought, for a few moments. "I... don't really know too much about hacking cameras. I guess I just can't really trust that part of it all, even if you clearly do", she says, her tone apologetic even if she's not openly offering apology. "To be honest, I expected you to -be- dressed up", she admits.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter shrugs, then reaches up to unbutton his shirt.

His suit is rather easy to conceal. the sleeves stop just below the elbow, the legs at the upper calf, so there's no risk of the costume showing from under a sleeve or a pants-leg. He pulls on the thin boots, then the gloves with the webshooters, and finally the mask.

The backpack is somewhat ingenious - he simply turns it inside-out, the beat-up backpack becoming a red-and-blue one with the spider-symbol on the back.

And like that, within one full minute, he is Spider-Man.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"Well... you've obviously practiced that a lot!", is Golden Eagle's comment about the Parker-style quick-change. She started to turn away when he started unbuttoning... but as she realized he wasn't actually going to undress, she just watched.

"So... what now?", she questions -- obviously about how they rather stumbled into the information they've openly admitted to each other, at this point.

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man shrugged. "Well, I think that's kinda having the ball in your court. I figure your origin is your business, so I won't pry about it. And I figure you're not the type to chin-wag, either. But...I do have a few questions."

He takes a deep breath. "What do you plan to do with this kind of power?"

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"What I've been doing: helping people", Golden Eagle says, her hands falling to her hips. "I'm not a bad guy!", she adds -- and that her alter-ego is a teenager is evident in the tone of voice she just used.

"...I really just want to keep the promise I made, though. I don't want to let him down", she adds, glancing up at the stars.

Peter Parker has posed:
Let "him" down. There's something there.

If you want respect, you have to show some, first.
"My uncle...one of the wisest people I've ever known...told me that if you have gifts, you have to use them responsibly. That's why I do this. Because of him. Because having these gifts and doing nothing with them, it's...it's horrible."
He exhales loudly.
"I never said you were a bad person, Eagle. I'm positive you aren't. But would you like to be more effective as a hero?"

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"It was my great-grandfather, for me. He passed his powers to me when he was dying, and I promised him I'd do my best to be Golden Eagle, a hero like he was when he was young", the heroine replies. "And I sure as heck want to be as effective a hero as I can be. If I don't at least try to be, I'm not living up to the promise I made!"

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man nodded, smiling slightly under the mask. "Well, then you have some opportunities available to you."
He leans against a light pole. "If you want to stick to Harlem, look after your own, then I can help you. I use a special communication system called Spider-Comm, and you might be able to utilize it. It has its own database, an augmented-reality setup...and you'll be part of a network of like-minded individuals."
Another deep breath. "If, however, you feel you can do more...especially with the powers you have...I can try to set up a meeting with you and Supergirl. If you have similar powersets, she might be able to help you train and learn about your powers better than I can."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle's eyes widen. "Supergirl?!", she says. "Holy wow!" She lifts her hands off her hips, balling them into fists, clearly excited.

Then, the fan-girling ('cause that's definitely what that was, even if she didn't actually hop around on her toes and squeal, it sure looked like she wanted to!), comes to an end and she purses her lips.

"I don't know if I could use your Spider-Comm stuff. I don't have a phone, and if I'm carrying something, it goes away when I change, like I said. And, well, I'm strong, and I'm bulletproof, and I can fly... but from what I know about Superman and Supergirl, that's about all we have in common... and I betcha they're -way- stronger than I am!", Golden Eagle adds, her hands back on her hips by the end of it.

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man nods. "Well, I have a theory I want to test. You say you have things as Yaretzi, that go away when you are Eagle, and come back when you change back. Suppose I give EAGLE something that goes AWAY when you become Yaretzi, but come BACK when you become Eagle again?"

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle shakes her head. "That was one of the first things I tried. If I'm holding it or wearing it, and it wasn't part of -this- costume, I'm still holding it or wearing it when I change back", she says, one-handedly gesturing at her leotard-like outfit as she mentions it. "Don't matter how big or how small it is, either... though, honestly, I haven't tried changing back while holding up something really big or heavy, 'cause that'd probably be dangerous."

Peter Parker has posed:
Okay, it made sense that she would try it first. A little disheartening, but this sounds like magic, and magic and technology followed different rules.
"Ah, well...it was worth a try, I guess. I suppose I could send info to your phone when you're not Eagle, if you wanted to do that."

He smiled slightly. "Would you still like me to see about introducing you to Supergirl, though? I'm not trying to foist you off on her...it's just that you seem to have more in common with her than with me, and I don't want to limit you."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"Well... I guess sending things to my phone would be okay, but I'm really worried about that getting traced or tapped or something, and giving me away and risking my family", Golden Eagle admits, gesticulating with one hand as she speaks.

"Isn't she going to want to have a way to get in touch with me, too, though? ... Not that I'm saying 'no' to the idea of meeting Supergirl!", she says, the last added hurriedly as she lifts both hands to wave them about in a clear gesture of negation.

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey chuckles. "I can install an app on your phone that only you can use. Spider-Comm is TOTALLY covert. If the app detects any kind of trace, it'll remove itself as a security precaution. That is, if anyone could detect the network we use at ALL." He tapped his noggin. "Got more upstairs than just my hair, Eagle. But worst comes to worst, I'll act as a go-between."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
The heroine starts to pace back and fort a bit, clearly in thought. "I'll let you put that app on my phone on one condition", she says, holding up a finger. "You already talked to my mom once, and you probably already know where I live or you can figure it out easy enough. Show me where you live, so that I know you're on the level about this", she says. "Then you can be a go-between for me and Supergirl", she adds, lowering her hand.

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man smiles. "All right. "If you can give me a lift, I'll show you. We have to go to Forest Hills, in Queens." He points in the direction of Queens. "As the crow flies."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"Golden -Eagle-, not Golden Crow", quips the heroine, her tone of voice making it clear she's saying it as a joke as she extends a hand out to Spider-Man. "I've flown over Queen a few times, but I'm still learning how everything looks from the air", she adds. "Be sure to give good directions!"

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man takes Eagle's hand. "All right. I'll be sure to get help from Google."

The flight over is quiet, and Spider-Man points in precise directions, even helping show a flight path Eagle can use to stay close to cover and stay unseen, until they land in the backyard of 20 Ingram Street, Forest Hills, Queens.
It's a rather old house, a pre-war-boom cottage that is well-kept. The backyard is well-trimmed, with a wide wooden deck against the rear of the house.

"Here we are...the ancestral home of the Parker Clan."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle eyes the house. "I saw the name on the mailbox, but for all I know, there's lots of 'Parker' families in New York", she says. "I gotta see your room, see that you actually live here", she adds, seriously -- and she clearly -is- taking this seriously, the whole secret identity thing, to insist on that much. "You got a secret way in, or something?", she wonders, hands falling back to her hips as she asks.

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man chuckles. "Kinda, yeah."
He walks over to one corner of the deck, where an old-looking heavy punching bag sits. It looks heavy, too...five hundred pounds easy.

And then Spider-Man just...lifts the panel under the bag, lifting it up to reveal a stairway leading down.
"Mind your feet," he says wryly, before heading down into the basement of the house.
A rather effective hidden passage, one only the strong can enter.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle's feet come off the floor, her knees flexing a bit in the process as she starts to simply float... and heads on down into the basement. She does squint a bit, too, as she's heading down into the place that's darker than it even is outside at that time of night -- if noticed, this is clearly a sign that she lacks the ability to see in the dark... or maybe she's using some kind of super-vision that takes a little effort?

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey pulls off the mask, and Peter Parker looks around. "Well...welcome to the lab." He points out the mini-machine shop with the older machines. "Uncle Ben helped me bring those down."
He walks through the lab, taking the gloves and boots off. He opens a closet to take out a t-shirt and sweat pants.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle keeps squinting, for a bit, as she comes into the harsh glare of the flourescent lights, but eventually just looks around as her vision adjusts, her feet eventually touching down on the floor. "I thought your name's Peter", she says, gesturing at the HARRY'S HOVEL sign as Spidey starts dressing back down to be Peter, again.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter chuckles as he pulls the shirt on. "Harry Osborn. My best friend in the whole world. His father's the CEO of OsCorp. Treats Harry like crap." He yanks the pants on, sighing, then continues, "Harry comes down here to get away from his father. The couch has a hide-a-bed, so sometimes he sleeps here. He bought all that stuff over there. We play games and watch TV together...and he gets to feel normal for a day. He could go anywhere in the world, but he'd rather come here and hang out with me because I don't care about his money, and he knows that."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"Oh", Golden Eagle says, having been suspiscious of the name on the sign, until it's so easily- and well-explained away. Her eyes fall, then, on all the tools and such. "I guess this is where you make your gizmos?", she questions, moving over to take a look... without even starting to reach out to touch anything. He eyes -did- linger on the gaming console, then on the computer and its big monitor, a bit longer than on anything else in the room, before she focused on the micro-electronics station.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter nodded. "I do a lot of dumpster-diving for raw materials and equipment. Some good places to find that sort of thing, if you know where to look. Got that mass spec and spent ten dollars to restore it to good working order." He stops at the illuminated table, where a number of drawings of a vehicle in various stages of flux, and a few pictures of the ruins of a hospital, with a couple of trucks in the foreground, with disheveled women being marched into them by men with guns.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle follows over to the table, looking down at what's on it. Pointing at the photo, she asks, "What's going on here?"

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter eyes the photos. "Human-trafficking operation on Roosevelt Island that me and a friend busted up a few nights ago. I sent copies to the NYPD to add to their evidence on the case." He paused. "That's one of the things I think you should learn. How to handle a crime scene, how to dust for prints, how to look for clues. We're vigilantes, not officers of the law...so we have to help the police gather evidence that the legal system can make stick."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"Well, that stuff'd be cool to know, for sure", Golden Eagle says. "But how'm I gonna dust for prints? It's not like I can carry a kit with me or something, right?", she adds, lifting her hands into the air in a sort of shrug. "The looking for clues part, though, -that- I wanna get better at, natch."

Then, because she can't help herself, she finally gestures at the big computer monitor. "What's the resolution on that screen, by the way?", she asks.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter chuckles. "1080P. No games on that computer, though. It's what I do to write the code for various systems, like Spider-Comm." He smirks. "Can't ask Microsoft to build a program for a vigilante, could I?"

He looks around. "Until two years ago, my intelligence was the only strange thing about me."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"Oh... it's only been two years?", Golden Eagle questions. "It seems like Spider-Man's always been around, sometimes", she says... then she adds, "Cuatli."

The area around her fills with the 'electric smoke' Peter saw that day in the alley, though it doesn't have any effect at all on anything in the room, including the electronics -- even loose paper, if there's any around, isn't even fluttered.

When the mist of the transformation fades away, Yaretzi's already pulling her cellphone out of the back pocket of her jeans, unlocking it before offering it over.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter took the phone, looking at it. He smiles lightly, then takes it over to the computer and puts it on a pad connected to the computer with a USB cable. After a few seconds, it beeps and he picks it up again, bringing it over to Yaretzi.

The phone looks no different, but there is a new app, one titled INTERWEBS.

"If you press it, it brings up a web browser. If you press it and say, 'Teddybear,' you will see the interface for Spider-Comm come up. You can access the instant-message system, track alerts, even place secure phone calls to members."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Yaretzi eyes the new app, and taps the screen one, to start the app, then again to open the voice-command function, saying: "Teddybear." Then, she eyes what comes up next. "Whoa! That, like, totally replaced my phones' regular GUI!", she says.

Then she gets another look of 'Oh, I just got it!' on her face, and looks over at Peter. "Inter-*WEBS*, huh?", she asks, with a grin, before turning her eyes back to the new GUI on her phone, studying it.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter grins. "It functions as a VPN, so no one can decrypt it." He puts the mask on the computer desk, then the gloves with the web-shooters. "And it shouldn't slow your phone down at all. Worst comes to worst, you can choose a kill-switch word to erase the app via verbal command."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Yaretzi nods, and ponders for a moment, before tapping at the screen to close the app. "I'll figure out a kill command later, I guess. Gonna hafta figure out something that I won't say by accident, after all", she explains as she locks and re-pockets the device.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter nods. "Yes, best you do it by yourself. First rule of the kill-switch. Don't Tell Anyone About the Kill Switch."
He rubs his face, then says, "If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask. Use Spider-Comm for Eagle stuff. I'll let you know what Supergirl says. I think you'd like her. For someone who can fly at supersonic speed, she is remarkably down-to-earth." He winks.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"I can't break the sound barrier, myself", Yaretzi says, putting her hands on her hips. "I top about a bit over seven-hundred", she adds, looking over at the consoles. "Gotta admit I'm curious what kinda games y'all got there, but it's kinda getting late, now. I oughta get home before my parents decide I've been out -too- late, y'know..."

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter nods. "Well..if you want to come by and play games, or talk, or whatever, give me a call. I can introduce you to my Aunt May and she can serve you heaven on a plate. I can just tell her I know you from a Midtown High on a joint school thing..."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"Speaking of which....", Yaretzi says, sounding... sheepish, embarassed. "My mom's insisting I invite you over for dinner, some time. She wants to 'thank you properly' for having found and returned my phone", she explains, before saying "Cuatli!", again -- which causes the 'electric fog' transformation back to Golden Eagle.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter steps back a bit as she changes. He's seen it more than once, and it loses none of its visual potency.

"Well...far be it from me to turn down the invitation. Let her know I'm willing, as long as we can coordinate it."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"I'll let her know", Golden Eagle says, floating up the stairs to the 'secret entrance' -- which she has no trouble lifting aside as she makes her way out. "Adios!"
