Rooftop prowling
Date of Scene: 22 November 2020
Location: Starling City by night
Synopsis: The city would like chinese, please.
Cast of Characters: Thomas Blake, Thea Queen

Thomas Blake has posed:
Starling City is laid out like a sea of diamonds and neon, sparking in the night. It's an hour in the evening when no sane person would be out and about unless they were up to no good. Catman could fall into either of those categories, really.

He leans against the waist-high wall on the roof of an old apartment building, staring out over a few blocks worth of trendy shops and bars, all now closed for the night. He just finished a job, and his heart is still racing from the violence. A local drug dealer is going to be found beaten to a pulp very soon, unless he already has been. He was paid decently do to it. Plus, it was fun. The guy was a dick.

His brown cape flutters behind him. His sillhouette is a match for Batman, and one would have to get closer to make out the different colors and symbol on his chest. One has to wonder if the similarities are on purpose or not. He fishes a pack of cigarettes from his utility belt, but when he opens it it is filled with pre-rolled joints. "To a job well done," he grunts to himself.

Thea Queen has posed:
Thea, in the form of the red-hooded 'Speedy', has been looking for someone specific. Each night, she is running the city, up and down the sides of buildings, moving from rooftop to rooftop with something of an experienced air. It's becoming a little more effortless, and upon landing on a crested roof, she pauses as she moves to the edge of the building. She doesn't notice the pulp that had been a drug dealer, and honestly, if she had?

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Instead, Thea swings down a drainpipe to the ground, landing on the cracked concrete. She moves from door to door, though not furtively.. just, carefully. There is a pause as she catches movement, however; motion always brings attention, and blue eyes move up the side of a building, and her head quirks, brows rising.

Batman? What's he doing in-

Once again, Thea is on the move, and she's headed back up the side of a building, from window to window, jumping to a step-up, then back to pulling herself up. On her back is a bow, arrows.. and coming out of shadows, whether she's noticed or not, she's offering a greeting-

"Bat--" Oh.. it's not. Instead, however, of leaving, her eyes narrow. This is her city, and who the heck..

"Who are you?" comes from the thin, red-leather, hooded woman

Thomas Blake has posed:
Thea might move with incredible stealth and grace, but Blake's sense of smell is downright supernatural. He can smell her coming. He rolls a shoulder once she calls out to him, and he withdraws a joint from the pack. He lets it sit between his lips as he pats his belt and sighs.

"Catman. Got a light?" His voice is deep and pleasant, with a nice growl to the edge of his words. He turns to face her, cocking his head to the side. The name is known on the streets and in the criminal world. Catman is the nickname for Thomas Blake, a renowned and dangerous mercenary. Apparently he was a joke at one point, and vanished for a few years. WHen he returned he was dangerous, but honestly just as weird as he was befoe.

    "I dig the costume."

Thea Queen has posed:
Thea's outfit is very, very reminiscent of the Green Arrow's, both in style and fabrics. The hood is very much the same, the mask.. and at the question regarding the light, Speedy shakes her head. "Don't smoke. Not one of my vices. Never really cared for it."

A long pause is taken as she studies him, and there is that awareness as she finally recognizes him. To her benefit, she doesn't reach for any weapon, but the young woman does have a slight change in posture; she's wary, certainly.

"Yeah, it works. Why are you in Starling?" That's very close in tone and tenor to what may probably come next, 'and when are you leaving?'. To her benefit, however, it's not actually voiced.

Thomas Blake has posed:
He sighs and plucks the joint from between his lips. He tucks it away and slides the pack back into his utility belt. "Celebratory puff can wait," he growls.

He tugs the cowl on his costume back to let his tangle of blonde hair fall free around his handsome face. The costume is more of a trademark and less for his identity, anyways.

"Got hired for a job. A bad guy owed a less bad guy. So, I broke his legs and knocked out most of his teeth. Nothing big. He more wanted the swag of saying he hired a masked 'villain' to do the job for him." He smirks. "So, you know -my- name..."

Thea Queen has posed:
The 'big reveal' brings a slight smile to her lips; handsome, certainly, but there's just something there sitting in the back of her head. "I see," she begins slowly. "So now he's the bigger bad guy?" Shades of grey! "Giving someone a little more street cred," she drawls softly, a touch of amusement playing in her tones. "Noble."

Turning her head as if she's heard something, Speedy shifts her weight lightly, the smile not dropping. No mistake, there is still a wariness that holds her manner. "Speedy. Sounds dumb, yeah.. but... reasons." Thea shakes her head briefly and gestures with a red-gloved hand, "Not taking the hood off, though.."

Thomas Blake has posed:
"Like Catman sounds cool?" He smirks and brushes his fingers back through his hair. "Back when I used to rob banks with a robotic Lion the newspaper branded me with it. Couldn't shake it, so I just kinda leaned into it."

He shrugs his heavy shoulders and then nods. "Speedy. I like it." He glances aside when she looks away, following her gaze before he looks back to her.

"And I never said I was noble. But I do have a special love for kicking the shit out of guys who deal too close to schools. Jobs like that are my pleasure."

Thea Queen has posed:
Thea laughs, the sound actually warming and decidedly amused. "I remember reading about it," she admits. "Used to think the robot lion was cute." That's hardly enough to set fear through the cities.. a cute lion? Still, she's (obviously) a girl.

The compliment regarding her own name gains a lightening of her smile again. "Thanks. Not very scary, but then again? Not supposed to be. Not my job to come up and say 'Hi, how are you, my name is Speedy..'" Obviously, she's one that is more.. at a distance, given her bow and quiver of arrows.

Her gaze, now that he'd followed it briefly, is just for movement beyond. Rooftops. She thought she saw something, someone; there and gone a half a block down.

Thea's head cants, quirks, and a chuff of amusement exits the young woman. "Okay, noble." She's almost at the edge of teasing. Her tones shift slightly, and now she is curious. "You know who you got?" She's got a whole list of names, some of whom she knows better than others. "Dale? Christian?" Her head beneath that hood shakes again, and she murmurs, "They deserved it, either one."

Thomas Blake has posed:
"Dale, and yeah. He did. Guy even kicked his dog. That's why I knocked the teeth out. I was only hired to break his legs."

Thomas hauls himself up and sits on the half-wall around the side of the building, facing Speedy. "So, do you use trick arrows? Like the Green Arrow? Or are you more of a...straight through the heart kinda girl? No judgement, either way. Trick arrows sound -pretty- cool, though.

Thea Queen has posed:
Thea bobs her head in a nod, "Dirtbag," she agrees. "Worth it." A smile ghosts on her face once more, and she adds, "The city thanks you for that." Why can't she poke a little fun at her brother with all this?

Thea shifts a little and finds a spot to perch for herself; exits easily accessible should she want to make a quick departure. "Yes." It's an easy answer, and it rolls off her tongue without hesitation. "I don't rely on them, though." Green Arrow now has a decided reputation for -not- killing; maiming? Sure. Knocking the bad guys the hell out? Absolutely. But Thea? She finds it easier and easier to kill if necessary.. much to Ollie's chagrin.

"Sometimes the most direct is the best."

Thomas Blake has posed:
"Well, maybe the city could meet me up here another night to share a meal with me?"

He pauses, then adds, "Meaning you."

He chuckles and tucks some of his wild hair behind his ear. "Oh, I get it. Too many masks flinch away from ending a problem for good. You're smarter then they are, it seems."

He leans back and looks back to the street far below. "So, I'm gonna be renting a place in town. Just a hold-out. A crash-sometimes kind of place. Just making sure you know, since you seem to be the one who handles this turf. Better to play nice since I have more then enough enemies.."

Thea Queen has posed:
"Sure," and the word is out of her mouth before she can stop it. At least Thea doesn't try to take it back, and so, there it is. "The city might like that," Thea continues the jest, her tones softening to underscore the fact she is fully aware of what he means.

Rooftops aren't the best places for conversations, though, and she, too, takes a look at the street below before she looks to the opposite rooftops. "Welcome to Starling," the young woman in red begins, "It's not just me, though.. but I can put in a word with the others." In terms of 'handling the turf'. "I'm looking forward to you.. playing nice."

Now, she fully straightens and takes a couple of steps backwards before she turns to leave. Over her shoulder, she calls out, "See you later."

In the next few moments, where she had been? She's no longer..
