Date of Scene: 04 December 2020
Location: Main Room - Titan's Tower
Synopsis: Mantis meets some people of Earth!
Cast of Characters: Mantis, Siobhan Smythe, Hank Pym

Mantis has posed:
Mantis has never been on Earth before, and certainly never set foot on a weird structure like Titan Tower, so at the moment she's standing at the center of the Main Room, looking to and fro with awe. She seems fearful of moving, just in case she'll stand in the wrong place, or touch something she shouldn't. She keeps her arms crossed against her chest.

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
Walking into the main area, Siobhan is wearing a simple nightshirt and shorts. Her eyes going over to the refridgerator as she seeks out something to eat. She pauses though, blinking as she notices that there's someone else in here. She had heard Mantis, she hears most things, but she wasn't really paying attention or wishing to for that matter. When you hear so much, you tend to drown things out. She looks carefully at Mantis before pulling out a drink and raising it to her, "Hello." She states and starts over toward her, "Are...you a Guardian?"

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym is still getting used to the idea the titans seem to like him. He always has some dread he'll mess something up and it will get back to Nadia and Nadia... has a way of turning into a combination of Janet van Dyne and her mother at times. However, so far so good. he hadn't seen his daughter since they had words and he hoped to mend some bridges there. To hedge his bets, Hank carries a very large picnic basket. He has learned a powerful secret of these young people.

They get tired of pizza and don't know what else to eat. It's quite pitiful. In the basket are a large assortment of panini, wraps and other sandwiches.

Bing! The doors open and... there's an alien standing stock still and... Siobhan is her name and not really ready to receive company?

"Uhm, hello... concerned father here. It's Nadia's dad." Then he stops and stands still. Maybe he's interrupting prayer or something... alien.

Mantis has posed:
"Hello," Mantis is quick to adjust to English, it seems, though she offers a bit of a creepy smile at Siobhan, apparently her smiling is a work in progress. "That I am! Glad you have heard of us, so it does not need to be awkward. Thank you for your hospitalization." Okay, so maybe her English isn't quite that perfect.

"Oooohhhh," Mantis sounds as Pym walks in, before serving the role of a herald, she announces to Siobhan as no one else is currently in the room. "The Father of The Nadia has arrived!"

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
Looking to Hank, she twitches a little. She isn't sure about more people she doesn't know. Two is a lot at this point. She just nods to him before looking to his basket, "Concerned about what?" She asks and then looks to Mantis with a wide blink, "Umm, what do you..." She then sighs and shakes her haed, "I see that." She then licks her lips softly, "Thanks. You are new to English, I take it? Is there an easier language for you?"

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym goes over to the counter and begins removing food from his basket. "Oh you name it. I'm concerned in general. Is she eating right? Is she sleeping? What gadget is she working on now? Is she safe? Would either of you like a sandwich? I made a ton. If Dr. Fairchild isn't cooking you guys are likely to live on take out. I guess Nadia is not here. She'd be diving into this basket if she was." He leaves the bulk of the sandwiches in the carrier which he seals. Then he regards Mantis intently.

Mantis might overload on curiosity.

Mantis has posed:
"Are you comfortable conversing in Kree?" Mantis offers a widely known language, at least from where she's from. This time there's a brighter, more welcoming smile on her face, as if touched by the gesture to speak a language she's more comfortable with.

She then turns to look over at Pym.

"This one is very fascinated," Mantis remarks as she takes a step towards Pym, her antennas glow in a dim white light.

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
A look over at Hank and she blinks before nodding, "I haven't seen Nadia nor can I answer any of dose questions but I appreciate the food all the same." She walks over to take a sandwich before looking over at Mantis. She gives her a shrug and then bites into the sandwich, swallowing it down quickly enough.

"I do not know. Speak a few sentences of it. If it is a language, I will learn it." She nods her head, "I'll know it within about twenty or thirty seconds." She states simply enough.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym shrugs. "I don't speak Kree. My languages are all local. But I'll be fine go ahead with your Kree." He gives Siobhan a slight nod as she accepts his food with appreciation. Fascination growing... "I've had a few bad dealings with aliens in the past but you seem very nice. My name is Doctor Hank Pym. Doctor is my title. You may call me Hank." He extends a hand to her tentatively. It's best to let the alien come to you, while you assess their intentions.

Mantis has posed:
<<That is a unique ability and most prized if true,>> Mantis speaks some very alien sounding Kree, while looking keenly at Sio, wondering if she could truly learn from listening. But as soon as she hears Hank doesn't speak it, she blushes, and bows apologetically in his direction, "it was rude of me to speak the language of the unknown! This one apologizes!"

Mantis beams and straightens her posture at being classified 'nice', "you are very kind to call me so after giving you a rudeness! Thank you! I am called Mantis!" She curtsy with a flourish, before whispering, "this one is pleased to meet Hank." She then turns to look at Sio expectantly, as if waiting for her name.

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
A blink at the way she speaks and a hmm is given to Mantis before she shakes her head, "I'll need more dan dat." She states and then parrots back what Mantis said, directly back at her. Except with that Irish Brogue still in tact, "I can say da words but I haven't yet caught da meanin'." She nods again before she turns her gaze to Hank. "I t'ought you and Nadia were super smart. Ye mean ya haven't built a translation box or somet'in' by now? My phone can almost do dat pretty well, dough it isn't nearly as impressive as my ability."

Mantis has posed:
Mantis' black pool of eyes widen as she hears Siobhan's exchange with Hank, gasping, "you are an evolved communicator?"

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym lets his hand drop and bows. "Why not let Siobhan, learn Kree? That way if you have a problem with English, you can tell her what you mean in Kree? And I didn't think you were rude trying to communicate. Believe me, if someone is rude to me i let them know it. Mantis, this is funny... I used to call myself Ant-Man. Ants are prey to an insect we call a praying mantis. I can show you a picture if you want."

"You Titans, America outdoes me with her wormhole punches and now you're a Universal Translator? Sheesh. Bad enough Nadia is hacking my tech all the time and Lang stealing it. How's the sandwich." Maybe a little wounded pride in that but genuine love sort of drowns it when he mentions his Nadia. Apparently her friends get collateral affection.
