Cast of Characters: Matthew Murdock, Danny Rand

Matthew Murdock has posed:
It'd been awhile since Matt and Danny had met up and even if Elektra hadn't walked into his his life again bringing ninjas with him, Matt would have reached out to the so-called 'barefoot billionaire' just to keep in touch. However now there was more reason to connect.

So some hours and a phone call later, Matt was seated in Genghis Connie's restaurant in Harlem. A spot Luke had recommended, for a bit of dinner and a private chat. To facilitate the latter part, Matt had chosen a table at the back of the restaurant one where he could sit with his back to the wall, and there he sat, sipping the tea they'd laid out for him on the table.

Danny Rand has posed:
"Genghis Connie? Yeah Sure."

Pretty much exactly how that conversation on the phone went. Danny was actually in a board meeting at the time, so it was a very....VERY welcome intrusion. He walks into the restaurant dressed in his three piece suit, looking around for his friend until he spots him and approaches. "Matt! Good to see ya man. How've you been? Lawyering still everything its cracked up to be?"

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Giving no indication he's aware of his friend's presence until Danny calls out his name, Matt lights up at the other man's voice. "Hey Danny," he greets in that subdued tone of his. "Catch you at the office?" he asks trying to sound like he's guessing if anyone else is listening, but he's told Danny and the other Defenders about his abilities, so it's a safe bet he can 'see' the suit.

"It's got it's ups and downs," he says of the lawyering business. "How about you? Still saving corporate America one board meeting at a time?"

Danny Rand has posed:
"Eh, not really. It was just during a hyper-boring board meeting. Trust me, you more like gave me the best excuse possible to get my sorry behind out of dodge. Though Chinese food? You know how to speak to the heart, buddy." Danny shrugs a little bit before he lounges in its chairs.

Apparently Danny was doing his 'day job' as it were. Otherwise, he shrugs.

"Well, good to have it in the event that one of us finds ourselves in jail....again." Danny smirks at Matt. All the same, Danny nods. "Something like that, yeah. Though truth be told I'm happy letting Ward or Joy run my company while I pertain to...other hobbies." being the Iron Fist, really.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt smiles warmly, "I was mostly joking, I can tell you and your day job don't get along that well," he says before the waitress comes by to pour Danny some tea. As she does, Matt says to Danny, "You're going to have to order for us, can't understand the menu," he jokes lightly meaning he can't see it at all.

Once all that's been handled, he nods, sighing. "Sort of leaving a lot of the firm to Foggy these days," he says with regret. "But my night job is heating up, which is why I wanted to touch base," though his tone gives the truth of it, he was just happy to see the other Defender.

Checking for signs anyone might be listening and finding none, Matt leans forward to ask, "Remember when you told us about the Hand?" he pauses and then continues. "They might be back in the city."

Danny Rand has posed:
Danny chuckles. "Are you in the mood for chicken or more the noodles? I recommend the Shrimp Lo Mein." He smirks a bit at Matt, not that the other fellow is going to be able to see it, but...

He nods then. "Touch base on the night job, huh? What for, you need any help?" Of course, perhaps out of all the Defenders, Danny was the most willing to help out a brother (or sister, in Jessica's case). Though Luke was also pretty reliable.

"The Hand?" Danny leans forward then, having said the name in a whisper. "You are absolutely certain?" Of course, it'd be no secret to Matt that Danny had been investigating leads for some time.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"Can't go wrong with noodles," Matt offers easily. Clearly there was more on his mind than food and when they get into the topic at hand it's clear why.

Ther'es a smile when Danny is ready to jump in sight unseen. He was a good man in a way most of the Defenders weren't, even Matt. Then it gets down to the Hand. "Wondering if you can tell me," Matt answers pulling his phone out of his pocket and swiping three times through the pictures, to what he hoped was the picture he wanted. It is, some sort of antique vase, stoneware, with asian writing down one side, one symbol more prominent among them all, the emblem of the Hand.

"I recovered this from a warehouse the other night, they were using local crooks to smuggle it in, and it sounds like it's just the first piece. This look like their work to you?"

Danny Rand has posed:
"Hah, well said!" Danny invites over the waiter and orders he and Matt some lo mein, with of course some crab rangoon and each preferred drink, in fluent Mandarin, which seems to be appreciated by the owner considering the enthusiasm for which he answers.

His eyes narrow when he sees the antique vase, his hand reaching to stroke the light amount of facial hair he possesses. He notices the symbol on the side of the vase, the symbol of the Hand.

"Yeah. It does. I'm not entirely sure why they would want the vase for, unless something important was inside it or they needed it for a ritual. But...that has the Hand written all over it, short of a hand print."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
What Danny orders for them sounds good, and it reminds Matt's stomach that he'd skipped lunch, causing it to rumble slightly, though Matt's focus is on the topic at hand. Heh, hand...

"Yeah, they had a couple of men guarding it, they were good, tough, but we got it out," he take a sip of his tea. "Yeah, ritual," he agrees. "That's what we thought too. There was a paper in the vase as well, a friend of mine has that, but it mentioned something called a Black Sky, do you know what that is?"

Danny Rand has posed:
Danny nods softly to Matt, even hearing the slight grumblings of the Daredevil's stomach...which just makes Danny laugh a little bit to himself. All the same, he eventually narrows his eyes suddenly when Matt mentions the Black Sky.

"...You are absolutely certain it said 'Black Sky'?" Well, of course Matt would. He wouldn't say so otherwise. Danny takes a deep breath before he speaks again. "The Black Sky is the ultimate weapon of the Hand. I haven't been the Iron Fist long enough to know exactly what it can do...but its not anything to take likely from an organization thats been behind most of what we normal people call 'disasters'." He shakes his head.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt makes an apologetic face for the rumbling stomach which he knows Danny can hear, then he's all business.

"As sure as I can be, I didn't read the text myself but I trust the person who did implicitly," at least in this, there were a good many things he didn't trust Elektra about outside the Hand however.

He moves along, there would be time to think about Elektra later. "The Black Sky is a weapon?" he asks, before he gets to the main reason for concern, "And what sort of disasters?"

Danny Rand has posed:
Danny nods softly to Matt for a long moment, though he has very much so no bloody clue about Matt's connection to Elektra or her involvement. "Black Sky is -the- weapon for the Hand. They spend ages trying to make it, or at least as I understand it from the monks of K'un-Lun. All the same, its dangerous. I don't know what it is...but its better to take it out prematurely than wait for whatever it is to be ready."

"Disasters? Well...Pompei is a good example." Well...shit.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Well shit indeed. "Pompeii?" Matt says lips drawn into a thin line before he lets out a long breath. "Right, so we need to stop them as soon as we can," he says. As for Elektra, he'd intentionally kept her name out of things, but given the circumstances... "You, my friend and I should all meet up. She has more info than I do and I think with all three of us working together, we have a decent chance of stopping them. I'll reach out try to put something together."

Danny Rand has posed:
"Yeah." Danny nods in confirmation that they need to stop what the Hand is planning as soon as humanly bloody possible....if thats even possible that this point. However, he does tilt his head for a moment at Matt.

"Your friend? You have friends outside the Defenders? I'm so proud of you, Matt." Danny teases Daredevil very carefully, but then again Danny's always been someone who jokes and jokes easily. "Sounds good all the same. Set up a meet, yeah? I'll be there."
