It's not always weird when the trees talk to you...
Date of Scene: 13 December 2020
Location: Exterior - Titan's Tower
Synopsis: Groot and Siobhan meet, much is discussed, very little is said.
Cast of Characters: Siobhan Smythe, Groot

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
She'd been having a rough time of it. Siobhan had been attacked by a friend (sorta, alternate dimension version) and had to basically kill her own mother. Sure, she got her brother back but now, worse, the Banshee was even more vocal and annoying. So, sometimes she just wants to get away from things and now she's taken herself out and away from the tower on to the island's more natural area. Sure, that natual area has been somewhat disturbed by a spaceship but she's a little ways away from that, too. How is she calming herself, you might ask? Well, she's gotten a hold of some special herbs from a friend and is currently smoking them. Normally, such a thing would calm her way down but right now it's just kinda making her feel a bit more normal.

Currently, the sun is setting in the distance as the city also seeming far away from the island changes shifts.

Groot has posed:
Groot is slightly restless. The damage that humanity is doing to the planet frankly bothers him but not enough to go out and blow up power plants. Frankly, despite Star Lord's ties to the planet, he'd just assume repair the ship and get out of here. Sure, there are nice people, but it isn't Home or even close to Galactic normal. Renfairs are nice to visit. Wouldn't want to live there and its approaching live there territory. As it is, he's walking around trying to get a chance to calm down about the place, exploring the island, and enjoy the flora and fauna.

As he wanders about, he sees Siobhan and senses her not QUITE distress and heads in her direction. Long experience has taught him that helping others with their problems can help him focus less on his own. Granted, the communication problems might causes issues there, but Groot is a stalwart stoic. He walks up next to her and says, "I am Groot."

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
A blink and she is a bit surprised. She has heard that the Guardians are here and she's met two of them but...this is a walking talking plant. A big tree seemingly. She is surprised enough to nearly fall over. She doesn't but, close. She stares in a blinking eyes and she feels an oddness in her head. She heard him say, clearly, 'I am Groot' and yet something seems off about those words. For someone like her, it's a realization that there's more going on there. She, all the same, replies with a return of the greeting in a similar way, "I am Siobhan." She staets simply enough and idly pulls a harder draw.

Groot has posed:
Groot says, "I am Groot." The inflection is definitely weird and more off than most of the beings she communicates with. It is further odd in that it is said with an ernest intent to communicate but no expectation of understanding. Still, hints of the intent there are that he is both polite in what he says and that he is NOT saying the same thing over again, and it MIGHT be, "pleased to meet you" but it is definitely off and more of a stretch of her linguistic abilities than she might have encountered before."

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
There's another blink and she closes her eyes. She was certain he had just said 'I am Groot' and nothing more. However, while her normal human mind portion was hearing what it heard and assuming that was all there was to it, her powers were informing her otherwise. So, by the time he finishes his second 'I am Groot' she is feeling a little dizzy. It's the first time this has happened. She normally hears chittering, strange words, etc. and knows not to try to understand that. She'll understand it normally after a while. Now, her mind is telling her that this is certainly not English.

She sucks in a breath and then looks at him before tilting her head and responding, "I am Siobhan." However, this time Groot might be in for a surprise. As rather than her literaly saying it, she's saying it back in his own tongue. To anyone else she just said what she said. However, Groot would understand, "I think I understand. Keep talking."

Groot has posed:
Groot is pleasantly surprised and smiles. "I am Groot." Only the most powerful or enlightened minds can typically understand him. Or Rocket. But he techniqually qualifies for that even if he doesnt 'act' like it per se. Groot knows better. Almost anyone can understand him over time...but it typically takes a lot of time and he wouldnt have expected humans to really get it quickly. But he understands Metahumans have different rules.

He conveys a whimsical complicated meaning, that is designed to enhance understanding. Its both more esoteric and easier to understand, the equivalent of a telepathic tounge twister that does and doesnt have meaning, that is a joke and has meaning unto itself. "Round the Rock the Rugged Rascal Ran" but at the same time doesnt mean anything of the sort which is what makes it funny.

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
The girl blinks and then chuckles even as she shakes her head and she responds in Groot's tongue, smiling as she does. It's even as if she were a large tree person as well. Somehow creating the sound as if it were coming from a hardened layrnx. "Thank ya, Groot." She states simply enough, "I appreciate ya makin' it easier for me wit' dat." She adds and somehow, despite all logic, she still manages to put her Irish Brogue into Groot's language. Either way she watches him carefully and tilts her head, "I assume you're wit' da Guardians?"

Groot has posed:
Groot says, "I am Groot." (It is always a delight to run into someone who can communicate properly. It is very nice to meet you. The accent is interesting and very unique. I am, in fact, with the Guardians though I find the term as hilarious as the joke I just told you. What exactly do we guard? Certainly not the galaxy. Who would want that job? And I presume you are with the Titans?) He sweeps a large hand over to the large building nearby."

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
A laugh and she shrugs as she nods her head to the tower. Siobhan simply responds, "I am Siobhan." (It seems me accent is followin' me no matter what language I speak in. May be just who I am, may be a joke in and of itself. Eit'er way, it seems like ye at least are tryin' to do da right t'ing, yeah? I personally am not sure I'm all that much of a heroine myself.) She then shrugs and lets out a breath before looking out toward the setting sun again and finishing off the joint she had, looking at it briefly and then shrugging as she pulls out a small metal box and puts what is left inside.

Groot has posed:
Groot says, "I am Groot." (I do hope I dont sound like an Ent. I mean, the fictional characters from that movie seem nice, but not all tree like beings are slow and ponderous. I am more than willing to shoot an asshole quite quickly thanks. And I am not a 'hero' either, I simply shoot assholes or people that mess with me or my friends." He stretches a moment, looks at the sunset himself, enjoying it, and looks at her, "Something seems to be bothering you. Is it related to the contents of the box?)

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
A smile down at the box and she shakes her head. She really didn't expect all that from the tree but then she responds, "I am Siobhan." (No, it's not the box. It's because, well, I have recently had to do and endure dark things...and becuase...I don't feel like a heroine.) She then looks at him before finally she looks forward and her eyes light up, like they were burning with a blue flame deep within and her face transforms into a full skull face, running down her body. Her body taking on a black shadowy look with white boney highlights along her arms, hands, legs and feet. She doesn't even breath anymore, just looking like some undead creature. A banshee. The banshee in some ways.

Groot has posed:
Groot says, "I am Groot." (I have had to do criminal things before, and enjoyed them. But I do more good than evil. The universe is a big complicated place, but sometimes talking can make it worse and sometimes it can make it better. He nods and isnt judging since, frankly he has seen much weirder or worse. Now she is just 'slightly different variety of humanoid.' He can sense the 'death' element and while that is the antitethsis of what he is, he doesnt find that any more disturbing than he might running into a hearse or going to a funeral. "I am Groot." (I dont find your mein distrubing but I understand why you might worry about the judgement of others. I generally find that such people are rarely worth the time it takes to worry about it. In space, there are so many races you run into as you travel that it takes something far more dire to disturb any but the most snarfknocker of people.)

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
Strangely, that brings a smile to her skull face. She turns her gaze to him, looking at him with that and then she looks forward. She takes her eyes up and raises up to his level, literaly. Her body floating up off the ground and she takes one of those boney hands and casually reaches out to try and touch the side of his face, "I am Siobhan." (T'ank ye for dat, Groot. I truly appreciate it even as my inner demons scream.) She nods her head and then looks out at the finally remenants of sun and shakes her head, "I am Siobhan." (I simply have trouble wit' t'ings. I can eat da essence of ot'ers. Consume deir very being and bring it into myself. I had to do so to me mot'er in order to stop her from doin' it to ot'ers.) She frowns and shakes her head.

Groot has posed:
Groot says, "I am Groot." (Everyone in the Guardians has a troubled past, including me, I'd be the worst kind of hypocrite if I judged you for that. I am glad that you have found my words able to bring you a small amount of peace. And your mantle seems to let you talk to me, so, like most things, is a two sided credit. Eating the essence of others is something that can be a problem, but that is not something that makes you evil. Having to do so to a quantum reflection of your mother) since some inherent concepts are conveyed by the way they are spoken and there is a reason his people are such good scientists, (can be troubling, but you did what you had to to defend your own. It is good that it troubles you. It would be more disturbing if you didnt worry over it. But do not worry TOO much, since that brings victory to those who frankly do not deserve it.) He sits down and leans against a nearby rock.

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
The now banshee looks at him and then floats back down when he sits down. She, however, chooses to land on the rock he is leaning on, sitting atop it and keeping her form. She stares off into the distance and nods, "I am Siobhan." (I am not sure it is so simple for me to just...not worry. I lost me mot'er twice in my life. My da, too.) She shakes her head and sighs as she lets out a breath and looks into the distnace and then looks back toward the tower. Her inner demon quiet for the moment before she looks again out into the distance and frowns, "I am Siobhan." (I'll just have to do what I can for dem, I suppose. Dey might need someone who can do what must be done from time to time. Even if it is not something I wish to endure.) She nods her haed.

Groot has posed:
Groot says, "I am Groot." (Not worrying would be weird too. Rationally realizing something is not the same thing as understanding you are going to experience pain about it. Understand the pain but understand the pain is not just. I am sorry you lost your parents. And that subjectively you lost your mother twice. That is more than anyone should have to bear. I find it can help to help others when I dont want to dwell on my problems. But it sounds like you are doing the best you can. In the end, thats all anyone can do." He moves his hand out reassuringly.

Siobhan Smythe has posed:
Smiling, as best she can in her current form, Siobhan looks down at Groot and then up at the sky again as the stars begin to come out, as best they can. They are near enough to the city that the stars don't stand a lot of chance. Siobhan shifts her hands back to lean against them. "I am Siobhan." (Well, dat's enough about dat den. I don't believe I wish to speak more about my pain. What about you, Groot? What are you up to?) She asks and looks down toward him, tilting her head to the side. SHe had kind of stolen the conversation.

Groot has posed:
"I am Groot." (It is the inherent right of all sapience to stop talking about something they want to, so I approve and applaud your desire to do so. I was on a walk to distract myself and talking to you very much helped me do that. I want to repair the ship, though I suspect my friends are not in as much of a hurry as I am. There is nothing stolen about it, I enjoy talking about most anything especially on the rare occasion when I am actually understood.) He smiles warmly and motions to the bay, and the near setting sun, "I am Groot." (Despite the way humans treat the planet, it is still a beautiful one.)
