Millicent Keller has posed:
You'd think that by now, all the capes running around NYC would have solved crime. That crooks by now would have figured out that this is just not the sort've place you go to get up to no good, but still they come. In this case it's a break in, of a pawn shop no less. A trio of would be hoods have hurled a cinderblock through the window and proceeded to force their way inside, with just one ski-mask clad idiot standing outfront with a chromed out glock in one hand. "Come on guys, hurry it up!"

The Free Lancer wasn't exactly on patrol per se, if only because she's still getting her bearings. That and finding secure discreet parking is a hell of a thing, I mean really don't ask what she was paying in parking fees. Anywho she hears the break of glass well enough, and it's better than kickin rocks right? So she slips through the shadows, before making her way out of a nearby alleyway and onto the sidewalk. A moment's spent just watching, before lifting a gauntlet to knock-knock-knock against her chest plate. Stepping out into the dim street light as she hoists that sword up to rest against her shoulder.

Ok maybe not a knight in -shining- armor, because that set of full plate is cast in bone white. A short dark blue cape fastened at her shoulders and running to just above her waist, but it's the sword that causes the mook with the pistol to freeze in place. You don't see a real two handed great sword every day, nearly six feet worth of dull white sword with a length of dark blue silk left to hang haphazardly from the pommel.

"Pardon me sir, it would appear you've made something of a tactical error. Perhaps you'd like to cast your arms down and submit to the mercy of the law, otherwise I fear I'll be obliged to hurt your feelings. Just fair warning, of course."

Karolina Dean has posed:
"I know, I know! Can you believe there's an essay due the first day back to class? Yeah, no, I'm out getting some coffee at that all-night place... what? No, no, I'm not doing the double-spaced twelve-point font nonsense. If he wants a paper, he's getting a paper worthy of--hold on, is that a -sword-? I'll call you back, yeah, see you next year..." Karolina's voice comes down the sidewalk, the blonde talking on the phone. It's certainly an odd hour of night to be out for a walk, especially in the winter chill, but she's here. She's bundled up, too. Warm boots, fur-hooded coat, held snug and tight and there's some colorful mittens on her hands that match the pom beanie on her head.

"I'm sorry... was I interrupting something?" she asks, drawn over by the sword, then noticing the gun, and finally doing the math when she sees the broken window. She sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose between her mitten-covered fingers and thumb. "...hey, you know, there's a coffee shop like two blocks away... Christmas was literally like, two days ago, come on, someone probably, like, pawned their wedding ring in here to get presents for their kids and is gonna come pick it up after their bonus check clears... just... -really-?" the woman asks, incredulous.

Millicent Keller has posed:
"Nobody likes a criminal with no ambition, they should know better than to rob their peers."And a half turn to fix Karolina with a faint golden glow from behind that slitted visor. Finally extending an armored gauntlet, palm up. "I do apologize, but I'm afraid I can't verywell work for free. For the price of a penny, it'd be my pleasure to put a stop to things. Old fashioned I know, but rules are rules of course."Nevermind the armor, or the great big sword.
The hood with the pistol just freezes for a moment, seemingly more confused than intimidated. Soon joined by one of his compatriots, a PS4 under one arm and a hatchet in the other. Mr.Axe is of course drawn short, just as absolutely baffled as his comrade. This isn't how capes act, is it?

Karolina Dean has posed:
"Oh, a penny? Um. What if I bought you a cup of coffee?" she gestures vaguely down the street some. "I don't carry cash. For, well," she then gestures vaguely at the seemingly multiplying goons in front of the pawn shop. Karolina seems to totally disregard the fact that they're armed, that Millicent is wearing an honest-to-goodness suit of armor, and that her nice coat is probably worth as much as that PS4 got pawned for. "Reasons," she says with a shrug. "I mean, I could get us coffee, and then get some cash back... I do like to tip well, if I can..." she says with a bright and cheerful smile.

Millicent Keller has posed:
"A cup of coffee is more than enough, thankyou."She gives a little nod, withdrawing that gauntlet before turning her attention back towards the hoods. Slowly she lifts that sword off her shoulder and gives her shoulders a roll. Then she's off like a shot, closing the gap in just the blink of an eye. Dashing right into the gunman as one hand rises to grasp that pistol, before driving her right elbow into his stomach hard enough to lift his feet off the ground and send him tumbling down the street in a heap.

His compatriot dumps the PS4, before taking a half step forward and raising that axe above his head. Another half turn and she rolls that blade over to rest upon her free gauntlet before extending for a lunge and pausing just a hair from the poor fellow's throat. "You can die a warrior with axe in hand, or leave a coward. Your decision entirely."Clatter goes the axe against the concrete, before the hood simply takes off. Followed shortly by a third, empty handed of course. The pair seem content to leave their comrade crumpled up on the sidewalk of course, honor amongst thieves only goes so far.

Karolina Dean has posed:
"Oh, good! This place is open all night, you usually get a lot of students--" Karolina pauses, watching the knight in not-so-shining armor just take off, like a bolt. She lowers her arms, "Huh..." she muses aloud, just watching all of this happen. Then slowly, she starts to approach the crime scene. "Oh, wow. That was awesome!" she laughs, clapping her mitten-covered hands together with a soft 'fwhup fwhup fwhup' sound. Then she peers at the man on the ground. "Do you think you broke anything? The cops are probably going to be here soon. All of these places have silent alarms... you can't be a pawn shop in New York without one. No, seriously, it's a legal requirement," she nods matter-of-factly.

Millicent Keller has posed:
"Oh most deinitely he will require a hospital stay, but he'll live."Casually nudging the dropped PS4 with an armored boot, before turning her attention back towards Karolina. "Waving a gun around during a robbery has consequences, and now maybe he'll think twice yes?"That great sword is hefted back onto her shoulder, before she even thinks to offer her gauntlet over. "I'm called the Free Lancer, a pleasure to be in your service. Please though do lead on, afraid I might not be welcome inside the establishment for obvious reasons."

Karolina Dean has posed:
"Oh! I'm Karolina," the blonde says with a happy smile, then just laughs. "...they've seen worse. I've seen cosplayers and theater kids in there at the late hour..." she shakes her head, then gestures to the sword. "And as far as that goes... hmm..." she considers, then pulls the rainbow ribbon out of her hair, that's been keeping it up in a loose pony. It cascades down her back, a waterfall of brilliant gold, "C'mere..." she offers, then if allowed, ties the ribbon on the sword's pommel. "Peace bound. Just keep it out of the way, okay? And you can keep that," she nods to the ribbon then gestures forward, gingerly stepping over the fallen robber and heading down the sidewalk.

Millicent Keller has posed:
"No need, and I don't think gifting a warrior your hair ribbon means what you think it means."Theres a raised Gauntlet, before attending to that sword herself. The whole blade glows subtly pale silver, before splitting into a pair of long bone white needles. Well two foot is plenty long for a needle, right? Casually she takes the pair in one hand, before running that length of blue silk through her belt and simply letting them hang off her waist. "I'm not the sort to pick a fight without due cause, with or without payment. Please though, lead on."

Karolina Dean has posed:
Though her hair is now down, she doesn't seem to want to take the time to tie it back up. She blinks at the words, though, "Wait... what do you mean? Gifting a knight my hair ribbon?" she asks, not sure how medieval etiquette works, but the assumption she makes mentally has her cheeks alight with pink. Then Karolina watches the sword dissipate, and nods, "...that is really handy... being able to just... make your weapon shift like that..." she says, smiling. She's not weirded out or anything by it, for whatever reason, and nods, leading the way to the place for the coffee. "It's just a couple blocks this way."

Millicent Keller has posed:
"I've fought in plenty of tournaments for much less, and to merely give it away would be considered a rather overt gesture for certain."Gauntlets coming up to grasp at the sides of that breastplate if only to have a place to park them, though she does seem quite content to trail precisely three steps behind and to the left. "Last time I carried another Woman's ribbon on my armor, we were dramatically more.."And well she pauses, humming for a moment as she searches for just the right word. "Complicated? Lets go with complicated, that fits."

Karolina Dean has posed:
"Oh..? Oh..." Karolina does the math in her head, stuffing her mittened hands into her own jacket's pockets. "Oh! OH!" she laughs, cheeks still tinted dark now. "I understand. Well, I hardly know you, so... I'll keep my ribbon to myself from now on..." she says, trailing off, then glances over her shoulder, "...for now. And... besides..." she sighs and looks forward again, shaking her head. "I know complicated. I am complicated."

Millicent Keller has posed:
"Don't mistake me, I'm flattered intended or otherwise. Been a very long time since it was offered, but courtly romance is unfortunately a thing of the past I fear."Theres a little shrug at that bit, that visored helm sweeping slowly in either direction. "It's all so silly these days, so vague and droll. Used to be a Knight-errant would fight to the death to return a lady's glove, and theres really no mistaking interest nor intention at that point."Though well she gives that chestplate a tap-tap with a fingertip. "Complicated I'm familiar with, I'm hardly conventional myself anymore."

Karolina Dean has posed:
"Yeah, mixed signals are -everywhere-.... and sometimes I just.... prefer to stay quiet, or not do anything, because reading intentions and stuff is so easy to mistake...." Karolina says, head tilted down some, sounding a little bit unhappy. "Convention is less fun, even if people give you weird looks for being different... it's just how the world is right now..." she says quietly. "Oh! We're almost there."
