Cast of Characters: Wanda Maximoff, Clint Barton, Conner Kent

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
For all the goings on in the City, the fact that a city block, a marketplace that was ground zero for a quick lower Manhattan battle wasn't very newsworthy. Fires from a gas main break happens all the time. The fact that it made the paper at all was the presence of a large woman (Giganta), a walking tree, and lots of bunnies. Rats, they're common in the city, but bunnies?

It's cold out, even with the sun shining in clear skies. There's a slight wind to the canyons of New York City, a little more blustery depending upon cross streets and wind direction. The road is closed to vehicle traffic, but public works is out with their trucks, and pedestrians are still walking the streets. The markets are closed; yellow plastic lines are across the store fronts.

There, in front of a mostly concrete building, a butcher shop, Wanda stands. She's dressed down, very much like the day before. Jeans, sweater, a long grey coat that reaches the tops of her boots. On her head, a blue baseball cap. Her attempt at anonymity, which sometimes works. Her hands are pushed deep in her open wool coat as she looks at the burned out building. Laser blasts will do that to a place... before she dips her head and looks down the road, taking in the 'day after', her expression a touch sad.

Clint Barton has posed:
Well, looks like Clint is going for a walk. Though he's missing his baseball cap. Weird.

But, Clint is out on his walk, wearing a black jacket with a purple shirt and jeans, combat boots are necessity of course. Lot of places for Clint to hide an arrow or two...or a simple handgun for self-defense. Clint makes his way down the street all the same as he whistles, though his attention falls in Wanda as she's looking at this building, well, she might be trying to hide, but Clint's made a career about finding people.

So, Wanda might be a little surprised to find Clint just suddenly standing next to her, unless she sensed him coming. Wouldn't be the first time.

"So, I've heard you had a bit of a day." He smirks.

Conner Kent has posed:
Fighting evil carnivorous bunnies with tentacles alongside a bunch of weird aliens ranks as one of the ten weirdest things Conner had done in his short life. Maybe even top five. He is also the kind of super that stays after the event to talk to the cops. And in this case also to the firemen. He tried to save the building, but although he managed to put off the fire, the damages were so extensive that it had to be evacuated. So, he spent most of the night helping the city block inhabitants to move their valuables. Then talking to the cops, talking to feds from the DEO and some agencies he had never heard about concerning the alien rabbits, and then so on.

He is still here, as he really doesn't need to sleep much. His leather jacket is badly burned, but his Starkphone survived the onslaught and he is typing while talking to yet more cops. And pest control, because they are mildly concerned about the rabbits. Mildly because most of them think it is a crazy story. But some of them are New Yorkers and know crazy things happen every Monday.

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
Wanda is, indeed, a hat thief. It's not hard for someone like Clint to pick the witch out of a crowd; she's usually the one staring into that middle distance, though at least this time, she's not playing with red wisps of magic.

Leaning back and turning her head to the side in the direction of his voice, Wanda offers up a game smile, following it up with a shrug, though it's not that dismissive. Off in the distance, there is a person-sized depression in a building's side, and her gaze catches it when she looks to Clint. "There are better days," is murmured. "There are worse days."

One hand is pulled from the warmth of a pocket to seek Clint's, a quick squeeze of contact. "I tried to save building. Market." And this is what happened.

As she looks down the block now, Wanda catches sight of a familiar figure, familiar from the fight of a day ago, anyway. Pulling her other hand out, she points to Conner, adding, "He was there..."

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint's hand is easy to find and he holds Wanda's hand in response to her seeking. But, he looks at the person-sized depression there and he seems to frown just a tad. "Worse days." Clint repeats, before his eyes shift to where Wanda was pointing to. "Oh? Who's that?" He questions her curiously.

He waves the figure down, if Conner feels like paying attention to such things.

Though he looks at Wanda. "So, did you win? Sorry I missed out on that one. SHIELD needed me for something. Besides, megabrawls are more your thing..."

Conner Kent has posed:
Superboy was there, indeed. Still is there. He is wearing a version of the Superman outfit consisting in red jeans, a black t-shirt with a big red S, black boots and a black (and currently scorched) leather jacket. Also, Superman would never be caught dead with that haircut.

He spots Wanda right away, and waves back. Despite looking as if he has his attention on the cellphone, he does have a Kryptonian's enhanced senses and he notices most things.

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
"I did not get name," and mores the pity, actually. "He was helpful." Wanda watches as Clint offers up the wave; he's a great deal more extroverted than she, and a softly chuffed breath exits. "So I guess we will now?" is murmured as the wave is returned.

Conner looks ... messy, and there's a twinge of guilt that rides the Avenger's face. She'd left the scene, leaving others to clean up, which looks like he'd been part that had stayed behind. Giving Clint's hand a squeeze, she steps forward to check in with Conner in regards to damages. "Was there anyone injured?" Wanda doesn't know about the enhanced senses, and she calls out from the safety of the archer's side.

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint nods only once to Wanda as she mentions she didn't get his name. "Well, no time like the present." Besides, it's SHIELD's, and by extension in a smaller way, the Avengers' job to understand the players of the superhero game. But, he squeezes Wanda's hand only once before he watches her go over to speak to Conner more directly.

Clint stays with her, and of course...Clint is packing some heat at all times. Conner can see that with his X-Ray vision, but Clint shows no sign of being willing to use it...at the moment.

Conner Kent has posed:
Although Conner does not have X-ray vision, he can more or less guess who is Clint. He watched the footage of the Avengers fighting Loki's army way back. And him coming with Scarlet Witch is quite the clue. "Hey, hello." He greets, flashing the woman a smile.

"There were some injured, but nothing serious. An old lady had a heart attack, but the paramedics got her in time. I think she is the inly one in the hospital right now," he glances back to the building. "Unfortunately, they are talking about demolishing it. I think there are a couple engineers inside right now," but he can hear them talking. "Could you, y'know? Magic it back to normal?"

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
There is only so much that can be done for Avengers to remain vaguely anonymous when they walk the streets. Particularly after the Battle of New York. Some of the team have given up all together and enjoy the fame, others try to live a slightly less flashy life for what it is they do even while accepting that they will be recognized. Wanda does try to keep things a little more on the downlow, almost impossible considering her penchant for actually using her abilities out in the open for most to see. There's very little that is subtle about her use of magic.

"Hello," is returned with a tentative smile, the sound of the word an accented lilt of Eastern European sound. "I did not get your name yesterday. I am Wanda, and this is Clint." The update, however, is appreciated, and she nods slowly in regards to the work, and the decisions the engineers are making in terms of the viability of the building. Green eyes glance back to the shop, then along the block. Livlihoods lost in the holidays, and the one building to be torn down?

There is a soft breath exhaled again, and at the request to put it all back together, she bites at her lower lip briefly. "Is not something I have done," is offered as explanation for her reticence. "I could do," and there's something of a 'but' in there.

"There is no saving it?"

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint smirks a little bit to Conner as he greets them. "Well good, that should put her mind at ease." when he hears of magic going back to normal, he looks at Wanda. "Did things get...that crazy?" He questions her, wondering if her chaos magic got a little -too- out of hand. Its a question that needs asking.

All the same, Clint's eyes settle on Wanda once again as she introduces him. "Yo." though he seems to ponder just a little bit.

"No, there probably is."

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner shrugs, glancing back. "Well, maybe. I mean, I am listening the City Hall engineers talking inside. They don't think the insurance company will want it fixed. It is too expensive. Building is already pretty old. They will lose less money by letting it be demolished. Some kind of modern condo building will take its place, gentrification advances and so on."

The young man looks uncomfortable. Current inhabitants will get some money, but rent in New York is crazy, most of them will end up in smaller or far worse places or just much farther from the city center.

"Oh, I am Superboy," he offers his hand to both Avengers. "I'd give you my real name, but I am making a token effort to maintain a secret identity. At least until I finish college," he grins.

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
"We are good with secrets," Wanda can't help but smile at that. Still, she's not insulted, and she looks at Superboy's outstretched hand before she offers her own hand. It's small, delicately-boned; and it's more of a squeeze than an actual shake before she retrieves it again.

At Clint's question, however, it's not something she wants to answer directly. The hesitation in the answer should speak volumes, and she presses her lips together before her head bobs, the bill of the hat hiding her face for the gesture before she looks up at the archer. "It went .." She pauses, then, "the damage was not my fault." Just in case. "That," and she gestures at the person-shaped dent in a building, "that was."

Conner's explanation, Superboy's explanation of what is transpiring with the building, the area's butcher shop, gains a nod and a frown from the witch. She glances back to the building, not even questioning the fact that he just said he can //hear// them talking within. Maybe the connection is made with Superboy and Superman? Probably.

Yes, the building is old. The neighborhood is old. It's been a market for decades, one of the smaller neighborhood ones, where people meet/greet and shop. It's far enough away from the beaten path of tourists, which allows it to remain just the way its been.

It looks like a decision is being made behind those green eyes, and she nods her head slowly. "They will have to leave building first."

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner nods. Then hehs. "Might be better to do it tonight, because I can only imagine the red tape if you try to do it though official channels." And he is not above some not quite legal charity work, and screw the insurance companies and New York's greedy real estate developers.

"Oh, and of course she didn't do it. There were a bunch of aliens armed to the teeth trying to kill the carnivorous rabbits that had little regard to the neighborhood." He is not particularly angry, after all they were trying to help, just their priority was to kill the little monsters, not saving the people.

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
Wanda nods in the suggestion. Under cover of night is probably best. She'll have either Clint or her brother with her, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem, because the night brings on other issues that tend to get her attention.

Glancing at the archer, Wanda turns back and looks a touch more confident in her decision. She understands, or seems to, the difficulties that may lie ahead if 'correct channels' are adhered to. Some may have issue with it, but the witch's first instinct is to do and either ask permission or forgiveness afterwards. Particularly when it's a selfless act.

The blue woman didn't have to blow up the building...

As they stand there, however, it begins to appear that they're getting a little attention. Not a lot, but enough to concern Wanda. After all, the videos of the event, piecemeal as they may be, are online, and she dislikes a lot of attention. It worries her.

"We should go," is murmured to Clint. Louder, then for Conner, Wanda inclines her head and offers as her promise, "I will be back tonight."

Conner Kent has posed:
"Midnight?" Offers Conner. "I can be here, make sure no one is inside." Because the police will put their yellow tape, but looters might try to get in to grab whatever valuables are left. Those things happen. And Conner senses come handy. "See you later, I guess."
