Post-Shopping Veggie Burger
Date of Scene: 02 January 2021
Location: Burger Joint
Synopsis: Tabitha and Ben grab a veggie burger and discuss a spy mission!
Cast of Characters: Ben Reilly, Tabitha Smith

Ben Reilly has posed:
In this day and age, the veggie burger has risen into promenance. No longer must mixed-diet companions struggle with restaurant selection. Once proud peddlers of beef have been brought low by the demands of the market. The wonder burger and many other perfectly acceptable non-meat alternatives have emerged on menus across the nation. Salem is no different.

After a few good hours of shopping, Ben invited Tabitha along to the Burger Joint, promising good fries and an alledgedly good veggie burger. He arranges his bags of purchased clothes neatly beside one of the tables and glances Tabitha's way. "So, what's your order? Veggie Burger, Fries, Milkshake? It's all on the most generous Sergei."

Tabitha Smith has posed:
Tabitha does not really follow trends since she's too trashy for that but she does have a strict diet and has made a point to give Ben all the long and boring details. The "Burger Joint" looks like it has a fresh coat of green paint, maybe to remind patrons that there is FRESHNESS here and GREEN STUFF here like lettucs and veggies! Really!

Tabitha is sitting in one of the booths talking to ole Ben, "Sure, one veggie burger, Sergei," she tells him amusedly and smiles, "Uhh is this a dinner date?" she wonders.

Ben Reilly has posed:
Ben nods and holds up a finger. "Let me get our order in, and I'll answer that."

He steps away and walks up to the counter, waiting patiently until he gets the attention of the cashier. He puts in an order for two veggie burgers, because he might as well try it. He also tosses in a large order of fries. The stolen credit card from the gunman is likely used for its final transaction before Ben returns and sits down.

"Dinner date? Well, it can be if you want. Or it can be a celebration of life and surviving 'stupid people with guns'." He offers a wry smirk and folds his arms on the table. "Though I wouldn't mind calling it a date. You are totally my type." He nods in the affirmative.

Tabitha Smith has posed:
Tabitha Smith leans back at the booth while he's away and smiles as he returns and she listens to his comments. She leans forward, taking a french fry from the tray and she holds it up like a pointer, trying to make her point.

"Hey, remember---those guys aren't dead. And there's a whole bunch of them that know somebody swiped their credit card. They're not really the type to take that and like it," she tells him, "Maybe I changed my mind. Maybe we do need to go clean up that apartment," she adds.

Ben Reilly has posed:
"I'm betting they are in police custody though. Guys like that have to have some kind of a record, and I bet the police aren't giving them access to their phones. Way, I see it, that gives us a little bit of a head start on them." Peter retorts, leaning backwards. He nods, "I've been considering that more and more. I'd like to no more about the people I'm fleecing... and a bit more about why they decided to point guns at us. Either they were sex traffickers or they had a way of knowing you were special."

He drums his fingers on the table and then retrieves a fry slipping it between his lips.

Tabitha Smith has posed:
Tabitha Smith hmms and frowns at some of Ben's statements, maybe not at him directly but at what kind of real life crap is happening in the city around her. Does she want to deal with it?

"Yeah well, I guess we'll never really know what the hell they wanted but they didn't start after me until you showed up, mister tough guy. Remember that!" she states amusedly and munches on a french fry.

"I guess you're right though, we do have a head start. How do you think we could learn more about them? There's no creepy foreign guy dataase."

Ben Reilly has posed:
"Mister Tough Guy... Ahem.. You did kind of 'explode' them. Yea, maybe I surprised them with my deadlift and that trashcan, but they had already bitten off way more then they could chew with you, Tabitha. I don't think I was necessary." He unwraps his burger and inspects it. Squinting at the 'not meat' between the buns, he takes a tenative bite and seems geninuely surprised and happy with his selection. "Oh..." He chews, "I like that."

He wipes his mouth with a napkin. "Going to their place and having a look around is probably the best start... or we wait for them to be released from police custody and follow them."

Tabitha Smith has posed:
Tabitha Smith eats some of her veggie burger and can't help but snicker at Ben eating the veggie too, "Really? C'mon, you don't like it," she tells him, not able to believe him.

"I'm not sure how we'd know when they'd be released. We'd have to 'go have a look around' in----cog---neeto, Ben. I mean, I have some goggles but do you have a mask? Maybe we don't need them but if we're going in there...yeah I dunno..." she rambles, not sure of the plan.

Ben Reilly has posed:
Ben chews and raises an eyebrow at her. "Hey, I happen to really like beans.. and the flavor is really good. It doesn't replace a burger for me, but its something different and nice."

He nods abstinantly toward the young woman across the table and then considers incognito. He seems close to saying something, then catches himself. "Oh right. A mask. Well, you know when I was a kid. I'd pull a t-shirt over my head and stick my eyes through the neckhole then tie the sleeves behind my head. Totally worked as a makeshift ninja costume. I bet that'd work in this situation too."

He grins then considers, "Though probably less suspicious if I just pretend to make another pizza delivery."

Tabitha Smith has posed:
Tabitha Smith hmms as she wonders if Ben is really telling the truth, "Uh huh, your new favorite thing, right?" she says and shakes her head.

"Yeah, OR---now listen---OR we could get actual masks. What? Oh fine, yeah we could try the pizza thing again but what am I gonna deliver? They didn't order more electronics," she tells him, "Dang, I wish I had one of their phones, I could hack it. Or maybe we could get one of this badass telescopes and look in their window," she tells him, like she's some damn super spy all of sudden. She squints and peers through a hole she makes with her fingers, to make sure he knows she's serious about the spy business.

Ben Reilly has posed:
Ben frowns for a moment, "I guess if we buy some ski-masks with cash that will work. I mean.. it is winter after all."

He hums deeply and crosses his arms deep in thought then uncrosses them to eat a few more fries. "You could be my 'trainee'? I don't know. Probably best we don't use your thingy to get up there. I'm sure that's trackable."

He looks pensive and a little frustrated, it would be way easier to just go in through a window. This having to pretend to be normal thing is difficult.

"Yea, I've got no fancy spy devices... maybe you do and your fancy employer, huh?" He tilts his head and eyes her across the table. "You got any other tricks beyond 'boom'?"

Tabitha Smith has posed:
Tabitha Smith smirks, "Your trainee?" she wonders, shaking her head again, "I don't think I'd have the patience for pizza delivery. Ski-Masks?" she hmms, thinking over their grand plan.

She begins to look a little embarrassed as he critiques her job and her powers, "Uhh, it's not that fancy..." she mutters, "What? No not really, I just blow shit up. Pretty simple," she shrugs.

Ben Reilly has posed:
"Considering explosions changed the face of warfare and industry, I wouldn't call it simple... Damn handy thing. Though not useful for spy work. That's for sure." He finishes up his burger pretty quickly, clearly enjoying it despite Tabitha's insistence that he's faking it. He chases it with a few more fries. "We could also just keep it simple. Tailgate our way into the elevator. Get to 402. Maybe pop the lock with a little mini-boom or something? Then peek around inside and see what we find!"

Tabitha Smith has posed:
Tabitha Smith looks at her fingers and chuckles, "A mini boom?" she asks, apparently amused with that characterization, "Could work. If they're all out or something. I guess we could wait. I mean, IF we could wait," she tells him and then points at him with her pointy finger, "IF we could wait," she tells him, insinuating that he should be patient. "Stake outs are spy business too," she reminds him amusedly, trying to weasel her way into somehow being a spy.

Ben Reilly has posed:
"Alright alright. So after we finish dinner, we go walking around the apartment complex and see if we can figure out which window is 402. Once we do that, we look for somewhere nearby that has a good view of it and see if we can learn something by watching. I know I saw some dude staring out their window when I delivered the pizza. If he wasn't one of the jerks with the guns, maybe we can catch him looking some more. Or maybe, they heard their buddies were picked up by the police and they've gotten the hell out of dodge." He shrugs once more and grabs a napkin to wipe his fingers. "Either way, we can totally spy. We even have plenty of clothes to keep us warm while we burn the midnight oil."

Tabitha Smith has posed:
Tabitha Smith does a cha-ching move with her fist and grins, "Totally spying! Yeah!" she lets out, "Awesome. We'll get aaaaaaalllll their dirty laundry. It'll be no prob," she tells him, "And we don't even need a fancyass telescope, we'll just use plain ole bino-whatsits," she explains helpfully and continues to grin like it's an amazing escapade she's lucked into. She holds up a hand as she hears the last part and says, "Yeah yeah, I hear you. But if we spy them leaving, we can run in after they're gone. This will be awesome, right?" she asks him.

Ben Reilly has posed:
Ben nods to her in agreement. "Maybe the last thing on the shopping list is some binoculars."

He stands to put up his tray of food and returns with a plastic cup of water, sipping. "Alright, my awesome partner in espionage. Do you want to do this thing tonight? Or do you need to regroup and get some stuff? If you've got stuff. You sound pretty big into this whole spy thing! Maybe you are already decked out and just waiting for this moment."

He chuckles and leans back, draping his arm over the back of the booth bench. "Otherwise, I think we need to go hit a sporting goods store."

Tabitha Smith has posed:
Tabitha Smith hmms, "Okay, tomorrow night. We can't be lazy," she tells him and pauses to emphasize that point, "Didn't we just go shopping? Okay okay, we do need a couple things," she tells him. She finishes her veggie burger.

"What? Into it? I dunno, I just thought it was super cool, that's all. We're taking down a big huge crime ring and saving the city. We could get press like Spider-Man."

Ben Reilly has posed:
Ben reels a little bit at the mentioning of Spider-man. He offers a nervous chuckle, "Ya, totally like Spider-man. Okay, so second date is after sundown outside those apartments. Bring your best... uh... spy stuff. Got it."

He hums, "I wonder if there is one of those spy stores nearby. I remember reading about one online once, but I bet its down in Manhattan. So, probably sporting goods is best still for binocs. But if we found a proper spy store, I bet they have one of those cool laser mics."

He winces, "Yep over thinking it again."
