A day at Happy Harbor High
Date of Scene: 12 March 2020
Location: Central Plaza - Happy Harbor High School
Synopsis: Another day at Happy Harbor High, some students get together and chat about upcoming events.
Cast of Characters: Sebastian Winters, Alexander Aaron, Christine Lake

Sebastian Winters has posed:
The sun is bright today on this March afternoon. A cool breeze is the only reminder that spring has not quite yet sprung but the warm sun more than makes up for any chill in the air. It is just past lunch hour and most of the students have moved beyond their visits to the cafateria and are now either on their way to their next classes, doing study hall, or are socializing in the common areas. The Central Plaza, or the "Hub" as it is most freqently referred to is one of those places. Most of the students are just passing through but a few gather near the benches and other spots worthy of calling a landmark.

Sebastian is one of those who is taking a moment to pause and take in the day. He would much rather be up in the hills looking for more arrowheads or other signs of the previous civilization that once occupied this land, but obligations require that he actually attend school once in a while to maintain his vaulted GPA. Still it is good to get out of class for a short respite and he finds himself sitting on one of the benches soaking in the sun.

Alexander Aaron has posed:
This time of the day is a free period, study hall. Otherwise known as get homework done so you don't have to do it at home, and then roam the halls or hunker down somewhere and monitor the culture in some form of media. And, for Alexander Aaron, it works out just fine. What homework he often has he finishes fairly easily, and then he'll check his phone as is the wont of any teen with his particular social dynamic. But at the moment he's spraaaaawled on the top of one of the picnic tables, leaning to the side and propping his head up with one hand. A foot is flat on the tabletop and his head is lifted a little more by the backpack being under his arm.
Across the way he lifts his voice, "Does anyone know off hand how long a radio message from Earth takes to get to Mars?"
The words are uttered loudly, as if asking anyone in the general vicinity. "I want to make a sharp cunning cutting retort and I need that information, but can't change windows to do it."
He grimaces and swipes his thumb across the screen, clearly needing two phones.

Christine Lake has posed:
Christine comes walking into the Hub. With Spring almost here, she's wearing a blue denim skirt that comes to a few inches above her knees and a long sleeve, floral print blouse. But with the chill of Winter still hanging around, she's also wearing white leggings under the skirt. Blue slip-on sneakers with white laces and trim are the choice of footwear du'jour. She sets her backpack down next to a bench near Alex, shaking her head at his question. "Nope. Can't even Google it for you; my phone's d-e-d, ded." She leans back into the bench, stretching her legsa nd body out some. "Other than science questions, how're you doing, Alex?" Her smile is bright and cheerful, much more apparent than her first week here at Happy Harbor.

Sebastian Winters has posed:
Sebastian Winters knows the answer but... oh hell why not, "Would it make me a total nerd if I knew the answer without looking it up? Its close to 14 minutes. Try thirteen-fourty-eight or something like that." he says as he takes a big long stretch from where he is sitting and then stands up to wander over to where Aaron is. "Aaron isn't it? We met in the hall that one time." he says grinning. His smile fades as a voice keeps whispering in his ear more urgently as he gets closer. ~hunger!~ He sighs and does his best to ignore it and soon the voice falls silent.

Alexander Aaron has posed:
"Bah," Alexander says succinctly as he remains in his sprawled state, addressing Christine sidelong, "You are no use to me, Lake." But his half-smirk might rob any sting from those words even as he waves at her. "But otherwise, doing alright. Pretty nice last few days." He nods his head slooowly as if letting his thoughts wander, then he returns to the here and now. I think it's like fifteen minutes or something. I'll go with fifteen minutes."
But then Sebastian lifts his voice, "Fourteen! Thanks. That's accurate enough to grant the illusion of my spontaneous brilliance." As he says that he taps a bit on the phone and then pockets it, only then lifting his eyes to Sebastian. The Olympian youth smiles and sits up, "Oh hey, sure."
He motions sidelong, "This is Christine Lake. She's dating Alton something, for /some/ reason." He shakes his head, condemning, eyes lifting upwards. "Some peoples' kids." Seeming fond of that expression.

Christine Lake has posed:
At the mention of her and Alton dating, Christine blushes, but is still very much in a happy mood. Besides, it's not like the pair were trying to hide all the handholding and kisses. "Let's see," she smirks to Alex. "Nice personality, good manners, strong moral center, handsome, best dressed guy at school. Yeah, you're right; it's a total mystery, Sherlock."

She offers Sebastian a wave and greets him. "Hi. I'm Christine, not 'Lake'. Alex just likes calling everyone by their last name to make himself feel more important than he is." She turns and playfully sticks her tongue out at Alex. "But it's nice to meet you," she says as she holds out a hand to Sebastian.

Sebastian Winters has posed:
Sebastian Winters grins, "Nice to meet you." he says, his accent somewhere between a southern european and brittish 'twang' that is difficult to speccify which. His speech though is pure american and there is a good mix if new-yorker mixed in there also depending on who he has been talking with.

Sebastian checks his watch and sees he is good on time yet. He smirks at the dating comment and shrugs. "I haven't been here long enough to pick up a date. Name's Sebastian." he says doing his best not to make it sound as upper class as he is. "You can call me whatever you like." He takes the offered hand politely and shakes being careful not to bone crush like some people are want to do.

Alexander Aaron has posed:
"Sure sure, and he doesn't ever take a dump, and when he wakes up his breath smells sweet as the morning dew, and when he breaks wind it smells like fresh baked chocolate chip cookies." Alexander's nose crinkles but the wry smile is there, perhaps stealing away some of the sting from the words as he's clearly teasing. But then...
"Hey, I don't have to call people by their last name to feel self-important, that sorta comes naturally." That said he remains sitting cross-legged on the tabletop then nods to Sebastian, "And really I just call her by her last name since it bugs her." With that taken care of his head bobs a few times, "Nice to meet you, Seb. I'm Alex as you may have picked up."

Christine Lake has posed:
"And a fantasatic kisser," Christine adds to Alex's list, with a very satisfied look. "Anyways, Sebastian. It's nice to meet you. Where are you from? You've got the whole Euro-accent thing going on. And welcome to Happy Harbor; hope you enjoy your stay here. Any sports or activities you're into? I'm on the cheer squad, in case you couldn't tell." She smiles and gives a self-depricating shrug. "And Alex here...." She turns to Alex and gives him a teasing blink. "What exactly to you do here, Alex? Besides being Captain of the Snark Club?"

Sebastian Winters has posed:
Sebastian Winters gives Alex a nod, "Indeed." he says letting all the brit take over in that single word. "Nice meeting you again." he says politely. Ladies and gentlemen the ego has landed. There are now two large ones bunting for space with different styles and who is to say the winner will be. Likely neither. But Sebastian is just brimming with confidence due to the illicit and slightly addictive use of his powers on a low boil continuously.

He smiles, "Most recently from Sommerset. I've traveled quite a bit, however. My parents do a lot of travel with their occupations." he says casually. "So!" he says, "Science fair, and Prom, all in one month. I think I'll take a pass at being in the fair. Most people get bored with archaeology talk. But this prom thing you do over here. Quite the traddition!" he says. "Now... since I am new here. I will likely end up going... "Stag" I think is the word. Unless someone wants to set me up.... in a good way. Or point out someone that is looking."

Alexander Aaron has posed:
"Other than being totally kick ass at cheerleader tryouts?" Alexander replies with that wry tone back at Christine. He leans back on his hands, his backpack settled to the side with a casual lazy aplomb that only the truly young and irresponsible can achieve. Back to Sebastian, the hazel-eyed youth smiles wryly, "But yah, I'm here just for this semester then off to ESU," A glance is spared in the direction of the city as his thoughts drift a moment, then back.
"Other than that, m'sorta just killing time." He grimaces and extends his legs, feet unfolding and crossing at the ankles as he sprawls leisurely. "Running some course work, trying not to screw up too badly."
The young man's eyes lift and then he smiles at Sebastian. "You should definitely go. Though we also were thinking of having a pre-prom get together so some of our non-school friends could come by."

Christine Lake has posed:
"Going by yourself is totally fine when you're new," She assures Sebastian. "And I really just lucked into Alton asking me and...things just went from there." There's that contented smile of hers, again. "But, just talk to some of the other girls, be friendly, and I'm sure you'll find a date for Prom. Everyone's sort of scrambling becasue the school is so new. They obviously didn't consult with any potential students about social events when they made up the timeline for this place." She nods sagely, but has a teasing tone to her voice.

"And the pre-party is a fantstic idea too," Christine continues. "And if certain of Alex' friends show up with drinks, the party is *definately* going to be lit." She turns to Alex and nods. "Yes, I do drink at parties. Just not on school grounds. I'm cautious, not a prude."

Sebastian Winters has posed:
Sebastian Winters grins broadly, "Oh bang on! I'd love to go. Please share the details!" he says to Alex, "Any excuse for a party is good with me. So count me in!" he says. Especially if there is beer there he thinks to himself. "My parents keep dragging me off to these stuffy Lex2020 events and its getting really old. Like big money, and bigger egos. They're trying to get a grant for a dig somehwere. I'm sick of being a display piece. If you know what I mean."

Sebastian takes a short walk through his memory palace to make sure he isn't forgetting anything that he needs to attend and shrugs. He then laughs, "Well if there's drink to be had I will definitely crash that one! What my folks don't know wont hurt them. Last drink I had was at Stark's coming out party and it was that... a party. It's been some adjustment getting used to the different drinking ages between there and here."

Alexander Aaron has posed:
"I try not to drink," Alexander confesses sidelong towards Lake. He tilts his head to the side toward Sebastian, "And I am not going to encourage my friends to bring whatever. Just cuz, I don't wanna become /that guy./" He offers that with a steady nod, nose crinkling as he murmurs.
Then he gestures toward Christine, "Though hey, Heidi did get me to try some of the mead. It was... pretty interesting." Considering he'd never actually been intoxicated before.
"But yeah sure. You'll meet some of the other folks." He does not seem to mind the idea of more people coming along at all. "We were going to meet up here about three hours before the shindig then go to this diner that's nearby." He motions in the general direction. "Though..."
Alex smiles a little, and has started making this caveat when he's inviting to things that might have Melissa there, "My friends can be kinda rough. Fair warning."

Christine Lake has posed:
Christine rolls her eyes and shakes her head. "Don't listen to him, Sebastian. Heidi and Mel can be rough around the edges, but they're real sweethearts. Just treat them with respect and you'll be fine. They're really great girls." She looks back at Alex. "And if what you said about Mel samplilng some of Heidi's mead is true, I'd love to try it. But only after the Prom. Don't want to be black-out drunk on the 'most magical night of our lives'." She may love th idea of Prom, but she's not so enamoured tht she doesn't recognized how over-hypd it can be.

Sebastian Winters has posed:
Sebastian Winters grins broadly, "I can get along fine with anyone. Just cause I'm from a private school over the pond doesn't mean I can't run with people who arent from the right side of the tracks. Sommerset may not sound it, but there's one hell of a punk scene going on over there... and I do mean -punk-." he grins remembering the last fight he had gotten into at a house party. He didn't win but he didnt get his ass beat either, and the damage they did was really something!

"I love having fun!" he says grinning wryly. "Last house party I went to was a real riot. I think even the police got invovled. But I was out of there before that happened." He holds up his hands, "Don't worry I wont bring that kind of fun with me unless someone else does." he winks. "And I'm good for moderating to stay walking upright."

Alexander Aaron has posed:
"I dunnno, Christine." Uh oh, not calling her Lake. That means he's taken that more serious big-brotherly tone of his. "Mel is a pretty decent drinker and just a swallow of it knocked her on her bum. You're all..." He lifts his hands, hazel eyes lifting up and down as he gives her a once over, "You." Which means to say 'Not Mel.'
But then he smiles and gives a shrug, "Also, we probably shouldn't like, encourage Heidi to corrupt minors and all that. She could get in trouble and man... I don't normally worry about folks being sad. But Heidi sad is enough to break your heart."
But then he looks over at Sebastian and at the mention of the punk scene he seems curious, head tilting up to the side, "That sounds pretty cool. I haven't been to a party where the police were called..." A beat then his eyes slip to the side as he adds, "Well, lately at least."

Christine Lake has posed:
"Awwwwww...." Chrsitine mews at Alex, grateful for his concern. "Yeah, I know. I'm really a lightweight compared to Mel. But, you and Alton will be there. And other people I trust. So, I'm sure that I'll black out once the mead hits my lips, but you guys will be there and take me home safely." She draws circle in the air with her finger. "Circle of Trust, and all that. I mean, it's better to have these kinds of experiences when you're surrounded by friends you knw you can count on than at some frat party surrounded by people you just met, right?" Another smile for Alex, then she looks over at Sebastian. "Something tells me the police didn't get involved in that party because of a noise complaint..."

Sebastian Winters has posed:
Sebastian Winters shrugs, "I made my get away before things got too violent. Word was some local hero type I never heard of before then crashed the place, took out a few trouble makers that were bothering the ladies and spoiling things, and the bobbies were called in to sober up the rest with a ride home." he grins and shrugs. He doesn't mention he was the local hero involved... that part was fun too!

Sebastian unconciously rubs at his bracelets for a moment. He grins and shrugs, "I think the whole crowd was just letting off steam from the mid-terms and all that."

Alexander Aaron has posed:
A small chuff comes from Alex as he eyes Christine sidelong, "Man you still don't know me very well." Circle of trust. Hah. Yet he takes a deep breath, holds it for a time, then exhales... letting it be a wry sigh of contention before he shakes his head. "But alright, we'll be fine, and we'll make sure Alton keeps his hands to himself while you're schnockered on the floor or whatever."
That said he crinkles his nose and looks away, back toward Sebastian, "Bah, capes. Buncha snoopy nosey busy bodies." The youth nods sharply, "I'm with Jameson about them." He seems to feel that settles it, but then he shrugs a touch and adds, "Well, mostly with Jameson."

Christine Lake has posed:
"Warning," Christine says to Sebastian with a grin. "Authoritative statements from Alex in regards to metahumans are subject to change without notice. Last week, all Asgardians were 'stupid, uncouth, chuckleheds'; I'm paraphrasing. But *this* week, some of them are 'pretty cool'. Again, paraphrasing."

Sebastian Winters has posed:
Sebastian Winters laughs! "Gotcha. That Jameson fellow would have anyone different locked up in a vault or a concentration camp." he shakes his head, "I'd bet this part of the world has more capes than anywhere else. Best to get used to them being around, I'd say." he says.

"Besides if Tony Stark is any indication they can throw some real wild parties too." he adds.

Sebastian mmns, "This knockout meade sounds like a real blast. I think I'll give it a rounder myself. I'll come in a cab though just in case." he gives a wink.

Alexander Aaron has posed:
"I neeever, never, said they were stupid and uncouth." The young man offers as he checks Christine's statement, pointing at her as he reaches to the side and grabs his backpack, casually lifting it and slinging it over his shoulder. "I said they were renfest rejects and chuckleheads." There's a pause as his lip twists upwards, amused at Christine apparently feeling her oats today and giving him all the sass.
Then back towards Sebastian he appends his statement, "Though I have recently given some thought as to this conclusion and found it might not be /entirely/ accurate." That said he gives a nod and slides forward, letting his sneakers thwop onto the bench seat in front of him. Not yet hopping off the table, but likely getting ready to.
Back to Sebastian his lip twitches, "Well, contrary to popular belief there is a bit of a middle ground between, 'everyone use your powers all the time yay me!' and 'hitler.'" He holds up a finger, "Just sayin'. I know for folks sometimes it's 0-60 in .2 seconds, but there's a difference."

Christine Lake has posed:
Christine takes all the teasing and banter in stride. She stans up and picks up her backpack. "Alright, gentlemen; I need to get moving. Alex, always a pleasure. And again, nice to meet you, Sebastian. I'll see you boys around." She waves and heads off.

Sebastian Winters has posed:
Sebastian Winters nods, "Yeah I agree. I believe it was one of your politicians that said 'your rights end at my nose' or some such. I'm pretty good with that. Though I think the capes are trying to stop all the bloody noses. So to speak. Bobbies arent every capable in stopping the other variety. You know, the ones that actually want to hurt other people with them. Just a shame we have to be in the middle of it all. So, yeah middle ground. With 'us' standing in it." he says.

Sebastian looks at his watch, "I must run too. Nice meeting you both as well." he says estimating the time it will take for him to go to his locker, collect his backpack, and make it to his next class.
