Cast of Characters: Cassie Sandsmark, Conner Kent

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
It's late in the afternoon, and Cassie is finished with her tasks at the Themysciran Embassy for the day. She still has one more friend to catch up with, so Wonder Girl is in the air and flying to Metropolis, hoping to run into Superboy. It's been 8 months since they last saw each other, and Cassie wonders what Conner will think of her changes. Shes also wondering if Conner has changed much in that time, as well. Sighing, Cassie makes a mental note to talk to Diana about bringing the Internet to Themyscira, so that she can keep in contact with people when away.

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner has been told Cassie is back, but somehow he has been missing her for several days. He lost her phone number when he lost the cellphone a few weeks ago (supervillains are bad for smartphones) and keeps forgetting to ask Robin.

But well, it is Cassie. They will eventually bump on each other. Totally unavoidable, given their circles. Conner has been busy. Not as much studying as looking for a place to live in the New York area that is not crazy expensive. He joined late to the semester, so he has few classes and they are pretty basic.

So far, no luck. So he keeps coming to the old den to sleep and hang out, and maybe to keep an eye on Rose Wilson. That girl is trouble.

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
Cassie flies down to 'The Clubhouse', her nickname for the warehouse base in Metropolis that the team uses. The new solar panels that she and Bart help set up are still standing; so that's a good sign. Landing on the roof, Cassie enters through the access door and walks down the stairs. "Anybody home?" she calls out. It's Cassie's voice but...it sounds like heels tapping down the stairs, rather than sneakers...

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner is 'home'. Well, not really, but he is here and certainly hears Cassie. "Hey, Cassie," he replies, "welcome back, girl, " he adds, "Tim told me you were around."

Conner has changed little. Well, he seems to have lost the earring and grown up a little. But the leather jacket and edgy haircut are there. He is not wearing his uniform, just jeans and a t-shirt, and sturdy boots because landings after flying at high speed are hard on anything else.

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
Cassie comes down the stairs, onto the main floor. While Conner may not have changed much, Cassie is...*very* different. She's not the gangly teen that fought alongside Connr, Tim, and Bart, any longer. Now, she's a young woman of oise and confidence; well, mostly. Because she still has a nervous smile when she sees Conner for the first time. "Hey..." she smiles and runs her hand through her hair. "How are you, Conner?" And just like that, she feels like she's back at the awkward age of 15, meeting him again for the first time.

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner did know Cassie was blonde, of course. The black wig was a bit of disguise he never complained but can't say he liked much. Then again, he can hardly comment about bad fashion choices, can he?

Still, he has to admit blonde fits her well, and what she is wearing does flatter her slender form. Conner gives her a long glance and smiling. "I am good, and you are looking great, Cassie. That island sure treated you well. Tropical islands are great, aren't they?"

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
Cassie smiles, then moves up to give Conner a hug. "More like 8 months of intense training, rather than lying on the beach and working on a tan." She steps back and looks over Conner some more. She's sort of glad he ditched the earring; she never really liked it much. "You look like you're doing good too. Tim said that you're taking classes; so, that's awesome. Going to Metropolis University?"

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner chuckles and hugs back. "You do have a nice tan, anyway. You guys should have come to Hawaii a few times... but Tim is from Gotham, he might have melted like the wicked witch."

As for his classes, he shrugs. "No, New York. The ESU for now. I got my GED in January and I... needed a change." He loses his smile, but then shrugs. "So, anyway. Tim wants to go fight crime. The four of us again. Maybe Rose too... she is around. Being shifty. As usual. But I think she is in trouble."

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
"ESU? That's awesome!" Cassie sounds rather excited. "I'm starting at Columbia in September. And for now, I'm working as Diana's assistant at the Embassy." She sounds rather proud of that. The further talk about Rose gets her confused; it takes a while for her to recognize the name. "Rose...You mean Deathstroke's daughter?" she asks with incrdulity. "Are...are you guys sure that's a good idea? I mean...she's not exactly..." Cassie pauses to think of a polie way of expressing her thoughts. "Stable." Well, she made an attempt at being polite.

Conner Kent has posed:
"Woah, Columbia," that is a college Conner was told not to bother applying with his modest GED and spotty official education. His high school got blown up by aliens, among other things.

"You must have some really good grades," and he had no idea. Because they never talked about high school back when they were a team. "Very cool. And close enough we could have lunch together some days."

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
"Definately; at least lunch." Cassie sounds happy at the prospect, but there's also a twinge of disappointment in her smile. "But don't sell yourself short. ESU is a great school too. That's where Reed Richards went." Also Victor Von Doom, but she doesn't mention the infamous ex-student. "And, yeah, my grades were good. But also a rcommendation from Diana and some connections from my mom helped. And hey...if you do well at ESU, you could always transfer to Columbia. What are ou going to choose for your major? I'm going with Classical Studies. Of course."

Conner Kent has posed:
"Hah, I doubt I will do well," replies Conner. "I mean, I will pass the courses. But I am there to learn about living, not to get a doctorate and become a scientist or doctor. I am not as smart as Tim and I will never be." Classical studies, of course. "Oh, archeology? That is really cool. I have no idea what will my major be. Maybe..." he shuts up again. He joked about studying journalism because of Tana. And now what?

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
Cassie walks over to a chair and sits down, giving Conner and encouraging smile. "No, go on. Tell me. What were you thinking of studying? I mean...you all know my dreams, and I'm making them come true. I'm officially an Amazon now. I'm going to study Greek mythology and archaeology. I want to help you achive your dreams too, if I can."

Conner Kent has posed:
"Journalism," admits Conner, with another shrug. "Because I want to know what is going on or how to find out what is going on. But I am not sure now," he finds a close seat and flops down. "I don't even have to choose for at least a year, right? Come summer I am going to get basic credit courses and a couple things that sound interesting. "

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
"Yeah, you've got time," Cassie says to reassure him. "Get your general ed out of the way first and see what appeals to yo; lots of cllege students to that. But you know what?" She leans toward Conner and puts her hand on his arm. "I think you'll be great no matter what you decide to do. I mean, yes; Tim is the smart one. He's a genius. But that doesn't make you dumb. You're really smart too; when you want to be. Tim's not less awesome because he can't lift as much as you or me. And you're not less awesome because you can't do computer hacking like Tim. Anything you put your mind to, you cn do."

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner smiles, but shakes his head. Truth is he has left Tim do the thinking pretty much his entire life. Which has been a short life, that too. "Oh well, no more slacker surfer dude life for me. At least for a few years. But I looking forward for the change, y'know? When I got free from the guys that made me, I did three new and different thing every day. Last year everything felt like routine. I want more."

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
"You deserve more," Cassie agrees with a nod. "Conner, no matter what you choose, me and Tim and Bart...we're all going to support you. You know that, right? Explore life, explore college...decide your own path. We'll be there to help you on it." She pats his arm and then sits back. "So, what else has been going on with you? Are you still seeing Tanya?"

Conner Kent has posed:
"That the pla..." Conner goes quiet when Cassie mentions 'Tanya', a pained expression crossing his features. "Ah, you were away when it happened. Tana is dead, a super-criminal murdered her." To get revenge on him, too. So there is a good deal of guilt there. He sighs, standing up to pace.

"She has been dead for over six months and I had to leave Hawaii. Everything there reminded me of her," he admits. "It is dumb. Took me two years to get her to take me seriously. And I just wasted so much time fooling around, thinking we would have forever."

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
And Cassie curses herself for not checking on what happened why she was away *before* talking with her friends. Her face goes pale, and she gasps. "oh, no...Conner...Conner, I'm so sorry." And she's crying a bit for him, then leans over and gives him a hug. "I'm so sorry...I didn't know. But I should have asked around first." She keeps the hug up,for both their benefits. And she really doesn't know what to say, now.

Conner Kent has posed:
"Thanks, you couldn't know," replies Conner, hugging back gently. "It was a crappy year for the gang. Tim also lost people dear to him. We scattered. Or maybe you were the glue binding us together," he babbles.

"So hey. New year, new life," he continues, trying another smile. Not as cocky as his smiles just a year ago. "I am going to throw myself to college and fighting crime again. Doing some good is always a good way to feel better, hmm?"

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
Cassie looks shocked. "Wait...What do you mean Tim lost people, too? He didn't say anything to me about it the other night when we were talking." Of course, Tim ha always been the most closed mouth of the group, but she's still surprised that there was no mention of recent deaths. She sighs and closes her eyes. "I am *so* sorry I wasn't here for yout guys. If I'd have known, I would have delayed the training on Themyscira and come back right after...." She chokes up a bit, feeling the weight of all her friends' pain. "I didn't have a choice whe I disappeared right after my birthday. I was summoned to Mount Olympus. Taken, more precisely. And if I had known wht was going to happen..." She rubs her shiny bracers, symbols of her status as an Amazon. "I'm proud of what I accomplished, what I earned. But, not at the expense of abandoning my friends when they needed me."

Conner Kent has posed:
"You gotta do what you gotta do," points out Conner, releasing Cassie and patting her shoulder. "If Superman was still alive and he had invited me to learn Kryptonian and train with him for a few months I would have left in a flash. You got Zeus and Wonder Woman, that was an opportunity in a lifetime."

They are not even twenty. So there is going to be plenty of time to hang out, have fun and share hardships. Right? Maybe not, after Tana everything feels far more important. "You have to tell us about that magical island. But when we are all together, not just to me."

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
Cassie gives Conner another squeeze before letting go. And she feels guilty, becasue of all the times she had wished COnner would hug her; but she never wanted it to be under these kinds of terms. "Yeah," she says with a sniffly smile. "Yeah, I'll tell you guys about it. And we should plan on doing something soon. Not just getting together to fight bad guys. I mean, just aall hang out together, reconnect. A big sleepover here, maybe. Just movies and pizza and no worries besides having a good time with friends."

Conner Kent has posed:
"Sounds good," agrees Conner. "Let me know if you want to do a party here, I'll get the food. Enough even for Bart. We should try to find the Super-Cycle too. Whatever happened to it? And I am sure Tim has some bad guy group we can go arrest in mind." Probably in Gotham. But what can they do? Bad guys don't hang out in Metro very often anymore.

Cassie Sandsmark has posed:
"Okay," cassie says with a subdued smile. She leans in to hug Conner again, rubbing his back to try and show her support. "I'll be in touch. We've all got communicators now, after all. Let's aim to get together next weekend? That makes it soon, but not, like, last minute." Cassie stands and gets ready to leave. "Take care of yourself, Conner. And I'm really proud of what you've been doing while I've been away."

Conner Kent has posed:
"You mean cellphones or has Rob come up with something more sturdy? I swear Stark got rich from me buying his smartphones." Jokes Conner. "And now... uh huh. Rose is not here, is she? I better find out what she is doing. We missed a chance to get her to be good," he comments in a weird re-interpretation of the one-eyed girl last visit. "We have to try again. Besides, someone is after her."

He heads out. But from the door, he adds. "Next weekend for sure. Or if you are here later we can watch a movie. Tim's super-computer has Web-Flix and Lex-Channel."
