Synopsis: Karen's entrance exam/patrol goes well, with assistance from Robin and Journey.
Cast of Characters: Hal Jordan, Daniel Hastings, Karen Starr, Tim Drake

Hal Jordan has posed:
Idiot with a doomsday device? Yep. Idiot with a doomsday device. Like most such doomsday devices, it actually IS dangerous, but the person who thought building it was a good idea? Not so wise, even if he's smart enough to make the thing in the first place.

In the building, cackling madly, is yet another crazy scientist type. "Yes! With my latest invention, I shall create a monster to do my bidding and DESTROY THE WORLD!" So, he flips the switch!

And out of the building, smashing it to the ground, steps...a giant monster! Because of course it does. The creature looks rather patchwork, with a red head, a blue arm, a green leg, an orange leg...and unfortunately for Hal, a yellow left arm. Its torso is purple.

The mad scientist is cackling madly on the ground, but he doesn't seem to realize his creation doesn't actually care about him, and he's about to get stepped on any minute now. "Go forth, and destroy everything!"

Daniel Hastings has posed:
Suicide Slums. Strangely, the bookish fellow almost feels at home here. With his hands stuffed in the pockets of a ragged jacket, he walks along the streets looking much like everyone else here, poor, destitute, without hope and deeply lost in whatever their personal struggles might be. But then some crazed lunatic starts cackling from a nearby warehouse turned mad science lab. The homeless? Their instinct is to get the hell out of here. Daniel? He sighs heavily and light around him begins to distort.. his features losing focus. It's a handy trick for sure. "Now what in the name of all that is holy to the Queen is this man getting on about? Destroy everything? Ah well. If he weren't insane they couldn't well call him a mad scientist now could they."

Karen Starr has posed:
Patrol in Metropolis is... Boring, a lot of the time. Unlike cities such as Gotham, the crime that happens in Metropolis is typically of the throwing-cars variety, but is... Rarer. In fits and bursts. That boredom isn't exactly hitting Power Girl particularly hard, but the lack of activity does mean the trial is running longer.

Posted on a rooftop, because it's always on a rooftop, Karen takes a moment to offer a quiet sigh to herself. Of all the times... And then, across the city, she hears the Scientist going on about his new creation. There's another sigh, before she starts lifting off. "Well, here we go." she offers, "Slums, by the sound of it. Some asshole's gone Frankenstein. Might be a bomb." Then, she is off in the direction of the slums, shooting through the air at a speed that's difficult to see with the naked eye, if not for the trail of pink that the white bodysuit and red cape's blurs mix to produce.

Tim Drake has posed:
Tim Drake had a meeting at the Wayne Tech Metropolis Offices. He had just finished his meeting and got the call from Bruce. Tim finds his way to the car, and the secret compartments. He heads into an alley swaps to Robin, and then remotes the car out set to go to his hotel. Robin now in costume starts the whole rooftop, and grappling. With the height of buildings here he will mutter to himself, and says to himself "Gotta get a jetpack or something for this city." Soon he will be at least near the fight where he can see what is going on. "Rainbow Frank'n'Zilla fun."

Hal Jordan has posed:
And a green flash zooms through the air, as the Space Cop of Sector 2814 shows up, all green, and ready to go. When he sees who's assembled, "Power Girl, mind that left arm for me. This doesn't work on yellow." Looking around...there's Robin on the ground."Robin, check that machine down there, see if this thing can be undone..." Also, the mad scientist is about to get stepped on in 3, 2, 1, unless he's saved.

He is unaware of who Danny is, so he yells, "Get out of here" in his general direction, because presumptive civilians near a big monster tends to lead to casualties, and he tries to avoid those.

Hal's opening Salvo involves trying to put the thing in a one armed green straitjacket, since he can't affect the yellow arm. Unfortunately, his construct doesn't last for more than a couple seconds before the yellow arm smashes the whole thing to pieces, giving Hal a near immediate headache. "Ow."

Daniel Hastings has posed:
As one scientist the another, Daniel almost feels bad for the fact that this fellow's cranium fried itself. Seeing as how the monstrosity is about to lurch a foot in his general direction, he disappears into nothingness only to appear next to the raving lunatic. Then the pair disappear again only to reappear atop a brownstone. "Right, I suppose it is completely out of the realm of the rational to have you tell me how to turn off your silly monkey so.. stay here, hmm?" He extends a hand out towards the chest of the insane Doctor Madhouse and sends a beam of blue energy out to him, not unlike the blasts from Hydra weapons of old.. the real solid difference is that it merely concusses the fellow and doesn't dissolve him into particular atoms. So that's a plus.

Karen Starr has posed:
Hal has already handled what civilian presence is needed- which means that Power Girl can go to work. She doesn't have a whole lot of time- but she doesn't need much. Luckily, too, the stranger- who is definitely not a civilian- removes the Madman from the equation... Meaning Power Girl can get to her favorite part: Stress Relief.

She can't exactly cut loose- but the fact that the patchwork monstrosity isn't necessarily alive means she starts off putting a lot more into it than she normally would. "You know, I just wonder how the discoloration happens. None of that thing is even a human shade." She offers, before jetting forward. Aiming right for the chest of the Monster, she draws back and, putting all of the momentum of her movement behind a fist that could level a building, Power Girl aims a mighty hit right towards its sternum.

Tim Drake has posed:
Robin gets the message from GL, and with a firing of his grapple line, he is swinging down to where the scientist was in time to se someone appear next to him and then poof both are gone. Robin will pull another grapple from his belt shooting it towards the computer and any other of the evil scientists equipment, and tries to bring tables and such with him to a corner of the area away from being stepped on in the monsters dance dance revolution try outs. Once landed he will start to go through the things there trying to see if there is a way to stop the creature. Over the com he will add. "I think there is a paint factory a few blocks over if you can get him there without anyone getting hurt."

Hal Jordan has posed:
Teleporting guy Daniel has no trouble making sure the Scientist will live to go to jail, instead of being smashed into a fine red paste on the ground under this thing's foot. Still, it was easy to knock him out, Mad Scientists aren't especially durable.

Robin, meanwhile, finds the computer is still active, the mad scientist didn't think to log off, but if there's a kill switch or a turn it off or other such command, it isn't especially obvious. Might take take some hacking and/or digging in that computer's files.

Power Girl has no trouble putting a fist into...and even through...its sternum...but that's when it becomes evident this creature is probably not alive, because it seems to be able to take the punishment. And there's no blood, even though there really should be from a hit like that if it had blood to begin with. It attempts to grab Powergirl with both hands, making a sort of clapping motion with her in the middle.

Hal recovers enough to try again...and this time, he gets the idea to use smaller constructs. He decides to bind the things leg together with a narrow construct that forces its feet together, and renders it unable to move, and with little balance. If it gets hit again, it'll probably fall over...and woe to whatever building it falls on. The yellow arm is busy trying to crush Power Girl, so it can't hit the construct from there.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
With the big hitters seemingly taking care of the monstrosity, Daniel sweeps his immediate vicinity and notes the caped lad who's rummaging amongst the computers. "Well, my friend, let's see if you have any momentos to the family that might help us here." And so he drags the mad scientist into a prone position and begins frisking the fellows pockets, emptying it all onto the roof and rummaging for.. the notes of a raving man.

Karen Starr has posed:
Power Girl had hoped that her hit would destabilize it- These big things are so much easier to fight when they have no footing. Regardless, Karen pulls her arm out of the thing with a sick noise, just in time to brace herself against the incoming clap of its hands. Grabbing at her like that isn't easy- as both of her arms press outwards, preventing its hand from fully wrapping around her body. Still, this occupies her in a way she doesn't like.

She's not exactly the handholding type, either.

It only takes a moment for her to make a decision, as she does recall Hal's earlier problem. Taking advantage of the beast's sudden lack of legwork, Karen's eyes burst with red light, igniting the air in front of her in two visible crimson lines. These sun-hot beams trace along the stitching holding on the yellow arm, her intent clear- if that arm is a problem, it's coming off. It'll free her up, and make the Lantern more comfortable... Even though it'll fill the room with the scent of burning dead flesh.

Tim Drake has posed:
Robin will plug a wire from his wrist computer into the doctor's computer. Robin is not as nimble as Dick, strong Bruce, as balls to the walls as Jason was. No Tim is the smart one. He starts typing and running his codes on the machine, trying to get into the man's notes and controls. He is ready to search through stuff as fast as he can, wrist computer set to flag specific words. He does keep an eye on the area around him, wants to make sure the heavy hitters don't drop RFZ on him.

Hal Jordan has posed:
Danny finds notes quick enough, but dear lord, the scientific notation on here...whatever abbreviations he's using, they might as well be encoded. Not purposefully. No, they're encoded due to madness and the way this poor guy's head works...or doesn't work more accurately. Even if it still works enough to create a monstrosity.

Tim has some better luck...there's only so many ways to encode things on a computer, so no matter how crazy one is, it still has to make some sort of meaningful sense. It takes time to find the files, but his wire helps a lot, and his quick cracking finds the files on the monster...apparently the colors were because the scientist thought it was funny, the body is made out of some weird nonorganic material that looks organic to simulate life, it was animated by some classic Frankenstein BS...lightning bolt hit a machine somewhere, etc. The computer here actually summoned it from wherever it was being stored. It's still hard to get through because the text non sequiters a lot.

Power Girl's attempts to laser the yellow arm are successful, and it falls...unfortunately, it's falling towards a house, and Hal can't catch it. "Power Girl, catch that!"

But now that the golem no longer has yellow at its disposal, his Power Ring does a much better job of containing it, in a green straitjacket much like the original.

Tim Drake has posed:
Robin continues to type along, and blinks a moment, as he is looking through the files, and after a bit of typing he will blink a bit "Who is this guy Doofenshmirtz." He sighs a bit and will look at the programing, and over the coms he will say "I got good news and bad news. He put in a self destruct device in it's head, but the radio transmitter is damage, gonna have to put the button on it manually. The device is shoved inside his....." He looks up from behind the monster and towards the flying heros "Nose."

Karen Starr has posed:
Karen suddenly finds herself relaxed, and no longer in danger of being nabbed. This is good. The monster is tripping and his arm is falling towards a building. That's bad. Without having to be told- but to his credit, Hal has his head on straight enough to give her the order. Now that one half of the grip is gone, she can shove away from the other arm and get to work keeping people safe.

Zooming in under the falling arm, Power Girl clutches at the fingers on it and with a grunting heft, swings it around. Seemingly unbothered by the weight of it, she hooks around with its digits in hand, and spins towards its back. Her plan? Use its arm as a bat to send it moving -forward- instead of falling backwards, so as to keep it off balance, but prevent it from falling over until Hal has it fully restrained.

"Nope!" she calls, "Not doing that. I'll just throw it into the sun."

Hal Jordan has posed:
A self destruct mechanism? Located up its nose. Right. Mad Scientist. Oh so very mad, that scientist. "Hope nobody has a cellphone out..."

Because Hal creates two constructs. One, a barrier around the golem, and the second? Two green fingers, each going up a nostril. Tim was right, it self destructs...

And Hal was right, because the shrapnel crashes into his green force barrier, and shatters it under the impact. Fortunately, however, it's the construct, and by extension Hal...that took the hit, and not the people or buildings all around. It looked like there were a few kilotons of TNT in there...

Hal lands, looking a little woozy. "...Ow. Again."

Daniel Hastings has posed:
Daniel Hastings reappears on ground level next to Robin holding an unconscious Doofenschmerz up by the scruff with one hand and a notepad in the other. "This man is most certainly a candidate for mad scientist of the year. I know from physics and this.. this is physics with your brain hooked up to electrodes." Daniel looks much like an average joe except that light does funny things around him so his features are heavily blurred. A white guy.. with a strange accent. Either way, he lowers Doctor Doof to the ground.

Tim Drake has posed:
Tim Drake will pull out some zip ties from his belt, and puts both the mans hands and feet in a set. He even puts a muzzle on the fellow, some may think it a bit overkill, but you don't take chances with a mad scientist while in their lab. "And you are?" He asks, as he looks through the notepad.

Karen Starr has posed:
Karen watches this all go down, her face straightening into one of genuine disappointment- not in anyone specifically, but in the world that allows this particular series of events. She lands, setting the yellow arm of the monster down onto the ground. Approaching Hal and the others, she folds her arms, overlooking the re-dead Frankenstinian monster, and the now-cuffed Mad Scientist.

"Well." she begins, looking back to Hal. "Hopefully you're good with this patrol."

Hal Jordan has posed:
Hal still looks like that last blast took something out of him, even if none of it struck his body. "It's good, Power Girl. I appreciate having you here. We did this together. All of us. You too, Robin, and..." Pause. Did Danny give his name? Ot at least his hero title? Hal looks askance at Danny, indicating he doesn't know or perhaps didn't overhear what his preferred identity is.

Daniel Hastings has posed:
Daniel Hastings watches the muzzling and the tying with a sort of academic interest. Apparently, he knew the 'famous' heroes enough by cape and costume that he wasn't alarmed by it all. Or surprised by Robin's query. "D.. you may call me.. Journey. Yes. Journey." It's as if he thought of it just now and decided to go with it. "A fellow personage interested in the resolution of threats to civilization and all of that." He.. well it's hard to tell if he's smiling. He sounds chipper enough. "You would be.. the Green Lantern.. and.. Power Girl... and.. Pidg.. no.. Swa.. no no I'll have it in a moment. Robin! Yes. That's the bird. I do apologize, I've been learning as fast as one can. It's a lot to take in." Whatever 'it' is.

Tim Drake has posed:
Robin does not show any frustration on the other guy not knowing who he is. "Well Journey, thanks for the help, was a bit worried about him getting stepped on." He looks over to PG and GL and says "Will want to take this guys lab in see what he was working on besides thig guy and where he got or made the parts. I aint found his manifesto yet, but am sure there is one in there.

Karen Starr has posed:
After a moment, Karen's arms unfurl, and she nods at Hal. "Right. We did really well here. I'm still not sure we needed to blow off its head, but regardless of that, it's still neutralized." Her attention turns to the two that weren't a Lantern. "Thanks to you two. Great job." she then looks over the monster, which will be collected as evidence, certainly. Best not to touch, STAR Labs will get to it soon. She offers a sigh, then. "Right. Shall we be off?"

Hal Jordan has posed:
The sounds of police sirens in the distance can already be heard. Hal stopped the damage. He did not stop the noise, and a boom that loud could be heard for quite a long ways away. So naturally the authorities were incoming. "I think they've got it from here. Yeah, we can go. Robin, you coming with, or do you need to get back home?" Then, back to Journey, "Thank you for your assistance. We appreciate everyone who puts their life on the line to protect the city, and the world."

Daniel Hastings has posed:
"That does rather beg the question..." Journey begins. "This is Metropolis, yes? And you.. are all members of the Justice League." He says this like maybe he just got off the banana boat. "Is this a normal occurance then? You all don't seem terribly surprised." There's a vague turning of his head that is probably him looking at the three of them curiously.

Tim Drake has posed:
Tim Drake :does make sure he keeps his gaze on PG's face when he looks over to her, nope not letting his gaze lower there." He turns to Journy and says "Well I am not one of the Justice League more an intern." He jokes a bit, but looks down to his wrist and unplugs it from the computer. "Think I got everything copied, could use a lift up, buildings around here are pretty high up."

Karen Starr has posed:
Power Girl appreciates that, but is used to the opposite. Setting her hands on her hips, she surveys the situation for another moment, before turning her attention to Journey. "Actually, Green Lantern's the only person here who's a real member of the League." she mentions, offering this small shrug. "But this is a pretty normal occurrence, actually. Not -every- day, but most days." It is only a mild exaggeration. At Tim's statement, Power Girl is swift to respond.

    "Not it."

Hal Jordan has posed:
Hal is a little more accomodating, and creates a green floaty disk under Robin, which will easily get him to the roofs. "Going up." But he nods in agreement. "Well, yes. Robin is either Teen Titans or Young Justice, I forget which." And Power Girl is applying, but hasn't been approved yet. Soon, hopefully. The other League members will get their votes in as soon as they are able to do so.

"She's right, though. Most of what we're dealing with are the problems that Superman used to handle, before he died. Still, we carry on his legacy of protecting all the people of the world, as he would've wanted." Carrying the torch and all that.
