A Day On The Slopes
Date of Scene: 19 January 2021
Location: Ski Resort
Synopsis: Warren and Kitty hit the slopes, with Warren trying out a snowboard for the first time.
Cast of Characters: Kitty Pryde, Warren Worthington

Kitty Pryde has posed:
The first morning at the ski resort saw Kitty and Warren getting up early. A quick but hardy breakfast was consumed and then the pair donned their winter gear and grabbed snowboards and headed out of their cabin and over to the resort.

A few minutes on the low hills around the resort was a chance to get used to the snowboards instead of skis. And then the lift carried them up, up, up the mountain. It reaches the top and Kitty stands up, coasting down the small incline that helps people depart the ski lift before the seat heads back down the mountain.

"What kind of run are you feeling in the mood for?" Kitty asks, her goggles up on her head as she looks at the different difficulty runs that are available. She slides to a stop there, swiveling at the hips to look over towards Warren.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Wings and ski-lifts are not exactly made for each other, so unlike usual Warren actually has his wings folded back and restricted by his clothing like he used to do back when he was still masking as a normal human. Sliding to a stop next to Kitty, trying to get used to the difference between snowboard and skis. "I should have just carried us up here instead of taking the lift. It would have been faster. No line."

Unlike KItty, he doesn't wear goggles. His mutation developed his eyes for high winds and cold so he gets by with jut a pair of designer sunglasses. He lowers them slightly on his nose, taking a look at the various runs. "Probably something easy. If I was on skis I would already be heading for the double black-diamond runs, but this thing strapped to my feet? I'd break something if I tried that I think. Which may not be so bad if you had to nurse me back to health."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty laughs softly and reaches over. One of the benefits of a snowboard, no ski poles, leaving her hands free to rest one on the small of Warren's back. "Alright, next time you can bring us up," she agrees of skipping the lift.

She hesitates a moment seeming to give the rest of what Warren said some consideration. "Having you all to myself. Unable to leave. A handsome, captive man that I could feed chicken noodle soup to and bring you cold 7up. And maybe a sponge bath now and then? I think I could probably handle that. Of course I could do the same without the broken bones if you wanted," she tells him.

"Something easy is fine. I haven't been out on a snowboard in a year or two either," she tells him. "Did make a trip to Norway my first winter in England, but that's been it for any kind of skiing," she says. She sees if Warren is ready and then turns her board sideways, sliding down to towards the start of one of the runs on the low end of intermediate.

Warren Worthington has posed:
"Yeah, but then it becomes a spectacle, and I thought we were tying to avoid that as best we can. I mean there is only so much we can do about Hank, but..." Warren says with a grin, "Besides, if I am revealed in my full glory, you might have to start beating off snow bunnies with a stick, and we don't want you to get violent."

He leans over and gives Kitty a peck on the cheek, "It's true. You could. Don't ever let me stop you," he says with a chuckle as he follows behind Kitty, working on finding his footing. "So...I've been told that we just go this way. Really fast, and if something gets in our way...turn. That sound about right?" He peers over the lip that starts the run, "This doesn't look like the K-12."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty lets out an exaggerated, exasperated sigh. "Fine... no getting violent with the gold diggers," Kitty agrees as if she's making a big sacrifice for Warren there.

Her smile brightens at the kiss to her cheek. Lack of violence made up for. "Yep, pretty much. There's no having to keep both skis parallel so that's a plus. And you can try going both directions. Most people have one they prefer much more than the other. But then you're a lot better athlete than most people."

Kitty sets her goggles in place and grins over at Warren. "Ready?" she asks. If she gets the nod, she starts out, just going slowly and making big, graceful arcs back and forth across the slope, keeping her speed low for now.

Warren Worthington has posed:
"As I will ever be," comments Warren as he breaches the lip and starts to slide down the mountain. He follows Kitty's line, mimicking her slow and gradual back and forth motion seeming to pick it up easily enough as he follows her down the mountain.

"I've always liked skiing." he calls out when he is close enough to be heard, as they pass each other on their switchbacks, "It's almost like flying. Almost." Closest thing you can get to on the ground anyway that I can compare it to."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
"I can't fly!" Kitty calls to him as she cuts back across to her left, sending a little spray of snow downhill of herself as she makes the curve. "But I'm an excellent faller!" She works across the incline area that's left mostly clear of trees, then cuts back to the right, bringing her back near to Warren again.

Kitty makes her next turn and this time she steers for a little lip that lets her catch air and spin her board 180 degrees so her other foot is now the downhill one. "You're doing well, as expected," she says, flashing a pearly white grin Warren's direction as they criss-cross again. "Think we'll make it off the mountain without anyone from the school breaking or spraining anything?"

Warren Worthington has posed:
"Not with you jinxing us like that," Warren says with a laugh as he crosses close by her again. "You've done it now, Pryde. Best hope it isn't you that reaps what you sow!"

Warren cuts a sharp turn in an attempt to shower Kitty with some powder as she crosses, a mischievous grin on his face. "Opps, Sorry!" He's not sorry if the grin on his face is anything to go by. Not in the slightest.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty sees the snow coming just as it hits. She sputters and wipes snow from her cheeks. "Oh Worthington, you asked for it now!" she declares in a good-natured voice. Her snowboard suddenly just sinks into the snowy ground, until her hands are near enough to the ground she scoops up snow with them before the snowboard emerges from the ground again.

Kitty packs the snow into a snowball and then steers towards Warren, trying to chase him down like a fighter pilot trying to get her opponent's tail. When she's close enough she lets the snowball fly at him!

Warren Worthington has posed:
"Hey! That's cheating!" Warren laughs as Kitty starts to come after him, the pair 'dogfighting' like an X-wing and Tie Fighter down the trench of the Death Star. Sadly in this scenario, Warren ends up like Perkins as the snowball catches him in the back and explodes in powdery shrapnel.

The winged mutant grins, making another tight banking turn as he bends his knees to try and scoop up his own handful. "You've done it now, Pryde..."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty cackles gleefully and makes a sharp cut while Warren is going for his own supply to arm himself with, sending a little spray of snow his way before she shoots off to the side.

"Woah!" Kitty exclaims, just missing a tree and then cutting hard back towards Warren, not seeming to worry about the near miss. For that matter she would have had plenty of time to phase had it been needed.

She keeps an eye out for Warren then, trying to weave back and forth to make his aim difficult when he's ready to loose his orb of snowy death.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Sputtering at his own facefull of snow, the Angel growls playfully and gives chase. Years of skiing combined with natural dexterity seem to be letting the blonde pick up the nuances of 'surfing on snow' pretty easily.

The near miss gives him pause in his pursuit, as it's all fun and games till someone ends up hurt, but as she recovers well enough he steps up the pace again and lobs the ball ahead of where she is going to be, trying to anticipate where she will intersect the ball much like a sniper leads his target. "Look out!"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
The snowball arcs through the air of the sunny day, passing overtop of the glistening pure white snow, to finally merge with the form of Kitty Pryde in a minor snowy explosion.

Kitty stops snowboarding like a person in control, instead letting the board just kind of wobble back and forth. To return to the fighter plane analogy, it's like a plane that's hit and loses control but takes awhile to slowly drop out of the sky.

But eventually it happens, and Kitty lets herself just fall into the snow deadweight, rolling a few times for extra dramatic impact before landing on her back. She kicks her feet out of the snowboard and then spreads her legs and draws them in, while waving her arms out to either side.

Making a snow angel.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Laughing, Warren angles towards her now prone form and comes to a stop above where she lays, adding insult to non-injury by sending another spray of snow over her. "Uh oh...we have a Kitty down."

As graceful as he can be in the air, he is not used to the snowboard so he is far less graceful as he plops down into the snow, landing on his rump as he kicks at the board to get it off his feet. "I'm going to assume since you are making snow angels, that you're ok, right? I don't need to call ski patrol or airlift you out of here?"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty rolls off of her snow angel and looks at it. "I'm going to call her... Warrenia," she declares, her grin giving Warren all the answer that he needs that she's ok.

She puts her snowboard in the snow edge down so it won't run off on its own, and then moves over beside Warren in the snow. "So what do you think of the snowboards?" she asks him. She takes off her glove and reaches up to brush a bit of snow from his hair, and then cup his cheek as she leans in to give him a soft kiss, her lips a little cooler than normal.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren Worthington says, "Aww, she's beautiful. Much like her creator." Warren grins and pats the snow next to him as Kitty makes her way over, "Snowboarding is fun. I can see the appeal of it over skis. Bet you I could shred a half-pipe if I wasn't all bound up," he laughs as he returns the kiss. "I might try that tomorrow, 'undercover' be damned. We will just have to see."

He places his arm over her shoulders, drawing her in closer for a hug, "So...why are we sitting in the show instead of the warm lodge? Are you trying to freeze my ass off?""

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty scoots over, quite content to have Warren's arm about her and to press herself over against his larger body. "You absolutely would," she agrees about him on the half-pipe. "Has to be more fun than on skis I would think, too," she says.

Kitty nuzzles another cool kiss to Warren's cheek. "Well, if I get your butt frostbite, then I probably will get... have... to rub ointment onto ir something," she teases. She leans over again, this time for a little Eskimo kiss. One made more authentic by her cold nose even if his is still warm!

"Ok, lodge it is. Maybe a couple of Irish coffees or something of the short?" she suggests as she gets back to her feet.

Warren Worthington has posed:
"Why Ms. Pryde," Warren grins as he gets back to his feet again, brushing snow off his pants, "Are you asking me to contribute to the delinquency of a minor by putting whiskey in your coffee? For shame."

Warren snickers as he tries to get his boot back into the binding, and manages to fall back on his butt the first time. He gets wise and puts his foot in, then tries to stand. "Because I so will."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde gives a delighted laugh. "I promise I won't tell," she tells him as she sets her snowboard crosswise to the hill and then steps her boots into the clasps. "The whiskey will help give some grit to fight off all the snow bunnies once they see your blond hair, blue eyes, and rugged good looks," Kitty tells Warren.

Kitty slides slow, just a few feet, over towards Warren. Enough that she can reach over and give his butt a little smack. "Race you down to the lodge?" she offers.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren grins, "You're on...but no phasing through trees and stuff to go straight down. That's cheating!" He returns the slap to the butt, and angles the snowboard down hill letting gravity do it's thing. "Last one down owes the other a backrub!"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty lets Warren get started first then turns and follows along behind. She's not phasing through anything, but she's going straight down the mountain. At one point she goes over a spot that launches her into the air a good twenty feet, thanks to the ground beneath her falling away.

She manages to hit the landing, though with her butt scraping the snow for a moment before she's popped back up on her feet normally again. There are a few wobbles though back and forth before she's finally got her balance again. It bleeds of enough speed that Warren has an easy lead on her now.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren barrels down the mountain, his sounds of delight tossed back towards Kitty on the wind. Heading down at speed, the sudden reminder that they are in a public resort comes in the form of another snowboarder who swerves into Warren's path. Warren leans into the edge to miss them, but catches his edge on some ice and the board hitches causing the mutant to tumble head over feet into the bank, sliding a good 20 feet down the mountain headfirst before coming to a slow stop. His board continues on without him for another 30 before ending up on in a pile of snow on the side.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty zooms on past Warren, avoiding spraying him with a plume of snow this time. She does slide to a stop by his board to help stop it and leave it where it won't keep sliding down, pushing an edge into that snow pile.

"See you at the bottom, Twinkletoes," Kitty calls up the hill to him. She's channeling her inner Toph for some reason it seems. She gives a little wave and then continues on down the hill, to victory!

Warren Worthington has posed:
Grumbling, Warren picks up what is left of his pride, and his body, and makes his way down to get his snowboard. He straps himself back in as he waves off the other snowboarder that made their way over to check on him, "I'm fine. It will take much more than that to put me out of commission, but thanks for your concern."

He pushes off, letting his speed build up again as he chases after Kitty, the people behind him telling him he should slow down...which he ignores and lowers his body to try and put up less wind resistance.
