Kurt's Bar - Chance Meeting

Synopsis:	While hanging out at her favorite bar, Ballista runs into one of the other mutants she's quarreled with in the past. The two hatch a plan to get Ballista out from under Null Corp's oppressive thumb.

Leena Danvers has posed:
Kurt's Bar. It's not a fancy name. It's not a fancy place. The bar entrance is a back alley in Brooklyn. It's impressive the place manages to stay open considering it's not faux dive but is actually just a dive. But Kurt's will sell to anyone, but because of Ballista's recent actions, when her and Sally kicked a bunch of punks that were causing trouble out, the raptor has found herself a good place to drink.

At the moment it's just her in the bar, and she's eating some chicken wings and drinking a cold beer while Kurt messes around with something behind the bar. He's an older man, mid 60s, with an eyepatch over his left eye and scarring on his face. Judging by the decor, he was most likely in the Army in Vietnam.

Alopex has posed:
The telltale sign of the entrance opening would be obvious to everyone inside. Seeing as there's only two folks, everyone may not be a lot, but it's a dive bar. It's not a huge deal, yeah? What walks in, however, is a new face that seems surprised at what they've found. A mutant arctic fox, clad in not-so-tattered garb, plus scarf, has come in out of the cold. They weren't sure what to expect behind the door, but a full bar was not among their thoughts, clear from their expression.

Said expression vanishes as she wanders ahead, doesn't realize just who's near by chomping away at wings, and eventually takes a place at the bar. Huh. Lets see what sort of reaction she gets. She has no idea just how open minded Kurt actually is.

Leena Danvers has posed:
Kurt has to turn his head to take a look at the door opening, but upon seeing, well, he can't really say who as he has no idea, but he walks over to her part of the bar once she sits down.

Pex is being watched by the other patron, though Ballista hasn't said anything yet. Kurt's 'no fighting' rule is pretty strict and she'd hate to ruin the only place she's found to get drinks.

Well, no fighting unless he says so. He does keep a double barrel behind the bar just in case, after all.

Alopex has posed:
Well, the lack of a 'Get out' is pretty encouraging. Though, as bars aren't really the fox's scene: "Hello. Ah, menu, if you don't mind?" She isn't sure what to make of the man -yet-. He's certainly rough looking, patch and all, but it helps that she hasn't been glared at or otherwise.

Ballista still isn't really noticed. Soon enough, sure.

Leena Danvers has posed:
He grabs a menu from the back of the bar and puts it down in front of her, "Here ya go." He then wanders over towards Ballista, who casts another side eye at Alopex. She's tempted to say something, but she opts to keep her mouth shut for the moment. She doesn't want to spark some kind of ninja reaction or something and wind up with a throwing star in an eye for her trouble.

Alopex has posed:
"Thank you." At least she's polite in most situations. Said menu is taken, opened, studied a bit, with her first curious glance given to Kurt as he wanders catching sight of blue, scale, and looking her way. Oh. Ooooooooooh. .... Well. ... At least she hasn't shot at the fox. Yet.

"I'm not going to throw something at you."

Leena Danvers has posed:
"Good 'cause I'm off the clock." Replies Ballista, as she takes a drink from her bottle of beer, "And Kurt has a super strict no fighting policy. Except if you're already causing trouble." She grins and takes another bite of a wing, by which she kinda just throws the whole thing into her mouth and chomps it down in one go, "You know Sally wandering in here I can understand, but I pegged you for like, 'upscale sake slash karaoke bar' type.

Alopex has posed:
"Kurt?" She glances at the barkeep, then finally over to Ballista properly. "Oh, right. Well, in all honesty, a door that says OPEN when you're a bit hungry and really thirsty is an open invitation so.. Here I am?" She isn't really sure what to think at the moment. The've been at each other's throats before, but to see that the raptor is capable of just.. not really bothering is... not what she expected.

A few more moments with the menu ends up with the fox ordering what is likely a greaseball of a burger, and some water. For now. Maybe something harder later if she feels like it. "Heh. Sake. Eh. Having that all the time can be boring."

Leena Danvers has posed:
"Well what can I say. Admittedly it's probably being really stereotypical to think ninjas drink sake all the time." Ballista replies. At hearing the burger being ordered, she does grin, "That's a good choice. Anyway, look.." She takes a second to look around, "I ran into Sally the other night here. I..Well, she'll tell you more, I'm sure. But I don't want to fight you guys anymore. Frankly you've kicked my ass more than once and I don't like it, but...Well, I don't think Null has my best interests at heart anymore."

Alopex has posed:
Blink. The compliment on the order gets that. The rest of what Ballista has to say, however, gets the fox to turn and look over. "The only reason I've ever fought with you is because you either attacked us first, or I was defending my friends. If you aren't doing that, then I won't fight with you," she points out as Kurt brings her the water previous asked for.

"As for Null? Well. I have no love lost for them if they are making mutants out of people or animals AND they aren't treating them right. You just... seem like the sort that likes what you've become, but if you're being mishandled, well.." Sip. "I have far to much experience with that, and so does Kai."

Leena Danvers has posed:
"They're not giving me much choice in the matter." Ballista replies, "They keep saying if I can capture Sally and the rest of the Mutanimals they'll turn me back to normal but.." She muses faintly, "I don't think that they can undo this. I don't think anybody can."

She eats another couple of wings, and then finishes off her drink, "You were with the Foot right? Did you ever see anything with their mutants that'd make you think they can undo this?"

Alopex has posed:
"Everything I ever saw with the clan? The people that came after me either volunteered, are happy with what they became or were an animal first. ... But to answer your question? No. I don't know if it can be reversed. I don't really think the Foot were ever interested in reversing it to begin with. Null probably has more experience with it than the foot, if were being honest here. If anyone DID have the ability, it would be them. However..." Food is being brought out, the fox gives it a glance, gives a nod to Kurt, then glances back, "It feels like a carrot on a stick, to me."

Leena Danvers has posed:
Ballista nods a little bit, "I'll have to poke around a bit more but I have to be careful. I think I'm on the outs with management right now because I haven't had any results.." She shakes her head and sighs, "Gotta be an easier way. Even if I can't go back to my old form...Which I mean I'm not sure if I should at this point.." She hmfs, "They could just 'disappear' me if they wanted to."

Alopex has posed:
She's listening. You can always tell Alopex is listening by the ears, which are turning to pick up everything Ballista is putting down. Especially as she's chomping on that burger. The raptor was right. It was a good choice, indeed. After a gulp of water, "Mm. I don't know how open hearted my friends will be to all of this, but if Sally vouches for you, and you're absolutley sure about this, we'll see about figuring something out. I know Sally hates null, and I don't care for them so... well, just be on your best behavior and I'll try to figure something out."

Leena Danvers has posed:
Ballista lifts her right hand up with two fingers together, "Scouts honor." She says, in regards to her being on her best behavior, "I'll dig from my end, you guys do your ninja thing. We'll figure something out I'm sure." She grabs another drink from Kurt, and then takes a glance at Alopex, "Hey Kurt, put her meal on my tab. Let's call it a show of good faith."

Alopex has posed:
Well, that is the best way to get on Alopex's good side. Free food. It earns the raptor at least one point of respect, a smile, and a grateful nod before another nom is taken out of the thing. "Mm.." she's thinking. Water. "I have a few ideas. I'll see who else will get on board. We'll see."

Leena Danvers has posed:
Ballista grabs the basket of wings and dumps the rest of them into her mouth in one go, following it up by chugging her beer. She takes a second and then gets up, putting a napkin on the bar in front of Alopex as she heads off. It's got a phone number on it. Ballista assumes Alopex knows how to use a phone, after all.
