Hello Dani!
Date of Scene: 21 January 2021
Location: Basketball Court
Synopsis: Dani, Rahne and Rogue go on a mini-adventure to track down Rogue's wayward dog in the forest.
Cast of Characters: Rogue, Danielle Moonstar, Rahne Sinclair

Rogue has posed:
Rogue was out and about this afternoon, at least in some fashion. It's cold out, but the snow is at least melted away except in the shady parts of the backyard. Wearing a black peacoat, a matching wool-knit hat, with a green weater and grey jeans on, the southern gal is holding on to a leather leash, with a yellow lab dog at the end of it.

The two are weaving theirw ay through the backyard on their way back from strolling around the lake. The dog, named 'Jeepers', is pausing to sniff at every bush and shrub along the cultivated pathway, and Rogue? Well her eyes are down on her phone as she thumbs at it whilst walking.

Danielle Moonstar has posed:
Dani likes the colder months. Reminds her of the mountains and how she grew up so that means she goes on a lot of walks and trips into the woods around the school's grounds. So as Rogue is coming in, the native woman is pulling on her coat, steps from the main building. She spies the woman and the dog even as her pace quickens to loosen up the legs. The pace will close the distance in no time time as she follows the trail toward the leg. "Taking your friend on a walk," she calls out to the pair.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue's eyes are down on her phone when she hears the voice call out to her, and to Jeepers. It takes her a second to peel her stare from her phone, but when she does, she slips it in to the right side pocket on her wool coat. Recognizing Dani quickly, a grin spreads over Rogue's steel-purple-painted lips. "Well hey there." She says in her smoky southern hued voice, then glances to the yellow lab whose tail start to wag wildly at Dani's approach. "And yeah, he's takin' me for a walk." She adds with a smile.

"What's up in your world?" The Belle asks, standing motionless now as she and Jeepers are next to one of the walkway statues and shrugs that the dog likes to sniff at.

Danielle Moonstar has posed:
As soon as Dani gets up to the dog she crouches low and speaks to him in a calm voice, "Hello there. Friend." She has a way with animals, and long as Jeepers doesn't mind the smell of someone like Rahne, there should be little problem. The canine will get a good scruff behind the ear and neck before Dani looks up. "Just going for a walk. I enjoy doing that. Big mansions are less my daily style. I like to get out and feel the wind on my skin. Not to mention, too many people in there sometimes." Stretching her legs to stand, "Mind company on your walk?"

Rogue has posed:
Jeepers doesn't mind one bit, in fact his whole butt and body are swaying with the motion of his tail wagging now just to prove it. He's one of those dogs who gets so excited to see people he almost seems embarrassed by it. Rogue just grins at this before she watches Dani pet him. "He's a ham, this one." She says of her dog named after a Scooby Doo reference. The Belle's green eyed gaze goes up to the mansion-in-question and she snickers before looking back. "You're not wrong, and we definitely share that sentiment. I grew up outside in the tall grass'n flowin' flowers. I get cabin fever, even in facny places like this."

A nod is given to Dani, and a tug to the leash. "Come on, just headed around the perimeter'a the yard. Bit've a security sweep too, makes it more fun t'think of it that way." She says with a little grin for the other.

Danielle Moonstar has posed:
"Can't fault a guy for being happy to see another and being friendly." Dani slips her hands into the coat pockets and will walk beside Rogue, happy to let the dog weave and move among their feet as he likes. "Mountains more for me. And I know like everyone thinks 'Reservation' means we have teepee huts or whatever, but that isn't the case at all. But you would be really hard pressed to find anything like the school in size." Since the topic of security came up, "You any good at tracking, Rogue? Knowing how to read trail signs and the like?"

Rogue has posed:
As they start their walk headed toward the eastern side of the yard, they make their way around the pool house and the patio that the pool itself resides on, moving along the path that is just north of it that will lead out to the eastern side yard of the property, which has them moving through some well cultivated arches that are covered in green leaves.

Rogue grins at the other's words. "People are creatures'a habit, and often just picture the first cliche thing that comes t'mind. Reservation? Oh, that must mean there's a casino there!" She looks over to Dani and gives her a grin. "People are dumb like that."

At the question of tracking, Rogue glances down to the dog ahead of them who is happily trotting along the pathway. "Ah, not so much animals... but... people? Maybe a little more. When I absorbed Carol, I got quite a diverse amount of training from her memories... though it's soemtimes a bit jumbled in my head."

Danielle Moonstar has posed:
Dani can't help but groan and roll her eyes at the casino joke. "You don't have to convince me. I run into that and worse often. I remember I asked my Grandfather once if white people actually had classes in being rude. He chided me for making assumptions and generalzations as others do of me." She keeps pace easily with the two-toned powerhouse as they talk. "If you like, I could always teach you a few easy things. May come in hand sometime. You can fly so it could help you more then most when trying to find someone. No pressure if you rather just enjoy the walk." Dani shrugs her shoulders and seems truly relaxed and fine with either path they take.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue grins at the other's reaction to her bad joke and she nods along with the response to it. "Hey, white people be crazy." She jests back in return, following it with a laugh. "But yeah, in my... whatever you wanna call it... exploration'a the country, I found that just about every type'a human bein' was just as willin'n capable of bein' a piece of shit as any other kind. /But/ that thankfully swings the other direction too... and I've met plenty'a great people, of all colors, shapes'n'sizes. Even met a guy with green skin and two heads on the beach in California. He was as nice as could be."

With that stroll down her memory lane fnished, the Belle glances over to the other and flashes her a smile. "That sounds fun, actually. I'm always up for learnin' new skills." Her voice lowers then and she leans over to whisper-loudly. "It's all apart'a my plan for world domination, ya see." She leans back with a visible grin showing. "Teach me, Senpai Moonstar." She then adds, like a dork.

Danielle Moonstar has posed:
"Just remember me fondly when you are the High Queen Empress of the world," Joking right back with Rogue. She has a wide grin on her face and nods to the trails. "We'll have to go deeper to the woods but I can try to show you some of what my Grandfather taught me. The easiest part on trails tracking is to remember a few simple facts. The deeper the track the heavier and harder something hit the ground. The farther apart the tracks the faster it was going. And that Hollywood lies about a lot of tracking. It's almost as much an educated guess as it is following signs." She takes her hands out of her pockets and looks down at Jeepers and then the leash. "He well trained? We could have him run off and make a trail for us to follow. Pretty sure we could get him back easily no matter what."

Rogue has posed:
There comes a soft little laugh from Rogue upon hearing that High Queen Empress bit, and with it comes a nod of approval. "Will do."

As they turn then to a smaller side pathway that veers back toward Breakstone's eastern woods-- and eventually leads to Pugsley Creek --Rogue looks to Jeepers and then over to Dani. "I mean, yeah, probably could. He's trained enough to Sit, and Shake Hands, I dunno about 'run away and let us try and find you' though. He's far more likely t'just stare at us and... well, unless there's a squirrel or rabbit." She smirks then as they make their way down this smaller pathway now.

"You mean t'tell me that Aragorn staring at the battlefield couldn't actually know all that stuff about Hobbits that he pretended t'know? Damnit, Hollywood..." She smirks over at Dani again.

Danielle Moonstar has posed:
Dani can't help but laugh and say, "When they got to the wood edge? THAT Aragorn could probably get. But he had magical Ranger Dundee stuff also. But most of those 'trails' would have been lost in the big fight with the horse guys attacking the camp." With that illusion shattered Dani will do her best to encourage Jeepers to run off and play. Cheatting a bit with her powers to give the dog the smallest of nudges to run and hide. But he's a big excitable dog, that should lead an easy trail for her to show to Rogue on how to find obvious sings.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue just laughs light at the Lord of the Rings chat. "Damn those movies, livin' in my head rent free." is her response before the trio reach the edge of Breakstone woods and she lets Jeepers off the leash. He does indeed just turn around and look at the two of them before reacting to Dani's powers and suddenly is off. Rogue's green eyes watch him go and she exhales. "Anxiety risin'." She announces then before glancing over to Dani again. "Ya don't realize how much these darn animals get attached to your spirit, till you spend all the time walkin'em around so they can poo in the yard."

She sweeps her stare back out to the trees. "So like, the ground is wet, he's gonna have super muddy paws and leave pretty big prints in the earth, yeah?"

Danielle Moonstar has posed:
Will reach out and make sure to touch Rogue's arm where there is a layer between them, "It'll be fine. You got me here. Remember nothing is scarier then me, right? Jeepers will be fine. We'll find him and if need be we can fly around and use our powers to get him fast." There's a smile when Rogue makes the first observation. "Right. Don't worry I'll help you with a bath on him if you want. But not only will the paws get muddy and the ground softer for prints. But an animal running through the woods will shake loose water from the branches and shrubs. So you can see a trail left by that. I'll show you." She'll still give the dog a good 30 second head start before they start off.

Rogue has posed:
Those 30 seconds are spent trying to act cool and patient by the southern belle. She glances at the woods, and then back to Dani to show her a light grin. "That dog gets more baths than Scott gives his car." Which is a lot! "But yeah, it's cool." The talk of tracking indicators is 'absorbed' by the Belle who nods a few small times in understanding. "I uh... sorta tracked a bear out here this past fall, with Ororo'n some'a the kids. It... it didn't go so well. Hank had me leave it alone, and the damn thing ended up back with the kids. It grabbed hold'a Gabby by her damn arm and just tore in to it. 'Course, Gabby just... laughed and thought it was fun." She relays this, following it with a little laugh as a hand reaches up to adjust the cap on top of her head. "Ended up flyin' that bar far up north, which was... fun. Flyin' bear."

Danielle Moonstar has posed:
Dani's smile falters ever so slightly at the mention of a bear. "Yeah. Bears can be bad news." Moving past that topic in a hurry as she focus on finding Rogue's furry friend Jeepers. She'll point down, "That's Jeepers. You can tell he was running cuz see how the prints are tight together and then far apart? We know it is him too cuz the toes are spread apart far and looks 'rounder' then a wild animals' would."

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
"Did ah hear somethin' 'bout a bear?" comes the Scottish lilt as the slender redhead makes her way towards the voices she hears up ahead. She's reasonably good in the woods, though nowhere so good as Dani. Once she sees the other two, a bright smile crosses her face. "Hey there, you two!"

Rogue has posed:
Rogue and Dani are on the eastern edge of the line of trees that lead in to Breakstone forest. In Rogue's hands is a dangling leather leash because they just let her dog off said leash to run free, so Dani can show off-- and detail the ins and outs of --how to track him.

Rogue is listening to this rundown, her eyes roaming over the indicated 'clues' and she grins lightly. "Right, yeah." She says in response, before looking up to the woods and taking a step toward them.

"This is gonna end with him huntin' us like some kinda Rambo dog, I think." She jokes, smirking to Dani as she tries to follow the 'clues' toward where the Lab ran off too.

At the sight, and sound, of Rahne's arrival, Rogue offers a grin and a wave with a dark green gloved hand. "Heya, Sugh. Dani's tryin' t'kill my dog, I think." She's joking, of course!

Danielle Moonstar has posed:
Dani turns to the voice she knows well, "Rogue was telling me about her encounter with a bear in the past. I was teaching her some 'tracking 101' tips." She doesn't seem worried about Jeepers hunting them or having a Rambo dog situation. "Nah, dog isn't the best meat to eat if you can avoid it." She nods to the Scottish girl, "now HER paw prints when she's changed have a much 'tighter' toe pattern and more pronounced claw indents too. Big difference between a wolf and a dog."

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
There was a day when Rahne would probably have fallen for that. But she's less naive these days, and she knows Dani well. "I'm pretty sure she's nae goin' to kill yer dog." But the announcement of the lessons gets a grin. "Ah suppose once y' graduate to better prey, I can lead y' on a merry chase."

Her eyes sweep the area for the dog herself, and she scents the air just a bit. "Nae paw prints from me today, Dani."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue isn't aware that Dani used her powers to encourage Jeeps to run off either, so she's looking out in to the woods as they walk between the trees, having to curve their way through and around some of the forest obstacles to navigate.

"Not a tasty meat, and implyin' that Rahne might be tastier." Rogue says with a growingly visible grin. "Got it. Weirded out, but still, got it!" A smile is sent to Dani before the Belle looks to Rahne.

"God, your accent is my absolute favorite, Rahne." She just tosses out. "I'm gonna make a million dollars someday, then hire ya t'just read all my text messages and e-mails t'me. Is that cool?"

She jingles the leash then and looks down at the ground. Gloved finger POINTS. "There's foot prints. He went thatta way." She aims up to the north east. "Toward Pugsley Creek. He loves it over there."

Danielle Moonstar has posed:
"Don't feel like showing off, Rahne?" Dani is smiling at her close friend, and has no accusation in her tone. "You should see her texts Rogue. They have her accent as well." She double checks the tracks that Rogue found and nods her head, "good eyes. Helps when you know your quarry. But let's see if we can gain some ground by followin the trail."

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
"Yer a one t' talk there, Rogue! Ah love listenin' tae you. All "Ah just adore yer accent, sugah"." That comes out in a HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE hybrid of both Scots lilt and Southern drawl.

She looks over in the direction Rogue points, and then shifts a bit. It's part of why the Scot girl tends to wear horribly baggy clothes; they still fit her if she shifts to her transitional form, which is exactly what she does. Now a werewolf in a less-baggy jumper and a jacket, she looks over towards the Creek, and sniffs the air a couple times. She's not above cheating a bit to "track" her way.

Rogue has posed:
An open and honest laugh comes from the Belle after hearing that Rahne texts with her accent. "Seriously? If I tried t'write the way I say words, it'd probably be damn near unreadable!" A big smirk is sent between the two other girls with her on this journey to reclaim the lost Hobbit-Dog. "But yeah, there's a tire swing out there, and a nice little beach area that we brought in some sand for. He likes t'go down there and jump in the water... Figurin' that must be where he's run off'ta."

"You let loose in these woods much, Rahne?" Rogue asks. "I probably would... I mean, I fly over'em all the time, just cause that's... ya know... pretty damn fun."

Danielle Moonstar has posed:
"Going to make me feel bad because I don't have a distinct accent." Then Dani laughs and hams up the cringing at the butchered accent from the Scottish lass. "Don't tell Rogue the answers now, Rahne." The native girl is hanging back and watching the girls as much as the trail, wanting this to be fun and safe for all. Jeepers included. She will move to follow the trail, "Well that will save us the trouble of doing a bath for Jeepers. Also I'll show you some of Rahne's texts. They always make me smile. I save some for bad days." She can't help but also keep an eye on THEIR tail and trails out of habit. Making sure nothing comes up on them as they hunt their 'prey' down. Cute and adorable as he is.

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
"I'm nae goin' t' say anything." Rahne steps carefully out of her shoes; /those/ don't even come close to fitting her revised feet. She carries them along with her, and starts to move. She'll bring up the rear; Rogue's supposed to be doing the tracking, and Dani teaching her. She doesn't want to get in the way.

Rogue has posed:
There comes a good deal of snickering form the southern gal. "I need t'see'em now." She says of the texts before glancing back to Rahne. "I don't even know how t'turn off my spellchecker on my phone." But her eyes dart forward again as she hops over a log and through some snowy-icy-chunks that are lingering on the other side of it, her boots crunching through it all.

"You have a accent, Dani. Every does. Ya just gotta go t'some place that sounds way different from ay for it t'stand out, is all. I can hear bits'a yours shinin' through though, here'n'there."

As she says this, her eyes are on the ground and she points again. "There. He bounded up that incline, look there's even gunk all collected at the bottom."

"Jeepers!" Rogue calls out, as they're coming up on the Creek now just over said incline.

Danielle Moonstar has posed:
Dani gives Rahne a wink and a little smile as they go behind the stripped hair girl. She is darting her eyes this way and that as she checks out what signs there are around them Rogue didn't notice before. "I could always talk to you both in my native tongue but you wouldn't understand me one bit." She looks at where it was pointed, "Good eyes. You can tell to how he dug into the hill more. Let's see if he'll come for you and is up there."

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
"No one needs t' tease me aboot mah texts." She'll easily move to climb up the ridge with the other two. "Now, of course, the other thing y' should be thinkin' of is how t' catch yer prey. I mean, no in the case of THIS prey. When they come when y' call, it's nae really a serious test of that."

Rogue has posed:
As Rogue skip-hop-jumps her way up that muddy gross-snow-y incline, she reaches the top triumphantly with her gloved hands impacting against the sides of her denim covered thighs. She grins back down at Dani and Rahne. "I won't tease ya for the texts, I'll just... yeah, okay, maybe it is teasin'. But it's good natured, I promise!"

With a sigh, Rogue looks over to the winter-bare bushes that sit on the ground between here and the streaming creek that is Puglsey. "What language is that?" Rogue asks Dani then. "I speak French, I actually probably speak it better than I do English." She says with a sly grin. "I wish I could learn more, but... yeah... hard things are hard." A heavy sigh follows that as the southern girl walks down toward the creek, brandishing a milkbone out of her coat pocket.

"Jeeps! I got your Scooby Snack!" The Belle shouts then and there, answering the 'how' in this case, to catch their prey.

Danielle Moonstar has posed:
Dani is more careful in climbing up the hill and goes smooth and carefully. She will follwo Rogue up and smiles at the banter she is listneing. "My native language is Tsehésenestsest?tse." She says that word smooth and easilly as can be. "I know a few other languages as well." Unable to resist, "Rahne does that smell good to you at all?" Of course she means the dooggie treat. "We could split one together."

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
Amusingly, Rahne's head /does/ perk up when Rahne takes out the snack, though she looks aside. Thankfully, she can't be seen blushing under the fur. "Ah'm nae a dog, Dani. That treat's for Rogue's pupper." She considers. "Actually, my scent like this might scare him off, anyhow." She shifts back down to human. "No need t' scare the poor little boy." She grins back to Rogue a bit as she agrees not to tease her about the texts. "Just Google for "Scottish Twitter"." she offers. That way /she/ doesn't have to be personally embarassed.

Rogue has posed:
It doesn't take too long for Jeepers to reappear out of the bushes near the edge of the creek. He comes bounding back up toward them with his fur shedding water. He apparently hadn't seen Rahne in her other form!

Rogue is staring at Dani, trying to process that word she'd just said. "Well hell. I mean, yeah, that sounds impressive. So who needs accents in the Westchester area, if ya know how t'speak... whatever it is ya just said." She grins, in a way that a southerner would at such a confusing language name!

THAT SAID, Rogue flips the Scooby Snack at Rahne anyway, then draws out another one and lets Jeepers run up and grab it with his teeth and tongue. "He eats our food all the time, we shoudl be allowed t'eat his too, right?" Is her logic in this case! "And I am... gonna instantly google that when we get back t'the school."

Danielle Moonstar has posed:
"I'll get us a box of treats we can all enjoy later," promises Dani. She goes over to offer a shoulder to Rahne so the girl can get her shoes on and avoid as much mud as possible. "If you write my language in English it has a lot of 'E's with accents on it. I told you what I had said." If Rahne doesn't catch the treat then Dani will try to do it, her hands are more free anyway. "You will have a fun time with that website, and I would say you got the first basic run of tracking down an animal. If you want we can do other lessons later. Maybe Rahne can try to give us both a challenge."

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
Rahne catches the Scooby Snack from Rogue. Okay, NOW she blushes. "I'm nae goin' tae eat a dog biscuit!" She tosses the biscuit to Dani. "Give it tae the pupper." She'll start to get her boots back on; her feet are getting cold. "Fair enough, if the both of y' want."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue is laughing softly at the dog biscuit argument. "They're made for people too, legit." She tries to conince the other before pulling another from her coat pocket. "Check it--" And with that said, the Belle just bites the Scooby Snack in half and chews on it for a few seconds before she barks, like a dog. Then barks again.

"Uh oh, it's begun!" A look over her shoulder is sent down toward her own butt. "I think I feel a tail growin' bakc there!" With a smirk, she looks back at the two of them, then HOOKS the leash back on to Jeepers collar. "Come on, lets go see what they're makin' for dinner. This thing is dry and unsatisfyin'. Like Doctah McCoy's sense'a humor. We'll talk about more trackin' opportunities too."
