Broken Mirrors: Prey for Spiders
Date of Scene: 24 January 2021
Location: Red Room 'Clinic', Moscow
Synopsis: Natasha wakes up on a table minus a fair amount of blood and fights her way out of a Red Room 'Clinic' shortly before is explodes.
Cast of Characters: Nadia Pym-van Dyne, Natasha Romanoff

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Light. Painful blinding light. So light headed and woozy. Open eyes seems like a bad idea as consciousness returns to Natasha, her mind slowly re-emerging from the blackness of dreamless slumber. Where is she? On a cold metal table it feels like. Memories of the dart hitting her neck from a blind angle return. The clinic. Yelena. The Red Room. She came to turn herself over. This is apparently the result.

Around Natasha in the room there are voices. "How much more do we need?" A male voice asks.

"I think we have taken enough for the current project's requirements, but it never hurts to have some extra." Comes a woman's voice, "We should have another hour before the drugs wear off. That dart had enough sedative for an adult tiger."

Or a Black Widow operative in their experience, but Natasha is not just any operative.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff can never quite bring herself to be grateful for the physical benefits of what she is, and she's not gonna start now. But benefit her they do, as she slowly regains consciousness; though the only outward sign is a particularly sharp exhalation from her nose before she rouses enough to catch herself - to, essentially, stop herself from visibly waking up.
It takes a little while for her to clearly remember WHY she needs to be so cautious, but her instincts are insistent upon it. She remains perfectly still for a short while, her eyes closed, as she tries to take stock of her situation as best she can. She very slowly rolls her wrists once, trying to determine if she's restrained in any way that she might otherwise be numb to by now; and, very gradually, she narrowly opens her eyes just barely enough to at least scan the space directly in front of her without making her eyes visible.
More than anything else, though, she listens.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
The restraints are very real around her wrists and seemingly her feet. Though they seem pretty standard like they might bind a regular prisoner getting medical rather than someone like Natasha. It is possible, likely even, some of the staff physicians were never made privy to exactly who Natasha is.

"Alright, hook her back up again and let's see if we can get some more." Comes the male voice again followed by the sounds of equipment being prepped and the feeling of Natasha's arm being held for the insertion of a needle.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha's gathered enough to figure the basics of her situation. She could try keeping quiet for a little while longer - it doesn't SEEM like they're carving her up, so far as she can feel - but experience tells her that her lingering light headedness is likely blood loss. That means letting them carry on is only going to make THAT worse, which means she's in about as good an opportunity to move as she's likely to ever get.
Decision made, Natasha draws in a deep, slow, quiet breath, grits her teeth... and then pulls sharply with both legs, drawing them back with enough force to not only snap her meager bonds, but also to roll her body over. She flips backward over the table, and grabs onto the back of it; her wrists still bound to it.
With a sharp grunt of effort she swings the table as hard as she can to sweep into both of the people near her; then puts it between her and her captors, plants her foot against it, and then kicks it away from herself, and towards the other two hard enough to break the bonds on her wrists.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
And just like that the room descends into chaos as machinery is toppled and trays of medical supplies go flying everywhere. One can imagine the physicians working in this 'clinic' really drew the short straw on this one.

The needle is ripped free from Natasha's arm with a trickle of blood as the table sweeps through the room smashing into the man and woman in scrubs who had been working on her. In the end they are left moaning against the wall amidst a pile of broken glass and shelves.

However the ruckus has not gone unnoticed, from down the hall the clomping of combat boots on hard floors can be heard. It would seem while the security in the room wasn't as beefed up as it could have been, this place is not without security forces.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Okay. Quick check up. Are they alive? Are they gonna get back up? Where's the exit? Am I still dressed? Those are foot steps coming this way.
So interrogation's gonna have to be quick.
Natasha takes two steps, and then grunts with a rush of dizzyness. There's an hourglass running on her ability to keep this up, it seems, so the Thor plan of 'kill everyone until they run out of guys' may not be a viable strategy.
"Nn." She grunts grumpily and scoops up a pair of surgical scissors as she walks over to the doctor that's still moving, shoves the table out of the way, slaps the doctor across the face once, and then puts one of their fingers in the open blades of the scissors, pressing just hard enough to pinch. She holds their hand steady by the wrist and simply demands: "Where am I. What were you doing. Quickly."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
It is only as she takes stock of the situation that Natasha finds she is not in fact dressed, wearing only a simple hospital gown, no doubt to facilitate whatever they had planned for her. As she surveys the scene her movements are more sluggish than usual leaving her to wonder just how much blood they'd already taken. The two physicians who had been working on her are not dead, they still seem somewhat conscious but they're not getting up any time soon.

<<Form a perimeter!>> Orders barked in Russian from the hallway. <<Weapons ready! She is not to escape!>> Well so much for take her alive. Has Mother lost interest in her so quickly? Was her blood all they wanted?

The doctor stares wide eyed at Natasha. <<Just.. drawing of blood for tests!>> He looks like he is about to pee himself.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha inclines her head briefly to glance back at the door as the men outside call out, offering a brief grimace of frustration before she slaps the doctor across the face again. <<*What tests?!* Give me something useful, or the trail of bodies I'm about to leave starts *here.*>>

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
<<I.. I don't know! We weren't told!>> Panic is rising in the man and a wet patch does appear and begin to spread in his trousers. <<We were just given quotas, take blood and ship it, amounts. That's all I swear!>>

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
"Bespoleznyy..." (Useless...) Natasha grumbles before she grabs the doctor by the front of the shirt, lifts him up, and shoves him back against the wall directly across from the entryway door.
Step 1: Doctor in place. Will cause the first guard to hesitate, or shoot the doctor, pointing their gun in the wrong direction. Both outcomes are acceptable.
Natasha grabs two scalpels off the ground, putting one in each hand, and then crouches beside the door with her back to the wall.
Step 2: Arm yourself and place yourself at a blind angle from your assailant.
Step 3, should the opportunity present itself, will be to stick one scalpel through the foot of the first person to step in here, put the other one in his eye, and take his gun.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
The clomping of boots stops outside the door and for a moment everything goes quiet. It is now hard to guess what is actually going on, however, communication with hand signals outside, preparing for a breach. The 'guards' at least appear to be of sufficient caliber not to just rush in blindly.

*CRACK* The door is forced open! Rather than immediately bursting into the room, however, there is instead a tink tink tink sound of something skittering and rolling across the floor, a flashbang.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha's shoulders slump briefly as the flashbang first bounces into the room.
Mother mercy, could you not have sent the macho enemies in her hour of need?
Natasha throws both of her arms in front of her eyes and grimaces, preparing for the disorienting cacophony that's bound to come.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
There is an explosion of light and sound as three soldiers burst into the room, Spetznaz by the look of them. The male doctor, the first thing they see, is quickly eliminated in a short burst of gunfire from one of their rifles. The female doctor is executed soon after, the next to come into view, the soldiers apparently having no particular affection for anyone in this place and apparently no orders to take anyone alive.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Partially deafened, her vision blurry, Natasha can at least recognize the vibration and rhythm of an assault rifle when she hears it, and can determine that bigger blur is probably more important than the two smaller blurs jerking around. So she trusts the man to be trained well enough to be holding his gun properly and makes an educated guess about where to put her first scalpel, ideally through the trigger-hand.
In her experience, this will cause the lower half of the gun to drop, while his un-maimed hand keeps supporting the underside of the rifle. This makes it possible for Natasha to catch the falling handle, and pull it forward so that the supported barrel of the gun is now pointed up and back, upside down.
    At the guard's head.
Natasha pulls the trigger and erases the first guard's skull. As his carcass falls, she grips the front of his body armor and keeps his upper body upright even as his knees sag, kneeling down to use his body - and his armor - as cover as she quickly braces the barrel of the rifle on the dead man's shoulder and just fires through the doorway, hoping to lower the collective blur count of this building.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
The first guard's head is quickly rendered non-existant and with a human shield and an assault rifle, the two in the corridor, while elite, are no match for Natasha's aim and training.

As her vision clears, she stands over three dead bodies in a hallway with another Spetznaz soldier coming from each direction down the hall. How many of these guys do they have anyway?!

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Panting softly, head spinning, and adrenaline pumping, Natasha doesn't stop moving after she drops the two men in front of her. She shoves her human-shield away from her and onto its back, then plucks a flashbang off of his belt before throwing it out into the hall.
She ducks behind the doorway until it goes off, and then immediately puts her back to the door frame, peeking out long enough to fire at one, and then wheeling around, stepping into the hallway to fire at the man coming from the other direction.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
The hallway is filled with brilliant light and deafening noise, both guards recoil just long enough for Natasha to take advantage of the situation. They may have polarized visors and ear protection, but even those take a few moments to adjust when not properly shielded. Both guards go down, victim's of Natasha's extreme marksmanship training, a bullet penetrating each of their faceplates, where there is only so much armor to be had.

And then Natasha finds herself alone in the hallway. If there are any triggered alarms they are the silent type. It would seem everyone is either dead or fled.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha's expression doesn't change when she kills those men, nor afterward. She simply ejects the clip from her rifle as she approaches one of the dead men, replaces it with one of his spares, uses the rifle's sling to put it over her back, and then takes a second rifle for her trouble. She takes his communication device as well, allows herself time for a single breath, and then simply marches through the hallways, following any sign of where the exit is. If there's a security camera, she shoots it. If a guard turns up, he dies. If she runs into any doctors? Clothes and car keys.
Basically a stash of clothes is the only thing that might prompt a detour from her terminator-like march.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
The eerie silence prevades much of the march. Terminator Natasha is met with no resistance though. Clothes, however, do present themselves. In the receptionist's area just before the exit there is a basket of Natasha's own discarded belongings.

It is eerie though, how abandoned the place seems, almost a little too abandoned. It would be an odd play the Red Room if this truly is one of their facilities, not ones to leave loose ends untied. And that is when she sees a flashing light under the desk next to an otherwise unobtrusive switch and the digital desk clock isn't showing the correct time... '00:10 00:09 00:08 00:07...' it's counting backwards... That can't be good...

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
And that's Natasha's cue to leave. Forget car keys, forget everything, she throws one of the rifles to the ground and *sprints* for the exit, and she doesn't stop until she's blocks away from the burned out husk she leaves behind.
