Synopsis: No description
Cast of Characters: Shannon Davis, Henry McCoy

Shannon Davis has posed:
Shannon Davis was fairly used to making her way through the lab now that she went back and forth frequently with Hank and had even gotten to using the ant-girl costume. Though that was not visible on her person at the moment, just a a regular hoodie. She casually walks on over to the third super PhD-inclined person she knew and offers a wave. She does not seem like her usual cheerful and relaxed self, a lot more serious and somber than normal, but a fair bit casual still. "Yo. Thanks for meeting with me, I wanted to get your point of view and, well, I guess, consult you just to be sure about it. I'm really reaching out everywhere I can here."

Henry McCoy has posed:
As she enters, he grins - the grin fading a bit as she seems a bit less than chipper. "Of course... I am always willing to listen and offer advice, if you like." Henry comments, smiling then to her. "What's on your mind? Seems to be something of importance, judging by your less than happy demeanor, Shannon." He motions to a chair. "Sit, relax and let's talk?"

Shannon Davis has posed:
Shannon Davis grunts in response taking an anxious sitting position, her leg wagging back and forth. "Well, I realized what I was doing wasn't going to get me anywhere and wasn't helping me define myself as a hero. I was just stealing someone else's power. Wearing the ant suit is just me taking a piggyback ride on Hank's brain, I don't even know how it works, and relying on that is a crutch that makes my powers stay weak." She clenches her hand firmly. "I want to be myself. And I want to use my own powers, but they're absurdly weak." She then looks up to him hopefully. "I was thinking, since you have experience with these things, you could help me figure out how to *specifically* make them stronger. How do I increase my launching power?"

Henry McCoy has posed:
He does listening, nodding as she explains the problem. A slight smile at her want to be herself, the man understanding that all too well. "You have to practic with your gift, Shannon. There is no quick route to it - no good ones." A slight shiver. "Our gifts as mutants are wholly biological. They are like muscles, or knowledge - you have to work at to improve it." The man explains. "You've been using the suit - have you been practicing with the launching? Even if it is trying to launch yourself?" He grins.

Shannon Davis has posed:
Shannon Davis nods. "I know that, but, how do I know if it's working? How do I know I'm doing the right stuff? I've been shooting stuff a lot and I've been practicing accelerating really big things that I can't really move, just to kind of uh, flex the mutation I guess." She asks him very anxiously. "I don't know if what I'm doing is even doing it any good, and I really, really need the most optimal route here to make up for my slow, awful start."

Henry McCoy has posed:
He nods. "It is not a race - if you see it like that, you won't see the small successes." He thinks on that. "Ok, so you know your limit right now, right? Like a pound limit to launch? Work at that maximum for an hour a day, more if you can take it. Then at the end of that work out, add a pound and see if you can launch it?" He suggests.

Shannon Davis has posed:
Shannon Davis rubs her hands nervously together. "You say that but compare me to the average hero, I'm really not doing very good in the power department. If I want to be able to stand up to the villains they fight I need them growing fast, y'know?" She pauses for a moment, opening and closing her hands. "I'm not sure it's exactly a pound issue but more like a uh, time issue. It's not harder to launch bigger things because the acceleration stays the same, it just takes longer. So in the end it usually comes down to how long I can accelerate the thing continually."

Henry McCoy has posed:
Henry watches her. "Breathe." He suggests. "Relax." He smiles. "I am involved in teaching many mutant children, every day. It's a matter of understanding and pacing." The man muses. "So... explain. You can launch things, only up to a certain velocity? Weight doesn't matter?"

Shannon Davis has posed:
Shannon Davis takes a bit of a frustrated breath but then relaxes some more. "Not exactly." She takes out a coin from her pocket, there's a loud THUNK sound, causing the coin to fly into the ceiling quite fast, but at a speed that would at most cause a bruise. "That's my base launch speed, it's the fastest I can accelerate something without holding it down. If I try something bigger it gets the same amount of force applied to it,so it goes slower and slower the bigger it is. Huge things won't even start moving unless I keep accelerating them for a while, but it's pretty slow and pretty week. So to move something big I'd need to keep my hand on it and accelerate for probably over a minute."

Henry McCoy has posed:
A hrm from the man. "If it is held in place - like you were holding it, charging it to accelerate faster, would it launch faster when you released it? Kind of a parking break?" He suggests. "It's an interesting problem to work on."

Shannon Davis has posed:
Shannon Davis nods. "Yep, I've done that a bunch before. If there's something to hold it down the acceleration keeps building at the same pace, until it gets really high. I used that to shoot Wonder Woman through this huge rock monster thing." She says with renewed excitement in her voice, which then gets somber again with the following sentence. "But uh, that's really difficult to do in any situation and I don't want to depend on equipment I can't even make myself. I want to work on my powers themselves. As you can see the basic launch force is really low, it takes a lucky hit or some charging for it to worth anything in a fight."

Henry McCoy has posed:
He nods. "You are practicing in the fashion I'd suggest. There's... no quick cure for it. I manufactured something akin to it, and it was going into the wrong hands. I used it on myself and..." He motions to his form. "I... turned blue and furry." A shrug. "I was experimented on a while ago." The man shivers, the memory clearly pleasant. "And I changed again - out of my control. Part of me is gnawing away at the inside of me - turning my habits and thoughts more feral." He looks her in the eye. "There is no quick route that is worth the danger."

Shannon Davis has posed:
Shannon Davis looked back, firmly, her expression seemed to suggest she disagreed strongly. "Those sound like things I'd be willing to put up with, but, again." She gestures, waving her hands in an opening motion, along with a shrug. "That falls under the 'just stealing someone's powers' category, if I'm just handed it in a platter, y'know. Like, if you could give me an injection that'd make me super powerful I wouldn't want it. Because all that power wouldn't really belong to me." She sighs deeply and leans back in her seat.

"Still, this is really discouraging. I was hoping I'd be practicing all wrong and there would be a better, more efficient way. I guess I'll keep on training as I am, and, uh, try to make do with what I have for now. But I'm done waiting for some miraculous development that'll make it safe for me to start doing hero work, that'll never happen if I keep waiting." She gets up and smiles, nodding several times. "Thank you for sparing your time again, it was really productive to know that I'm going on the right route. Now I can focus on exercising them as mucha as possible."

Henry McCoy has posed:
He gets to his feet as well. "I wish I had a better plan for you. I can suggest using the Avenger's gym to train, spar - work with the others to learn to better control your gift, as well as hone your physical skills. Cap is a fantastic sparring partner." The man assures.

Shannon Davis has posed:
Shannon Davis nods. "I'll still want to learn combat from Hank like he suggested, he did mention Cap might be willing to help out too. I'd really like that. And you've helped plenty, so thank you again. Plus if you ever think of anything more you know where to find me."

Henry McCoy has posed:
Henry grins. "Let me know and I'll even help spar and train more, Shannon. And I am always an ear available to listen to you."
