Synopsis: Q and Ruth get a little closer and her aunt gets some hacked surprises
Cast of Characters: Quentin Quire, Ruth Aldine

Quentin Quire has posed:
Quentin Quire sits at one of the computers in the lab, lazily bypassing some of the limiting software that's supposed to keep the kids 'on task' and plunging deep into the wider world of the net. He could do it from his own computer, of course, but he's probably going to end up breaking about a dozen laws, at a minimum.

He's in a swivel chair, his feet kicked up on a different desk, diagonally, typing with his mind to leave his hands free, "So, what should I hack into? Government? Corporations? Should I make Warren give all his workers bonuses out of his big fat bank account?" he says with amusement, rolling his tonguering against his teeth idly and glancing over at Ruth, "If you don't like the chairs here, my lap's comfy. I'm just saying," he says with a waggle of fuscia eyebrows.

Ruth Aldine has posed:
Ruth was there, sitting in a chair nearby, pretty much minding her own business. The past few days she's stuck by Quentin's side, which would have been weird save for her learning from him about what she could do, how she could do it, and.. well, she liked him. At least she was blunt enough to admit that. Mackey had no issues with Quentin either, which added to the like, so there was that.

Mackey-Tag was nearby, chewing upon an old rope that was bought out in one of their excursions, Ruth leaning down to lightly pat his head. "I am okay." Ruth says quietly. She didn't know what he could break into but..

"Can you check on my aunt?" Ruth already knows what the woman was doing, but she didn't know about her digital blueprint. Was she going broke from sending Ruth money? Did she have bills that she couldn't pay? Was there a cyberstalker out there somewhere looking to hurt her?

Her aunt was the only family Ruth really had.

Quentin Quire has posed:
Quentin Quire isn't used to doing sincere things. He's more for doing mischief things or bitchy things or snarky things or...not checking on people's relatives to give them peace of mind. But he liked Ruth, too. She had her own quirky way about her and she didn't care what other people thought and she thought in weird ways so contacting her mind was never boring. So many people had boring brains.

"Sure thing. I can even plump up her bank account if you want. Semi-legally. I can have her win a contest or something. Random giveaway. Lottery's too hard, you need a physical lotto receipt for that and I can't hack that. Yet," he says.

Ruth Aldine has posed:
"Maybe." Ruth considers it. It would be a big help. Though, her maybe wasn't set in stone, she was considering asking to give her a gift of a vacation, somewhere nice and warm for a couple of months.

While Mack was still chewing, Ruth decidedly leaves him alone, scooting forward enough to reach out to grab Quentin's legs. They were carefully moved out of her way so that her chair could be next to his, leaning just a bit to the side so that she could 'see' what he was doing.

Seeing as in, tapping into that weird brain of his to watch through his eyes.

"Okay. Go."

Quentin Quire has posed:
Quentin Quire always thinks of it in terms of computer language, his mind 'docking' with Ruth's to a certain degree. It's a passive sort of sharing, the mental equivalent of curling up on a couch together, and he doesn't do it with...well, most anyone generally. Until recently.

He brings up some footage from various cameras around her aunt's neighborhood, showing glimpses of her shopping, laughing with a neighbor, feeding some birds in a nearby park. He brings up her credit card expenses, showing her spoiling herself with a few little gifts here and there, but also writing a journal about some of her experiences and hoping that Ruth was doing okay. She still kept a room for her niece, it seems, waiting in case she needed some place to stay.

Ruth Aldine has posed:
It almost seems as if Ruth is unphased by this. By the fact that her aunt was doing well on her own and without Ruth there. "Pardon. I imagine there is some degree, yes, to be happy without me there." Much like parents who had children leave the nest, their either flourish or die slow and crazy. Her Aunt was flourishing.

It was the fact that was still a room for her gained a twitch of a smile, and a nod. Her hand reaches out to lightly pat Quentin's shoulder, whether awkward, but sentiment was there.

"Sorry, please send her somewhere nice." Boost her bank account, yes. Maybe even get her a brand new car. Nothing but the best.

Quentin Quire has posed:
"I'm not sure she's happy. She's making the best of it. People aren't just, like, one feeling at a time. She misses you, obviously. Look, she has anti-depressants!" he says, as if this is a fact that should give Ruth some good cheer.

He playbites at the fingers on his shoulder, but it's clear that he's just teasing. "We can do that. Hawaiian vacation sounds nice. She can get lei'd!"

Ruth Aldine has posed:
"Yes." Ruth says. "Pardon, we all should be." Anti-depressants would make the life better, right? It does give her a few ideas though, which she doesn't say yet. Hawaii does seem nice, but.. "Nassau." Her head nods. "She is in Nassau." Her aunt wasn't, clearly, if Quentin were to look. The woman would probably be at work, quite possibly on her lunch hour. "Yes, in Nassau alone but finds friends." She nods her head, then gestures to the computer. Ruth knows how to use it, sure. But she cannot and probably will not ever do what Quentin can.

"Ooh. I have a gift for you, yes." She says to Quentin, "..but first fix. No, she needs spending money for Nassau. Thank you."

Quentin Quire has posed:
Most people will never do what Quentin can. That is both is burden and his joy. His superiority makes him different, alienates him, but he also revels in being better than others. He spent much of his early life being told he was worthless by parents who didn't understand their weird child and tried to trick him into loving them with money. He loved the money and the presents, but he always knew they were liars. He could read their minds, after all.

"Maybe we should set up a dating profile for her. What does she like, men, women, high powered marital aids with rechargable docking stations? What are her kinks? Is she a bottom, I feel like she's a bottom," he says.

He rapidly sets about both transferring the money to her and covering his tracks so that it can't be traced back, skimming the funds from people who won't miss it and putting a little Easter egg of having the money come from something called the "Blindfold Trust". "Okay, now, give me the present, I like gifts and I'm terribly impatient."

Ruth Aldine has posed:
It was almost satisfying, even though what they were doing was practically illegal. But, Ruth didn't care. She saw the benefits of this trip and remained firm on him continuing. "No." Ruth said. She wasn't snippy about it, just matter of factly. When Ruth said Nassau, she meant it. She wouldn't exactly come back married, but flings.. yes. Her aunt would have all the flings.

Though, as Quentin finishes his task for her, she leans over to give him a kiss on the cheek. That kiss disengages herself from his eyes and allows her to use her own precognative abilities to gauge the scene around her. It was a lightly refreshing change of pace, to not be tethered, but also, normal. "There." That was the gift!

"One more." Ruth states. "Shopping, yes. For me." She looks down at her clothes, she wasn't too keen on buying them, but she really did need some. "Can I borrow $200, please?"

Quentin Quire has posed:
Quentin Quire blinks at the kiss, taken off guard and it's hard to take him off guard. She'd hidden that thought from him deftly, which made him like her even more. People who could trick Quentin were rare, after all. One of the reasons people were so dull was because they were so predictable.

"Careful there, I'll give you one right back and it won't be on the cheek," he says, although there's a hint of a flush in his face. Is he warm?

"No, you can't borrow it, but I can give it to you because I spend two hundred dollars just on video game lootboxes."

Ruth Aldine has posed:
Man, Ruth was all teeth! Big grin because she could tell that she caught Quentin off guard, even boosting herself within her chair so that she could sit upon the heels of her feet like a leap-frog to lean over to snake an arm around his neck and hug. Her aunt was going to be happy, Ruth was relatively happy, Mackey was doing well and all healthy -and- she was going to get new clothes.

From the Goodwill.

"I will pay you back, yes." She says, pressing her cheek against his. "I would like an outfit for the talent show tomorrow, thank you." Her head nods, which may or may not make his nod. But, today was just a relatively good day.

Next on the list?

"Oh. Pardon! Send text alert to phones. "The concept of hope is nothing more than giving up." Ruth nods. "Madara Uchiha. Yes. But do not tell them that. Thank you."

Quentin Quire has posed:
Quentin Quire tilts his head a bit and gives Ruth a kiss on the cheek in return, then lets her return to nuzzling. For all of his debauchery, physical contact and cuddling is actually pretty rare for him. He's mostly had one night stands, some of which he doesn't remember, although he's always made sure to be safe at least. He knows how filthy the people he spends time with are, after all.

"Texts sent. And I'll hold you to that. You're going to ing, right? Maybe we should get you something sparkly. Sequins and shit. Make Dazzler think twice," he says.

Ruth Aldine has posed:
Who's turn was it now to blush? Ruth was never forward in anything. In fact, she was always hidden. That there was a testament to her experience. "Yes. Sing. I have no song yet." But she does, she just didn't bother looking forward to see. Not yet, anyways. "Nothing sparkily.." She visibly shudders, even going so far as to move away from him with an 'ew' demeanor.

Mackey senses this, then audibly perks up, voicing his own opinion with a bark.

*~ Ruth in sparkles, ew! ~*

"Yes, ew Mackey."

Quentin Quire has posed:
Quentin Quire slides an arm around to pull her actually a bit closer to him, "I think you'd look good in sparkles, personally, but I like garish things. On the other hand, I'm also learning to appreciate some of the quieter things, too," he says with a hint of a squeeze.

"I'm going to do a rap, I think, but I'm not going to do any preparation at all. Full on freestyle. You may beatbox for me, though, if you wish."

Ruth Aldine has posed:
As he pulls her closer, she takes him up on the earlier offer, making it so that she could cross the chair to settle into his lap. She doesn't get comfortable right away, it takes a lot of foot adjustments before she's planted there, and nearly curled up as a result.

"I do not know how to beat box." Ruth confesses. In fact, she'd probably look rather silly! But, the thought of it does make her laugh. "I will help." Why not, right?

Quentin Quire has posed:
Quentin Quire shrugs, "Can't be that hard. Put your lips together and blow, isn't that the old saying?" he grins. He lets her get comfy as she likes, he can even provide TK cushion or adjustment if she needs it. It's been a long time since anybody...well, actually, he can't remember anybody ever sitting in his lap like this. Well, not without a bunch of cash in her g-string.

"The thing is, even if we suck, we'll have fun. And who gives a shit about any of their opinions to begin with?"

Ruth Aldine has posed:
Ruth wasn't going to try it out of pure respect. She was sure that spit was going to blow everywhere.

"Fun is good, yes." She nods, but then shrugs. "I do. I have friends." Ruth says. "Jubilee, Noriko. Julio." She wasn't sure if anyone else would have actively checked on her, Julio been the longest running person she's considered a friend.

She shrugs. "Yes, we will have fun, though. Thank you." Once again, she leans in to kiss his cheek, this time adding her hand to the opposite side to catch a little bit of that heated blush.

Quentin Quire has posed:
Quentin Quire leaves his hand laying on her knee, letting her snuggle close to him as she kisses against his cheek, "You're welcome," he says. "I...don't. Not really. I'm not sure I've tried. I usually tell them to fuck off so fast. Most of the 'friends' I have are just using me for drugs and shit, numbers in my cellphone and nothing else. People here...I dunno. It just seems so...wholesome. Blech," he says, reaching a finger up and lightly bopping the tip of her nose.

Ruth Aldine has posed:
"Mm." Ruth says, nodding her head. She gets it. She really did, else she wouldn't have hung around him for so long.

"No, not wholesome." She states, drawing up a hand to count off her fingers. "Noriko is damaged, yes. Lot of trauma." She nods her head. "Jubilee is weirdly happy, but can fight. Yes, I do not know why." And then the third. "Julio murdered a continent of people." That one was exaggerated, but it made him sound cool. "Not wholesome."

..Now that Ruth thinks about it, her friends are nuts. This makes her smile. "My friends are nuts. Yes."

Quentin Quire has posed:
Quentin Quire nods, "A whole continent, huh? That IS a lot. Maybe I should give him more of a chance," he says with a hint of amusement. "If they like you, they can't be entirely stupid, I suppose, so I should give them a chance, even if Jubilee's smiling sometimes makes me want to stuff a frankfurter up her nostrils," he says.

He thinks about it for a moment then realizes she can hear his thoughts anyway so he just says, "You know I'm going to kiss you on the mouth, right? Maybe don't look too deep. Some of those thoughts are definitely not appropriate."

Ruth Aldine has posed:
Ruth is the one who taps his nose this time. Her head shakes, not to scold him, but to point out the obvious. "No. She will not be able to breathe." And, that was final. But as he does think.. and he does speak, Ruth.. well, her brows crinkle.

And as soon as that happens, her own TK propels her from the seat, her feet immediately smacking against the ground as she crouches to distribute the shock. "Nope." And...

..she was leaving. Right along with Mackey Tag.

Quentin Quire has posed:
Quentin Quire gasps in surprise again and cries out, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean..." he says and then snaps his mouth shut. First, he did kind of mean it and second, did he just say he was sorry? He never said he was sorry. It was against his religion, which was the church of Quentin, first denomination, hallowed be thy name, and he was forgiven allh is sins because they were awesome.

"C'mon, don't go, I'll...try not to...be...me."

Ruth Aldine has posed:
Ruth wasn't upset with him, it was just time to go. And why was it time to go?

Ruth was hungry.

Hearing him though, causes her brows to lower, stopping and turning just enough so that he could see the side of her face. She wasn't confused, but she's touched on the surface enough to know..

"Let's go. Yes." She says to Quentin. "I am hungry."

And.. well.. she keeps going. He's hungry too, isn't he?!

Quentin Quire has posed:
Quentin Quire closes out all his progams and hops up to his feet. "Yeah, I knew that. Totally. I...yeah, let's go...get some food," he says. Is Quentin flustered? He quickly tries to return to his usual shameless self, fluffing his mohawk with his fingers and clicking his tonguering on his teeth.

"So, what do you want to eat?" he says, draping an arm around her shoulders boldly again, "Sushi? Italian? I wonder how much it would cost to get uber eats to deliver some hibachi grill steak."
