A meeting in the Park
Date of Scene: 14 March 2020
Location: Central Park Zoo (Manhattan)
Synopsis: Dinner and more.
Cast of Characters: Kyani Kohanna, Beatriz da Costa, Robert Marksman

Kyani Kohanna has posed:
It's late in the afternoon and people are meandering about the park, kids are running and playing, there are couples out and about walking. There are a few Tai Chi classes going on, and there is one person running at normal human speeds and flipping through obstacles and jumping over benches as he is getting his workout going. Kyani lands in a crouch and moves to sit down by one of the large ponds and begins stretching, he is sitting in full splits as he stretches.

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
Bea is sprawled out half-across one bench, an eclair in one hand, a trashy romance novel in the other. At some point in the recent past, upon biting into the eclair, a little dab of the custard creme inside dotted the tip of her nose without her noticing. Whatever she's reading has her entirely engrossed, however. The cover is the typical shirtless guy in tight pants doing something manly like chopping wood while a woman in an old-timey gown is embracing him from behind, resting her long, blonde tresses down his back.
    That kind of novel.
The kind of novel that has her completely missing the world around her. Like when a Parkour-practicing fellow leaps over her seemingly-empty (from the back) bench and takes her completely by surprise, emitting a squawk of alarm.

Kyani Kohanna has posed:
As Kyani stretches he looks around him and notices Bea laying sprawled on the bench. "Hey there good looking." he says in jest as he turns so that he is facing Bea as he contiues stretching. Yes he still is in full splits as he lays forward, showing off how flexible he is. Kyani isn't out of breath, running like a normal person really doesn't get his heart rate up at all really, but he can't do his normal all the time, well he can but eh.

"How have you been doing?" he asks as he looks up from where he lays. "Were you able to get your line in another store than the one we both met at?" he asks curiously as he really hope she was able to. Kyani feels his cellphone vibrate and he checks it and sees that he isn't needed today for work. Though he's already did some deliveries earlier in the day. He puts the phone away and looks back to Bea.

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"Oh, Hi there!" Bea says, after giving the Parkour runner a hairy eyeball (to no effect since he didn't stop and doesn't have eyes on the back of his head). "Uh ... Kyani, was it? Right? From the shop and the deli. How's it been?"
She sits up properly in the bench (thus averting future disasters in Parkour) and closes her book. "Oh, my stuff is carried all over. Generally if I offer it's a favour to the shop not the other way around. I like having people display my designs, naturally, but the little boutiques aren't my moneymakers. They're my advertising front."
Long-winded answer for 'I haven't bothered trying yet'.
What about you? Any more 'interesting' recipients?" She grins. "Pick up any other women in distress?"

Kyani Kohanna has posed:
He looks around, "I'm not running I'm just sitting here stretching." he smiles. "Yes." he says as he looks to her. "Nice to see you again and I really enjoyed our day at the deli." he chuckles a little bit as he looks at the book, "Ah smut novel." he grins at her.
As Bea sits up, he sits up as well and he continues to watch her as she speaks, "Oh I see. I apologize for my little understanding." he says about her business. "Yeah, I've bene pretty busy as of late." he says to her as he stretches. "I'm keeping myself busy and honestly today is my day off, I'm going to chill and relax for today. Can't always work and not take time out for yourself." he smiles.

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"Oh, it's OK. My design house is very exclusive. By which I mean we're excluded from most major places because I'm too small to bother with. I make a comfortable living, but I'm not working at being the next Versace or anything like that. It's kinda ... something I picked up after having to retire from my previous job."
She waves the book around. "Yeah, I know. Laugh it up. But sometimes I like to shut off my brain and just imagine a simpler world where all men are sensitive yet strong and manly and yet loyal and yet naighty. Welcome to life."
She chuckles. "Sure. Smut. But MY kinda smut!"

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman is walking into the area. The big man is looking about as he walks. He will stop at this exhibit or that one for a moment. He seems to actually take some time at each watching the animals, and enjoying his day.

Kyani Kohanna has posed:
Kyani raises a brow, "I'm impressed Bea." he says as he looks at her studying her. "Well I hope you're able to achieve this." he says as he looks at her. "This is a very big step into the fashion world but, you seem like the one who rise to the challenge." he smiles. "Hey to each their own, I like porn so go figure." he laughs. "Though check this one series out." he tells her of the title, "It's a series one of my customers told me she was reading, she seems to like it a lot." he laughs. "If you like that sort of thing check it out."

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
Bea finally stands up, stretching herself, albeit not the formal athletic way that Kyani's doing it. More the 'I've been sitting at an awkward angle and now there's a kink in my back' way. "I've been involved with the fashion scene off and on since I was 16," she says, laughing. "It's not that huge a step. I just had another career in between that went away after ... I guess you could call it burnout."
Something about that makes her giggle. She doesn't expand, however.
"So this is kind of a coming home for me. And I do modeling work too, so that pays bills AND networks me. I'm doing fine."
Her eyes pass over the grounds, looking at the other people before resting on the absurdly tall one. "Oh, wow!" she says out of the blue, almost startled. "That's a big 'un, isn't it? Is he on the right side of the display? I thought the bears were supposed to be IN the pens!"

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman is happening to be heading towards their direction and hearing someone talking about porn around an attractive lady will give him pause. His brow raises a bit behind the sunglasses, and he will look over to the two giving them a nod, and at the bear comment he will chuckle softly. he will step closer and ask "All ok?"

Kyani Kohanna has posed:
Kyani rolls onto his back and kipups landing on the balls of his feet. He yawns and blinks at the big guy. He shakes his head a little, and he looks back to Bea. "Well if no one has said it, welcome home." he chuckles. "Well if you're doin what you enjoy that's all that matters." he says as he looks at her. He watches as the big guy walks over towards them, "Yeah, why wouldn't it be?" he asks as he looks to Robert not sure why anything would be amiss.

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
Bea flashes a bright smile Robert's way. "Oh, sorry. Upon closer examination you're just a very large man." She mimics her heart fluttering with her hand on her chest. "For a moment I thought one of the grizzly bears escaped." There's an impish glow in her eyes as she talks.
"Sorry if you overheard that. It was probably rude to talk about you that way. I'm Bea, this is Kyani." She waves her book around. "This is my book," she adds irrelevantly.

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman chuckles a bit and says "Na, all good, just hear just enough to not know what was going on, and wanted to make sure all was ok. Saw the lovely lady looking my way and you on the ground did not know if maybe something had happened, and you two might need some help.

Kyani Kohanna has posed:
"Nice to meet you." he says as he looks at Robert as Bea introduces him. He yawns a little bit and he looks around, though not sure how one could think something was going on, but he wasn't worried. He does chuckles at the book being waved around and Kyani just shakes his head at Bea, "She loves her reading." he laughs as he looks to her.

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
After taking Kyani's farewell, Bea looked up. And up. And up at Robert. "My, you are a tall one," she says, with a hint of inadequacy feelings in her voice. "And now the designer in me is trying to figure out how to make clothes that don't make you look like a brick wall made of cloth. Sorry, just the way my brain works."
She chuckles and waves her book again.
"Like how it made me introduce my book for some reason. Just ... malfunctions sometimes." She makes a rueful face. "My friends call it frivolity. I call it by the much nicer term 'creativity'. Because I'm also pretentious."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman smiles and says "Creativity is a wonderful thing." he will turn around to give her the full view. "I gotta admit I wear something in this look most of the time, but I probably could use some new suits. You design for men and women?"

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"Well, honestly, mostly women and androgynous men. You're ... neither. You're OH SO neither."
The white dot of custard from some pastry or another on the end of her nose remains unnoted by her, incidentally, as she talks.
"You'd be an interesting challenge, truth be told. I mean obviously I wouldn't have to make you draw eyes to you. Just your chest being at most people's eye height does that. Making you blend in would be much harder."
She purses her lips in thought as she casts a professional, assessing gaze at the behemoth before her. "It would be interesting."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman will look to her "Hold still a moment?" He will reach up to brush the custard off. He is gentle with his touch to her. "Well, I would be interested, I could use a few things, maybe something that can make a lab coat look good too." He jokes a bit with her.

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
Bea starts drawing back a bit as Robert's hand approaches, but then her eye catches the dot of white on her nose and she stops. "Oh, God," she groans. "How long has that been there? Have I been babbling drivel all this time with a dot of custard on my nose?" She shakes her head, looking away a moment. "I must have looked like a right lunatic, talking about books, bears, fashion, with custard on my nose."
She turns her head back, grinning ruefully. "Good for the ego, though. Can't have an overweening echo when you've done something dumb like that!"
    Then the words register.
"Lab coat? You mean you, built like a brick wall, work in a lab? Do they make everything oversized for you so you don't knock everything over by just liftinga finger?!"

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman smiles and says "Well, I aint got that bad, and I am studying to be a doctor, so have to wear the coat or scrubs on occasion." He offers her a smile and will brush the custard off on a hankerchief he pulls from insdie his jacket. "So do you work with a design house, your own line or what?"

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"BDC Fashions," she says. "I'm BDC. Beatriz da Costa. BDC. Also model under the brand Beatriz." Interesting. The BRAND 'Beatriz', not name. Fashion is a warped little world sometimes. "It's a grand name for a small shop. I've got me, an understudy in the design side, a couple of cutters, and a couple of seamstresses. When we sell a design, I contract out to factories for actual production."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman thinks for a moment "Da Costa, as in the lady who was Fire?" He will ask. He offers his hand again "Robert Marksman a pleasure, to meat a lovely and heroic lady."

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"Was and is," Bea says smiling, returning the second handshake. She concentrates a bit and lets the flame hidden away inside her escape just enough to let her eyes glow bright green, and her raised index finger on her left hand to sprout a two-inch long green plasma flame. "I'm getting back in the biz, in fact. Retired for a while for ..." Her face goes dark and distant. "... reasons, but it's time to get back in the saddle."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman s head does move back some just a little wince at the light. "Well, I gotta say, it is a good thing. The world needs more people who are willing to try to help people.

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
The flames go out. "Sorry, didn't mean to make you nervous. It's become normal for me. I keep forgetting that not everybody is as blase about fire as I am," Bea says with a friendly, but apologetic, expression. "But yes, we need more people helping, and not just metas like me. I think everybody can help if they have any kind of means to. Scientists. Construction workers. Housekeepers. Politicians." She pauses. "OK, maybe not that last group," she adds with a laugh. "But you get my drift."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman chuckles and says "No the fire itself did not bother me, just a bit light sensitive. he admits. "So, would you like to maybe grab something to eat and we can talk about design and such?"

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
Bea puts on airs like she's a starlet. "Really, DAAAAAAAAHLING!" she says in an exaggerated voice, "I much prefer talking about myself!"
She gives him a lop-sided grin, adding, in a normal voice, "Or we can talk design, sure. Or even heroics. I'm used to people asking me about those once they find out who I am."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman says, "Well there are things that I do find interesting about the heroics, but I am totally ok with talking about you as well. I mean who would not be. So, want to get something here, or would you like to go find a nice sit down place?"

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"Let's find somewhere nice. Budapest maybe?" she asks. "Or at least a Hungarian restaurant. For some reason I have an urge for goulash all of a sudden."
She steps forward to take Robert's arm, as naturally as if it were ingrained into her to subconsciousness. "You know any good Hungarian restaurants in the city?"

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman hmms and says "Not off the top of my head, but I am sure we can find one. He holds her arm and smiles at her, as he leads her to the entrance of the zoo and out towards the street. He will use his other hand to pull out his phone and look up reviews

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"Oh, pity. It would have been amazing if you knew one off the top of your head," Bea laughs. "You blew your chance to amaze me into wide-eyed hero worship!"
Not that she's letting go the arm.
"What about if I'd said Italian. Would you have known then?"

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman nods, and says "Oh yea, I know a really good one of those, would you like to try out a little hidden place I know of?"

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"Hmmm... I think if you know one that's good that's probably a better bet. I can have goulash some other time." Bea grins. "Take me away, Robert, to wherever this little hideaway of yours might be."
    BBeat.
"Now I suddenly have an urge for artichokes in balsamic vinegar. Probably my favourite appetizer."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman will nod, and wishes he had brought his car to try to impress her, but will get a taxi, and he takes her to this small place, that could easily get lost and as he leads her in they are greeted with "Robby."

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"Huh. You DO come here often," Bea comments. "Isn't it nice when they greet you by name at the door?" Pause. "Robby? Really? Not Bob? Rob?" She giggles a bit at that. "You have NO issues with your manliness at all, do you? I can think of a thousand Roberts who'd freak at being called Robby. Mind if I call you that too?"
Looking around she gathers it's a 'seat yourself' place because having a server take you three steps to a seat is redundant. She lets go Robert's arm and picks a table by the window. "I like to watch streets. It's fun seeing people and guessing where they're going and what they're doing."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman smiles and says "Well, I have been coming here since I was a kid with my grand parents he admits. "He grins at her, and says "I think you can call me Robby, are you ok if I call you Bea, or do you prefer Your honorable sexiness?" He asks her he does pull a chair out for her before he takes a seat.

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
Bea suppresses a grin as she puts on a severe face. "I'm not sure I like that one," she says, before the grin breaks free of its jail. "Her Royal Highness is better than Your Honourable," she adds with a wink.
The menu is given a once over while she speaks. "But Bea is probably faster. Also it lets you mentally put the word "Queen" in front which reminds you who's in charge."
She looks up, then. "So you're studying to be a doctor? What attracted you to that world?"

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman smiles and will order a soda for drink and what ever Beatriz to drink. "Well I have always been interested in it, and my family had an accident when I was younger. I am actually hoping to specialize in cybernetics." He admits "I like the idea of giving people back what they think they have lost."

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"That's a very nice sentiment, Robby," Bea says, patting his hand. "Remember what I was saying about heroes being everyone, potentially? That's yours. And believe me, setting fires doesn't compare. It's more showy, but it's not as valuable. You don't need to be a meta to be a hero."
"You know," she then continues, switching gears as she looks at the menu, "I have no idea what most of this is. This must be, like, authentic Italian, and not from Rome or Florence, the two places I've been. Maybe Tuscanny? Why don't you order for me? And I'll have a glass of red."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman nods and will order the special, something with no onions though he makes sure. He waits till the drinks are brought and says "Well, I am hoping maybe Metas and mutants can help the world as super heroes and normal heroes as well." He says giving her a clue to things.

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"Well, I guess when I say metas, I mean the mutants too," Bea says. "I mean I don't get it. Why hate them for their powers but not me? It's not sensible at all." She takes a sip of her wine to judge how long to let it breathe before drinking it properly. "Sometimes the world is a silly place, and that whole mutant thing is right up there in being stupid, isn't it?"

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman nods, and says "I agree, and I don't see a reason to hate people unless they do something to make you hate them. Well maybe my brother." He jokes a bit to this and says "So, what do you do for fun Bea?"

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"Oh, lots of things. I go out clubbing. Swimming. Flying. I like to do sketching not related to fashion from time to time, usually still life things. I read. I infiltrate organizations undetected to steal, say, a worthless bauble from their top leader's desk. Things like that."
She looks up at Robert after that, checking to see if he caught any of the little traps. "What about you? What do you enjoy doing when you're not being a doctor student or whatever?"

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman smiles and says "Well sketching women who might be trying to steal things from my desk at the office, hanging out at the park, going to the zoo stuff like that. I do hit clubs occasionally but have to pick a choose for the right ones." He still has his sunglasses on inside the place.

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"You forgot 'being an extra in a Corey Feldman video'," Bea laughs, reaching across to pull off the sunglasses. "We're indoors. No sun here."
"You passed," she adds, with a wink. "You'd be amazed at how many people don't catch that infiltration bit."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman will move his head away not quite letting her get the glasses he will look around and lean back so he is not seen from the window, and lowers his glasses for a moment, and she will see his eyes glow red. "Still a bit to bright in here for me."

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"Oh, wow! You can make your eyes glow too!" Bea says, face impressed. "You're a meta? Or is that mechanical in some way?" She peers curiously at Robert, tilting her head, trying to discern the source. "Or is that a cool trick with lights in your sunglasses?"

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman smiles and says "Mutant, and they are like that all the time, part of the powers I developed were some vision powers, but also a bit of a sensitivity to light, so the glasses help both hide the eyes and keep the light down for me."

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
The penny drops and Bea laughs. "Ah, that's why you were mentioning mutants earlier!" she crows. You were chekcing if I was a bigot or not!" Eyes dancing, she twists her mouth into a lopsided look. "So did I pass? You know, like you passed about the infiltration?"

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman smiles and says "Well, I can say, I can see asking you out again, or back to my place after dinner to talk some more about one another and business both." He admits.

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"To talk." Bea puts on her disbelieving face. "That happen often, you take women to your place and you talk?"
She takes a sip of her wine, dancing eyes watching Robert's face as she sips. "Seems like a waste. You can talk anywhere. I'd think you'd be more about something which can't be done out in public."
Timing thatwith Robert taking a sip.

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman will cough just a bit luckily not spilling his drink to bad and looks her over, and says "Well, I will admit I would not mind that, not at all." He tells her. "Would even change the food order to go if ya wanted for that one." He grins a bit at her. "To be honest, I would hope there was some talking with the other activities as well."?

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"So let's eat here, and talk, and then consider the other stuff and more talking for after the meal, shall we?" Bea chuckles again. "I think the anticipation builds up tension quite nicely, don't you agree?"

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman nods his head a bit and about then the food is brought to them. Robert thanks the waitress, and he looks over to Beatriz "So, you said you enjoy drawing besides fashion, have a favorite medium and subject?

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"Still life, mostly. Cluttered rooms. I try mostly impressionist, sometimes realist, but I just adore the vibe of a cluttered room filled with signs of life."
Not only handsy with people, grabbing arms without thought, she's pretty handsy with her food as well, picking out the artichoke leaves with her fingers and sucking the succulence out of them before discarding the empty shells. "You can already guess what my home looks like. It's packed with the detritus of an overactive life." She chuckles. "So strangely I never sketch it. I sketch other rooms with clutter."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman nods and will follow suit eatting much like she does, be it his natural state or just making her feel at home is unsure. He nods his head a bit and says "I am more a people and animal type. It might be part of either what drew me to medicine, or maybe because of it, but showing how the muscles and body work, and all. He grins a bit at her, and says "My place aint to cluttered, but to be honest thats more from hiring someone than my own doing.

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
"I hire too, but clutter ... just happens. I seem to be somewhat of a chaos magnet." The pasta, of course, is eaten with fork, twirled into a spoon to wrap it, but slops of sauce speckle her chin when she slurps it up, those getting cleaned up by fingers. "Or a slob, if you want the impolite term. I should probably have them coming three times a week instead of once."
Dessert is eaten in a similarly messy manner, and it becomes clear why there was a dot of custard on her nose earlier, because it happens again, albeit with strawberry frosting instead. This time, however, she catches it.
    "So, still interested in talking?"

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman smiles and says "Well let me get a little bit of cream you have there." His hand will come up to gently hold her chin, and he leans in softly kissing her lips, and will lick across them in the kiss softly if she had dessert on her lips or not, well it is unsure. He will smile a bit and says "I think I might be up to that unpublic things if you are."

Beatriz da Costa has posed:
Bea smirks a bit at the forward display. "Well, I must confess I am looking forward to seeing the house of a man who isn't a slob," she says. "Let's blow this joint and go look at this marvel of nature, OK?"

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman smiles and will pay the bill and leave a generous tip, offering her his arm to head out
