Something's not right
Date of Scene: 11 February 2021
Location: Brooklyn
Synopsis: Investigation starts
Cast of Characters: Shannon Davis, Dick Grayson

Shannon Davis has posed:
Surrounded by police car, the apartment is in an uproar, everyone's raging at Shannon's parents for hiding such a monstrous freak, for not turning her in to the police, for letting this happen. How many died in that incident? How many more would die for their negligence? The cops are taking statements and everyone startled that she might come back.

Dick Grayson has posed:
On occasion, the police departments up and down the Eastern Seaboard like to pool their resources. A sort of 'you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours' scenario. In this particular case, the Bludhaven PD have sent one of their officers up to join an NYPD task force - namely because said officer had 'an inordinate amount of experience with the super-freak sorts.' Little did they know.

Dick ducks under one of the yellow 'police line - do not cross' banners strung between a tree and the mailbox, a cardboard cup of coffee with a plastic lid clutched in one hand. He takes a sip of it, looking around the place from the edifice of the home to the gathered angry neighbors.

"Any chance of clearing the scene a little? All the yellings a bit distracting."

Shannon Davis has posed:
He gets some nasty looks but one of the sargeants starts screaming at the officers to go on and get these people home already. It had been enough of a show, they needed to do a proper investigation now. There were more than enough reports. Shannon`s parents are at the door of the building, looking absolutely broken. Her mother`s crying and her father looks like the very expression of regret. It says right on his face "I should have taken care of it when it started." They both look up at Dick and sigh, figuring they'd have to give yet another statement.

Dick Grayson has posed:
"Hey, I know that look," Dick says in his easy-going tone, smiling warmly at the pair as he moves towards the stairs but remains standing at the bottom of them, "Believe me, I'm not going to ask you a bunch of questions the other guys already asked. I'm what you'd call ... a specialist. I'm just trying to ascertain if anything happened before that might've led you to believe this was coming? Purely in retrospect, of course."

Shannon Davis has posed:
They both shake their heads. "She was okay, well." They both dip their heads. "She seemed really down actually." Says the mother. "Wouldn't talk about it, kept walking out at night until it was late, kept getting in fights 'saving people from thugs'. Yesterday she didn't come home, we thought she was just going to stay out again, but she still hasn't come out. Until now."

Dick Grayson has posed:
"And did you notice anything different about her when she finally did come home?" Dick asks, "Besides the obvious, of course. If you were to put the person who was going off to save people and this person who came home alongside one another ... how would they differ?"

Shannon Davis has posed:
The two of them frown, seeming confused. "No, she just got really down about a week ago. Seemed depressed and really angry. She kept going in and out of the house all the time but there wasn't any change like that. She seemed to finally have gotten her spirits up a bit, what, three days ago. But then she didn't come home." The mother explains. "She ran away, she doesn't like us and doesn't want the life we want for her. She's just chasing her stupid dreams. That's what I thought at the time." Says the father.

Dick Grayson has posed:
"What kind of dreams are those?" Dick asks, canting his head to one side, "If you don't mind my asking? And what kind of life do you want for her instead?"

Shannon Davis has posed:
The father stands up angrily, staring at the mother. "We knew this was gonna happen, don't you try to deny it." He then turns to Dick. "She wanted to be a hero, to do 'awesome stuff and save people' as she said. But she's not right. Her head's messed up. She's not like the rest of us. It never got bad enough to show, but I know it, I know her. I always knew she was going to blow up like this. We should have turned her in to an institution for mutants or something. That girl is dangerous and she doesn't care that she is." THe mother just stares sadly at the ground while he speaks. "We just wanted her to go to a nice college and live a good life. But she was...never really like her siblings. She couldn't focus on anything."

Dick Grayson has posed:
Dick doesn't take any notes, or at least he doesn't appear to. In truth, he long ago mastered the art of marshalling his memory in such a way as to keep all the information he might need stored upstairs. He takes in what the father has to say, nodding his head thoughtfully but saying nothing as he takes another sip of his coffee. When the mother talks, he listens to her as well. He takes in both outbursts before finally speaking up, clearing his throat a little:

"I understand it's tough, and things like mutant abilities can be hard to come to terms with. But whatever's driving this? We'll get to the bottom of it. You just need to make sure you're here if the road to recovery leads back this way, okay?"
