ARMOR Interview: Hank Pym
Date of Scene: 11 February 2021
Location: Pym's Mobile Lab
Synopsis: Rhodey learns some things about the doppelgangers and recruits people into ARMOR.
Cast of Characters: Hank Pym, James Rhodes, Reed Richards, Michael Hannigan

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym IS NOT a happy man. This week saw his dating life disrupted or destroyed by villains, his house and Rover 2.0 destroyed by his hand to deny sensitive technology to evil doubles, his prime mobile lab damaged and his trio of helper ants lost and probably dead. The good part is his BPD disorder's depression cycle meant he can't feel any worse.

"And yet my ex-wife is alive, well, America's sweetheart, and playing house with the living legend a hundred yards away, when she isn't cozying up to Nadia.

"**** the Universe. JARVIS... play Comfortably Numb, please." Hank sings along, sitting by his microscope.

James Rhodes has posed:
"Dr. Pym?" A voice comes from just outside the lab, as its owner tries to figure out how to actually get inside the thing, "I'm James Rhodes, I'm with ARMOR, a subdivision of SHIELD," he explains as he ducks to walk inside the lab itself, "Dr. Pym?" he calls again. It is clear that he is not entirely sure where he should be in the lab, and he's doing his best to avoid the workers who are carrying out repairs on the building.

"Guess it could be worse, guess Lang could try and live like this in the mansion..." James mutters, before he turns another corner and calls, "Dr. Pym?" He seems to be mostly following the sound of the music, so he is getting closer to where Hank is hiding out.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym looks up again from the microscope and throws a blanket he was huddled in aside. It reveals his Yellowjacket uniform with the cowl pulled back and gloves removed. "Yes? I'm in here, just follow the music... <JARVIS volume level 9.> I hope you have a coat. It's drafty in here right now. Don't worry about the ants, they're half asleep in this cold they just get up for a little water and syrup... and when I'm avenging and such, it's just Hank." Comfortably Numb continues to play.

James Rhodes has posed:
The man does indeed follow the sound of the music, and eventually gets to the lab in question. He spots Hank in his Yellowjacket uniform, and then nods, "Right, right. I don't think we've officially met, I'm Rhodey, War Machine. Whatever you want to call me Hank. You're...not an inspiration for me but for Tony, just huge. He's a big big fan. Unfortunately, I'm not here for Avenging, but rather SHIELD business." He steps a little further into the lab, "You've caught their attention, they've made me a Senior Agent in ARMOR, and so I get to come and ask you about your past couple of days. And, what caused all this," he says, motioning to the clear damage to his lab.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym boggles a little it at the explanation. He ponders what to attack first and puts a hand on Rhodey's shoulder. "I suggest you ponder whether someone has it in for you sending you here so uninformed. You read my reports right? Evil doubles have been targeting my tech. Four days ago, the double... of... my deceased first wife showed up with her daughter, my daughter's double. She seemed to negate all my usual means of attack and I wasn't fully kitted anyway. Her daughter went off to seek some technology. I used remote control to send my mini jet... Rover into my house destroying it. I narrowly escaped. I /think/ they were after the sensor Nadia and I built to detect wormholes. then a double of a young girl I was tutoring showed up and when Jennifer and I tried to detain her, did this! She had kinetic control for attack and defense and a... a goddam symbiote. Like I don't have enough problems. Anyway after knocking out that wall you walked through and several other and releasing a cloud of Flourine compounds I was working on she escaped. I remained to deal with the cloud. Hello Reed. Rhodey, Dr. reed Richards, Reed this is James Rhodes. We are trying to make sense of my life... we could use your brain as well."

Hank blinked "Who told you Tony is a fan since he was a kid? First of all he's my age and second of all he should learn to keep his hands off other people's lunch the lousy...." Hank is grinning demonstrating some affection for the frenemy and a string of cussing to make a longshoreman take pause.

Reed Richards has posed:
Reed Richards walks up amiably if a bit long leggedly, he's licking an ice cream cone, and he nods to Hank and to Rhodey, "Colonel Rhodes, a pleasure to finally meet you. You've been drafted into helping with the endeavor? Did you lose a bet?" He nods at Hank, "How far have we gotten, Hank? Anything I can do to expedite things? You could extend power usage by 30% if you moved the equipment around a bit..."

James Rhodes has posed:
"No, I just lost Ant Man and it drove me slightly mad, so I joined SHIELD and SHIELD put me in ARMOR and now I'm here because of that. I think the moral of the story is don't hang around Scott Lang too much." Rhodey replies, before he smiles and says, "Pleasure to meet you as well Dr. Richards."

As Hank talks, he nods, "I read your report, yes. You left a few details out from that telling to this. The part about the symbiote...might be of interest." He considers for a few moments and then asks, "Did the Wormhole sensor survive, or was it destroyed in the blast?" A strange question to ask, but...strange things happen with powered individuals.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym seems to bite his tongue a little. "I find this set up a fair compromise for the ants and myself and prefer it to the design you propose. Also I don't do high energy physics here. I'd rather blow up the Avengers' lab." He smiles a little at that at that thought. "Boy does Tony get angry. Wait... you lost Ant-Man?! How did you lose him? Did he shrink into the Microverse? He does that! Or did he grow into the Oververse in which case... we're all in deep! I need that report right now, Colonel! And if you mention my concern in other than a professional manner... I'll beam Downton Abbey into your brain on a loop!"?

Reed Richards has posed:
Reed Richards frowns and rolls his eyes at Hank and shakes his head for Rhodey, "He can't do that, Tony's psirewalls are too good. It would take Val some serious effort, Nadia maybe." Someone is left out. "Well, if you rotated it and then realigned here and here, I think that would minimize the magnetic field resonance for the ants... Mr Lang is very resilient. I think that's why Hank chose him. He squints at the Oververse and narrows his eyes you can see the math if you look close. "Tony is an engineer, it's in his nature to abhor chaos... which is ironic, considering his life choices."

James Rhodes has posed:
"He fought an Eldritch being with me, then passed out and shrank down. I THOUGHT he had gone microscopic but we brought out some detectors and couldn't find anything in a fifty mile radius so we figured he had snuck off to go rob a bank or something. Then he sent some half-assed video message to Avengers HQ. Claims he's been abducted by aliens." Rhodey replies with a slow shrug. He then sighs quietly at the chaos going on around him with scientists trying to rearrange the lab and Hank threatening him. The man pinches the bridge of his nose with his fingers for a moment and then says, "Look. We'd love your help. Both of you. In ARMOR. Can I like, push through some paperwork to make you two consultants? You can come drink with us in the secret Avengers lounge at Triskelion if you're in the neighborhood. Just don't tell Coulson where it is."

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Because of a, not quite detailed but detailed enough, phone call. Mike's trip over to Hank's lab was quicker than usual. Powers were used to get to the general area. But with Hank stating he was okay, he STILL respected the basic security checks that go on at the grounds, checking in as himself. Hank should get some some sort of notifcation of his arrival after he checks in. As he makes his way to the lab door the notice of something lacking around the lab is noted. Any chance of a smile has faded by the time the rocker knocks on the lab door.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym did indeed see the indicator but had dropped his current conversation to make a quick phone call. "Lang's daughter isn't answering. Maybe she's having a nap. I'll head out to check on her. Well, add my successor to the list of things I'm losing, hopefully I can get him back. Hello Mike. I think you know Reed. this is Col. Rhodes. He's investigating evil doubles because of sins in a past life. Otherwise he's a good guy. Mike had to deal with not one but two. In fact, one of the doubles was /not/ evil. Just jonesing for seratonin. I want to see about him immigrating if he wants."

Reed Richards has posed:
Reed Richards frowns considering, "Interesting, though aliens, is a bit broad. Terrestial, Dimensional, if could even be Atlanteans. If you could send me the readings you got, I can see if the energy signals narrow it down." He smiles considering the offer, "That's very kind, though I could never attend any sort of secret lounge without Ben. I am always available to help. See what your people can pull together. I can have legal send you over the standard consulting form is that makes it easy." He nods to Mike, "Good to see you again." To Hank, "That is a lovely idea, I'm sure he could apply for refugee status, have you talked to Jen? "

Michael Hannigan has posed:
As he comes in, Mike glances around the lab. The setting frown deepens. Pale eyes flick over to Hank then towards the other two as they're introduced. He blinks before giving a nod to the two.

"Ah yes." He looks over to Reed, "You were there when " He pauses, "...Rod told us about Gellar."

He looks to Rhodes. "Uh. So yeah. The first one was the double of a close friend who died in 2013. Didn't get the 'evil' vibe from him. But he did warn us about another double named 'Gellar' who turned out to be the double of one of my other friends. And it turns out that instead of being at a conference for a few days he was a guest of Gellar's. " Mike reaches a hand back to scratch the back of his neck. "Wade's safe now. Hank and-" He looks over to Hank, "Shannon?"

He looks back to James, "They tracked him down and got Gellar too."

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym ponders. "I locked up your pal Mole-Man the night my house was torched... say perhaps one of the Subterrania kingdoms did it? I mean that lava vent might have some kind of link to them... besides all the other options. I want to go there with my gear anyway... I bet I detect Pym particles better than S.H.I.E.L.D." There's a ring and Hank answers the phone looking extraordinarily tired. "Hello? Bartucci... oh hah yeah he picks up laundry and dry cleaning from my house. What? A big load... yeah great! Have him drive it over to the lab!" He looks at his double sensor and picks it up, turning it on. He indicates Reed should do as well. "If this is another double... I'm going to jail, I swear to Tesla... Oh... I'm reading negative. How about you, Reed?"

Reed Richards has posed:
Reed Richards activates the suit computer and makes a frame around the subject with his hand, there's a melodious ding and the subject appears to a green tinge when viewed through the frame, "Same. I'm sure you detect them better, Hank. Mole man? Really? That is a while, where are you keeping him? No place with subtereanan access I hope? Link to the dopplegangers? ... wait you scanned him, correct?"

James Rhodes has posed:
"Ok...so...I will send along the forms I need you two to sign, and we'll get this going. We're....sort of at a dead end and just need some way to detect the arrival of these guys before they can start wreaking havoc." Rhodey replies to Hank and Reed, before he looks to Michael, "You found a friendly one of these? How? Who? What happened? Where are they?" he asks.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym says, "Mike can give you his particulars. His name is Rod. He'll tell you what you want to know. Hank smirks at Reed. "They took Mole Man to the Raft... in a mason jar. so no worries there. I'm sending the Raft a double sensor like this. But, don't worry but pretty sure it was him. He called me a has been and was screaming about his date standing him up." He boggles a little at the holo display from a mere suit computer. "Hello Mr. Bartucci! How are you? I appreciate the call. You're out of your way. I really could use a change of clothes. I have a bad case of lab funk going on."

Mr. Bartucci is a diminutive man of Mediterranean descent with a mustache and van Dyke. "Doctor Pym, so glad you're all right... or even average! Marronna what a hole you make! Anyway... I got your clothes on the truck and... some assistants. they were hiding from the SHIELD men in the woods. I guess they know me better." Skitter, skitterskitterskitterskitterskitterskitter!

Mike will recognize the giant ants who enter immediately, bundles of clothes on their heads. they immediately drop the bagged items and rush to Hank, knocking him over and thrashing him with their antennae! Their mandibles grab at his limbs. Hank laughs his head off.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Mike watches the two scientists pointing their tech of choice off towards an unsuspecting laundry man, tilting his head curiously.

He looks back to James. "Well, it's more like -Rod found me. Seems he was at some shelter. Saw me on TV and found me at the studio. Hank just happened to be swinging by around that time and Nadia came by later knocked him on his butt. He ended up staying at the lab after that. We tried some stuff to help with his mood and he got easier to talk to after that. Kept talking about always having a knife on you. But...That's probably the weirdest thing."

When the giant ants come running over, the musician turns his head. Expression brightening. "Bo!"

Reed Richards has posed:
Reed Richards nods and smiles but makes a note to upgrade the rafts low frequency acoustic bafflers. "Really? Times have gotten hard on the boulevard." Reed grins, and watches the controlled chaos." He take what looks like a stylized pex dispenser fro his pocket and pulls out three cubes, offering them to the ants and as he tosses them they equilibrate to the side of the any becoming proportionally large.

James Rhodes has posed:
James Rhodes nods as he listens to Michael, and then says, "I think I'll be sending a couple of agents over to speak with them, if that's all right?" he asks the group at large. He sticks his hands in his pockets as the conversation moves around him.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym finally gets up and Bo scuttles over to Mike. Unnoticed, Mr. Bartucci grabs the clothes and rearranges them on the counter. Cozette begins handing him bags of clothes. Foss waves his antennae and seems to be having a long drawn out talk to Hank. Hank finally gives him a pat on the head. "He says he wants a vacation. They learned that from Lang. Soon Foss. Soon I hope."

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Mike shrugs, looking over to Hank, and then back to James "I don't know where the doubles are but, Wade's working from the condo while he heals up."

As Bo comes towards Mike, he turns his attention over to the ant, grinning as he brings a hand down, sort of petting him. "Good to see you Bo. Had me worried for a sec."
