Nothing taken to SHIELD
Date of Scene: 16 February 2021
Location: Main Foyer: Triskelion
Synopsis: No description
Cast of Characters: James Rhodes, Nihil, Nick Fury

James Rhodes has posed:
The message that War Machine sent to SHIELD was, perhaps not the most comforting: <<War Machine bringing in an extra dimensional being. Goes by Nihil. Seems friendly, claims to have knowledge of the rifts that are opening and bringing our doppelgangers through. I think. It was a bit difficult to follow. Also, claims to have met Loki, so, maybe have a few people around to keep an eye on things, should this go sideways? ETA twenty minutes.>> And, he has taken nearly all twenty minutes to appear on the horizon.

He looks over his shoulder, and calls to the being following him, "Land where I land, and, do not make any sudden moves. Nobody there knows you, we don't have much of an idea of what is going on with you. Let us figure that out." before he begins his glide in to the landing zone at Shield HQ. He lands with a heavy *clank* on the ground, and then straightens up to see what the welcoming committee he called for looks like.

Nihil has posed:
Flying isn't exactly what most would do for Nihil. Most fly straight through the air. The classic flying stance, arms forward or at their side, maybe one fist ahead. Laying down and going through the air like a missile. Nihil, well, Nihil is easily reaching speeds of upwards of half the speed of sound and is just sorta levitating. Arms at its side, floating forward as if on some kind of elevator. Finally it lands, the t-Shirt, Shoes, and Jeans it currently wears are not harmed, dirty or otherwise. It's as if it had not just been moving at over three hundred miles per hour.

"Let you figure it out? What is there to figure out? I am well aware of what I am and what is going on with me. What is there to figure out?" It seems confused, Nihil's eyes going over the building and casually examining it on a level that, well, most modern, powerful scanners simply can't. It is simply casual curiosity, but a deep scan all the same of the materials making up the structure.

Nick Fury has posed:
The foyer to the Triskelion is grand, with marble flaws and a lapis lazuli inlaid SHIELD logo in the floor with flecks of gold. Large vertical windows let in a lot of light. There's metal detectors and security cameras and other uniquely calibrated sensor devices hidden around the place; and a large staircase leading up to the next floor past all this security. It is usually bustling with agents coming and going, visitors, dignitaries, and of course lots of security. But not this time. Instead, there is one agent standing upon the SHIELD blazon wearing a black suit and black sunglasses when Rhodes and Nihil arrive.

Agent Jasper Sitwell, head of SHIELD Security, Level 8. His hands tucked behind his back as he waits patiently. He has a lanyard clipped to the lapel of his suit with his identification on it. In fact, the only other person near by is a man wearing a winter cap and a long leather jacket. He's off to the side, leaning against the wall with his arms folded. He appears to be missing an eye and wearing an eyepatch. Very stylish for a pirate.

"Greetings," Sitwell says and offers a hand to Nihil, "I'm Agent Sitwell. Welcome to SHIELD." He nods to Rhodes and asks, "Agent Rhodes, you were a little vague on the nature of this meeting. Care to fill me in?"

James Rhodes has posed:
After landing War Machine turns to look at the being that is speaking to him for a moment, before he turns back to the two SHIELD people that make up the welcome wagon, "Agent Sitwell, Director Fury," he says with a nod to both men, before he steps to the side and motions to Nihil, "This, is Nihil. And, sorry for being vague. Nihil is an extra-dimensional being. They...well they can explain their origin, but, we picked them up using the new upgraded detection system Pym and Richards have been working on. They claim they can see the...cracks that appear between dimensions, though they do not think they can repair them without the right kind of high energy equipment."

Rhodey's facemask comes up, and he adds, "I think if we let the big brains downstairs speak with them, we might have a way to help protect ourselves from the doppelgangers that are coming into our dimension."

Nihil has posed:
A look at the two that are here and Nihil seems to examine them carefully. It looks from one to the other and upon approach, Nihil blinks at Sitwell's hand. It looks down at the hand before offering out its own hand, though not taking Sitwell's. Nihil seems to stand there briefly with that same pose before pulling the hand back if not taken. It seems to be mimicing Sitwell. It then looks to Fury and considers him, "You have damage." It states simply enough, "You should see to it that it is repaired. Your kind need both eyes to help with depth perception."

It then turns to look at Rhodes before nodding, "Extra-Dimenssional is a good way to describe the space between dimensions though it does not capture the truth of the matter." Nihil then turns back to the pair that have greeted them, "I am to assume that you two are of the SHIELD as well. I cannot, as stated, simply close breaches any longer. I could only repair them before as it was. It is true that I no longer have access to the appropriate energy necessary to seal cracks and breaches in the fabric of space that makes up your universe."

Nick Fury has posed:
Sitwell glances down at the hand as it's withdrawn and he looks a little confused, then takes his back too. This isn't the first alien he's met, but it's not like he did well with them either. "Please try to be a bit more specific next to Agent Rhodes," Sitwell says alluding to the fact that they specially cleared the entire foyer because of his message.

"Now we're talking," says Fury as he pushes off the wall and walks over, "Jasper you're dismissed." Sitwell nods to Fury and turns, then heads away. "My name is Fury," Nick says to Nihil and doesn't offer his hand, having seen how well that went for Sitwell. "Welcome to Earth," he says in an almost 'yadda yadda' kind of way.

"You are mistaken," he says with a smile, "Humans perceive depth just as well with one eye as with two, our eyes have micro movements which are used to create a depth field in our minds." His hands come out in front of him and he says, "Also I'm still a great shot. Personal experience, I have no issues seeing depth. Fractures between realities, on the other hand, I have a great deal of trouble seeing."

"SHIELD, and ARMOR, would be very interested in developing technology to close off future breaches from opening to our reality. If that's something you know how to do, we would be very happy to introduce you to our finest in dimensional mathematicians and high energy physicists. Agent Rhodes, are you proposing you'd like this fine new friend of ours, Nihil, to consult with ARMOR?"

James Rhodes has posed:
James Rhodes gives Sitwell a strained smile, before he replies, "Of course Agent Sitwell," though the look he gives the man when he walks away is of annoyance. If one could read his mind they'd get a very clear depiction of what he thinks of the vacating agent. When Fury speaks though, turns back to the man and nods, "I believe that Nihil -- if they would consent to it -- would be a valuable resource for ARMOR. Plus, if we can keep them busy, maybe it keeps them out of Tony's hands before he tries to develop a trans-dimensional Iron Man suit and accidentally swallows half of Los Angeles in doing so." There is a small smile there, he's only half joking. At best.

Nihil has posed:
A blink at Fury and it is about to go into information about binocular vision and the like, but then there's a change of subject and it turns to watch Sitwell leave as well. This entire interaction appears to be confusing in a way though if Nihil is confused, it isn't exactly clear. Nihil instead turns to look briefly at Rhodes as he is spoken to before turning back to Nick Fury and stating, "I do not know that it is possible to fully prevent any and all incursions into one dimension from another. There will always be beings that can do that. I was responsible, however, for closing up such breaches in order to make it more difficult." Nihil looks then to Rhodes and then to Fury.

"I could best describe it as having a crack or hole in one of these walls." It points to a nearby wall, "Even if the crack is small, it is far easier to go through that point than it is to go through a solid wall. I can potentially find such cracks or perhaps help you to detect them." It nods, "And then work on ways to seal them using the limited technology available to your kind." Nihil then pauses and turns to look at Rhodes more directly.

"Who is this Tony? If this is something he is developing, he needs to be stopped immediately. Such a thing could potentially rip apart all of Los Angeles." It then turns to look at Nick Fury, "I assume Los Angeles is what your kind calls this Universe."

Nick Fury has posed:
There was little doubt in Fury's mind when he asked Rhodes to head up the new ARMOR team that he'd be the right guy for the job. Finding Nihil and bringing them in? well now Rhodes was going above and beyond. Just like a good SHIELD Agent should. He smiles and says, "Don't be too mad at him, he's just doing his job Rhodes."

"As you might be aware Nihil, recently another version of Earth began a sudden and mass exodus in to our Earth. Duplicates of people have clashed with each other. ARMOR was established to round these foreigners up and give them a polite trip back to where they came from. If we can close the doors they're using to get here or make it harder then all the better."

"Tony is a very smart man who sometimes has very bad ideas. But I believe in him. Rhodes," he tries to explain to Nihil, "is making a joke. Many of the brightest minds on Earth have stumbled and caused catastrophy from time to time. When Earth was attacked by an alien battle world recently, Tony when attempting to make a device to disable the alien shielding system, accidentally blew up half of his home."

"Nihil, being an extra-dimensional being, I understand if you are busy.. but if you are interested in helping us with our own extra-dimensional problems, we would be most appreciative," Fury says touching fingertips together in a bridge.

James Rhodes has posed:
"I am not mad at him, per se. But more...the type of soldier he reminds me of. A little too...officious, y'know?" Rhodes asks of Fury, turning to his fellow veteran. "Just..a little too eager to follow the rules to the letter." He shakes his head though, and then turns to Nihil and Fury more fully, "I mean, I am right though, he'd have her building a wormhole in twenty minutes." Another joke? But he slides his hands behind his back. "We could really use your...expertise in this area Nihil. You'd be a very valuable member of the team."

Nihil has posed:
A slow blink and then Nihil looks to the right for a long moment, "I am not sure that I will ever understand humor." It then looks back to Nick, "These jokes seem to be about mass death. I am not sure I follow the humor." It then looks over at James briefly before looking back to Nick, "I am currently unable to be inbetween dimensions and so I have nothing else to do." It nods, "I would be..." It pauses and Nihilo seems to search for the word.

"...I believe I would be pleased to help with this situation. Perhaps content?" It asks of James and then Nick as if they'd know before it pauses, "Suffice it to say, I will help." It nods before considering, "I do need to return to the T-Shaped tower and speak to others who are also helping me as well, however. I was not meant to be away for as long as I have been."

Nick Fury has posed:
Fury nods to James. If he were a by the book soldier he never would have ended up in the Avengers. "Colonel when you bring me an extra-dimensional expert on extra dimensions, I trust you know what you're doing." He turns back to Nihil with a friendly smile and says, "Nihil, in that case, welcome to ARMOR. If you need help adjusting to living on Earth we are experience with resettling aliens and time travellers alike. Not a joke," he adds that last bit to reassure them.

"The Titans have big hearts and big Instagram follower numbers. They mean well and do well, but ARMOR isn't goofing around. These people crossing over have killed and they will continue to kill and attempt to kill. They do not belong here."

"Speaking of which. We will be moving our gateway to their Earth Friday week to The Playground which will be ARMORs new staging area for returning people back there and sending mercy missions through. The Amazonians on the other side have been stepping up their game. We need them to see SHIELD is doing our part."
