Cold Day. Hot Coffee.
Date of Scene: 16 February 2021
Location: The Coffee Bean
Synopsis: What happens when a winged mutant, an assassin sigh sais, a hidden mutant, and a ghost whisperer all gather for coffee? Um, they get coffee.
Cast of Characters: Warren Worthington, Viola Fiore, Elektra Natchios, Andrew Wrate

Warren Worthington has posed:
New York City has all types of people so it isn't that much of a surprise when the more public known faces are seen out and around about town, but when that someone has large angelic wings protruding from his back people still tend to stare. So it's really no surprise that when Warren Worthington steps into a place like the Coffee Bean, people take notice. After all, doesn't he have people to do this sort of thing for him?

After landing outside on the sidewalk the winged mutant makes his way through the glass doors and gets in line like any of the other people in the shop, save for maybe having to give a quick autograph here or there from someone looking for a brush with one of the 'rich and famous'. He is dressed as one would expect from a billionaire, in a sharp and expertly tailored dark suit with modifications made for the large feathered wings on his back.

Viola Fiore has posed:
A Mercedes convertible pulls into a parking garage across the street, before the Angel's landing, but the driver not emerging until after the famed CEO and X-man is already inside. Viola Fiore walks out the garage's door and onto the street, turning to go over to the corner and wait for the walking signal before she crosses the street.

She pulls out her phone as it buzzes. "No no no," she murmurs after reading a message on it. She tabs a few times and then dictates to the phone, "No put up the balconies along the inside of the Dungeon. All but a few individual stands in the hallway to get people in the mood as they are heading to the room."

Viola checks the results and sends the message off before she moves to step inside. She's wearing a jacket that comes down to her knees against the cold, and had gloves on but pulled them off when working her phone. Just inside, she pauses in surprise, seeing the man with the beautiful white wings standing inside.

Elektra Natchios has posed:
The Coffee bean isn't exactly the most usual of places where one would find Elektra. Try the hellfire club, or some high end restaurant. But this one would do. A message had been sent earlier to one Viola Fiore to meet here. Turns out that after their meeting at that spa there was more in common than she expected. So some follow-up was due.

Elektra is already inside, sitting at one of the tables, a tea in front of her. She is dressed more casual than her usual. Black jeans and shirt, leather jacket having been tossed on a chair next to her. At least she does have heels. Which she is already regretting having brought considering it was colder than she expected.

A look is cast down at her phone and then up, dark gaze fixing on the angellic being walking in. Well, that's not a sight for every day. She smiles in that enigmatic way of hers, her attention now more focused on Warren while she waits for someone.

Andrew Wrate has posed:
New York is big and filled with all types and Andrew is just another face in the crowd as he makes his way down the street to The Coffee Bean. He's a tall man, with dark sandy hair neatly cut and styled that's dressed in an understated but well tailored black on black suit with comfortable leather shoes and a long, thick, gray overcoat over it all.

Leather gloves cover his hands and when he spots Viola moving to the door he gives her a smile and opens it, holding it to allow the women entry before he follows behind her. Rubbing his hands a bit he grins as he spots the winged mutant and gives an up nod of his head in that direction. "We might be in luck, he'll draw crowd away from the counter making ordering a bit easier I think."

A playful wink is given to Viola as he motions for her to continue on to the counter ahead of him as she entered first. Pulling his gloves off he shoves the pair into his pockets while letting his calculating gaze slowly move over the room.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Trying to be as polite as possible to the people that start to swarm the public figure, Warren smiles graciously and tries to inch his way along the line as best as he can as he continues to sign autographs, "Ok folks, a few more autographs and that's it, ok? I'm really just here to get a cup of coffee just like the rest of you. In fact, why don't I just buy everyone in line their coffee, maybe that will save some time. Barista, just start a tab and I'll pay it when I get up there..."

Being swarmed by the patrons, Warren can't really pick out anyone in the crowd so he doesn't pay any particular attention to Elektra's attention, other than to give her a brief smile as he manages to look her way and catch her eyes on him.

Viola Fiore has posed:
A smile is given to Andrew as he pulls the door open for Viola. "Thank you," she tells him as she steps through, and moving to the side so he can get in, even if her eyes are focused on Angel at that first glimpse of him.

She does turn back to Andrew though as he mentions getting into line for the counter. "Oh, please, go ahead. I'm waiting for someone," she tells him.

But then Viola looks around and spots Elektra Natchios over at a table. "And there she is," Viola says to Andrew before stepping away to go greet the other woman before getting herself a beverage. "Elektra," Viola says, flashing a smile to the Greek woman. "It was nice to hear from you," she offers. "You know I was just about to reply back I was buried in work, when some working with me heard me mention who had invited me out. And she said I should definitely go?" Viola makes it a bit of a question, apparently not knowing of Elektra's connection at the Hellfire Club yet.

Elektra Natchios has posed:
"Oh, you sweet summer child. Now you have done it..." Elektra murmurs to herself when she hears Warren offering to buy everyone in line their coffee. It might just make them cling even more to the man. But alas, the assassin is here for the rescue. When the winged man's eyes rest on her she makes him a signal, as if in invitation for him to join them when he is done with getting coffee. If he can shake off his fans!

Yet a familiar face is glimpsed as she glances about again, eyes resting first on Viola, then on Andrew. Acquaintances? Mmmm, maybe not. She smiles gently up to Viola when she nears her table. "Hello, Viola. It is great to see you again." she says. "And I know." this about her work. "I thought you might want a moment's respite. To breathe." the smile turning to a more amused one. "Afterall we can't go to the spa every day, mmm?"

"You have been doing a good job with the preparations at the Club, Viola." She at least seems aware of whats going on there. "But please, go get a drink. You may even get a free one. Mr. Worthington appears to be buying."

Andrew Wrate has posed:
"You're welcome," Andrew replies with a polite nod towards Viola. His gaze is naturally drawn towards Elektra as she's spoken of. Smiling a bit towards both women he turns and then makes his way towards the counter. He arrives in line just as Warren declares he'll be paying for everyone and that gets a clap from the crowd, Drew included.

Moving up toward the winged billionaire he doesn't ask for a selfie or an autograph, instead he simply leans in to say, "Thanks, that's pretty cool." A wink follows as he adds, "Make a break for the counter, I'll run interference." Turning away from Warren he grabs one of the nearby paper menus and quickly folds it up into an airplane. A quick look around to make sure no one is /really/ paying attention to him and he whispers a soft spell over the plane and then launches it up into the air.

The magic isn't flashy or even that great. The charm makes the plane take on the appearance of a pigeon in erratic flight, making its way around in lazy circles that dip and dive as it makes it way towards the door which someone opens just in time for the bird to escape. Meanwhile, the magician himself is pointing and making a bigger seen to draw attention to the spectacle just as he told Warren he'd do.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Of course, Elektra is right. As soon as Warren makes the offer people swarm the line in order to take advantage of the offer. The winged man sighs, reaching up to rub at his forehead for a moment as he tries to make his way to the counter, giving Elektra a sheepish smile and shrug of his shoulders as he realizes his mistake far too late. He gives the Greek woman a nod though, holding up a finger to indicate he will join as soon as if can...if he can.

Which, thanks to a distraction by Andrew he manages to make his way to the counter as people take their eyes off him for long enough to check out the bird in the coffee shop. Breathing a sigh of relief, Warren gives the barista a smile and orders his intended dose of caffeine, pulling out a money clip and pulling of a few bills, "Here...just use this till it runs out for the people in line...and here," he says as he slips out another few bills to drop into the tip jar, "that is for you all."

Viola Fiore has posed:
Quite surely Viola already suspected some connection at the Hellfire Club for Elektra, but hearing the woman was familiar with Viola's work there still comes as a small surprise. "Oh, thank you. It's quite a big affair, so much to do," the Italian-American young woman says, her face lighting up with a bit of a smile. "But, exciting to work on as well. I really do hope it all comes together as we're planning," she says.

Viola looks over towards the counter, seeing the people gathering there. "Maybe I should-" she starts to say, that she should wait to get her coffee given how many people there are in line. Though she catches sight of what Andrew is doing folding up the paper, and then... she really doesn't know WHAT he did, but she was looking at him at the time which is what causes her words to die out.

"Wow," Viola says, eyes widening. She looks to Elektra and back to the bird, then tells Elektra in a soft voice or loud whisper, "He's probably another mutant too. Interesting power." Back at a more normal volume, Viola says, "Let me grab a drink fast then before they reform the line," she says, moving over to the counter. "Thank you, Mr. Worthington," she tells Warren, waiting until he has his coffee, and Andrew as well, before placing an order.

Elektra Natchios has posed:
"You were chosen for a reason, I have no doubts about your capacity to bring this ship to good port." Elektra says back to Viola, tone smooth and elegant, the woman resting back on her chair, "It is unfortunate that I may not be able to participate on the party. But perhaps I shall still make a very small appearance." who knows what the assassin has planned for this evening?!

The ruse created by Andrew doesn't go unperceived, Elektra following Vi's eyes to it, a brow arching. Neat trick indeed. And the explanation from the young woman does make sense, "Interesting indeed. Why don't you invite him to our table too? The least we can do to thank him from saving Mr. Worthington." she says to Viola.

Tea is brought up to her lips and she takes a brief drink from it while waiting for the 'gang' to convene at her table.

Andrew Wrate has posed:
With most of the eye's drawn away and the crowd pointing and focused away from the counter, Drew slips away with a shake of his head. When Warren orders, he follows up behind placing his own. "I'll get a large dark roast, no room for cream... Mmmm, you know what, since this is being paid for by such a gracious man, hit me with some caramel in that thing and a shot of expresso... I'll get a chocolate filled croissant too, warmed please."

Reaching into his pocket he pulls out a few folded bills and peels off a tip that's dropped in the jar in place of paying for the order. Smiling he looks to Warren and says, "Thanks! Not a bad start to a day having someone cover the cost of coffee and a warm pastry." With that said he makes sure he moves out of the way so Viola can order before the rush of the crowd can turn and press toward the cashier.

Warren Worthington has posed:
"Of course. You are both welcome," Warren grins to Viola and Andrew, "and thank you for that distraction, sir. I should know better than to come out in public like this. It's always a spectacle."

Coffee obtained Warren makes his way over towards Elektra's table to take a seat, selecting a chair that's back it to the open air so his wings can hang out over the back of it. He offers the Greek woman a nod as he lifts his paper cup to his lips to take a sip of the hot liquid inside, "Thank you for your hospitality, Ms. Natchios, though I fear inviting me to your table may just bring the masses your way."

Viola Fiore has posed:
Viola seems agreeable to Elektra's suggesting to invite the other mutant as well, as Viola thinks Andrew to be. She moves over and tells him as he is getting his coffee and pastry, "That was a very amazing thing you can do. If you'd like to join us at our table, you'd be welcome to," she tells him, offering Andrew a soft smile.

The Italian-American young woman gets herself a cappuccino then, adding a little sugar but not too much, and stirring it as she brings the wide-mouthed cup back over to the table. She takes a seat there, telling Warren, "I'm Viola. Viola Fiore," as she settles into her chair. She goes quiet then, not wanting to interrupt the pair's conversation further yet.

Elektra Natchios has posed:
"Of course, Mr. Worthington. Least I could do." Dark gaze now settled on the mutant angel, a very faint smile to her lips, "Your popularity does seem to be soaring." she notes on the way he was received inside the coffee place, "And in a good way considering all that's been happening as of late." then she chuckling briefly at the mess coming her way, "If they do it will be a good test for the young Ms. Fiore and her capabilities. Did you know she is organizing the party at the Hellfire tonight? I do hope you will be attending."

She pauses to look up when Viola returns and smiles at her. "We were just discussing the party later on. Ms. Fiore has been working herself tirelessly to get this done. But some rest, a good coffee. Those are also needed before such an event, yes?"

Andrew Wrate has posed:
Andrew gives Warren a smile and a nod in response to his thanks. No sugar or anything else is added to the cup as its passed off along with the pastry. Taking both, he looks to Viola and smiles back, "Sure. I'll join you guys. Though I don't think I'm on par or of the caliber you may be thinking me to be." Holding his cup and pastry bag he makes his way over to the table and waits for Viola to sit before putting his things down and pulling a chair out for himself.

The long overcoat is slipped out of and folded over the back of the chair before he unbuttons his suit jacket and takes a seat. "Hey, thanks for the invite. I'm Andrew... Everyone just calls me Drew." Pausing he looks to the others at the table then laughs. "I have to say, this is a trip."

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren frowns a bit as Elektra mentions recent events, not like he is going to go on record and admit he knows more about the situation than is shown on the news but his face may tell things his words wont to someone of her perception. "Yeah. That's been a bit rough for mutant relations for sure. I just happen to be a bit more public than others, and as such I get attention. Some of it good, some of it bad...I'm sure for every one of the people here that came up for an autograph, there are an equal number who just want to toss their coffee on me."

Warren shrugs a shoulder, which causes one of the wings on his back to ruffle with movement. "As far as the HFC, I don't tend to head to any events there. The ownership and I don't always see eye to eye on things."

Warren smiles as Viola makes her way to her seat, nodding in greeting. "A pleasure, Ms. Fiore. Warren Worthington," he greets as he offers over his hand, a repeated gesture as Andrew makes his way to the table and introduces himself.

Viola Fiore has posed:
Viola gives her hand to Warren, shaking it before greeting Andrew with a smile as he joins them. "Oh, I'm sorry you won't be making it," Viola says, staying away from touching on anything further about Warren's disagreements with what will turn out to be her boss if they thinks he does a good enough job with the party to hire her full time.

She looks down at her cup then as they speak about the recent happenings around mutant affairs. Thankfully there isn't a telepath in the room, that Viola knows of at least. No one to sense her memories of the assassination in Washington DC, that she had quietly slipped down to the city to watch the proceedings. She debates adding something, her well wishes for Warren and Andrew, but decides it is a topic she should just stay quiet on.

Elektra Natchios has posed:
Elektra inclines her head back at Warren, agreeing with him, "It's the kind of attention that could be a good propeller to other flights. Like the ones you mentioned on your social media." Of course that she follows social media! As any good assassin. "The time is proper for change to begin to happen."

Andrew's arrival has her smiling up to the man, "Greetings, Andrew." she clearly not someone to use diminutives for names! "I am Elektra Natchios." she introducing herself, one hand offered up to the man. "And a trip you say? How so?" she asks, curious.

Warren's announcement that he won't be attending has her looking at Viola briefly, then back to Warren. "I am sorry as well. It's never too late to mend things though." not that she pries or presses too much into it.

Andrew Wrate has posed:
One tattooed hand reaches out to take Warren's offered hand. A polite and firm shake is given to both offered hands. Settling fully in his seat he looks to each as he tears open the paper bag holding his warm chocolate filled croissant. "Its a pleasure to meet you all." Smiling he takes a moment to look to each person seated while saying their name as if making sure to put the name and face together. His attention then turns to Warren while pulling a small bit of the pastry apart. "Just wear your dance shoes, then every party is a dance party... Everyone loves a dance party, right?"

Popping the pastry in his mouth he chews and swallows as he looks to Elektra, "Oh this is a trip. Sitting with the famous Warren Worthington, chatting with two beautiful women, all while eating and drinking a nice little treat paid for by the billionaire." Smiling a bit he lifts his coffee in salute, "I'm new to the city but if its always like this I'll make sure to stick around."

Warren Worthington has posed:
"Heh, yeah. I may have spouted off a bit there before I actually thought things through. I don't know what I was thinking when I said I should run for office. Somehow I don't think that would work out for the best." Warren admits as he sips at his coffee. "Not that I don't think things need to change, or that there should be mutant representation in government. I just don't know if I am the right man for the job."

The winged mutant looks between Elektra and Viola and purses his lips a bit, "I don't know about that, Ms. Natchios. I'm not sure there are ways to mend the fences that have gotten burned, but I won't outright say no. I'll check with my girlfriend and see if she wants to go, but her outlook on the HFC is pretty much on par with mine, maybe even worse. Either way, though, I am certain you both will have a wonderful time and be the center of attention."

Warren chuckles at Andrew, grinning, "I'm just a guy, really. Just happen to be luckier than others in regards to what family I was born into. I'm really nothing all that special."

Viola Fiore has posed:
Viola sits quietly and listens for now. Making a mental note she really must find out what connection Elektra Natchios has to the Hellfire Club. While Viola did research it, like most people would a potential job offer, there just isn't much out there on them that isn't utterly scrubbed for PR purposes.

There's a soft chime from Viola's phone and she pulls it out of her purse and checks it. "Ah, if you'll pardon me," she says, to all of them, but especially to Elektra, "I think this is one thing I need to make a call to handle. Pardon me. Very nice to meet you, Mr. Worthington, Andrew," she tells them before rising and going off to the side to make a call.

Elektra Natchios has posed:
"The heat of the moment." Elektra saying in an understanding manner towards Warren, "It doesn't mean it won't be the right path to follow. For if it is not us taking the reins about changing the things to how we want them to be then who will?" she muses, taking another drink from her tea, still studying Warren attentively. The feud with the Hellfire club appears to have sparked her curiosity somewhat, "The hellfire club isn't made of only one person." she says, "Most look at what is happening right now and have quite the keen interest in helping."

A glance up to Viola when she excuses herself. "Of course, Ms. Fiore. I will be seeing you later on I am sure. Do take care." the day before the party. Yes, she understands the young woman will be *very* busy.

Finally she looking at Andrew, "New in town? And where do you come from? The trick you did back there isn't something .., usual."

Andrew Wrate has posed:
A wave is given to Viola as Andrew sips from his coffee and eats more of his pastry. His gaze dances between each member in the group, studying their movements and behavior with an analytical eye. Its all subconscious it seems, a behavior that comes naturally and without any thought by the tattooed man. "Hellfire huh, sounds ominous as ffff, or, possibly, very cool. I mean, its odd how those things can go right?" Shrugging a bit he finishes off the pastry then wipes his hands and mouth with a napkin.

When asked about being new and the trick he was able to do, he seems a bit more sheepish in his response. "Oh I'm garbage with stuff like that. Slight of hand, stage magic, misdirection. Its no big deal. Just a way to get attention where its needed." Sipping his coffee he looks between the remaining two and before shrugging his shoulders at his powers. "Oh yeah, I'm new to New York. I grew up out on the west coast but I've been traveling around, doing my thing and checking out the world. Was thinking of making this home."

Warren Worthington has posed:
"Maybe, maybe not. I'll certainly have to give it more thought than 2 seconds on a social media thread though before I commit to anything like that seriously." Warren comments as he leans back in his chair. "Maybe I will take the time to do some surveys. See what the temperature of a move like that really is."

Warren's phone chimes and he retrieves it from his pocket, looking at it and tapping a few buttons as he continues to speak, "As far as the HFC is concerned, I probably know more about it than most. I've been a member all my life, as was my father and his father. I know who runs the place, and..." something on his screen causes him to pause his words, a slight hitch in his voice and reddening of his cheeks as he clears his throat while quickly shutting down the screen, "and, uh, what goes on behind closed doors there is just not something I support. Maybe the party tonight is an exception to the norm, but I just feel if I attend it might send the wrong signals to people."

He watches as Viola leaves, waving his hand to her as she departs before looking towards Andrew as he speaks, "One thing about New York is that it certainly has it all. Name it, you can find it here somewhere."

Elektra Natchios has posed:
With Warren explaining further about his problem with the Hellfire Club it has Elektra mmm, thoughtful. Perhaps a touch surprised? But she nods briefly, "Fair enough." she says in acceptance to it, smiling faintly and finishing her tea. The cup is set aside gently. "I do wish you luck if you indeed do go ahead with joining politics. It's an interesting field to play in."

Andrew receives a smile from Elektra, she not commenting about the name choice about the club. Honestly, not really her choice! "Very good stage magic. And as Mr. Warrington says, this is the place you can find it all. Maybe you will even find where you belong." a beat, "And with such skills I am sure it won't take long." another enigmatic smile and she leans back from her chair.

"But if you will excuse me, it is time for me to be on my way. It was good to see you again, Mr. Worthington. And good to meet you, Andrew." she dips her head at the two before departing, picking her leather jacket from her chair.

Andrew Wrate has posed:
There is a smile and then a nod of the head from Andrew. Standing as Elektra is making ready to take her leave he pulls a small metallic card case from his pocket. Flipping it open he pulls out a card for everyone, handing them off they are nice, thick card start and on the plain white card it reads in clear lettering it reads his name, /Andrew Wrate/, followed by a title /Supernatural Fixer and Occultist/, and then various ways to get in contact with him. One of those cards is slipped into Viola's things so she'll have one too.

"Reach out if you guys ever need anything. Perhaps we'll cross paths at some point. I'll get out of your hair Warren." With that he's button his suit jacket then pulling on his over coat. "I can get out there and find that ever elusive /thing/ that I'm always searching for." With a wink he grabs his coffee. "Enjoy your party and the rest of your day." With that he's slipping out the door.
