She Is Not Talking About The Food
Date of Scene: 23 February 2021
Location: Katz's Deli
Synopsis: Warren makes a first trip to Katz's Deli with Kitty. She gets a friend to grab 'the table' so they can have it when they get there.
Cast of Characters: Kitty Pryde, Warren Worthington

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde had made plans in advance with Warren for dinner tonight. "Somewhere special, but casual," she had told him. And after they'd agreed on the night and time, Kitty had gone off away from Warren to talk on her phone, with glances over to him that gave the appearance that whoever she was talking to, it had something to do with him.

When evening rolls around, Kitty's in a pair of jeans and a sweater. She adds a leather jacket overtop and pulls out some gloves. "Want to fly a girl over for a dinner date?" she asks him with a smile. "Or, we could take a car, or the subway. Either way. Long as it's with you," she tells Warren, smiling and going up on her toes to brush a little kiss to his lips. "It's over in the East Village," she says so he can gauge how he wants to get there.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Dinner together isn't really out of the norm for the pair, since they are living together now. It's more rare when they don't spend an evening together. Going out to dinner though is something more of a treat since Warren tends to not do public dinners all that often, at least not to casual places where there is a lack of VIP status or rooms available for a bit more privacy being as such a public figure as he is. So when Kitty says they are going out, Warren may be a little apprehensive at the prospect, but there is is ready to go at the appointed time in his casual attire...a pair of jeans, a white cotton buttoned down shirt, and a pair of loafers.

"We can fly, sure. You're sure it isn't going to be a problem though, right? I mean, do I need to go strap my wings down or something? Are they going to be able to accommodate me wherever we are going?"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty runs her hand over Warren's chest lightly. "It's just a deli. I mean we'll get the usual looks, but those are fine. Not any where that there isn't enough room for them," she promises him.

She pulls out her phone and sends a quick text. There's an answering beep and then she reads the reply and puts it back away. "Alright. All ready to go," she says, shining a bright smile at Warren. He knows Kitty well enough to tell she's mildly excited about something.

The young woman pulls on her gloves then if they are going to leave by the balcony, walking over there with Warren and sliding her arms around him once they step outside. "Head for the East Village and I'll give you directions from there," she tells him.

And those directions, will lead them to the door of Kat'z Deli.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren arches a suspicious brow as Kitty has whatever text conversation she is having, knowing full well that whatever it is has to pertain to tonight and what is going on, "Alright...".

The winged mutant follows her out onto the terrace and slips one of his arms around the young woman's waist, pulling her close to him. "I don't know what you have planned, Kate, but you have me intrigued. I'll give you that."

Warren takes off into the air with a flap of his wings, banking over towards the East Village as he rises in altitude to soar over the tops of the skyscrapers before descending down in front of the deli, touching down lightly as his wings fold up against his back and he releases Kitty from his arm.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde is wearing a little bit of perfume tonight, which she usually doesn't wear unless she is anticipating moments like this. Held closer to Warren, not necessarily while flying, but that definitely counts as being held close!

She is quite comfortable resting in his arms as he soars her through the New York evening skies. It probably helps that she skydives out of the Blackbird without a parachute without worrying about dying. Though undoubtedly there's also a strong element of trust that would make her feel that way even if she were without her power.

Kitty lets out a happy sigh as they float through the skies, gliding or being propelled by the powerful flaps of Warren's wings. "Some people just tell a girl they'll give her the sky and the stars, but you actually manage it," she tells him, rubbing her hand over Warren where it rests on his shoulder.

Her boots finally touch down to the sidewalk and she lets go, though stays close beside Warren. A few people on the street react as expected, gasping at first, and staring with varying amounts of wonder. "Welcome to Katz's Deli," Kitty says with a smile. She slips off her gloves, taking one of Warren's hands to lead him inside.

It is moderately busy inside, they are a little early for the dinner crush, but it is not far off. The TVs near the ceiling are tuned to sporting events. Kitty looks across the room and says excitedly, "Oh good, she was able to get it!" Her grin is ear to ear as she leads Warren over to the table that has a small sign that identifies as the table from When Harry Met Sally.

The woman sitting at it is Kitty's age. "Good timing. I just got it," she says. Kitty gives the young woman a hug as she rises. "Becks, this is my boyfriend, Warren. Warren, this is Becky. She volunteered to come on ahead and make sure we got the table," she says.

Warren Worthington has posed:
"I don't know about the stars, I can't fly /that/ high," Warren jokes as they fly over to the deli, before they reach their destination.

Warren does a bit of PR before they wander inside the deli, giving a few waves and signing a few autographs before he follows Kitty inside to meet her friend at the table. He offers his hand, "A pleasure to meet you, Becky. You have to at least let me buy you dinner or something for having to sit here and wait for us at.." he reads the placard on the table and smirks slightly, "...this particular table. Please tell me you haven't been waiting long?"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Becky is a pretty girl, with straight blond hair down to the middle of her shoulder blades. Slender with a build similar to Kitty. She pulls on a coat and picks up a bookbag from the floor. "No, not too long at all. I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to get it in time, but the previous people left just in time and I was camped out waiting," she tells Warren.

Kitty turns to the winged mutant to say, "And I promised her dinner some night, with a soak in the hot tub, if that's ok. You don't have to cook," she tells Warren, but then adds to Becky, "But we totally want him to because he's a good cook." She looks back to Warren, giving him an impish grin at that.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren glances between Becky and Kitty and chuckles, "Fair enough. You are more than welcome to come on over whenever to collect and I will cook. I'll even put a bathing suit on for the hot tub." Warren winks, an impish grin on his face as he moves to pull out a chair for Kitty before reaching into his pocket and pulling out his money clip, pulling a bill off of it to try and pass it over towards Becky, "You have yourself a good evening, Becky. At least let me compensate for the effort."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Becky's body language says she's going to turn it down, but Kitty says, "Take it Becks, or else he's going to fret all evening," she says, though her expression when she glances at Warren makes it teasing. But the joke is enough to make Becky reluctantly accept it. "Ok. You two enjoy your dinner. And thanks for the help with my website, Kitty," she says, waving to them and heading on out.

Kitty smiles to Warren and explains, "She has her own start up business. Sells arts and crafts. I helped her get a site up and going for it."

She glances at the sign and then to Warren. "So... one of us will need to hold the table as it is in high demand usually. Want to go get us food, since I know what I want and that way you can take your time and look?" The ordering areas go around the outside of the room on one side, so someone can walk along and see their choices.

If Warren indicates that is amenable to him, Kitty says, I'll get pastrami and salami, on a roll, with the spicy mustard and cheese. And a Dr. Pepper."

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren nods to Kitty, "Sure. I'll go get the food. I'll be back as soon as I can. This place is busy!" Warren glances over at the line, "I've fought Erik, I can handle a line of people.." he mutters, mostly to himself before he chuckles and starts for the end.

Later he finally returns with Kitty's order, and a Ruben for himself with a water. He sets the tray of food down onto the table and takes his seat, "It's a damn good thing that this isn't going to go to my waistline, because this is a lot of food!"

"So, Harry met Sally huh? Are you planning on faking anything while we are here? Should I get out a camera?"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
As Warren is getting the food, Kitty rests her elbows on the table, hands together and her chin on her hands. She just watches Warren, smiling as he gets in the line and talks to the very New York staff working behind the counter. She lets out a soft, happy sigh as she watches him, until finally when he turns back with a tray, and her happily oggling him will probably have been spotted.

She sits up straighter as he returns, reaching out to help take the drinks off the tray to lighten it as he gets their food settled. The Jewish girl breaks out in a warm laugh at Warren's comment and she leans closer to him as she lowers her voice. "I've never had to fake anything with you, I doubt that is likely to change," she tells him.

She reaches over and slides her hand into his once Warren is seated. Curling her fingers about his and giving a light squeeze. "I always loved that movie and just wanted to share this with you," she tells him, smiling across the table to him.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Seeing Kitty watching him as he heads back towards the table, Warren winks at her before he sits.

"Well, that's good. Because if you did, you're damn good at it. Missed your calling as an actress."

He gives her hand a squeeze in return, picking up a pickle with his other to take a bite, "I've honestly never seen it. I just know the one scene, because who doesn't know that one scene? It's iconic, much like the speech in Godfather or the boat line from Jaws. We will have to watch it sometime."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
A gasp is heard that draws a few other people to look over. Maybe they think she's going to reenact the scene. Though Kitty looks over at one and stage whispers loudly, "He's never seen the whole movie!"

The woman Kitty said this to has dark hair and glasses, looks in her forties. "Oy, you should see the movie!" she says with about as stereotyped of a Jewish accent as one could imagine. She leans over to the other woman she's eating with, "He hasn't seen the whole movie," she shares.

"Not the whole movie?" that second woman asks. She looks to Warren. "You should see the movie."

Kitty's grinning so big her cheeks look near to bursting and she squeezes his hand again before letting it go so Warren can eat. "We'll definitely have to watch is this week," she tells him.

Kitty takes up half of her sandwich, taking a bite and leaving some spicy muster on the corner of her mouth after. She picks it up with her pinky and sucks it off. "It is iconic," she agrees. "And now I'll admit... I don't think I've ever seen Jaws. Not all of it. Maybe I've seen the whole movie just spread out over many partial viewings, and non-sequential."

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren looks around as Kitty lets out that gasp, hand moving to the side of his face in one of those 'Oh god' type of gestures as he tries to make himself a little less visible, as if a guy with 6 foot wings protruding from his back can hide while sitting at a deli. He chuckles, shaking his head and waving a hand dismissively, "Yes, yes...I will watch it. I promise."

He playfully glares at Kitty, sticking his tongue out at her before he brings his ruben up to his lips to take a bite, some of the Russian dressing clinging to his lips before he cleans them with a napkin. "You haven't seen Jaws? Somehow I don't think that would garner the same reaction in this place if I went and blurted that out...but that is another piece of film history, though I could see it may not be for everyone." He shrugs.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
"I don't know that it's that I wouldn't like it. Just I've never sat down at the start of it where I had time to watch. But then I've seen enough bits of it I feel like I kind of know the movie already," Kitty tells Warren.

She takes another bite of her sandwich, then after she's swallowed that, a bite of her pickle. "Mmm," she says as she gets the bite of the kosher dill. "They do have great food too," she comments. "But it's fun to get the table. Usually you don't luck out though. So I sent Becks ahead to make sure you could get it for your first time here."

An older couple walk past with their food. The woman pauses while she lets her husband move ahead to a table out of earshot. She says, to the table of the two other women that Kitty spoke to earlier, "I'll have what she's having," the woman says, though her eyes go to Warren, looking the handsome, blond, muscular mutant over openly. Then she looks to Kitty, flashing the younger woman a grin. "And the food doesn't look bad either," she adds before moving off to rejoin her husband. And leaving Kitty laughing and nearly choking on her bite of pickle.

Warren Worthington has posed:
"Well we will have to add that to the list of films to watch," Warren says with a nod. "We will just have to get a list going of films to watch."

Warren is in the middle of another bite when the couple walks past, letting out a bit of a laugh that is muted by his full mouth as he glances over at the older woman and giving her a flirtatious wink before he turns to look at Kitty once the woman wanders off, "Admit it, you just did this to show off. You just wanted to be seen with someone of my stature out in public, and rub it in people's face that you managed to grab hold of someone like me," he says with a wink and a grin as he dabs a bit of Russian dressing off of his sandwich and makes to smear it on the end of Kitty's nose. "Don't think I don't see past this ruse, Pryde."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
More warm laughter breaks out at Warren's accusations. And the dab of dressing on her nose. Kitty tries to look at it which leaves her looking a little comically cross-eyed as she does. She wipes it off and tells him. "I absolutely love showing you off," she admits. "I'm the luckiest girl in the city and I want everyone to know it," Kitty tells him.

Her eyes shine across the table at her boyfriend. "I feel like we've been together forever with how I feel about you. How comfortable everything is. Yet at the same time you end up making me feel like a blushing schoolgirl half the time," she says, adding more warm chuckles.

She lets out a soft, happy sigh. She mouths two words rather than saying them. An emotion and a pronoun, but even if Warren failed to catch them, he could read them from her eyes alone.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren Worthington grins, "See, I knew it." He winks again, a laughing smile on his face as he goes back to eating his sandwich. "I think I am pretty lucky, too, you know. It's not every guy that has a girl like you attached to his arm. Blushing or not."

"Good, I'm glad I make you feel like that. It's damn sexy when you blush. I'm sure when we cash in that Valentine's day gift of yours you won't be the only one blushing, either."

He grins, looking over at her as she mouths the words and Warren stands slightly to lean over the table, giving her a soft kiss on the lips before he sits back down with a new decoration of a dab of dressing on his shirt where it fell into the plate. "I love you, too, Kate."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde's heart beats a little faster after that sweet, gentle kiss. She shines a beautiful smile across the table at Warren, truly counting her blessings. He's probably heard her mumbling soft prayers at times before bed. And sometimes she's opened her eyes at the end, and the smile that was there for him was a ready one, as if following on what she'd just been praying about.

Another bite of the sandwich is taken, Kitty savoring the mix of the meats and mustard and cheese. She lets out a happy sigh. "Looking forward to doing that," she says of the Valentine's day gift. And maybe there's just a small bit of color that enters her cheeks thinking about it, so Warren is probably right there.

She takes a sip of her soda and lets out another contented sigh. "Anywhere you'd like to go after we finish?" she asks.

Warren Worthington has posed:
"So am I," says Warren as he grins over at Kitty, a slight waggle of his brow and a little rowar escapes that is barely heard at the table over the busyness of the deli. "I'm sure we will both end up enjoying that day."

Warren takes another bite of his sandwich, noticing and dabbing at the dressing that got onto his shirt for a moment before he gives up with a shrug, "I'm just happy spending the time with you, Kate. We can go for a walk, or a flight, or we can just go home and enjoy the hot tub. I'm easy. Besides, this is your date night, I should let you pick where we go form here."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty hmms quietly as she considers their options. "How about a little walk through the city? Just a chance to get out and walk when we don't have anywhere particular we have to be? And when we get tired of that we can fly back home," she says.

Kitty dips her sandwich in a spot of spicy mustard that leaked from her sandwich onto the plate. "The hot tub sounds good. Or you could lay by the fire and I could give you a massage." The way her hazel eyes sparkle, it seems like doing that would be as much for her benefit as his.

"Is it silly that I just enjoy moments of normal life like this? Having a sandwich together. And even if it's a special table this time, it's just... sharing things with you like this," she says, She looks down. "Ok now I feel like the lovestruck schoolgirl, saying that. It's just... I've never had this before. This... sharing lives. All the normal parts of life and not just... dates or dances or balls aboard a Shia'ar royal cruiser. The stuff everyone else does." Her eyes twinkle more.

Warren Worthington has posed:
"Sure, that sounds lovely," Warren says as he finishes off his sandwich, licking a bit of dressing off the end of his finger. "It's a nice night out, so as long as you are dressed warm enough for it. If you get cold, let me know and I can get us home."

He pushes his plate away, leaning back in his chair and folding his arms as he grins over the table at Kitty, "Though I wonder if I should make you embarrass yourself by recreating that scene before we leave. Isn't that a rite of passage to be able to sit here or something? I'm sure there has to be a rule about it somewhere."

Warren shakes his head, "No? Why would that be silly? This is what life is? Moments like these. Hell, we only get so many of them in a lifetime we better enjoy the ones we get, right?"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
More warm laughter sounds, and despite the earlier blush, there isn't one about this. "Oh, don't think I won't. I've done it before, here," she says. "Loses a little bit of the embarrassment when people know it's from the movie," she says, laughing. "Though I think if you're going to hear that tonight you're going to have to earn it, Mr. Worthington," Kitty teases.

She finishes the last bite of her sandwich, popping the little bit into her mouth and then wiping her fingers on the napkin. "We might as well let someone else have it," she says of the table. "And yes. I guess we have enough crazy in our lives that simple, sweet moments like this are just all the more special," she says, rising from her chair. There are indeed other people watching, ready to hurry over and nab the table.

Kitty moves over to Warren, waiting for him to stand and then giving him a long hug. "I love you," she tells him, going up on her toes to kiss him softly.

Warren Worthington has posed:
Well, if she isn't going to do it...he is. Warren starts with the low moans, then progressively gets louder and louder as he starts to bang on the table, tossing his head back with a symphony of 'Yes' and 'Oh God's falling forth from his lips as he simulates the scene from the movie as best he can from memory, standing up at the 'climax' of his performance and wiping his mouth with his napkin like nothing happened.

"Love you, too. Let's go."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
The women in the room give Warren an ovation as he finishes. A few of them fan themselves, and one woman of about 50 dangles a dollar bill his way as he walks past.

Kitty laughs and slides her arm about his waist. "Now I'm the one who is going to wonder if you've been faking," she teases as she rests her head against his shoulder, and they walk out into the night.
