A meeting of the Reds
Date of Scene: 24 February 2021
Location: Bushwick <Mutant Town>
Synopsis: NEw people meet, and the Minivan is sent in for repairs.
Cast of Characters: Albert Rothstein, Rahne Sinclair, Jake Gomez

Albert Rothstein has posed:
Albert Rothstein has a friend who lives out this way and was having some issues so Albert came out to help. His '70 Mercury Cougar is parked in front of an 90s model mini van. Albert is pulling out some ramps to help lift the car up off the ground some. The big man seems to be going to do some work on one of the cars there in the street. He has the mohawk pulled back in a pony tail out of the way while in his civis

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
A Friday night is one of those rare times Rahne feels alright to head out for the evening. Though reluctantly, she did so by herself. For all she loves her home, she needed some fresh air, though she's only so brave as to hit up the milkshake place and spend an hour people watching through the windows. With night well set and the store getting towards closing time, she deposits her trash in the receptacle and heads out into the cold. She pulls her wool-lined plaid coat in tighter around her and shivers.

"Ach, why ya be thinkin' winter's a'gran time to get ice cream?" She mutters to herself as she pulls out her phone to see about organizing a ride back to Westchester. The self-chastising continues with a sighed, "Fool girl."

Albert Rothstein has posed:
Albert Rothstein will look over to the girl, and nods a greeting to her. He notices her muttering to herself "You ok miss?" He will ask her. Once he has the ramps in place, he will move to the front of the mini van grab the bumper and with a bit of a grunt and some strain showing he picks the front end of the van up, and steps back till he has it on the stands and secure.

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
There's a quick jolt from the young redhead as her head jerks up, giving the impression of a spooked animal with her eyes wide and showing a good deal of white against the green core.

"Oh! No! No no, no. Ah mean, ahm fin', really. Jus' doin' a wee bit of whinin' to m'self. Sorry, ah dinnae mean to be wo--rrin.... ya..."

Those eyes don't shrink as she stares at what he's doing, only to quickly look away as if not to be caught staring. "Tha'some strength ya be havin'."

Albert Rothstein has posed:
Albert Rothstein looks over and offers a smile "Yea, it comes with the size I think, It does come in handy when working on cars. No need to be worried about me miss, I might look a bit scary at times, but I try to be more scary to those who are trying to scare others." He will pop the hood on the mini van and looks inside it a moment "You from around here, I come here now and again, but not quite a regular, don't think I had noticed ya about."

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
"Ahm knowin some a'the sentiment." Rahne says with a sympathetic tone, though it ends in a quiet cough as she adds quickly. "Ah have some friends who feel the same."

Question of her being from here has her giving a wave of her hand to her surroundings. "Big 'nough place, here. Tisn't hard for ah church mouse ta not be noticed."

"I visit." She does end up clarifying with her hand now gesturing towards the creamery. "M'from close, but the milkshakes are worth the trip."

Albert Rothstein has posed:
Albert Rothstein looks over and offers a smile and says "A pretty girl, with red hair, and an great sounding accent? I bet your a lot harder to miss than you think." He offers her a grin and says "May have to try some of their milkshakes after I get this van running." He looks into the van's engine and sigh a bit "If I get it fixed before they close." He says with a hmms looking into the engine compartment.

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
The compliments just seem to make Rahne shrink further into her coat as she self-consciously tugs the hood of her plaid jacket over her short hair. She seems to prefer not being noticed at all with a reaction like that.

"Well, ah don' think that van's goin anywhere." She points out to the hoisted vehicle before offering with a soft but friendly smile. "My ride tisn't here yet. Ah could watch it if ya wanna go in 'fore they close. T'wouln't take but a tick."

Albert Rothstein has posed:
Albert Rothstein hmms and says "I appreciate it, but think if I am going to do a milk shake would want to sit and eat it in there, and if I do that probably would be here working on the van a lot later than I want to be, thanks though." He will get down on the ground and slide under the van "Your welcome to stay around here till your ride gets here if ya want, less people likely to try to mess with you if your around others."

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
"Fair put." Rahne remarks to him electing responsibility over frozen treats, which has her scratching then at the back of the neck in a subconsciously guilty gesture as she chose the exact opposite. Pride and pistachio leads to penance.

"Surely will." She says quietly to the offer to hang within conversing distance. "Ah'd be a pain ta find if I wandered. Ah wouln't bother ya, tho. Don' wanna slow up the work." She does, however, watch with curiosity as he gets to said work. She was never one for the grease monkey life.

Jake Gomez has posed:
A young man of Native descent is seen jogging down the sidewalk in a pair of swishy workout shorts and a tanktop. His long black hair is drawn into a single braid that hangs at his back. In his hands is a pair of weights that he uses to pump his arms. His black shirt is soaked in sweat as he breathes steadily.

He doesn't seem to mind the cold weather at all. Perhaps he just has thick skin. In his ears is a pair of older headphones attached to a small, cheap MP3 player.

Albert Rothstein has posed:
Albert Rothstein looks over from under the van at Rahne's ankles. "Talking aint going to slow me down, I have been working on motors since I was a kid, I can easily do it an talk. "By the way, I am Albert." He offers her his name and he reaches around trying to find a pan that is just out of reach of his hand.

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
Rahne Sinclair keeps her spot on the curb and just watching, though as introductions are offered she gives a quick, "Rahne, like what falls from th'sky. Glad tae meet ye, Ahlbert." Her accent gives his name a different flow, but it's easy enough to make out.

With most people either being where they plan to hole up for the night or leaving to head home, there's a lot of faces to look at. One in particular, however, seem to catch Rahne's eye. She regards Jake with the faintest cock of her head, like she'd maybe seen him before but maybe wasn't sure she had.

Jake Gomez has posed:
As he jogs, Jake reaches up to wipe the sweat from his brow with the back of his arm in one fluid movement. He moves quickly, like a wildcat in the middle of the city. As he spies the car that seems to have been broken down, followed by the young woman with the red hair, he slowly trots to a stop, then reaches down to his hip to tap the music off. As he peels the headphones back, he looks over to Rahne, then to the car and the man under it.

"Is everything okay?" He asks in a thick accented voice as his round dark eyes move back towards the girl. "I know my way around cars."

Albert Rothstein has posed:
Albert Rothstein smiles a bit and from under the car, he cans "If you can hand me that pan out there, I could use that help. A friend asked me to look at the minivan here, and going to need to drain the oil before I start." He offers to those above ankle level. His own '70 Cougar is parked nearby with the trunk open, some car parts seen in it.

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
"Tisn't mine." Rahne offers up as if that bit of info was necessary on the tail of Albert explaining what was going on. Her eyes divert away from the approaching Jake, not meeting his eyes once he's closer and saying off to one side. "Ahm just waitin' for a ride."

The request for a pan makes her look down to her feet and the sidewalk, and her lips press into a tight line as she tries to discern what is what. She only knows one kind of pan, so she aims for the item that vaguely resembles bakeware as an educated guess. "This it?"

Jake Gomez has posed:
As he heads over towards them, Jake peels out of his tanktop to reveal his upperbody. He's cut lean of pure tight muscle, with a large tattoo of a howling wolf across his back that covers most of his skin. The design is in Native American styles and bright colors. As he tucks the shirt into the back of his pants, he reaches down to pick up the pan, but his hand stops short as Rahne reaches for it as well.

He offers her a smile as he leans back up, retreiving his hand away from hers. "Have you been waiting long? I could call a cab for you if the weather is bothering you."

Albert Rothstein has posed:
Albert Rothstein will reach out and takes the pan "Thanks." He offers, and gets it set in the right spot, and the screw releases the oil from the oil pan. He hmms "Ok, that is not good." He says as he slides out and moves to stand back up. The giant of a man looks over a brow raised a bit at the guy with no shirt in this weather. "Um, Hey," He greets him.

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
There's reasons Rahne generally doesn't go out on her own. It's intimidating. Giants complimenting her. A shirtless man in entirely close proximity to be anywhere near decent. It causes Rahne to blush ferociously and pointedly *not* look at him. "Och! No, no! Tis quite alright, thank ye. I've a ride comin'." She quickly says to Jake, trying valiantly to be polite and not stare. There's is, however, a very tiny spark of delight on Rahne's face as she makes the right guess about the pan. "Jus' been here a few minutes, dinnae yeh fret."

Jake Gomez has posed:
Tilting his head up at the height of Albert, Jake takes him in for a moment and gives him a nod of his head. "What is not good?" He asks in regards to the car. Folding his arms over the top of his chest, he gives another glance over towards Rahne for a moment, watching her shy antics. He keeps an even face about him.

"Alright. As long as you're safe and not too cold. Usually I bring a jacket with me on these runs but I wanted to feel the cold air against my skin. I would have offered it to you."

Albert Rothstein has posed:
Albert Rothstein looks over and says "Oil is think and looks a bit burnt, lookin more like going to need more repairs than they were counting on. I should be able to get her up and running, but I think will be more a get it running for them to bring it out to the garage, and then maybe dropping a new engine in it."

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
"M'fine." Rahne says quietly, hoping her smile is reassuring enough. Sidelong as it is. "If ah kinnae handle a bit o'wet and cold, mah kin - the Lord keep their souls - may up'n disownin me." They may do it anyway, but she doesn't let her thoughts dwell on that. Strangers certainly don't need to hear about it either. Who'd believe such silliness?

"Tch, shame 'bout the car. Fickle beasties. Least mebbe it'll work well enough to get 'em home. Safe n'soun's the important thin'." Speaking of, her eyes do look up and down the road. Her ride should be here any minute.

Jake Gomez has posed:
"That sounds like a lot of work and a lot of money." Jake says in regards to the shape of the car. He keeps his arms crossed over his chest as the drizzle falls down upon his head and body, relishing in the feel of the cool kiss of temperture. He draws in a deep breath, then lets it out slowly. Plucking the shirt off his pants, he uses it to wipe his face off, then pulls his long braid over his shoulder to wipe it off as well. Long hair gets heavy.

"I hope your ride does come soon. This area isn't always safe at night. I jog this path every day and there has been some interesting situations I have ran across." He tilts his head toward Albert. "You live near here?"

Albert Rothstein has posed:
Albert Rothstein shakes his head and says "Na, across the river, but got some friends who live in the area, and told me about these folks who needed a hand, and I offered to help them. It will be more than hoping, but I will rebuild what I can and only replace what I have to. It is an old enough model might be able to find some of what need in junk yards nearby.

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
"Och, I mae be a wee slip of a lass, but ah kin handle some trouble." Rahne clicks at Jake like a chiding grandmother, as if the shy girl was somehow unbothered by the risk of unsavories in the dark. "Dinnae ya worry, boyo. Tisn't a world for a lass who kinnae protect 'erself."

Her smile is calm and placid as she steps up to the edge of the curb and reaches out to give the side of the van the gentlest of pats, like she was talking to a swaybacked old nag as opposed to a broken down vehicle. "Ye may be an auld lass, but dinnae let them tell ye that yer done. Yer people still need ye."

Jake Gomez has posed:
Nodding his head, Jake pulls his headphones back over his head, then reaches into his pocket to take out the cheap MP3 player. It looks like an original iPod Shuffle. Like a stick of chewing gum. "Okay. I'll be on my way then. Was nice meeting you both. I'm Jake." He offers them both a smile before he starts slowly off with a push of his foot, shifting his hand weights back into place proper.

"Take care, red." He calls over to Rahne with a small smile before he starts down the sidewalk at his lazy jogging pace. "Good luck with the car!"

Albert Rothstein has posed:
Albert Rothstein says "Good to meet you" and as Jake heads he smirks and looks to Rahne and jokes "Think your Red, or Me?" He asks her with a smile. He nods and gives Jake a wave, and then grabs a tool, to start loosing something in the engine "Aint nothing wrong with an old car. You can see from mine I like them." He says.

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
"Rahne." Replies the young woman to Jake as he takes his leave, glancing to his departing form over her shoulder once he's passed by. Nope. Still shirtless, it seems. Her brows do lift slightly at the tattoo now that she spots it. "Nice ink!" She blurts out, before seeming to develop a quick cough as she tucks her face into her elbow. She's certainly not muttering to herself with the mask of fabric to hide it.

"...oh bless, m'ride." She sighs with relief as a black car slows and pulls up just a few feet down.

"Best a'luck to ye, Alberht. Hope ye kin catch a shake on yer next trip. G'night!" She bids him before quickly jogging over to the car and getting in, before she says more foolish things.
