Shooting The Breeze
Date of Scene: 28 February 2021
Location: Main Room - Titan's Tower
Synopsis: Bart comes to Terry for some advice. Shut up, Gar!
Cast of Characters: Terry O'Neil, Bart Allen

Terry O'Neil has posed:
It was pretty quiet for a Saturday afternoon, all things considered. The Cheshire cat was working at the dining table, tapping away on his laptop, a soda and a sandwich on a plate next to him.

While Gar was off taking care of some promotional event or another, Vorpal decided to do a bit of catch-up on stuff for the Planet. His backlog had barely been used at all, and he wanted to keep it that way in the event that he needed to take days off. These days, he was spending time either at the Planet or using his powers of illusion to make people believe the Kryptonians were still around. So, taking a few hours for himself was a welcome respite.

Taking a sip from his soda, he says to himself "I hope they're not away for too long. One of these days we're going to get a major crisis and illusions won't cut it..."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen has come towards the tower looking for someone. The first tell of one of the speedsters being here maybe the draft passes through and heads towards the living quarters, but not finding Wally there, Bart comes back and into the living area, and then the dinning area looking for people "Oh Hey Terry, your one of the people I was looking for." He moves to have a seat, barely resisting the urge to stop and read over Vorpal's shoulder.

Terry O'Neil has posed:
"Hey Bart!" the Cheshire calls out, brightening up and setting down his soda. "You're looking for me? Okay- before you say anything, I want you to know that anything Cait might say about me exhausting the soda supply while working on my articles is a total falsehood."

"... Garfield drank some, too." He pushes the laptop to the side and leans on the table, crossing his arms, "What can I do ya for?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen smiles and says "Oh it is nothing about soda, well maybe a little as I am sure we will have soda, but I don't think soda will come into play unless, she is like I'm a Coke person, your a Pepsi person, how can we get along, what will Dr. Pepper say." He smiles a bit and says "I was actually wondering if you might be able to help me out, give me a bit of advice."

Terry O'Neil has posed:
Blinking a few times, Vorpal tilts his head, "Oh, people usually don't come to me for advice. I should look the part!" With a flick of his wrist, his illusion powers kick in and the Cheshire cat is suddenly clad in a sweater, tweed pants, glasses, and he holds a pipe in his hand. He blows on it, and bubbles float out.

"Alright, Bart, I'm all ears! What can I help you with, buddy?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over to him, and chuckles a bit and says "Well, you and Garfield are a great couple, and I have well sorta met this girl, and need help planning a nice date for her. She is nice, and cute, and likes video games, horror movies, and has super speed, but only from like the waist up." He comments describing the girl "She is fun to be around, and seems to like me, but thinks I might not like her as I get to know her, but I like her enough I want to get to know her.

Terry O'Neil has posed:
"Oh, that's pretty cool, Bart! Another speedster! Is she in the 'business', or is she leading a private life?"

He leans back on his chair, puffing on his pipe, "Tell me a little of how you met, and what her personality is like a little bit more in detail. If I'm going to Cyrano this thing up, I need to know what beats to hit for optimal good impressions!"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over and says "I don't think she is in the business, she has to wear braces on her legs to walk, and I have only ever heard of one hero like that, and she is African american, where Madigan is Irish. She is really smart she is like my age and working on her PHD in genetics. We met at an Arcade in Starling city, playing Mortal Kombat 4. She was trash talking and kicking everyone's butt. I played her and she beat me, but saw she was moving her hands faster than normal, and we played again, and I beat her, and we tried a third time, but we sorta got carried away and the machine could not keep up, and glitched and rebooted."

Terry O'Neil has posed:
Vorpal chuckles at this, "Okay! So we may have found someone else who might be capable of giving Gar and Vic a run for their money. We'll need to schedule a game night-- but, more importantly: since she's smart and observant, she probably know you're a speedster too. Does she know you're the dashing dasher in red and white, or does she think you're just another speedy kid? I'm asking these questions for a purpose, trust me."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks to her "She knows I am a speedster, but not that I am a hero, mind you she might think so, as I told her about freeing the chickens from the dumplin shop. She did admit, she is not as into animals as much as I am, or worrying about others as much either. I think she might be a bit bitter for how people treat her cause of the braces." He hmms and says "We ate at the arcade, and she eats like the rest of us speedsters too. I gave her first taste of running at super speeds when I dropped her off at her place. I am going to have to make a second rickshaw, one a little less in my colors I think."

Terry O'Neil has posed:
"Okay, very high metabolism. Important to know. Prodigious appetite. She also loves video games."

Vorpal taptaps a claw on the table, and strokes his chin, "Okay, I'm starting to see some possibilities here. Now, you like this girl and want to see how things go. But you want something that's casual and fun without seeming /too/ serious. You want to give her an enjoyable time, and see if she enjoys your company some more..."

He grins, "It just so happens that I know the right place for the date. But let's dig a little deeper... do you want this to be a multi-tiered date? Like, food and a movie, or do you want to leave that for date three?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen hmms and says "Well it is supposed to be at least dinner, and we were talking about keeping it to new york preferable, as thats where she is from. She does like movies, horror and cheesy zombie movies were the ones she mentioned. I want this date to be good to get to know her, and make sure she has fun. The last time I went on a date, " He looks about to make sure it is just them "Siobhan, and I had an ok time, but was never anything more than friends."

Terry O'Neil has posed:
Vorpal taps his chin. "Okay. I think I've got a rough draft of the thing... but one last thing- do you have an idea of what other interests she might have? She's a scholarly type... do you know if she is an avid reader? Some sort of thing of that sort... if she's talked about her interests, it's always good to show that you've listened."

"And I imagine you'd create your new rickshaw pretty quickly, right? We can include it into the date plan, if you're game."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods, and says "I mentioned it when we were talking about going places, so she could feel speed, but that was before I carried her harm. So far it has just been movies, games, and genetics. She doesn't think her uncle will like me. He treats her like his precious princess, she said. She likes people and talking to them.

Terry O'Neil has posed:
"Okay! So this is what I'm figuring."

The Cheshire cat waves his hand over the table, and a little storybook pop-up building appears, with "CINEMA" written across its paper marquee. "I suggest starting with the movie- pick one of the ones that she likes. Either one that has great reviews, or abysmal ones of the kind 'it's so bad it's funny'... either one will provide ample conversation fodder... for the dinner. See? I'm inverting the 'Dinner and a Movie' thing because when people do it the other way around, they do it so that they can hold hands during the movie or do the 'arm over the shoulder' thing. Here, we're starting the evening with the movie as the icebreaker and the dinner as the getting to know you part, which is a lot more casual."

He snaps his fingers, "Then, you bring your rickshaw in, and all gallant-like you take her to the dinner site... over in Metropolis."

Another thing pops up, a pizzeria. "Behold, Giorgio's... it's a treasure trove of nostalgia. Not only does it have the best Pizza this side of Saint Martin's, but it also has arcade cabinets, gaming memorabilia, and all sorts of cool things like movie props and signed autographs. Voila! What do you think?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen hmms and says "We were talking about keeping it to New York, but I might be able to talk her into Metropolis, it aint that far away, so might work. The place sounds like a good pick though, games, and movies together sounds like a easy yea. Good food on top of it. Will they look at us odd, for ordering three or four large pizzas?

Terry O'Neil has posed:
"Bart, I go there with Gar all the time, and Caitlin and Vic have come along at times. The place practically caters to metas with huge appetites." The cat grins, "They won't even blink. What's more, you might end up in their Wall of Fame. Just... don't go there as Impulse because if you end up in the Wall Of Fame twice, with photos side by side, someone might be able to figure out your identity." He grins, "Especially with the hair. It's very distinctive."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods, and says "It is a bit of a family trait, and the eyes might give it away more than the hair. She has red hair too, but her eyes are blue. She thinks I am a dork, but a cute dork, and I made her laugh a couple of times. He nods his head a bit and says "I will need to find something nice to wear, but not to nice I think,"

Terry O'Neil has posed:
Vorpal hms, narrowing his eyes. And then he snaps his fingers. Bart's appearance changes to a nice button-up shirt, jeans and sneakers. "Okay, so I'm thinking you want something to bring out your eyes, so..." the shirt slowly changes color, to a nice mustard color. "Something like this. If you want to be more informal, you can make it a short sleeved button-up, so you get the best of both worlds. What do you think?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen stands up, and runs back and forth quickly enough so there is two of him, so he can see how he looks better. "Hmm, you think I should wear maybe some shoes with some kind of game logo on them or something so I am sorta repping my dorkness?"

Terry O'Neil has posed:
"I don't see why not! If you've got something, flaunt it! Maybe one of those Mortal Kombat sneakers that went on the market a few years ago? Might be worth looking into them. Might be hard to get, though..." the Cheshire cat hmms. "A triforce pin always works, too."

He takes a sip from his soda. "So! I think that covers all the basics. Anything else I can give you advice on?" he grins.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen hmms and says "Not that I can think of at least yet, I mean, I want it to go well, and know from the way she talks she probably has run it through her head a few times. I would love to find a way to make it a good surprise for her.

Terry O'Neil has posed:
Vorpal nods, "Alright, I suggest keeping the pizzeria a secret, just tell her that it's in Metro and that it's a pretty cool place. I think that once she sees it, she'll get a kick out of it." He reaches for his laptop. "How long before you ask her out? We might be able to brainstorm a little extra for added effect, but I do need to finish this for Lois' deadline before six. But maybe we can hang out afterwards!"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods, and says "I am thinking this coming up weekend, but was going to text her tomorrow, and see how she is doing and maybe start talking about when she might want to go out for sure. But thanks, I will let you get back to your writing if you ever need something typed up let me know."
