Always Look on the Bright Side of Life
Date of Scene: 09 March 2021
Location: Cafe Lalo
Synopsis: Welcome back Morrigan! Happy Harbor gets a new faculty member.
Cast of Characters: Michael Hannigan, Hank Pym, Morrigan MacIntyre

Michael Hannigan has posed:
It is a bit breezy out. Which, may be why the windows at Cafe Lalo are closed. Close or not, the tables near the windows are taken. Did Mike acquire one of these highly in demand seats? Nope. He ended up getting a table to the far back, providing a lovely view of the inside of the cafe and all those who may walk nearby on their way to the restroom. Oh well. That's what happens when you come near the end of the lunch hour.

The musician is quiet, looking through the same worn book he had when Hank swung by the condo last. Based from the positioning of the pages, he's nearing the end.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym enters bearing a very anachronistic newspaper under one arm. He's wearing a skully pulled down over his ears. A forty year-old wearing a young man's hat and a trench coat. He frowns at the crowds. Social anxiety is not his major issue, but it is there. He takes a deep breath standing on the doorstep. Then sees the musician in the back. He hesitates another moment, then has to step aside to let people out. He sighs, stuck there. He's not nearly out of his low cycle of BPD. This is what you get. If he spotted a supervillain in there, it'd be way different.

Hank stands there slapping his newspaper into his hand.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
A hot tea is set down in front of Mike. Glancing up, he gives a smile of thanks to the server. The movement of the eye does allow for him to catch the figure trapped in the doorway. Turning his head, he looks to Hank directly. Lifting up his free hand, he gives a wave of greeting.

Hank Pym has posed:
What was it someone said to Hank not too long ago? Sometimes the hardest battle you face is with yourself. For the life of him the last few days are a blur. Near death, rebirth. Completing projects. Staying busy. He raises an eyebrow at the hand wave and steps in.

No one notices.

As he remarked before, he's a pear in a room full of apples. He walks to Mike's table and sits down, wiping his upper lip with a napkin. He doffs his coat and keeps the skully on.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
As Hank breaks the unseen barrier to make his way over to the table, Mike lowers his hand. He's quiet until the Doctor seats himself. "Hey Hank. How was your weekend?"

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym ponders it a moment. "It was a weekend. People speak of their near death and rebirth in mystical terms and... it was a weekend. I still have my problems. Dying is no longer one of them. I'm still trying to make it one day at a time. I knocked the bugs out of the serum that I used. You and your colleagues were very handy. I got feedback on how it was killing me and adjusted it. I'm... Nadia used to yeet me into a crowded room. I don't see her much these days. I tried to call Saeko to no avail. Life sucks. I guess that is my normal. Yourself?"

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Mike tilts his head forward, setting the book down on the table as he listens in. He gives a slight nod. "Wade made me take a break from work. I went to the zoo. Heard a random comment that was so unexpected and off the wall I choked on my coffee."

He looks to the coffee before him. "Despite that, it's not stopping me from drinking more of it. Stubborn like that."

He lifts up his coffee to take a sip before setting it down. "So, that's a lot of stuff for a weekend. Do I need to pull a Wade on you and tell you to take a break?"

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
It's a treat yourself day. Or at least it's time for stopping and getting some kind of food for one Doctor Morrigan MacIntyre. There's a moment taken to stop just inside the door and remove her sunglasses, which probably get odd looks, but light sensitivity exists. She stores them away in a pocket of her coat and then runs nimble fingers through her wind blown hair to tame it a bit. She offers a smile to the hostess and shakes her head when she asks if she's waiting on someone, "Just me for the evening." she tells her as her accent thickens a bit. Then she follows her towards a seat, which happens to be in the same area as Mike and Hank.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym has a passing knowledge of Dr. Morrigan. Vivian goes to her school and of course anything about that school on the internet will have been sought out. He also asked several ants about it. The hair is quite impressive. the sunglasses noted and yes, light sensitivity would be a trait of someone with violet eyes. Ever the gentleman, Hank gets up and being an old school type removes the skully that seemed glued in place, despite his doffing the coat. "Dr. McIntyre, over here. Hank Pym, Vivian's... mentor... "

As he turns to her, Mike will note a freshly inserted stud earring in Hank's ear.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Detecting a little bit of Irish to someone's speech, Mike glances over to the source. Making note of the red head, he tilts his head curiously. There's a slight feeling of familiarity to the back of his mind. But the glint of light reflecting off of Hank's ear combined with the elder man speaking draws his attention away. A brow raises at the earring but he bites his lip. Something to ask about when not in public most likely. Although, maybe it's part of a midlife crisis? He did nearly die last week.

He blinks, turning to look back over to the female doctor. Lifting a hand he waves to Morrigan. "Mike Hannigan." He offers, "You seem familiar. Have we met?"

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan's eyebrow quirks as someone addresses her and there's just the slightest cant of her head as she looks to Hank, "Doctor Pym, I know of you, yes." she smiles at the man. She speaks a few quiet words with the hostess and then heads towards the table that Mike and Hank are seated at. There is a little wave to Mike, "Mister Hannigan, it is good to see you again." she comments. "We did have coffee with a mouse early last year. Which is not the oddest meeting I've had with others." she muses to that. "I've not seen that mouse again either." she frowns for a second before she gives another smile. "May I?" she asks as she places her hands on the back of one of the empty chairs.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym pulls the chair out in answer. "Certainly. Oh you two know each other? Lovely. I'm glad I encountered you, Doctor, I was going to contact your school about joining in some capacity. I find myself with a bit of free time. My research into some medical matters recently concluded successfully." Translation: I didn't die.

"Maybe I could teach physics or entomology or AI design... scratch that. Biochemistry?"

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Mike leans back in his seat, nodding to the chair Morrigan's inquiring about as Pym vocalizes and acts out the consent.

He pauses, thinking to the key clue of coffee with a mouse. And the places he gets coffee are few. Last year would have been at- "The Coffee Bean." He nods "Right...Just left campus. It wasn't the oddest encounter I've had either."

He grows quiet. He hasn't seen that mouse again since that day either. Whatever did happen to her?

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a smile to Hank, "Thank you." she states as she settles herself into the chair and takes a load off. "I've got boxes to move tonight so wanted to get myself a treat as motivation." she chuckles softly. "A familiar passing, yes." she nods in regards to Mike. Hank's words catch her off guard though, "You could teach whatever you like, Doctor Pym. We don't currently have anyone teaching Biochem so I think some of the children would like that." she admits.

There is a look to Mike and a softer smile, "Aye, there were more than a few oddities that night. One of the people that was there actually works at the school now." she admits. "Come to think of it we have more than a few SHIELD adjacent folks working for the school now." she muses over that.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym smirks, "I alternate between a SHIELD consultant and person of interest. Though sometimes they try very hard to ignore me. I could do biochemistry. That was my first doctorate. I was 14... those were the days. But, I'll follow whatever syllabuses you provide. I haven't taught in years. That was as a grad student in college courses. I'm sure High School is different. Now tell me about this mouse... was it a spirit animal, pooka, uplifted, mouse human mutation? Super evolved?"

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Mike blinks as the topic is brought on to the mouse again. "Uh." He pauses, closing his eyes in thought. "I don't think that came up in the conversation." He admits, "...I do think she said she was staying with others though. So she wasn't by herself then."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a nod to Hank as he speaks, "Given that the school is a SHIELD backed project I'm always happy to have more of their consultants in the area." she comments. "I can get a syllabus and things together over the week. Spring Break is soon and we're going to be going through some changes, hopefully for the better." she admits. "I am unsure what sort of being the mouse was. She just told us her name and things like that. Just one of those little things you happen across that others might not notice." she admits.

There's a nod of agreement with Mike's words, "Yes, she did mention that she had people, so I'm sure she's fine." she smiles to that.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym shugs. "Well what the heck, I talk to ants. I mean I even got my giant ant declared a service animal. Little yellow vest and all that. Thank you doctor... uhm... here's my card. I am not a full time Avenger anymore. LEt me know when the materials are ready. Looking forward to this. I like young people."

Michael Hannigan has posed:
At the affirmation, the frown that was starting to form on Mike's face fades. Not being an educator or with the potential of becoming one, he uses the time the pair are discussing shop to pick up his coffee to have another sip. Eyes observing as the server sets down two menus. One for Hank and the other for Morrigan.

As he enjoys the coffee he does have time to wonder why SHIELD was backing a school. Is there a training program there for new recruits?

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a look to Hank and there's a chuckle, "Apparently you'll be at home. We have a full time Avenger that is our guidance counselor." she tells him. She takes the card that is offered and looks it over before she tucks it away safely. "Is there anything special that you'll need?" she asks him.

Then she looks to Mike, "How have you been doing?" she asks him with a smile.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym toys with his newspaper as he ponders the question. His eyes note one item buried in the third page. He taps it as he ponders, "Mmmm well in all honesty I would prefer to use my own equipment for most things. But it is all portable... when it needs to be." He toys with the paper a little more. "I'd know better when I see the syllabus. I'm sure. UH which Avenger is a guidance counselor?" A little nervous there. Not everyone is sympatico with him. Most are not in fact. If it's Janet...

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Maybe it's got a career focus thing in law enforcement an-

Mike sees Morrigan looking over to him. The cup lowers. "Huh? Uh. Past year's been busy, especially after May." He pauses, mentally going through the events. Trying to pick out which ones he can talk about. "There was a set fire. Miniseries released on Netflix. Released a few songs for fundraising purposes. Some Charity appearances." He pauses. ruling out the stuff of the more mystical variety in the listing. "Hmm. Doesn't seem that much when I list it."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a look over to Hank after she orders her coffee and a death by chocolate piece of cake. "Janet? Umm, no. Sam Wilson. I've not met any others except for Sam and Tony. Tony used to teach for us every so often." she explains. "Using your own equipment is completely understandable." she states.

Her gaze goes back to Mike and she listens to what he's been doing, "That sounds like a lot from my viewpoint." she grins. "I'm hoping to get to more fundraisers this year. I missed a few last year." she sighs softly.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym snorts. "Mike is modest. He does a lot of charitable activities. He contributed a song for a particular relief package. He helps his friends Wade Shaw run his recording company. He is writing and creating. He's a friend to whoever needs one, usually me. With me it's a matter of blah blah blah lab work, blah blah Richards was busy more lab work, blah blah blah lab work with my daughter. Blah blah blah lab work again. Do me some good to get out. Hmmmm benefits. I may have an idea for a benefit... and a field trip. If that is not jumping the gun..."

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Mike looks over to Hank as he snorts, brows raised before Pym piles on more stuff to things that were done. "...Ok. Yes there's that too." He allows.

He considers the mention of a field trip along with the listing of stuff Pym fit in with his case of the blah blah blahs. "...A field trip WOULD allow you the chance to get out." He agrees.
