Date of Scene: 11 March 2021
Location: Chelsea Market
Synopsis: Lunch at Chelsea Market brings various members of the Avengers, SHIELD, and the NYPD together.
Cast of Characters: Steve Rogers, Vision, Achilles, Sara Pezzini, Clint Barton, James Rhodes

Steve Rogers has posed:
Steve Rogers is out in town, wearing a leather jacket over his shirt and jeans. Also, of course, the baseball cap that is his only real means of disguise he employs when he's trying to avoid too much attention. Though it is dubious at best how well that works.

He wanders through Chelsea market, looking to pick something up, prior to meeting others for lunch. "Talk about hard to shop for," he murmurs to himself. "Peggy would have been happy with a hand grenade paperweight," he adds. Though his faint grin suggests he knows she probably wouldn't have.

Steve wanders through store after store. The fact Janet can buy herself anything she wants, far more easily than Steve can, means he just has to find something that will come across as coming from him rather than wowing her with expense.

But what would that be?

He sighs and looks about the area, and starts off in search of where he agreed to meet others for lunch.

Vision has posed:
Having arrived aggressively early for lunch, a holographically disguised Vision sits, occasionally mimes a sip from a drink he has ordered for decoration, and people watches. Individuals, couples, friends, families... little he has not seen before at this point, but he finds each relationship unique and fascinating nonetheless. Some brief window shopping has been attempted, but proved less entertaining than simply watching humans go about their business.

He immediately picks up the Captain's arrival and stands, waving an arm in the air to get the man's attention.

Achilles has posed:
So yeah. Angelo tends to wear long sleeves when he goes out. Mostly because the shiny bronze bracers he wears everywhere would stand out more otherwise. Today it's a simple lightweight button down dress shirt of a lavender/purple color. What? He likes the color. So that and a pair of loose-fit blue jeans. It's spring, not summer right?
Either way, he steps away from a hot dog vendor cart and hands one to Detective Sara Pezzini. "Here you go. Gourmet late lunch or early dinner to celebrate your freedom from that terrible hospital room." he adds with a snarky grin.
The man who loooong ago might have been called the world's first super soldier. I mean like... Trojan War super soldier. Not even in Cap's league. Nope. Not as strong, as fast or... well you get the idea. Not stepping on toes Cap!... But Angelo reaches over to grab one of the two bottles of coca cola he purchased, and holds -it- out to Sara, "Complete with the proper beverage." he adds.

Sara Pezzini has posed:
Was enjoying the market, the people coming and going, the shopping... what woman doesn't love shopping? Sara didn't purchase anything, but the whole act of looking and /maybe/ getting something it what makes it all worth while. She dressed for the season, a long sleeved t-shirt, with a light pleather jacket over it. A pair of blue jeans and comforable running shoes.

"Oh yeah, that hot dog looks /so/ good," she comments, accepting it from Angelo, followed by taking the coke. "This is a proper New York lunch right here."

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint makes his way through the crowd, eyes always open and alert. Between SHIELD and Avengers training, the archer is always aware of his surroundings, because let's face it, a lot of people want to kill him. Some of them even for good reasons. He spots Vision waving, and as one assumes he is using his normal disguise, recognizes his fellow Avenger and heads over that way. He's dressed in his usual.. cargo pants, jean jacket over a gray hoodie, nothing that stands out from the crowd.

As he reaches the table and pulls out a chair, he nods to Vision and greets him with a simple, "Hey, how's it going? Have you been waiting long?"

James Rhodes has posed:
It's a nice day, he needs a new outfit, and he's got some time. James Rhodes is out for a walk himself in the Chelsea Market. He has a bag from a shop in one hand as he saunters along, window shopping for the most part. It's then that he spots a familiar figure waving at someone else. His eyes narrow, and he asks -- perhaps rhetorically -- "Is that Vision?"

The voice in his ear -- today tuned to Friday -- replies, "It does appear so Mr. Rhodes. You should go say hello. Be social." Rhodey for his part rolls his eyes and says, "I AM social." Maybe a bit too empathetically as a couple of nearby teenagers give him a look, like he may have been speaking to no one, and might be a crazy person. Rhodey is used to that though, so he ignores them and starts over in the direction of Vision, before he spots Cap making his way there as well. And Barton. "Did I miss a memo? Were we supposed to be meeting here?" he asks, again, seemingly no one.

Steve Rogers has posed:
Steve sees Vision's wave and it pulls his lips into a soft grin. Something about seeing how human Vision can be just has that effect on him. Hard enough to imagine a mechanical person when he was younger. Even after having known the original Human Torch, Steve still finds Vision to be a wonder.

He makes his way over to join the synthezoid, and sees Clint and Rhodey at the same time. "You did," Steve replies to Rhodey about if he missed a memo. "The one that said you were buying," Steve adds as he looks to Clint and Vision for confirmation. "Right?"

He takes a seat, looking around at their choices. "Hopefully I'll have more luck with the food than I have the gift," he says.

Vision has posed:
Coming at things a bit literally, Vision puts on an expression of polite confusion. Narrowed eyes, faint smile. Internally, he double checks in case he did in fact fail to receive a memo. Perhaps his extended absence from official activity? "I'm afraid I also failed to receive this particular notice." He offers a hand to both Rhodes and Barton in turn before resuming his seat, looking to Steve for elaboration, "A gift?"

Achilles has posed:
Sharp eyes of jade green spot others in the area. Others who might stand out for one reason or another. Angelo spots someone he knows from work and grins. "Detective. Maybe I can introduce you to one of my coworkers today." he offers before turning to walk towards where Rhodey, aka James Rhodes, aka Commander of ARMOR. But shhh, that's a sekrit!
Either way, he takes a bite of his hot dog and says while chewing, "I fink y'll lik'im." Yes, he is chewing with his mouth full. Blame his mother for not training him right. Wait, on second thought, bad idea.

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint smirks, "No, I got that one. Lunch, Chelsea, on Rhodey. Right out of Fury's office, something about taking care of the troops." He snags a chair leg with one booted foot, dragging it away from the table and sitting down. "I'm pretty sure this place won't strain your department's budget all that much."

He settles back in the chair, still looking around the area for possible threats before turning back to the other folks at his table. "So what have you guys been up to, anything exciting that we can discuss in public?"

James Rhodes has posed:
"Me pay? Nono, I think Tony's got this one." Rhodey replies to Steve with a grin, before he shakes his head at Barton, "Vision's with me on this, you two gotta get your stories straight." He also pulls up a chair, and slides into it easily, looking over at Cap and Vision, "I'm not crashing your party or anything, am I?" he asks perhaps a bit belatedly on that front.

Sara Pezzini has posed:
Sara glances around for a place to enjoy this wonderful hot dog even as Angelo speaks up about his co-workers. It's a busy day for the recently hospitalized detective! "That sounds like a great idea," she offers, taking a drink of her soda then moving to follow the man. "I've always wanted to meet a other SHIELD agents."

Having no idea that Angelo is talking about Captain, Clint and Rhodes, she's expecting some random agents. "I've considered looking into joining SHIELD, perhaps this is a good time to ask some of those nagging questions?"

Steve Rogers has posed:
Steve Rogers gestures with his hand as Clint backs him up on it, though his tone is one that people who knows Steve would know is him being joking. "Well there you have it. Fury's office himself. I think that turns it from a memo into a mandate, doesn't it Vision?" he asks.

A little gesture of Steve's hand seems intended to wave off any concern from Rhodey that he is crashing anything. "No, no. Just meeting up for lunch. Nothing special. I got a recommendation I might be able to find something here for Janet. And that lead to discussing lunch," Steve explains.

He looks about at the various options. "I remember a day if you wanted a particular type of food you had to go find a restaurant that focused on it. Well, or a street vendor. Everything is sort of... almost too convenient these days," he says, rising as he seems to be trying to decide what to get.

Achilles has posed:
"Ixnay with the IELD-Shay.." offers Angelo with a smirk as he turns to face Sara, walking backwards for a few steps before he grins and turns back forward. He approaches the table where the others have gathered and he pauses as he addresses James Rhodes. "Sir. Good to see you out of the off..." And then he pauses as his brain catches up and he realizes who else is present. I mean he's read most of the SHIELD bio's on these folks.
"Oh. Sorry. I didn't mean to intrude. I just thought I might introduce a friend to a co-worker. A friend who has quite the potential should anyone in the upper ranks decide that a Detective's talents might be beneficial."

Vision has posed:
There is some mild concern lingering on Vision's features. Foolproof communications are vital in the Avengers' line of work. Simple messages falling through the cracks and impacting multiple members is something he'll definitely be investigating later. He nods to Steve, a bit hesitant, "Ordinarily, yes, but... I'm still failing to find-" Clint's inquiry pulls him back into the conversation, however. He can check the internal communications systems later in private.

"To the contrary. Public discussion is vital to most of my recent work..." He glances sidelong to Steve. This probably isn't completely new information, as even away from active duty The Vision is not an asset an organization simply forgets about. "...primarily aiding Climatewatch UK. Research data, public education, government... Well, -attempting- to improve government engagement."

Sara Pezzini has posed:
Sara curses softly in Italian, not likely loud enough for normal ears to hear but just enough that over achievers might hear. She should have known better than to use specifics, but she is sorely out of practice with her being sneaky. She offers Angelo an apologetic expression, even as they reach the table and he starts to talk...

Holy mother cluster... Captain America! Her brain screams that loud enough she her eyes widen in reaction. This so was not the best day to have just been released from the hospital with huge gaps in her memory, and yet she knew that face. Never met him of course, but he's right there. A small part of her turns into s school girl for a instant, but she shoves that down real quick and offers a smile to those at the table. Out... of... her league.

James Rhodes has posed:
James Rhodes says to Vision to try and clear things up a bit for the being that shares his voice with the other voice that is sometimes in his ear, "Vision, Cap's joking. There wasn't a memo. You didn't miss anything," with a bit of a smile before he chides Steve, "You're gonna blow one of his circuits you know, and then...someone will have to come have a very stern talk with you about that sort of horseplay," in a light tone.

It's then that he hears a voice over his shoulder, and turns towards Angelo as he speaks, "Oh, hey, Angelo. Don't worry about the sir stuff or whatever. We're off the clock." He then looks past the man to Sara and her reaction to the assembled cast of characters in front of him. He suppresses a smile at this, one of the good moments of being an Avenger, before he clears his throat, and says to her, "A pleasure to meet you Detective. I'm James Rhodes. And, it seems you're aware of at least one of my friends here."

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint watches as Angelo approaches the table, relaxing fractionally as he recognizes the man. He gives the approaching agent a nod and a murmered, "Heya Angelo." His eyes shift to Sara as Angelo indicates her and asks, "Police or Private?" Not a big conversationalist there, by any means.

At Vision's discussion of his work, he shrugs a little and offers, "It's a good cause, but I still say humanity is determined to ruin things." He grins at Rhodes' scolding of Cap, but only adds, "But it's fun."

Steve Rogers has posed:
Of the restaurants, the barbeque place seems to be getting the most return looks from Steve. The menu up above the counter has an image of a brisket sandwich slathered in bbq sauce. If the real thing resembles the picture closely, it might not be too bad of a choice.

The man turns back to his companions, and laments, "Yes, Vision was just a bit of joking there," he confirms, reaching out to gently clasp the other on the shoulder.

Steve turns back, the throwback Brooklyn Dodgers cap he's wearing gets pushed up just a bit to show more of his face as James Rhodes makes the introduction. "Angelo is it? Nice to meet you," he says, offering his hand along with, "Steve Rogers." After, Steve turns his attention to the lady, repeating the gesture. "Nice to meet you Detective. Are you with the NYPD?" he asks.

Sara Pezzini has posed:
A very slow, determined breath is pulled in and Sara turns pink. It was obvious to everyone she had been staring, and not in that 'oh by god he's handsome, let me get in his pants' sort of way, this was true adoration and respect staring.

"Oh, yeah... I mean who wouldn't know the Ca..." she stops, not sure what to call him, so she just lets that slide all cool and casual like. "Pleasure to meet you Mr. Rhodes," she offers him a nod as she speaks. "I'm Sara Pezinni, NYPD," and this is said to Rhodes and the others who asked..

Vision has posed:
Vision's nod to Clint is accompanied by an expression of pained understanding, "Indeed. It does seem that long term self-preservation does not rise to the level of importance it merits with many." He looks to his prop drink for a moment, considering. Super-advanced AI contemplating the self-destructive nature of humanity. THAT has never gone poorly.

Looking over to Rhodes' explanation of The Joke... "Oh, I... Oh. Ha ha!" It's a bit overzealous of a laugh, but certainly seems genuine enough. While humor doesn't always elude him, deadpan and subtle have a pretty strong head start on him.

His eyes find the new arrivals. NYPD? Interesting. He smiles and nods a greeting.

Achilles has posed:
And that is when Angelo goes quiet. He nods to Rhodey, but just lets Sara speak for herself. He doesn't feel a need to assert anything about himself. He is also confident that Sara has a lot to offer and can make her own case. At that point, he nods to Steve and accepts the handshake without needing to say anything about it.
After she speaks however, he says, "Rhodey then? Okay. Rhodey, I have a feeling Detective Pezzini here might be -very- useful in either our department, or perhaps more in another of the tangent departments..." and he mimes waving a wand about.

James Rhodes has posed:
James Rhodes bites his tongue as Sara clearly is overawed by Cap, though he smiles a bit knowingly. "A pleasure to meet you," he says to the Detective, before he catches sight of Angelo's miming. "Oh? Well, I will keep that in mind. We are always looking for people who might be of use to the organization." He then seems to remember some of his manners and introduces the other members sitting at the table, "And these two are Clint Barton -- also an Agent of SHIELD -- and Vision. The Vision? Vision. I'm going with Vision," he says, motioning to the other two Avengers.

Sara Pezzini has posed:
It's polite. As each is introduced, she offers her hand. If it is taken her handshake is firm, but not like she's trying to out macho anyone, she's saves those handshakes for assholes who need their hands broken. "Niced to meet you Mr. Barton, Mr. The Vision."

Her attention turns back to Rhodes now, as it is very important /not/ too look toward Cap right now, very, very important. "I have been considering it for some time now, have just never really taken the time to learn /how/ to go about it. I think I have some skills I could offer on a more broad scale than just New York city."

Steve Rogers has posed:
Steve Rogers, on the other hand, doesn't give any sign as he offers Sara his hand that he noticed anything from her that might cause the woman any embarrassment. "A long time admirer of those who devote their careers to helping others, Detective Pezzini," Steve says.

After shaking Angelo's hand, he motions towards the table. "I think we can pull some extra chairs over and make room if you'd like to join us," Steve offers. His eyes go to Clint and he says, "I think I've talked myself into that barbeque sandwich. What do you say?"

If Clint is amenable, Steve starts over to the counter there. Or by himself if not. He'll place his order, the teen behind the counter not recognizing Steve as readily as Sara and Angelo did. Steve receives a cup he takes over to fill with some ice and then fills with lemonade before going back to get his food.

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint nods as Sara introduces herself, which answers his question, smirks a little an Angelo's Harry Pottering, and waves a hand as Rhodes introduces him, "Heya Sara, nice to meet you. Welcome to the weirdest lunch you're likely to have this week."

He looks around, then nods "Pizza, I think. Been a few days since I had New York pizza." This last really more said to himself than meant to be conversation. He does, however, reply to Sara with a "Nothing wrong with wanting to broaden your horizons."

Vision has posed:
"Actually I've been cultivating a human identity in London, and... now in New York, I suppose." He smiles politely to Sara while saying normal human things like, 'cultivating a human identity'. "My organizations there know me as Victor Shade, but Vision is perfectly acceptable. Delighted to make your acquaintance." He extends a perfectly human-looking hand.

Glancing back to the Captain, he sinks back into his seat. He looks expectantly at the man, quite hoping he asks about these Helpful Skills, but not willing to take the lead on such a line of inquiry.

Sara Pezzini has posed:
Sara would shake any and all hands offered, even the perfectly human one The Vision offered.

James Rhodes has posed:
"Well, this is basically the way to do it. Meet someone, get recommended by them, and then SHIELD reaches out and bombards you with background checks and other paperwork." Rhodey replies, before he says, "Excuse me Detective, one moment, I gotta get me a hot dog. That looks amazing."

Sara Pezzini has posed:
Sara ahs softly and nods, "Okay, well then I'm on the right track apparently." She offers a smile, then steps back to make sure there is enough room for Rhodes to get up. "These are some of the best in New York. Hot dogs, pretzels and pizza, the three things you need to have while in New York."

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint stands from his seat, saying "Be right back." Then heads over to the pizza place. After waiting in line, he gets a couple slices and a soda and returns to the table, sliding back into his seat. "Oh yeah, can't beat New York pizza. And he's not joking about the paperwork, prepare for serious hand cramps. You probably won't be able to do any actual physical activity with your writing hand for a day or two afterwards."

Sara Pezzini has posed:
Finally taking a bite of her hot dog, Sara seems for that moment to be caught in heaven. The flavors, the mixture of topping and condiments, all perfect, exactly what she loves, and some how Angelo knew.

Only after that bite is consumed does she speak again, "I'm already used to a great deal of paper work, everything you do on the force requires things in triplicate, then often entered into the computer, then another form stating you entered it in the computer." She offers a smile as she chuckles. "I'm sure I can work the cramps out of my writing hand with a little lineament. The background check should go pretty smoothly, I presently don't recall anything that I've done that would be a problem." Of course she fails to mention at this point that presently, she doesn't quite recall all the details of her life for the last several months, perhaps even years. Head injuries have a way of causing a few problems with that sort of thing.

Achilles has posed:
Having basically stepped back to let the jewel of the NYPD shine on her own merits, Angelo has now finished his own hot dog. He gulps down some of his coke and then steps a bit closer once more. He catches himself as he is about to reach out to Sara affectionately.. it's a reflexive kneejerk thing. But then he stops and his face gets just a bit less happy for a heartbeat. Mentally berating himself before he just nods to Rhodes. "The dogs are quite good. And as for the background check... I have confidence that there are only two or three things they might lift a brow at. But nothing rejectable." he says.

James Rhodes has posed:
"Come by Triskeleon next time you can, and I'll see about giving you the rundown," Rhodey says as he returns with a hot dog. He takes a sizable bite of it, and, yes, it is amazing. "Oh...yeah...that's...amazing." he says as he chews. Very polite. "What sort of abilities do you have beyond what I might be seeing here standing chatting with an NYPD detective?"

Sara Pezzini has posed:
Sara doesn't fail to notice the slight change in Angelo, but had no understanding of what caused it, even if it moved by quickly. It was something she would take note of and store for later, perhaps a question to be asked later.

Her attention shifts back to Rhodes when he returns, nodding in response to coming by the Triskeleon, now as for the other part. "Ah...." she looks at Angelo now with a questioning expression, then looks around at the number of people present. Too many, too many ears. "Let's just say I have some hidden talents that often remain quite secret." Sure, that's not code for anything.

Achilles has posed:
The question of.. hidden talents makes Angelo's brows rise a bit towards his hairline. But Sara's response puts him at ease. Again, he remains quiet and regards the others for a long moment. Then he looks back and finishes his soda before depositing the bottle in a garbage can.
His hands end up in his pockets for a lack of anything better to do with them. Also, to keep him from more reflexive gestures that might be ill timed.

James Rhodes has posed:
"You and everyone else here...cept me and Barton. But I got a suit to help me. Barton's pure skill." Rhodey replies with just a touch of admiration for Clint, before he holds up a hand, "I won't press it here in public, but...just so you know...ARMOR takes on some pretty rough customers. I gotta make sure you're not gonna get yourself or your teammates killed because you're not quite as high speed as you think. LAST time I went out with some half baked hero he went and got kidnapped by aliens." He's serious now. It's a switch he can flip it seems.

Sara Pezzini has posed:
A hint of a smirk plays on Sara's lips for a split second then is gone, but that does't stop her brain from wanting to make a few choice comments regarding her abilities. He doesn't know, so let it slide.

"I'd be more than willing to offer a demonstration in an appropriate setting, perhaps even several if it will help to secure your concern as unwarranted. I'm certain there are situations that I'm not the strongest or fastest, or that I don't know the correct procedure, but that's the idea of teamwork, know your strength, know your weakness, share them with your team and work together to achieve the end goal."

Achilles has posed:
"Forgive me for interjecting on her behalf but in addition to what she said... I've fought at her side and I'll just say that if it came down to it, I'd end up hiding behind her when it all goes pear shaped." mutters Angelo. He shrugs his shoulders and adds, "If only so that meant I wasn't in front of her when she was angry. But yes, I suggest we arrange a private.... ermm... discussion on the matter."
"Combined with good instincts and excellent training." That said, he shrugs his shoulders once more.

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint raises his cup to Rhodes when his skill is acknowledged, "Thanks for noticing." He grins and looks at Sara for a moment before commenting, "So really, it's only me who has to get by on my own?" He's not really bothered by it, but sometimes it really does seem like he's the only one left out of all the really fun toys, though Quinjets have a certain appeal. He shrugs a little and adds, "Just enhances my rep, I guess." He takes a bite of pizza, "Ah, heaven, yes."

James Rhodes has posed:
James Rhodes puts up a hand and nods, "I get it, yeah, and I'm sure you're amazing Detective. Like I said, all I got is a suit. Some of y'all with your mutations or godlike powers, or whathaveyou are just awesome. In the literal sense. Don't get me wrong, but...I'm just trying to avoid another Ant Man situation here y'know?" And then, his wrist beeps at him. He looks down, and says, "And, that's the boss calling. Apparently there is a meeting I am meant to be at at Stark Tower in twenty minutes and he wants to go over things."

"And, believe me Clint, I didn't have the suit, I wouldn't be able to hold your quiver, let alone run around with you or the rest of our rag tag bunch of underdogs." That last bit, surely sarcasm, but he does seem to mean the part about Clint being on the same level as his otherwise enhanced teammates, without any enhancement.

Sara Pezzini has posed:
Sara offers another nod to Rhodes, "No insult taken. I will come by the Triskeleon, as you suggested, but you are welcome to contact me at any time you'd like for that demonstration. I understand your concern, as a leader it's your place to be concerned..."

She suddenly stops, one brow lifting. "Do I even want to know what the Ant-Man situation was?"

Achilles has posed:
"I presume it had something to do with alien abduction as he mentioned earlier." suggests Angelo, "But I could be misreading the situation.
His voice is a bit flat as he is trying to reac the situation... but finally just says more softly than publically, "As for abilities, I just can't die. That is my only -real- super power."

Clint Barton has posed:
"Well, in our line of work, that's not a terrible one, really." Clint chimes in. "Considering some of the things we tend to deal with, I'd put a high value on not dying." He takes another bite of pizza, then looks at Rhodes, "Well, and Sam and Nat also, of course, but Sam's kind of got a suit. Just not as clunky as yours."

James Rhodes has posed:
One of the nice things about being WarMachine is, well, traffic really isn't an issue for you. He gives a salute to Angelo and Sara, and then says to Barton, "Are you saying my suit makes me look fat?" And then, the suit starts to grow around him because, Stark Tech's latest version does that now. "Wanna say that to my face?" before one of his LED eyes blinks on and off in a wink. And then, he lifts off and heads for Stark Tower to answer Tony's call.

Sara Pezzini has posed:
Sara just stares, jaw slightly slack and lets out the faintest, "Well that was fucking awesome." in reaction. Blinking she looks back to Clint. "Some of us don't choose what happens, it just happens and we learn to deal with it."

Now that there are a couple of chairs available, invited or not, she sits down. "That really was awesome, how can anyone not think that's awesome?"

Achilles has posed:
"It's completely fantastic. In my day, a man would have to have the favor of some divine being and then maybe have Hephaestus craft him clockwork wings. Much simpler this way I think." offers Angelo as he follows Sara's lead and moves to sit down.

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint watches Warmachine lift off, then shakes his head and turns back to the table "Showoff. And I don't know about simpler, sometimes I think I'd rather deal with Greek gods than Tony Stark... smaller egos."
