Cast of Characters: Daniel Sousa, Peggy Carter

Daniel Sousa has posed:
Daniel had stayed awake long enough to be dragged back onto the pier but after that things got hazy, he had no idea how much time had passed when his eyes opened again all he knew was he was indoors, possibly the restaurant and his tux was still soaked all the way through, it couldn't have been that long. When he sits up his head feels woozy as well, the world blurring like a heat mirage until he lays back down again. "Yep, still drugged," he says to himself not sure he's ready to look around for anyone yet. Planning on giving things more time he tries to put together what he could remember, he got married, that thought brings a smile to his face, then there was the frogmen and the darts... he hit the water and people came to rescue him.

"Peggy," he says sitting up suddenly even though he resolved not to just moments before. He didn't know what happened to Peggy, the world starts to get fuzzy again, but he pushes through, turning sidewise to get off the couch they placed him on only to realize he was missing his prosthetic and his cane.

"Shit," he curses, fighting down the panic and frustration brought about by being suddenly stuck where he was. "Hey, anyone around?!" he calls into wherever he was.

Peggy Carter has posed:
It's not exactly the Ritz, but the private dining room above the restaurant where the reception was being held had a lovely, large sitting area, it's own private bar, big windows looking over the pier, and now coffee service. Peggy's still slightly sleeping off her own dart, though the medics have checked them both over and Peggy insisted they go join the party. Everyone should have fun until the Bride and Groom can manage to return, since both of them were given a stable, if drowsy, bill of health.

Peggy's taken off the little sheer bolero she was wearing over her simple, elegant but very large down, so her toned arms are bare and all her hair is down in soft waves now, instead of pinned up in fancy curls on her head. The moment she hears him, she jerks awake herself, practically almost falling out of the plush chair she'd been in, but she manages to catch herself on the table.
5rShe immediately comes to kneel at his side, that easier than standing, as her fingertips go to find his. "Darling! Daniel...here. I'm here. Just... take it slow. I've got another suit for you and some towels, but I didn't want to jostle you...Too much." She admits. She did take his suit jacket off, and shoes, prosthetic, socks, anything easy enough to remove in its soaked state to not leave him totally miserable. SHe searches his eyes, trying to figure out just how much if it might be left in his system. Considering how she rambled, she's almost curious how he might.

Daniel Sousa has posed:
Daniel's eyes are a little unfocused but they turn to Peggy all the same at the sound of her voice. "Thank god," he says when he sees her., squeezing her fingertips back. "I was afraid they got you, whoever they are," he says, "So many theys to choose from," he says. "But anyhow we're safe, is everyone else okay? Lily, Howard, your friend from the war?"

Peggy Carter has posed:
"Yes, yes... it seems very much that we were the targets, which..." Peggy gives a husky laugh, sinking down to the side of her hip, which really means she just looks like a fluffy marshmellow on the floor, her dress spilling everywhere around them and bunching into the side of the coffee table. "I suppose we were asking for it, putting an announcement in the paper. Howard insisted it would be fine. I should know better than to listen." Peggy smirks, more amused than annoyed at this point. "...a story for the grandchildren." Her fingertips come up, tenderly combing back through his damp dark hair.

Daniel Sousa has posed:
"Good," Daniel says about the others. "I mean that they're safe, not that they were after us specifically," he explains needlessly before laughing a little to see her spread out like she was on the floor in her dress. Though the rest does bring him around and he smiles, "True, not many grandparents are going to have stories about when frogmen showed up at their wedding," he says before becoming a bit more serious. "Peggy it's not your fault, I signed off on it too, so, you don't get to take all of this on your shoulders. I was the one that had hope our enemies could be decent human beings despite serving HYDRA or cutting out their voice boxes for Stalin." He says frowning a little before remarking absently. "Do like the idea of grandchildren though." Clearly the normally straight roads of Daniel's mind were a bit more bendy than normal tonight.

Peggy Carter has posed:
While Peg is perhaps a bit more recovered than he is -- she didn't hit the drink and she's had some time for coffee -- it's not all entirely worn off. Where as she might often clam up when the thought of children comes around, a drowsy, idly happy smile crosses her still red lips and she sinks her head against his arm a moment, considering, "I mean, that would require children first, but...that is a nice thought, I do suppose." She smiles drowsily at the ceiling...

Then she realizes her cheek is resting against wet sleeve. And she's probably still talking with looser lips. She blinks and sits up straight. "Oh! Daniel... damn the frogmen, I'm guessing Leviathan... trying to grab us as hostages to trade for Dottie, but...it's done and you're still soaked! I've got towels. And another suit. DId I already say that? I brought us back up clothes..."

Daniel Sousa has posed:
And Daniel would never venture as far down the topic as he was going, at least not without tripping over his words. Tonight though, whatever they hit him with, it seemed to smooth over any bumps along that road. "Michael and Melinda," he says. "In my head that's what I call our kids, since your brother and May, they're the ones that got us here. Actually Michael does double duty, the guy that dragged me out of the snow in Volgograd was a Mike even if he was an ass, but yeah, kids, grandkids would be nice, and I mean not to toot our own horns here, they'd be pretty damn good kids if they turn out anything like us."

Even with the drugs he starts to feel a little exposed as if he's said too much and he shifts topic. "You did, where are they? And my leg? I should probably get dressed."

Peggy Carter has posed:
"You...you thought about this enough you have *names* for them... already? There's two?" Peggy asks, shock apparent in her voice, but not anger. In fact, she seems a bit touched by it all. "...those are... very good names." She murmurs rather softer, a heartbeat later.

Then he's asking about his suit and she remembers what she was in the middle of doing, "Oh! Yes... sorry goodness. Yes. I'm still... yes. Those are good names. Your suit. And leg." She then scrambles back up to her legs, navigating around the large puff of a dress isn't as smooth as she'd like, but she does hand him over the two towels she had sitting right next to him and then makes it over to get his leg and suit. "The fancy cane is a lost cause. I had to bring the gold one Howard recommended..." It's also fancy, just a bit more showy with some dramatic gem of a head. She carries the cane and prosthetic over before going back for the suit. It's nearly identical to what he was wearing before, though a slightly more relaxed cumberbund. Just like her other dress isn't as big as puffy, but she's not soaked, so probably not changing.

"...you really thought about it...that much?"

Daniel Sousa has posed:
Daniel's head dips at Peggy's shock, a little colour rising in his cheeks, "Now and then," he says lifting his eyes to look at her. "Glad you think so," he says of the names.

Then he is more than happy to let things go in other directions, thanking her for the towels as he pulls off his shirt and gets to work drying off his chest and hair. His efforts pause though when he sees the cane, his brows arching at the sight of the thing. He chuckles, "It's a good thing you didn't take my name, Peg, if I walk around with that thing I think I'm required by law to change mine to Rockefeller." He shakes his head but takes it and the new suit without complaint remarking, "And yes, you were right about bringing a second set of clothes," he admits good naturely, putting aside the cane to get out of his wet pants, though he doesn't get that far, before Peggy's question draws his dark eye up to hers, "Yeah, I did," he admits without the embarassment of before. "It's nice to dream on."

Peggy Carter has posed:
While he's pulling off his shirt, Peggy cannot help but look over her shoulder at him and simply appreciate the sight. Even if they've 'sinned before marriage' numerous times, she still seems as attracted to him as she was that first day. She's biting her lower lip, cheeks flushed, before she even realizes what she's doing. She tries to shake it off, going back to getting his fresh suit ready and off the hanger. The Rockefeller comment gives a wry smirk from her, "No one who knows Howard Stark should joke about changing his name to Rockefeller. Howard might hear." She winks at him, bringings over the fresh suit.

But then the previous subject returns. She had been the one to bring it up again, her expression softening some as he admits sans embarrassment his dreams. She tilts her head slightly, studying his face, looking for any sort of trick or doubt. But, at this moment, she doesn't see it. "Even with our...lives? Why didn't you bring it up before?" The questions are soft, as if she's scared to step on a land mine.

Daniel Sousa has posed:
Daniel catches that look but doesn't comment, only lowers his head to hide a broad smile and the faintest rise of colour to his cheeks as he watches her get the suit ready for him. "Why do you think I'd do it, got to keep Howard humble somehow even if he's not here to hear it I know he knows, somehow," he smiles as he takes the suit from Peggy before the talk returns to the previous subject.

"I sort of did at the hospital," though it was in a very halting sort of way with the fear of losing Peggy fresh in his mind and without the benefit of Russian drugs. He meets her gaze though unflinching now that the subject has been broached. "I figured we'd talk it out when the time was right, and besides knowing what we know of the future, dreams might be all we get on that score," he says before meeting her eyes and reaching for her hand. "However it turns out Peg, it'll be okay by me."

Peggy Carter has posed:
Peggy is silent for several heartbeats, just standing in front of him, trying to gather her thoughts. She's doing her best not to say anything too fast, to let her rambling tongue be a little bit controlled instead of just spilling everything into the atmosphere. She exhales through her nose, reaching one hand forward to catch his palm before he finishes getting ready. "Michael and Melinda are... wonderful names. I hope we get to use them." There. She said it. Simple, no long debates or worrying over what a poor idea it'd be with their lives. Just a moment of sheer honestly, even if the look in her eyes is a little terrified to have said it. Everything about the last two days has been a little terrifying. It all matters too much.

Daniel Sousa has posed:
Daniel smiles when she touches him and does so a little bit wider for her words. "Me too," he says but the terror in Peggy's eyes is unmistakable and entirely understandable. Leaning up a little he reaches to touch her face and smile at her, "I know, I feel it too, but we've been through crazier situations, we'll make it through this one too," he tells her before, suit put aside and with the help of that ridiculous cane he leans up further to kiss her, his hand still against her cheek.

Peggy Carter has posed:
Somehow, he always knows what to say and do. That's probably why they're standing here, him half dressed, both with rings on their fingers. Peggy leans into that kiss, breath easing as her chest untightens and she lets go of pieces of that momentary fear. Her hand comes up, cupping his cheek in turn. The kiss lasts longer than the one in front of everyone, this one being very much for them and without an audience. Even when she's pulled away, it's only an inch or so. Her forehead and nose rest against his, just taking a moment to breathe him in, especially after she saw him go over the edge of the boardwalk. "I love you...and if we do take that chance...some day, you sure as HELL better promise me no more pier dives, alright? I...I can't do any of this alone. I can't."

Daniel Sousa has posed:
Daniel lingers in this kiss enjoying this private moment much more than the one before the audience, when their lips part and they linger close together, he still caresses her cheek listening to her words, eyes slipped closed with contentment in the moment, though he opens them when she seeks to extract that promise. "You've got it Peg," he says without hesitation, "Like I told you back in the SSR, I'm with you to the end."

Peggy Carter has posed:
She lets heavy lashes close as well, relaxing into that promise. For tonight, she can let the doubts about their careers and how much she knows that promise is likely fake (for one of them) be set aside. Peggy will just enjoy being married and the illusion of forever. She leans into the caress of his hand, exhaling slowly. "...I know we should go back out there. They've got...toasts, and speeches, and presents...and there's that whole cake. But god, most of me just wants to drag you back home and enjoy having made it this far."

Daniel Sousa has posed:
Daniel knows his end is due sooner than hers, by a wide margin but as with the grandchildren it was nice to dream.

His eyes open and he smiles. "I like your plan, better, think we can escape without the whole party thinking we got kidnapped?" he asks with amusement in his eyes.

Peggy Carter has posed:
Peg's eyes suddenly open, going a bit wide as he doesn't talk her out of the idea but seems to agree, "Oh, Daniel...there's dozens of people out there. Howard spent all this money. It's... it's our *night*. We... really should go. What about all those pictures people take? The first dance, cutting the cake... shouldn't we... go do that?" She asks, pulling back just enough she can comfortably see his eyes. She's relying on him to be the one to talk them into normalcy.

Daniel Sousa has posed:
Any other day that would be the role he'd play but today wasn't any other day. "Like you said Peg, this is our day, I am sure Howard or our guests are going to be to offended if we run off for some time together after fighting for our lives." In fact he's fairly sure Howard at least would get a kick out of the idea. "And as long as we're careful getting each other out of these clothes, we can always grab some pictures another day if we feel the need."

Peggy Carter has posed:
Before Peggy can really take the jump with him and sneak out the back, the door to the room abruptly opens. It's Howard, in his tux, smiling like the devil but also giving them those 'hurry up' eyes. "Come on, half the band is drunk already and prime rib doesn't keep all night! Chop chop. If you're gonna consumate the marriage in here, make it a quickie. And you're doin' it wrong, Peg. You take his clothes off, not put more on!" He tosses them a wink and then he's out the door again, assuming they are going to be shortly following.

Peggy gives a tired laugh, leaning forward to kiss him again. "...a few more hours. We can do a few more hours." She is mostly sober now, and the practical one. Though she's also blushing, probably not willing to let Howard think they were doing the dirty up here!

Daniel Sousa has posed:
Daniel smiles, shaking his head, "We'll be right out," he promises shooing the man off with a look, and returning the kiss, slow to pull away. "We can do a few more hours," he says, he echoes smiling at her blush, "But you know what Howard said about a quickie..." he teases letting that trail off with a laugh. "Let's get me dressed and get out there, just think after we're done we've got tonight, the honeymoon and the rest of our lives to look forward to, not a bad deal," he says before stealing a kiss and getting to the task of getting dressed to go out and face their guests for a hopefully less eventful second half of the reception.
