Cast of Characters: Peter Parker, Natasha Irons

Peter Parker has posed:
When you live in a place like New York City, you start to believe some of the hype. Metropolis, in most depictions of the place, looks like a city of the future - clean (sometimes impossibly so), ordered, and bordering on the concept of utopian.

But, like most of the hype out there, it is not quite up to reality.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Exhibit A - the area known as "Suicide Slum."

Spider-Man, who is relatively well-known for being a New York fixture, is a little out-of-place in Metropolis, but there are enough taller buildings in Metropolis to make webslinging a viable idea.

So, here he is, following an evidence thread leading from a drug deal in Brooklyn to an Italian "organization" supplying rare problems like...
...well, like five pounds of kryptonite.

Natasha Irons has posed:
It's not often that Natasha really gets out and just flies. She is often spending a great deal more time in the lab trying to perfect this or that. Not really focusing at all on the ins and outs of day to life in Metropolis. Of course, that is before proximity alarms go off in a couple of spots that she keeps tabs on anything moving more than two stories up off the ground through various areas of the city. It's not really her, mind. It's Uncle John that does it. He's the one that set up the system.

Of course, then she kept tabs on it and so it is kinda her, too now? Well, semantics and all that. No point in getting into it when there's something going on. So, she brings up one of the cameras only to notice a strange red and blue blur seemingly swinging by. Slowing the footage down reveals...Spider-Man? Strange. Also an opportunity.

A few moments later, a faint whistling can be heard above the city as none other than Steel flies across the city toward the Suicide Slums and most of the noise fades out as she tones down the speed and comes to a halt, floating above said place, looking around. The sensors on her armor made to mimic Kryptonian senses as she tries to have it sort through sounds and focus on only very particular things.

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man was just setting up the tracer with the vibration-microphone and launching off to swing upward to the warehouse opposite the one he jut wired for sound, and then the whistling sound is heard. He blinks, looking up and around at the sound.
The sound could be anything from a flying supertype to an incoming mortar shell. The question is, which?

Natasha Irons has posed:
The fwipping sound of the webshooters and the swinging has her motion sensors and such locking on pretty quickly to the Spider and so she came down and sat down beside...him. Sorta. She floated down pretty easilly and casually crossed her arms, tilting her head as she looked at Spider-Man. Strangely, despite it seeming to be some kind of suit the face is articulate. The eyes literaly staring at him, mouth quirking, eyebrow raising even as the head tilts.

"You're a long way from home, Spider-Man." She states and nods her head. If anything, that big S on her chest is pretty familiar but the rest of her might not be as much though there is some similarities to another hero if Pete followed that sort of thing.

Peter Parker has posed:
Well, he did more than follow. But he hadn't seen any Kryptonians who used powered armor.
Then again, he didn't know any that NEEDED armor.
"Well, I've built up a lot of frequent-fighter miles and I decided to cash them in." He tilted his head. "That...is pretty advanced armor. You've got the symbol of the House of El on it, so color me a wee bit confused."

And of course, he couldn't access Spider-Comm yet. No cell-tower presence here.

"Well, since you have the advantage of me...who'm I speaking to, she of the nickel-plated knickerbockers?"

Natasha Irons has posed:
A blink and she tilts her head, "You do have a mouth on you." She states and then gestures to herself, "I'm Steel." She states and nods her head, "And yeah, the armor is pretty advanced." She nods again before she floats a little closer, "And frequent flyer miles aside, you are one of the good guys over in NYC. Well, bad guys if you read some newspapers. Either way, you are a long way from home and active in Metropolis." She nods her head and looks in the direction he came from to where he is now.

"That leads me to believe you are either up to something or following something. So, color me interested." She nods her head.

Peter Parker has posed:
"Steel? Hm. Simple, straightforward, concise, gives a sense of you. I like it." Spidey chuckles, then continues, "I usually keep to the Five Boroughs, but as of late I've noticed some criminal lines of 'trade' connecting to Gotham City and Metropolis. I'm following one of those lines, now. The Bargini family owns that warehouse, over yonder. They were working out a drug deal in Brooklyn, but the shipment came from here...and the money was also covering a special shipment to be sent later."
He takes a deep breath. "If the source can be believed, it's five pounds of kryptonite."

Natasha Irons has posed:
A blink and she stares at him for a long moment, "Kryptonite?" She then tilts her head, "There's only one type of person looking for Kryptonite." She states and nods her head, "And I'm not a fan of any of it." She nods again and then takes a breath before looking over to the side at the buildings, starting to scan more thoroughly, "Why would people doing drug deals even think they need it or spend that kind of money?" She looks back to Spider-Man, "Any ideas?"

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey shrugs. "I think they are handling it for someone higher up the food chain. The kind of person who wants to make sure they have a killswitch for should the person in question show up." He looked to the warehouse. "The shipping was done from here. I set up a tracer with a vibration sensor to act as a microphone. I was just about to set up the receiver when you descended." He gave her a wry look. "Are you one of the El family? I thought they really didn't need physical protection."

Natasha Irons has posed:
A blink at him and then she considers that before she looks at him directly, "Not exactly." She then looks down at him a little before considering, "Vibration sensor? What is the vibrational frequency?" She asks and tilts her haed, "I could probably sense it." She nods her head and taps the helmet, "I just have to know what I'm looking for and I can probably hear it or see it." She nods her head, "Though, I suppose I could just start listening for out of the ordinary vibrations if it were nearby." She then looks to him, "As for protection. Well, not everyone is built the same. We aren't all Spider-People."

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man looks thoughtful, then nods. "453.4 mHZ. It's almost never used by ham radio operators because of line noise, but I was able to beat the problem with a reverse-phase oscillator. Comes through loud and clear."

The range is a good fit for surveillance, especially if he was able to fix the static issues at that range of frequencies. She can pick it up immediately, One tiny block dot from here, placed at the corner of the window. An analysis of the acoustics shows it can pick up anything on the entire floor.

"So you wear the logo, but not Kryptonian. Well, as long as they don't go after you for interstellar copyright law, I'm not going to pick nits."

Natasha Irons has posed:
"I wasn't the first person to wear it and I won't be the last." She gestures to the logo and then looks over toward a spot on the window and hmms as she looks at it before looking back at him, "Got ya. I can try to pick it up if you think it is somewhere in the city. I've got an interest in keeping it out of the hands of idiots." She shifts her hands to her hips and shakes her head, "Can't have big blue taken down by some moron with a hand gun and a green glowing rock." She nods her head, "Better if someone like me takes them down first." She then shrugs and tilts her head.

"Or someone like you." She chuckles and nods her head, "I don't doubt you can handle most thugs with guns."

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider-Man chuckles. "Well, I'd feel more comfortable if I could determine and keep track of the heroes and zeroes of Gotham and Metropolis. I have my own database, but I need to hack the cell-tower systems of those two cities to even access it...and this Wayne Enterprise tech is no joke."

Natasha Irons has posed:
A look over at Spider-Man and she smiles, "Yeah, I can get that. Definitely a good thing." She nods her head, "I can appreciate it." She smiles and nods, "All the same, I'd like to keep on top of this. I can't let Kryptonite be roaming freely around the city." She nods her head and shifts her spot in the air to lean on the wall and look over at the city, "That kind of stuff shakes people's confidence." She nods her head and looks over at Spider-Man, "The world needs Superman." She nods her head, "I know there's a lot of heroes roaming around but..." She considers it a moment.

"It's Superman that inspires people to feel safe not just here but in many places. Sure, there are day to day problems but people feel better knowing there's some crazy powerful man who can punch any Brainiac or Doomsday roaming around if the need arises." She nods to Spider-Man, "Just like NYC needs its webcrawler."

Peter Parker has posed:
He can't help it. He can get a LITTLE defensive about this sort of thing.

"Hey, don't forget SUPERGIRL. She's pretty awesome in her own right. I think the world needs her, too."

He realizes he's sounded a LITTLE too emotional and re-asserts himself. "I mean, she's really awesome. She even helped me with a gold robbery. Subway train with a stolen shipment of gold ingots. She really made the difference, then."

Natasha Irons has posed:
A smile and she laughs a little, "Yeah, Supergirl is pretty amazing. She just isn't the original boy scout super hero." She nods her head and shrugs, "Sorry, it's just the way it is. The world is all about symbols, Spider-Man." She nods her head and taps her chest lightly, "And people see those symbols and feel safe. It's just the way things are. Ya can't really change it." She shakes her head, "People gather around these things like fire in the winter."

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey nods. "Yeah, I can see that. The Avengers get the same credibility as the Justice League, or the Titans." He looks over to the building. "Well, if I get a line on those Kryptonite rocks, would you be the person to contact? I'm not about to call Supergirl or Superman if I *do* find them. That would be like inviting an asthmatic to a room filled with poison gas."

Natasha Irons has posed:
A light chuckle and the woman nods her head, "Yeah, I can definitely handle that. I'm not allergic if that is what you are asking and I can definitely get it somewhere safe where we can dispose of it properly." Or perhaps put it away for further study. One can never be sure with Nat or Uncle John but it'll at the very least be out of the hands of bad people.

"I have a containment unit and while I'm not sure about the proper method of safe disposal of Kryptonite, once I have it I'm sure we can get the thing either locked away or destroyed." She shrugs, "I'm all about building the rep but I am so not ready to take over the mantle of this symbol."

Peter Parker has posed:
"As long as it goes to someone other than me. That sort of thing is WAYYYYY out of my league as a bonafide C-lister." He chuckles to himself. "I have no problem handing it over to someone who knows what they are doing."

He looks down to the warehouse and sighs. "Well...nothing going on there now. Might as well just leave the tracer there on passive mode. I can get a slow-tech alert if it picks up anything. Uhm...how would I contact you, Steel? I *doubt* you're on Google Pages..."

Natasha Irons has posed:
A grin and she raises a hand to her hip and a small hatch opens and out pops a small devicce. She flips it over to Spider-man and then nods to him, "You hit that, and I'll get an alert." She nods her head, "Wherever I am, I'll try to come flyin' to ya." She nods and gives him a nod, "Just don't expect me to show up faster than a speedin' bullet or anything." She shakes her head, "It's not really my thing and I'm not sure how to make this do that." She gestures at the armor, "But I'm pretty sure I can take a hit from a freight train and make the freight train regret its life choices." She nods, "That and I can fly." She nods, "If you couldn't tell."

Peter Parker has posed:
Spidey smirks, looking at the device before stuffing it in a pocket in his backpack. "Lotta responsibility for anyone who wears that symbol, Steel. Good luck living up to it."

Natasha Irons has posed:
"Hey, don't think that that symbol is any less important, web slinger." She points at the symbol on his chest and shrugs before she floats away from him and gives him a nod. Then she's taking off at high speed. Up, up, and away and all that.

Peter Parker has posed:
Spider smiles wryly.

You seem to meet a more-civilized type of A-lister in Metropolis. Maybe they should put that in their ad copy.

He laughed to himself as he fired a webline to head back to the Hyperloop and from there to New York, that toddlin' town.
