Cast of Characters: James Proudstar, Nicole Adams

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar is seating on a bench across the street from The Centinel Hotel, he's sipping coffee and has a clip board across his lap. The day is chilly and breezy, but the sun is strong and feels good. Jim looks a bit contemplative.

Nicole Adams has posed:
Ever since the incident at the care center about a month ago, where the Brotherhood had made their very visible presence known, Nicole had taken to wandering the more openly mutant sections of the city during her off-hours. She, too, was more contemplative than usual, hustling along the sidewalk in her black slacks, soft black boots, and generally keeping to herself. Her path happens to take her by the Centinel Hotel, the wind of her passage and the chilly breeze making her honey blonde hair trail out behind her like the beginnings of a comet's tail.

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar looks up as familiar scent wafts across him, and he frowns searching for a name, the woman doesn't look very familiar, slacks and blouse against bundled in the snow but the nose knows and James calls out, "Nicole?" Jim is dressed differently as well, jeans, a good pair of boots and a sports coat, with a button down shirt underneath. He's a little dressed up especially from what he's been wearing around mutant town recently.

Nicole Adams has posed:
Something about that rumbling voice stops Nicole in her tracks, her head on a swivel as she glances about to find its source. "James? Oh my gosh!" The relief at seeing a somewhat familiar face brought a smile of joy and even relief to her face. She turns about, moving over to the bench where he is sitting. "How have you been? Mind if I sit with you for a little while?"

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar smiles and shakes his head, "Not at all", he uses the edge of the clip board to wipe the bench before you sit, "I could use the distraction. Heh, busy. It's been a lot. Working with the Mutanttown Irregulars, signing up for classes at Columbia, and breaking up a trafficking ring, how about you?"

Nicole Adams has posed:
Nicole smiles as she sits down, listening to James and what he's been up to. "Wow. Classes at Columbia. Breaking up a trafficking ring. Sounds like you've been pretty busy. Been pretty eventful on my end as well," she replies. "There was that whole Brotherhood mess at the care center about a month back. I'm lucky my bosses at the Good Room didn't get wind of that. They don't know I'm a mutant. Been pretty much laying low since, or trying to." She purses her lips, nibbling the lower one and considering for a moment. "How familiar are you with places like the Hellfire Club?"

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar frowns, Considering, "Not very. I know that the original is in England. It's an old timey Gentlemen's club, but I imagine they pay very well. Not sure what the more modern incarnation is about, though I know there are mutants involved. They do charity work, had an event down in New Orleans for ,,, mardi gras, I think?"

Nicole Adams has posed:
"New York," Nicole replies. "And yeah, they did have a more open Mardi Gras event." There's a long pause, and she peers over at James. "Seems the owner got wind of me being mutant after the brush-up at the care center and... took an interest in my gifts. I'm not quite sure what direction to go with that, if I should stay put at the Good Room and hope nobody says anything, or throw my lot in over at the Hellfire and at least I can be pretty sure I won't be fired for being a mutant."

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar ohs, "Right, that makes sense. Wow, that's great. I don't think anyone should have to hide who they are. Well, not to be crass but how's they pay? If they're offering the same and you don't have to be worried about hiding who you are, that's a definite win. Right, I'm majoring in Social work, trying to help out down here. We need more people like us in the system to make it work for us. "

Nicole Adams has posed:
"I didn't ask that far. Probably should have. I was more startled that someone called me out for being mutant." Nicole wrinkles her nose, settling back on the bench. "Not sure that made the greatest impression. Maybe I should get in touch and see if there's a position available, and what the pay is. See, the big thing for me there is, once I come out publicly as mutant, there's no going back. I want to be damn sure of what I'm doing."

She smiles as she listens to James' educational ambitions, and his aspirations for the area in the future. "Yes we do. I think you'll do great. Who knows, maybe there'll be a time when normies and mutants can coexist in peace."

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar chuckles, "That's the dream, yeah, the Prof- was excited." James frowns but it passes, as he chuckles, "That would have been my first question, I would, it can't hurt.

"Yeah, being called out like that is rough, a lot of these machiavelli types love to play information games. Who was it if you remember? Well, do you have to come out publicly as a mutant? I mean I don't see the Hellfire club at the meetings if you know what I mean. Sometimes, it's nice to have some people at you back helping keep your secret. "

Nicole Adams has posed:
"Gentleman's name was Sebastian Shaw. Seemed nice enough. Pretty suave. Insisted on leaving me his card." Nicole shrugs, smiling lightly as she glances over at James. "I've been debating asking him what positions are open, seeing what options there are. Only thing that bothers me is that I was called out in the first place."

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar says, "Yeah, that is the rough part of secret identities. Shaw, hunh? Yeah, I've never heard of him, but know the type, had a talk with Magneto, same kind of energy. You could try the hotel?" James nods, towards the Cinteniel. "I hea they may be mutant friendly and a hotel always needs bartenders?""

Nicole Adams has posed:
Nicole seems to consider this, crossing her arms against the chill of a damp breeze that seems to be blowing about. "Magneto, huh? He was there at the care center, too. I don't know, is the hotel here hiring? I guess it couldn't hurt to put out some feelers. Just that they've done good by me over at the Good Room, and I don't want to burn any bridges, know what I mean? Still, it'd be nice to not have to hide any more."

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar nods, "He usually is. Loyalty is good, but if they wouldn't stand by the real you, is that really loyalty? I get keeping your options open, I get that a lot right now. Not having to hide is always easier."

Nicole Adams has posed:
Nicole seems to think about this a moment, leaning a bit towards James as she thinks. She hadn't forgotten that first meeting, and the coffee that night, smiling somewhat. "You know... you're right. Maybe I should just up and take my boss aside and tell them. Explain to them hey, they've done good by me, and I wanted to give them that trust and honesty. If they can't accept that, then that says a lot. Maybe I should make sure I have something else lined up, just in case."

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar leans companionably, "That sounds like a good way to handle it, hope for the best and prepare for the worst, it's not illegal to have powers, yet."
