Marvelous Advice
Date of Scene: 19 March 2021
Location: Keystone Stadium
Synopsis: Wally gets some outstanding advice from Adam. There is actually very little 'Kids these days' or 'okay boomer' involved.
Cast of Characters: Wally West, Adam Brashear

Wally West has posed:
The Salamanders aren't very good these days. Their owner is cheap and it isn't a glamorous market. They still manage to be entertaining every now and then. Today the Chicago Whitesox are in town. It isn't really the matchup of the century, but if you wanna see baseball for cheap, there are isn't a better game.

The uppermost tiers of the stadium are- lets say "traditional". There are aluminum benches from the 80s with chewing gum older than Wally stuck under it. The boxes have all the latest gadgets and accomodations after multiple renovations, but the benches remain. On the plus side, the room up here means you don't have to squeeze past too many people to get to the vendors on tier below.

Wally occasionally enjoys something slower paced. He is wearing his hoodie, and he is sitting on a nice thick wool blanket with a tray full of hotdogs to his side. He used to go to games with his dad back in the day when they had more time. He sighs.

Adam Brashear has posed:
not too far from wally west sits a handsome dark skinned man seemingly well out together and smartly dressed with the exception of a well worn black white sox cap and well kept but well loved leather white sox jacket.

ITs Adam Brashear taking in a game. He's been through so much upheaval and tumult, that taking in a baseball game in the cheap seats (formerly known as the colored seated section) is a small piece of life before his life changed forever. He doesn't need binoculars to see the game anymore he just sits there with a scoring sheet in hand and a cold drink beside him.

Wally West has posed:
Wally isn't one of those people who yells at old ladies wearing the opposing colors (Although he isn't entirely against a little light jeering for appearance's sake). That said, he does still find it odd to see someone up /here/.

"You came all the way from Chicago to sit in the cheap seats?"

The budget superfans sit in the front few rows, back here the atmosphere is more relaxed. Wally looks at this guy in the Whitesox hat with a twinge of recognition. It is an odd context, so he isn't sure, but he swears that he knows that face. He kind of looks like The Blue Marvel, although that could just be Wally's imagination. He waits to hear the man speak.

Adam Brashear has posed:
"I can see the game perfectly well from here. and this is where I've alway sat. I kind of like it. the air is fresher, the beer and hot dogs are the same. why spend more" Adam says when asked why he's up in the nose bleeds.
He takes a sip of his beer. "And besides if i was down there among the really sweaty fans they would dump their beers all over my vintage jacket." He says with a smile to imply he is only joking.

Wally West has posed:
"Well clearly you are a man of taste and sophistication."

He slides a bit closer to the man. That snippet of his voice makes Wally more certain. Confident enough to ask.

"You wouldn't happen to be /The/ Adam Brashear?"

He if he is who Wally is thinks he is, Wally wouldn't want to disturb the peace for him. Hopefully this is a little more discrete.

Adam Brashear has posed:
Adam pauses a moment to think on if he should confirm this. "I, would be that Adam Brashear. Nice to me you" Adam says polite but cautious. He doesn't fully trust people yet.

Wally West has posed:
Wally offers hand to shake. He is doing a reasonable job of containing his excitement.

"I am a big fan. You might not know me. I am wally, Wally West."

He shows a touch of speed, but subtle-ey. The people behind them can't see, and the people up front are too busy booing as another Keystone player strikes out.

"How have things been lately?" He pauses. Being a fan, he knows enough to make it weird, but surely /something/ is common knowledge. He just wishes he knew what the civilians knew. He has soo many questions.

Adam Brashear has posed:
Adam decides to take a closer look at the overly friendly young man. and then as clear as day as bright as the sun literally Adam can see the speed force engery swirling around and through Wally. Adam blink and re adjusts his vision. "I can see I'm not the only one with strange hobbies." adam smiles and takes the offer to shake wally's hand.
"I have been alright, trying to to get re settled into things. how about you"

Wally West has posed:
Wally appreciates the joke. "Oh you know how it is... Time travel, giant monsters from other dimensions... the usual." Wally supposes know one would know better. "This is a real trip meeting you here. My dad had your poster on his wall growing up." He is of course too excited to think about what it is he just said. "I heard you settled down. How is that?" Very few heroes actually get to retire. It would be prudent to learn from one who did. Who knows, maybe Adam can even give advice when it comes to Wally's 'unique' circumstances.

Adam Brashear has posed:
Adam looks slightly embarrassed. "oh boy, there is a lot to unpack there. but long story less long I settled down had a family and lost it." He says with remarkable calm in his tone.
"But thats life you gotta take it as it comes right." he drinks some more beer and gives a subdued cheer and a fist pump when the Sox get an extra base hit.

Wally West has posed:
"Ya don't need to rub it in." Wally says under his breath. He does care about the game a bit.

Lost it? Wally thought he would have known about something-- well never mind. "Oh crap. I'm sorry, I didn't know. Thats terrible." And here he was going to complain about being suprised by the arrival of family. He feels like a real idiot right now. "I was going to ask for advice, but man... Do you wanna talk about it?" He went from from excited to concerned real quick right there. He downs a hotdog worriedly.

Adam Brashear has posed:
"thank you for your concern. But it would actually be good to talk to someone about it. well at least someone that isnt all seeing and all knowing." Adam says to reassure Wally. "I've lived a long life mr. west and dealt with a lot so if you need advice it would be rude of me not to offer up some of my lived experience."

Wally West has posed:
Wally looks down sheepishly. "I dunno maybe I already have my answer. My daughter from the future just timetraveled here. She might be stranded here for the rest of her life, so I -- I guess I was hoping I would be able to be a good dad without any of the experience. She has about 5 years of life experience while looking like a teenager if that helps." He had already been concerned about her aging to death, but this is certainly a grim reminder that anyone could be gone at any moment.

Adam Brashear has posed:
"time traveling children. well thats a new one." Adam chuckles a bit. "well I raised a few boys and let me tell you this. do what you can for her. she's 5? daddy is still superman in her eyes probably. Teenage hormones might be and issue because it always is. But just try your best to remember how you were back then. try to understand her. I know its going to be hard to not look at things from you eyes that have already seen and lived through all that and knows its not as important as we thought it was. but to them it still is you know? they're going through this for the first time remember that. be there to guide be there to pick them up when they get down be there to have their back when they need it. and try to be the example you want them to follow."

Wally West has posed:
Hoo boy. It is now Wally's turn to make a long story short. "Back then? that was like 5 years ago for me." He sighs. Its not just the turn of phrase. (He does know Superman (a little) after all.).

"I think I know what you mean though. Its just that it feels like I'm not /really/ her dad yet. I keep feeling like the dad she expects is the 'me' from I dunno 10? 20? years from now."

"I mean its just happened all so suddenly." Teenage hormones are a hell of a thing to look forward to though.

Adam Brashear has posed:
"You're not ready. no one ever is. not till its time. fo most of us that moment is when you first get to hold a tiny infant and you see yourself in their face and you know that tiny helpless life is yours and they are depending on you to be there for them. For you its a little out of order. but all the same. don't worry about being the dad she expect. you're not that guy and judging by the time travel shenanigans you wont be that guy because you've now got a head start on it. But remember thats your blood you made that girl and she needs you. Think of it like the job. ready or not when people are in trouble out there they need us. They need us to be ther to fight for them to take them out of danger. we you ready the first time you went out there in a suit? but You did it anyway didn't you" Adam puts a hand on Wally's shoulder. "Its not as hard as saving the world but it's just as important."

Wally West has posed:
Truthfully this is an incredible insight into the mindset of a hero that Wally greatly respects. He wonders how he is supposed to implement it into his situation though. That said, he supposes that you should expect that when you tell someone so little and ask for advice.

"Well you have given me alot to chew on. Thank you so much. If I can do anything to help, don't hesitate to call. I can be there in--" He thinks better of it "Less than 10 minutes from anywhere in the world."

They watch the rest of the game in a much less evenful fashion. Naturally the Sox win, but Wally doesn't really mind. (and not just because it was the expected outcome)
