Xavier School Staff Meeting
Date of Scene: 21 March 2021
Location: Staff Meeting Hall
Synopsis: The meeting was had, followed by a cookie fight!
Cast of Characters: Ororo Munroe, Kitty Pryde, Xi'An Coy Manh, Bobby Drake, Jean Grey, Kurt Wagner, Henry McCoy, Remy LeBeau, James Proudstar

Ororo Munroe has posed:
The center of the conference table has had a wide variety of snacks laid out, from donuts and cookies, to cheese and small slices of meat. A few pitchers of iced tea are present, each labeled with type, sugar or not, etc. as well as carafe of hot coffee and another of hot water to go with the large selection of tea (all earl grey).

A staff meeting was like any other gathering, but Ororo had taken the time to ensure that no one would get hangry while they all sat down to talk about the students, school, and anything else that might need to be covered. She was dressed in a pair of black slacks, with a pale blue blouse and a black vest. Her feet are bare, she really does hate shoes.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde and Lockheed come in. Kitty's working away on something on her tablet, only glancing up now and then to make course corrections and scout for people ahead. Knowing Lockheed will give her shoulder a squeeze with his paw if she's going to run into something.

She looks up though as she enters the room fully. "Hey Ororo," she says, smiling over to her. "Ooo, you got kosher," she says, moving over to get a little rolled up piece of pastrami and slice of cheese to go with it. Kitty's wearing dark slacks and a light blue blouse, herself. She spies around for a seat, picking one and then finishing up some things on the tablet before stowing it away.

Xi'An Coy Manh has posed:
Shan comes in in a white blouse buttoned up tight, hair freshly swept back, charcoal skirt, etc. etc. Work for a living! She is several paces behind Kitty, having not wanted to get too close to a dragon's exhaust. She secures a cookie *and* a cup of unsweetened ice tea, saying to Ororo as she does, "Thank you for setting this all up!" ugh /professionalism/.

She then sits down and pulls out the leather-bound notepad. Does she have an agenda? (And if she does, is it a mutant agenda?)

Bobby Drake has posed:
Bobby comes in on Kitty's heels. He knows better than to warn her not to walk and text/tablet/tweet/whatever. You can't really tell someone 'you're going to crack your head open on a wall' when... well, you know. He does resist the urge to tease her and tell her she's going to run into something or someone- the impulse is there, but he's not mean. While he's usually good to take part in a prank, it usually takes the lead from the more mischievous members of the mansion for him to go along.

"Ororo!" he chimes in after Kitty, and grabs some unsweetened tea, "Quite a bit of food. We're going to the DR to burn it off afterwards?" he smiles and grabs himself a seat. No food yet. He's not particularly hangry yet. He's attired in a simple attire- jeans, shirt and leather jacket. Bobby isn't particularly flashy in his dress.

Jean Grey has posed:
It's a short trip for Jean, who emerges from her office, where one might assume that she was busy working herself to death as usual, arriving just a little ahead of whenever they're scheduled to start. Since it's not a normal school day, she's doing said work in a more casual look: jeans and a green turtleneck ribbed top. "'Roro, do you need a hand setting up any of-"

But then she spies the fairly impressive snack spread laid out on the table, and laughs. "-seems not. Well it all looks great, and the timing's perfect. I'm famished." Part in parcel with that workaholic tendency.

So with big eyes for all the goodies laid out, she walks right up to the side nearest her door, and starts making herself a little plate. "Shan's right, it really is a big help," she echoes after the other woman's bit of gratitude. One less thing for her to do!

Kurt Wagner has posed:
Ahhh, the joys of being a teacher. All those delightful students to teach and meetings to attend! It's a good thing that Kurt is endlessly cheerful. It definitely comes in handy -- both as a teacher and as a X-Men.

His own arrival is via a quiet *Bamf* sound and a rapidly dissipating cloud of dark, inky mist that rapidly fades away, leaving him in the far corner of the room. That ready grin slides over his face as he lays eyes on the waiting table of food, rubbing hands together and looking over the selection as he pads over for a closer look. "Ah ha! I thought there might be treats. Now lets see..." he says thoughtfully, fetching a plate.

Ahhh, the most difficult part of meetings like this. Deciding just what to fill his plate with and where to grab a seat.

Henry McCoy has posed:
Arriving next, is Hank. He's got on his button-down shirt, slacks and comfortable athletic shoes. He nods to the others assembled, looking perhaps a bit tired. Most certainly a bit sleepless. He offers a smile to the other staff, collecting up a coffee and a doughnut for himself. The big man settles into a chair, carefully, and leans back a bit. For now, he's quiet - rather unusual for the normally talkative Beast.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde looks up and sees Bobby and Xi'an follow in after her. "Afternoon," she tells them in a bright and cheery voice. When the two resident blue-furred staffers arrive, they also are greeted warmly. "Kurt, Hank," she says with a wave towards them.

Kitty gets up to get herself a drink. "Jean," she says, smiling over to the redhead. Kitty pours herself some iced tea, the sweet one, and returns back to her seat, settling in.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo Munroe greets each as they arrive with a smile, happy to see everyone and it shows. As people settle in, collecting their snacks, she settles herself at the head of the table.

"I am aware that Jean is usually the one to conduct these meeting, however those are in a more official capacity, and often relate to specific things," Ororo begins. "I thought perhaps a less formal gathering would work as an opportunity to connect, talk about issues with students that might exist, share a little about what we have all been up to, or merely throw cookies at one another, if it comes to it. I should warn you, I will cheat." She chuckles softly and offers a bright smile.

Kurt Wagner has posed:
Flashing a grin at Kitty, Kurt lifts a hand briefly in greetings before doing the same for the rest of the gathering. And then he returns to the real priority, which is stacking his plate high with a sampling of just about everything available. Only then does he scamper back to one of the chairs pushed up against the wall, claiming his place, ready to defend it against all comers.

"Shhhh, Shhhh, you had me at throwing cookies," Kurt interjects with a grin for their hostess this evening. It is easy to forget at times just how much of their responsibilities do not revolve around going to beat up the latest costumed bad guy to make a nuisance of themselves, but educating the next generation of mutants. Hopefully they do a reasonably good job of it.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde hears Storm and then sits up a little bit. "Then I'd better load up on cookies," she says, glancing around at everyone else with a look of suspicion that is far too serious to be real.

A sip of Kitty's iced tea is consumed as she looks thoughtful. "I don't know how many know it, but Jubilee was going through a lot, in the wake of the situation at the rally in Washington DC. She used her power to stop someone from shooting other students and protestors. And... she didn't realize how powerful she could be. He survived, but was in intensive care for awhile. A lot of guilt. I think she's been working through it. We went out for ice cream so she could talk if she wanted," Kitty says.

She glances around the room. "So, not saying anyone needs to rush over, but if you get a chance to, just be there for her. If she wants to talk, great, if she doesn't, that's how some people deal with such things. Also if anyone wants to help train her a bit more now that she knows about her power, also a plus."

Xi'An Coy Manh has posed:
Shan sips her tea and contemplates her Mutant Agenda right quick. It seems like most of it was a little low-priority since only a couple of boxes at the top were circled/squared-around.

She breaks off a piece of her singular cookie, and nibbles at it. Her eyes turn towards Kitty as she says, quietly, "Ah." Not the happiest news. "It is... understandable to feel that way, but I imagine that all of us have such stories to share." Another crunch of her cookie, more melancholy and meditative now.

Bobby Drake has posed:
"Now don't go saying that, 'Roro. Someone here is forgetting about the Great Condiment Fight of 2013." Ancient history, perhaps, but there are three or four mustard stains that have never quite come out that still bear witness to that hecatomb, "And my aim has only gotten better since. But probably not as good as Kurt's" Bobby flashes the elf a grin, and then turns his attention to the front again.

He takes a sip from his tea, "Uneven power handling was sort of my thing for a while," many might remember Bobby The Snow-Drift Snowman from his early days, with unpredictable spikes and embarrassing dips in his power performance that seemed to be out of his control, "I'd love to lend a hand with her training. She's a bright kid and has a big heart, of course she'll take it hard." He had, after all, iceblocked a bully back in the day. He glances around the room, aware that many of his colleagues and friends could relate. "It's always important to let the students know they're not alone, when things like these happen."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo Munroe takes a sip of her tea, watching Kurt collect his ammunition then looks to Kitty as she speaks and listens.

"I am concerned about Jubilee's recovery as well. We can't force her to speak about it, though we all know that talking about it will make it easier in the long run. It is in fact one of the reasons I have been hesitant to bring this up, but I feel it can no longer remain seen but unspoken." She looks look around the table, to each person present. "I believe we are all aware that Noriko and Juiblee are a couple now. My concern is not their relationship, but how it looks to have an obvious couple sharing a room at the school. At the same time, I am extremely worried that separating them now would make it even harder on Jubilee, but I believe some ground rules are in need here."

Remy LeBeau has posed:
There's a sharp shriek sound in the hallway of sneakers scuffing against the floor as someone's shoes grab the ground harshly to turn them abruptly as ... "Oh... Mon ami..." The cajun labors as he pokes his nose in first and then his head with a hand up on the doorframe and he finally opens his red and black eyes with furious purpose in them as he takes another sniff of the air.

"I smelt something... gratuit!" Because of course he did. Remy slips in wearing a brown pea coat with what looks like, tuxedo tails instead of his traditional duster, the sleeves rolled up to his elbows showing that he does wear tights, or at least compression sleeves underneath. His wriggly fingers grab a baked pastery or two, maybe even a cookie as he claims an empty seat and lifts a cookie up in toast towards Ororo, "Vou pouvez continuer." Remy says, giving the floor back up to the one conducting the meeting.

Jean Grey has posed:
"You can all feel free to host them whenever you want," Jean offers back to Ororo, mistress of ceremonies, on the topic of hosting the meeting itself, grinning a little too cheefully. "Less work for meeee!" Absent the students and in the intentionally less formal setting, she's a great deal more open in her demeanor, as evidenced with her rather casually relaxed flopping into a seat once she has her food. "I'm just here for the snacks!"

A bold claim, although not one that holds up to scrutiny.

"The incident in DC was definitely hard on the students involved," she agrees with Kitty. "There've been a few things going on, but that one definitely left a mark, as far as the student mood seems to go. So anyone who feels they have a good relationship with her, it would definitely be a plus." Bobby's offer she takes as something of a segue, and pushes the whole idea a bit further: "I think some extra organized group training would be great in general. Obviously continuing any one-on-one training as necessary, but I think the team environment, of doing some of this alongside their friends, might make it feel more 'normal.'"

Apparently the last topic is one she's been dreading a bit. "I've been holding back on that but- yes, I don't think, responsibly, we can really allow that situation. We wouldn't otherwise, and we have some general dorm rules already. Their ages make it a little less clear-cut too. If they were younger students, I'd probably already have separated them. But maybe that's something to consider a little more broadly, student life issues for non-minors."

Henry McCoy has posed:
Henry listens, sipping on his coffee to get a bit of his alertness up to speed. His eyes go from Ororo to Jean, nodding in agreement. "I can almost assuredly confirm such a thing. As you both said, affairs of the heart are quite... tricky to navigate, especially with men and women of that age range. Simply splitting them up may make things into a rather large kerfuffle - and keeping them in the same room tends to send a message to other would-be-dating students."

The coffee is set down, the man nodding. "It is a very difficult situation on its own, without adding in the situation which occured in DC. I am at a loss on how to handle such a thing - then again, romantic affairs are not quite my forte."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde flashes a grin over to Bobby as he mentions the condiment fight. "As I recall there was more than one thing that resulted in yellow snow," she tells him teasingly.

The younger woman leans back in her chair and hmms quietly about the topic that Ororo brings up. "Yes, their being 18 and 19 already..." Kitty starts, before pausing and realizing she needs to take a moment either to find her words, or maybe just to work things out in her head for herself first.

"We don't always have the standard kind of ages in our classes. Someone could be 22 and taking a class, while... well, situations like Illyana, or just someone who ages faster than humans do. I do think we need to give matters a bit more thought than a standard boarding school would, is I guess what I'm saying. I'm only about 8 months older than Noriko. Is my graduating at a younger age a big difference? It... just saying it is a tough topic, yes. I'd even suggest maybe just deferring to their parents where possible. But it's not always possible. And, they are of age already at that. I'm probably not helping, am I?"

Xi'An Coy Manh has posed:
Shan purses her lips for a moment and leans back in the chair. She feels an obscure twinge of envy, but it passes. "As Jean says, they are not children in the eyes of the law... if you are concerned to have a policy, perhaps during the next term break we should remodel and say, students are expected to share quarters unless there is strong reason not to do so?"

"Of course then we will have the residence hall drama," Shan continues. Her eyes turn down to the tabletop. "Hm. Well, a swift cohabilitation is not exactly unusual," she continues, delicately. "Perhaps we should inquire with Noriko regarding how she wishes to dispose of her personal items and wardrobe?"

"I mean it has several angles here," Shan continues. "There is the reputation. There is the fairness to others, for a large student might fairly object if Noriko should have a room and a half, in essence, when we are all a little pressed for such things. And there is the consideration for the heart." To Jean, Shan says, "Perhaps we should build a new residence hall? But that has its own problems."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo Munroe continues to listen to each as they speak, but it is Shan who gets her nod.

"That was going to be my suggestion Jean, a new student dorm. The younger students would remain in the manse, while the older students could move to the new building. I do not seek to break them up, matters of the heart at tricky for us all, but even more so at their ages... and that is the issue, their ages. They are adults. So instead of punishing them for being together, we accommodate and make changes to separate them together from the majority, and any other students who might be spreading their wings into relationships for that matter.

Pausing here she looks around the table before continuing, "Perhaps it is time also, that we consider making these new dorms more like apartments, where in they must learn to take care of themselves as adults. Cooking, cleaning, doing their laundry, preparing them for the world beyond the school as well as educating them."

Kurt Wagner has posed:
You would think being a mutant would be drama enough for anyone. But go ahead and mix teenaged romance into things as well and look how it takes off! Becomes so considerably more complicated. Kurt listens quiet from his seat, snacking on his gathered treats, glancing about the room as various people speak up, raising fair points all. It is indeed a tricky situation, given that they need to find a way to accomodate all types of students... and yet still set some general guidelines and provide something of an example of expected behavior. Is a new dorm the solution to all problems? Who's to say. But at least it is some sort of solution.

"Ahhh, love conquers all," the fuzzy blue elf murmurs wryly from his seat, lips quirked into a smile.

Remy LeBeau has posed:
Remy takes a bite out of his cookie and turns his head towards Shan, who he doesn't recognize, but asks casually anyways, "What's this, DC t'ing everyone's mentioning? Ah feel like ah misst somet'in'." The cajun chews on his cookie, but lifts his free hand from his other snacks that he's casually placed in his lap to dust some crumbs from his pink shirt.

The southerner doesn't seem to be quiet about his question and then the man who seems to be the most aloof and out of the loop holds his tongue a bit longer on the solution to dealing with teen love and young relationships. Likely the one who might have the most to say about it, or expected to say about it, stays quiet, chewing on his chocolate chip cookie with pleasure. Then to Kurt he turns his gaze and lifts the half eaten cookie in a toast of agreement. "À la vôtre."

Bobby Drake has posed:
"So we create the Adulting Dorms?" Bobby says with a hint of a smile, "I like the idea, sort of prepare our little birds for what comes after they have to leave the nest. I am not entirely sure how to address the relationship side- I am famously notorious for /not/ knowing how to handle affairs of the heart, so I'm in Hank's court. But it seems to me that being respectful to their condition as adults while also creating a living space for older students to start taking on more adult responsibilities sounds like a good work around."

He chuckles at Kurt and has to be the killjoy. "Not all, elf. Love goes out the window the moment someone hogs all the covers." He takes a sip of his tea, "Well, so I have heard, anyways."

Jean Grey has posed:
"Its really about the -housing-," Jean ultimately stresses, nodding along with Xi'an's assessment of some of the issues. "I think best approach might be to think a little more about it on the whole, so we're not singling them out, even if they've obviously incited us to think about it." She lifts a hand (that happens to hold a little pastry), to gesticulate: "At a college dorm, no one would blink an eye, even if there might be a policy somewhere. But that's also because everyone there is generally the same age. Here, we could have younger students living in adjoining units, which is more of a concern."

She glances over at Kitty, and at Ororo. "That was my thought, or something along those lines anyway, the actual logistics would take some considering. But basically, designate housing that's for minor students only, with the sort of stricter rules you'd expect given we're serving in loco parentis. But then designate some other general housing that would be available for older students, as well as residents and guests who might not fit at the mansion, which... answers another minor issue we've run into on occasion. We could even charge rent - most schools do - although obviously subsidized where necessary."

She glances around. "Under that rubric, I don't think giving her a 'better' room would be as much drama, as it would be something any student could expect once they got old enough. We already have some minor college overlap with older students and advanced classes, so it seems reasonable."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo Munroe again looks around the table, but this time her eyes fall on Jean. "You have enough on your plate to deal with, running the entire school and so much more beyond that. I would like to let you know, here and now, that should a new adulting dorm be built. I will take on the responsibilities as matron of that building, and helping the students who choose to move there begin the steps to spreading their wings."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
"Yes, I think maybe given they are both of age, maybe just leave their situation be and instead focus on how to avoid it with the students who are minors," Kitty suggests. "Also I think given what Jubilee is going through, Nori's presence is probably a good thing for her. She hasn't been leaving her room as much as normal. I don't want to take away her support," the young woman and part-time guidance counselor suggests.

She glances over towards Henry McCoy. "Also we might want to discuss Kassandra's situation. If there's anything else we need to do to make sure she's integrating ok, and that her power doesn't cause issues. I'm not so much worried about anything harmful happening. But I don't want an incident that leaves other students freaked out. Being a teen is hard enough without that kind of issue making it difficult to fit in."

Xi'An Coy Manh has posed:
"Yes, relationship counselling seems beyond my own ken," Shan says with a whiff of a sigh, "but it would seem reasonable enough, and it would be easy to defend as an educational institution. Of course even then we must face the probability of an ever expanding demand, given the cost of housing, but! Such things are the fault of others."

"No, that is true," Shan does say to Bobby as she turns a page on her Mutant Agenda and starts doodling. "Age segregation would make sense. This could also be within the mansion proper, you think? And the new building could be just adjacent. Perhaps we should ask that architect Mme Frost had hired for her hotel?"

Shan also explains to Remy parenthetically, and in French, "<A riot in Washington. Her powers hurt a human man, they were before this only lights. Several weeks ago, but you know how it is.>"

Henry McCoy has posed:
After a moment, Henry nods. "I think a 'senior' dorm would be appropriate - for our older students. And I think the idea of getting them situated in a domicile that requires more responsibilities would be a good thing for preparing them for the outside world." The Beast smiles. "I think it would be an elegant solution and allow for future situations to be more readily addressed." A nod.

Looking to Kitty, Henry sits up a bit. "Kassandra is doing well - I think it's telling that she wants to be a part of things, going so far as to offer to bring everyone together for dinners regularly. She's working on her control of her powers - it tends to be fairly well under wraps, save when she sleeps." The doctor explains. "As her gifts are more mentally focused, I'd love some ideas on shoring up her subconcious control so that when she does sleep, she's not accidentally projecting the images." There's a tap to his chin. "I also... had a rather disturbing realization in regards to the tears she emits. The... people who had her under wraps previously, were using these secretions to create the drugs they were pedalling." A slight frown. "I need to analyze the substance more, though."

Remy LeBeau has posed:
"<In Washington?!>" Remy repeats in French before pouting his lower lip out and canting his head, impressed by the story it seems. The man finishes his cookie and looks back to Jean, and then to Ororo with a hint of his teeth flashing in the smile he shares with the ladies, but that fades away as the topic shifts again to something else the street rat missed out on as well, so, again, the hoodlum stays silent, not sharing his heart or feelings.

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar lets the conversation go on around him, he smiles and nods but says little. He does have a pair of manilla folders with his class grades and notes so far for the semester. He still seems out of place like a kid at the grown ups table.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Lockheed gives a flap of his wings, propelling him over to the table. He grabs a bit of rolled up meat from the one tray, and grabs a cookie in a paw before flying back over to Kitty. She reaches up for the cookie as he drops it into her hand then lands on her shoulder. "Thank you pal," she tells the little dragon. They didn't say anything but then he often seems to know what's going on in her head.

Kitty nods slowly as she listens to Henry's update on Kassandra. "Well, it's not my specialty," Kitty says, as she looks to Jean and then Xi'an, "But maybe having one of you guys, or the Professor, go into her dreams and help her learn control inside of them would be helpful?" She looks to them both to let them judge if that's a good way to help Kassandra.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo Munroe sits back in her chair, then folds her legs up with her crossed out of habit, getting comfortable. She takes a moment for another drink of tea, and nibbles at one of the cookie she claimed, lost in thought.

"I have seen how Kassandra's powers work, witnessed the flow of energies around her as she reveals images and memories from the item she holds. The memories are also strands." She muses outloud then looks to Hank. "The dreams she projects, are they her own, or also memories from objects she has touched in the past? I cannot help to control them, but I can perhaps help to understand how they manifest and thus in this way determine how best to approach helping her control them."

Bobby Drake has posed:
"Subconscious bogeys in the closet can be a big part of unstable power manifestations. Speaking from personal experience," Bobby says, finishing up his tea, "So telepathic stuff might be a good idea in this case. You know, we might consider also bringing a counselor on board. While Jeanie and the Professor can poke around inside someone's mind when things get really bad and for serious cases, we really should consider adding someone students can trust on the day-to-day to keep minor things from stagnating and becoming major things in the long term."

"Also an option for students who aren't as comfortable with others sharing their thought-spaces."

Jean Grey has posed:
"Job's all yours," Jean tells Ororo (regarding her would-be role as 'adult house matron', not this new proposition), agreeing with an ease and willingness that might approach being suspicious. She does not want more work on her plate! "Although I think the idea would be that they wouldn't need too much oversight, so you'd probably be more like a landlord than a resident advisor or house mother." She pauses, then quickly ammends: "This is planning stages anyway. I don't know if we'll need to do new construction or if some simple re-arrangement of floors and wings might work. I'll speak with Charles, see what he thinks." Even if she runs the school, it's still his family home - and a gift they can hardly take for granted.

On to other things, it seems. "What do you think?" she wonders, turning from Kitty to Xi'an. "I prefer leaving myself as the 'last resort,' if I can. What do you think about working with her? It'd be training to get her powers under control, and teacher training for you, hmm?" Ororo's description of the unusual nature of the young woman's power draws her attention back. "You both can, of course. We don't entirely know what she's dealing with, so a whollistic approach is probably best."

Bobby's suggestion draws a bit of a worrisome smirk. Why? "We offer a bit of it already, Kitty and I, but if you want to volunteer to be another good listener..."

Xi'An Coy Manh has posed:
Shan blinks several times at Kitty's words. She seems to hesitate for a second. Then, with a lift of her cup of iced tea, she says, "I would be glad to do so. Though-- I hope you will check my work, Jean!" She sips her tea, giving Gambit an eyebrow lift as if to say 'inorite?' about Washington antics.

"Of course we would need her cooperation as well... or at least, her assent." Shan shifts a little to ask Henry, "When you say tears, do you mean as in disturbances of her powers, or... literally, from the eyes?"

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo Munroe enjoys another drink of her tea as the talking continues, listening intently to each as they take a turn. To jean she comments, "I was assuming of course more of a land lady, watcher, and the person to go do should they need assistance of help."

Her eyes move on to Shan now, "Actual tears. I have a bandana in plastic in my room that she wore while demonstrating her abilities. They have dried by now, but they are actual black tears."

And now on to in general, "I have had no training in psychology, nor to do I know anyone who has, but I do think an actual trains psychologist or therapist would be a good addition. Jubilee should be seeing someone to talk these things out, and most Universities and schools do have counselors that students are required to speak to."

Henry McCoy has posed:
"Her powers are simply tied to the actions and things that have occured with and around the objects she reads. They aren't hers - it's more of a history of the item in question. She did mention that more personal items tend to give off stronger visuals, or more information. It would seem to be a near invaluable ability, in investigating various activities, crimes or mysteries." Henry explains to Ororo.

To Xi'an, he smiles. "When her powers are active, her eyes emit a black liquid. It is from this liquid, that I believe the bastards who were holding her were cococting their drugs. As I said though, I will need more study of the drug samples and liquid samples I have."

A grin to Remy. "Washington DC had a rather large... incident with anti-mutant people. One that involved a few of our students. Jubiliee was forced to react, in saving Noriko's life. She greiviously injured a man, and is dealing with the guilt that can often come with such an act."

Remy LeBeau has posed:
"Ah miss all de fun." Remy complains sarcastically towards Hank before he stands up and takes his last doughnut in hand so he can clap the table top with his palm as he rises.

"All dis trynna t'control teens stuff is for de birds. 'Specially if dey in love." Remy says before moving the doughnut up into his mouth and holds it between his teeth so he can clasp his hands onto Ororo's shoulder and gives her a soulful look into her eyes.

With the accent and the doughnut it's hard to understand for even himself, "Ah wish you luck, an' if'n ya need mah help, aks." Remy then winks and moves towards the door. Hefting his doughnut in a salute to the crew, "Latah nerds." And he slips back out knowing he can't help them in any true sense of the word.

Bobby Drake has posed:
"'Roro has hit the nail on the head. We can provide listening, but there are things that need someone trained in dealing with things like trauma." He frowns, "Jubilee should be seeing someone. So should Julio following some of the run-ins with demons and somesuch that he's had... let's face it, just because some of us got by by toughing it, it doesn't mean our students should. No matter how perfectly well-adapted I may have turned out in the end," He says with a smirk. As Remy gets up and does his bon voyage, he gives him a little wave. he can't return a donut salute because he hasn't gotten himself a donut. Yet. 5r

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar frowns, and nods slowly considering. He catches Kitty's eye, "l can talk with her, I agree with Bobby not just me but... lets face it. Ive been the biggest black sheep in school history. He smiles mirthlessly. "Sometimes it helps to see someone else who made it through, and sometimes it takes a monster."

Jean Grey has posed:
"Of course!" Jean reassures Shan. "And if you do end up needing help, I'm only a thought away." There are certain conveniences, among their smaller sorority of psychics and related practioners.

Remy's departure earns a lifted hand and finger-wiggled goodbye, before it's back to the chit-chat. There, she gives a somewhat heavier sigh. "Charles and I both have the education, but mine isn't in clinical and both of us have a lot of responsibilities already- we can look about hiring someone, but that's a matter of finding someone who's interested in working at the school. In the mean time, I think anyone who wants to volunteer to help with counseling," she gives Bobby another _look_ since he brought it up, "Can talk to Kitty about splitting some of her schedule. I'm sure she'd appreciate the assistance."

Xi'An Coy Manh has posed:
"That must have been terrifying for her, the first time," Shan says to Henry even if the rest is pretty... well; straightforward is the wrong word, but she nods along. "Ah yes, a psychometric ability. That has some logic to it." She jots down a quick note.

Remy departs, and Shan tilts her head after him once he is clear and probably can't hear. "He has a point but you do have to /try/, I mean if not for all of you I would be dead, in crime, or both at once." Scribble scribble.

"I did have something come up in the library the other afternoon, this one does not involve spending money," Shan adds. "Several students were curious about the building trades, after everything. I am not sure how to proceed on this one, though of course it is laudable to see."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Standing to collect some of the cheese, Ororo stretches her legs a little by walking around as the talking continues. She seems to be lost in her own thoughts, or perhaps she's checking the weather in Vienna, you never know.

"Kitty, if you will go over your schedule, I am more and willing to assist you, but as for Jubilee," she looks to James. "I think it might be a good idea for you to speak to her. Apparently I can be... daunting?" She offers a smile, remembering James' reaction when she joined the small group to help with his most recent mission. "Jubilee needs to speak to someone, she needs to get it out so she can start healing."

Henry McCoy has posed:
There's a nod to Xi'an. "Yes, she was at a party as I understand. Took up something that was ... tied to a war. All of a sudden, all the people were in the midst of a battle, people dying around them, gunfire - all the horrors of modern war." A slight frown. "The images projected supercede what is around you in the real world. People scattered, terrified - there were injuries from the others running into furniture, windows, that sort of thing." A shake of his head.

"She's had it rough, something I am certain we are all too familiar with on a personal level. I think she's doing well, now. I think she's settling in - having a place to feel normal is important."

Bobby Drake has posed:
"Daunting isn't the word so much as... having a regal presence?" Bobby smiles, getting the hint from the Jean-glance "And I'll be more than happy to pitch in and help Kitty out. Especially if it means she'll spend a little less time with her face buried in that tablet. I'm thinking about your poor eyes, Kitty."

He stands up to get himself some cheese as well, Ororo putting the idea in his mind, "I second the idea of you talking to her, James. I think it will do her a lot of good..." he trails off at Hank's description of the vivid projected images. He shakes his head, "Poor kid." He glances around the room and ponders what it must be like to be able to peer into the history of... well, everything, bit by bit. It's a little overwhelming.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
The request for her schedule gets a smile from Kitty flashed back over to Ororo. "Sure thing. It kind of varies from week to week by what's happening at JVD. But I've been managing about two days here a week at the minimum. I'm also trying to make sure my hours are good there so if I have an extended absence to do X-men things, I have good will built up."

Kitty finally gets to eating the cookie that Lockheed brought her. Chocolate chip. She breaks off pieces to eat rather than biting into the whole cookie.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo Munroe procures another piece of cheese or two, then moves back to sit down.

"Did anyone else have anything they wished to talk about? James will be talking to Jubilee, Jean will be talking to Charles, Shan and Hank will continue to work with Kassandra, which I am also willing to continue helping with. Kitty will be sharing her schedule with Bobby and I so we can assist her. Did I miss anything?"

Henry McCoy has posed:
There's a tap of a claw on the table from Henry. "I just heard recently about a... situation with Julian and Gabby? And some ... rather disturbing situations regarding his parents?" He looks around to the others, James included. "I think it bears some monitoring and investigation - it is most certainly far outside the realm of my expertise. It is of a more mystic nature."

Xi'An Coy Manh has posed:
"Oh, is that the heart eating thing from Hawaii?" Shan asks Henry.

She takes a moment to look at her cup of iced tea for several seconds after saying that.

"He had mentioned it offhandedly to me - I took it in stride, but... well. Perhaps I was being a little too easy going. Where do his parents become involved?"

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo Munroe blinks one, just about to take a sip of tea but now the cup gets set down. "Excuse me, what?" She voices. "Heart eating?" She looks to Hank now for some sort of explanation.

Jean Grey has posed:
"It sounds like we've worked through a decent set of topics," Jean notes, after spending a few moments quiet while she eats. She really was pretty hungry. And it's with a little kilbasa slice raised to her lips that she catches that last bit and blinks once or twice. Then she... continues eating, doing the whole chew and swallow before she speaks up again. It's an X-school. Weird is par for the course, but some things are weirder than others.

"I hadn't heard," she admits. "Is this a threat in terms of some entity from his past that would be a danger, or more a matter of prior emotional baggage?" She may seem a little blase, but there's certain responsibilities she has to prioritize: and security tends to rank high.

Henry McCoy has posed:
The Beast shakes his head at Xi'an's question. "No, though that is concerning. I advised him that I'd like for him to speak to a mentor who understands the mystical arts. I was hoping to introduce him to the Scarlet Witch or Doctor Strange." A slight frown at that. "More recently, as I understnd, a rescue party of sorts went to rescue his soul. Apparently, his parents sold his soul at birth for financial success. Several of our students and friends went to resolve this, and in doing so - rescued him. However, I have a concern as someone advised they were able to do so by... offering up a part of their own soul."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
That was a lot for one topic, heart eating, soul selling, possible soul negotiation. Ororo holds her piece of cheese while she runs that around in her head a few times.

"I may be able to the energy strands linking the someone who may have offered up a piece of their own soul in exchange. These sorts of energies have a power that link one to another, and thus I should be able to see it."

Xi'An Coy Manh has posed:
Shan takes this in. It takes enough time that she murmurs, "excuse me" as she gets up and has to ooch past Jean to get herself another cupful of iced tea. "Well," she continues, "when I spoke to him about it, his primary concern was that his magical abilities, or mutant abilities, had affected a history textbook and that I was going to reave his soul for it... I told him it was a mass market text, so it was not a problem, which I think eased him."

"The textbook is in the exhibit case in the first story of the library if that's going to help anyone," Shan adds. "Do you know who is affected by this... soul exchange...?"

Bobby Drake has posed:
"So... in effect, we have a group of students who are missing some soul-chunks..." he immediately stops himself from asking who were ivolved. He might have a few guesses. He stands up and grabs himself /two/ teas, and sits back down. He gulps one down almost immediately. "That's not going to bode well."

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar frowns, "We did what needed to be done. We were all aware of the dangers and we did what was needed to help our friend. Tell me ANYONE here would have done differentky. This was right after the Sinister situation we were all run ragged.

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean Grey scooches too, leaning just enough to make a little room for Shan, looking sideways with a quick grin. It's only when she's done all that and gone back to talking about the textbook that things all seem to click for her. "Oh! This is -that- book." Apparently she had heard about it, albeit from some other angle. "I'm with Hank, largely. Actually, I think it's the same thing I said when Shan mentioned the book to me: this is the sort of thing we're lucky enough to have friends for. The good Doctor or Wanda would both be good contacts to bring in, if there's any concerns beyond what we can handle in-house."

Then she glances at James, and shakes her head. "I don't think there's any blame here, just concern. I can't speak to mystic laws or what might have been necessary. I trust everyone did their best. But that doesn't absolve any consequences that might have been incurred- for that, I think, we'd be well advised to seek some assistance, if it proves a problem."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Turning her head slowly to look at James, Ororo takes a moment to truly /look/ at him. For the briefest of moments there is a faint glow to her pale blue eyes as she looks him over, head to toe, but really not seeing him as a man any more.

Too her eyes he is a flow of colored energies intermingling together to form the entity known as James. Life energies were the strongest in all living things, but all other energies of the world had their own colors and couldn't be hidden from her.

Henry McCoy has posed:
There's a nod to James. "I am not bringing this up to have lectures doled out, or cause anyone trouble. I am concerned, however, as there are people I care about who have dabbled in an area I have zero understanding of. It sounds dangerous, and I want to be sure our people are all right." He says, honestly. "No blame, no yelling. We /all/ have made choices, to help friends, that were dangerous for us all." He clarifies, looking to each of them.

"The only one I am aware of that may have offered over bits of their soul, is Gabby. I would wish to have Julian looked into as well, to make sure he was helped by the situation and this wasn't some sort of ruse or trick from an otherworldly thing. If it is a devil or demon, all the folklore is rather damning when it comes to their ability to lie and further place people in peril."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo blinks a few times, then finally takes that cheese bite she'd been holding and looks to the others around the table. "I personally am placing no blame for anything that occurred, dangerous though it may be. We have all had moment in our lives that we were forced to make decision we may later regret, but we can only do the best we can at the time it is happening." She offers James a smile at this and a nod, she gets it.

"Who do we suspect offered a piece of their soul in exchange? It would be wise to bring in a specialist of course, but I can determine the strength of the link before they arrive."

Bobby Drake has posed:
"No blame here- my priority is to find out if there is anything we can do to help them get those soul-chunks back. Ideally without other people losing theirs. I don't understand magic, I'm a boring math nerd. This is more Illy's bread and butter... but we really should get more magical people on speed dial in case the Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange are off... you know." he waves his fingers in the air, "Being magical. Does anyone here have magic ties that we could tap into that we're not aware of?" he asks, looking around the room.

Xi'An Coy Manh has posed:
"I think I went out with a Wiccan once, but it wasn't a very positive experience," Shan says to Bobby. "Other than that -- it's Illyana; that is it, for me."

Inwardly, she reflects. What is there to be said about souls? That sensation, that one, horrible time... She closes her eyes, and opts to pick up a slice of smoked sausage afterwards, placing it emphatically upon a cracker. "We could go looking for consultants, I suppose. Will that stretch the budget...?"

Jean Grey has posed:
"The League has magic-users as well," Jean suggests. "Zatanna and I are on friendly enough terms. As it stands, though, it sounds like we're talking ourselves into a lot of worry without knowing what exactly the situation is. I haven't heard of anything problematic regarding Gabby, outside the usual trouble students get up to." Translation: Scott gives everyone detention, now and then. "So I think a check-up sounds like the most logical next step, and we go from there. Illyana is our resident expert in demon things, so that's probably your first stop. And then to an outside consult- I think honestly any of them would do, so it's just a matter of who's currently on our plane of existence." A nod to the earlier 'being magical' remark, perhaps!

"Fortunately, Shan, as Doctors go, Strange tends to be pretty affordable." That is a joke, whether or not it entirely comes through as the woman worries over the budget. "Wanda and Zatanna are friends, they'll help us if they can." She looks around, and then back to Ororo, since she's running the meeting.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo Munroe nods to Jean, then again looks around the table. "Does anyone have anything else they would like to bring up before the cookie fight breaks out?"

Ororo Munroe has posed:
One more look around around the table and Ororo nods, picks up a cookie and throw it at Kitty. "Meeting over."

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar stands slowly, reasonably, "I get that you're all worried about us, and yes dealing with demons and their ilk is dangerous but this is the iife we've chosen. All of us. Hank, I get that facing the unknown scares you, I'm terrified every time I step through a portal but she asks and I go. You want an expert on Demons, you think there are four people on this plane who know more about this than Yana? Talk to her first."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
A cookie bounces off Kitty's head. "Hey!" she says, then breaks out laughing. Lockheed hops down to eat the cookie. NO worry about crumbs with him around.
