A problem shared is a problem that winds up on Jeans desk.
Date of Scene: 26 March 2021
Location: Back Yard
Synopsis: Ororo, James, Jimmy and Talia try to enjoy a nice sunny day only to have Laura spoil it somewhat by turning up with a dossier full of information about N.O.W.H.E.R.E
Cast of Characters: Ororo Munroe, Jimmy Hudson, Laura Kinney, Talia Wagner, James Proudstar, Henry McCoy

Ororo Munroe has posed:
It is a beautiful day, whether it was supposed to be or not. Ororo wanted some sunshine and a little warmth, so for the time being there is not a cloud in the sky. She is walking barefoot through the grass, wearing a summer dress, long white hair flowing freely in the very slight breeze. Sometimes controlling the weather had it's perks.

Jimmy Hudson has posed:
Jimmy was taking advantage of the weather on the basketball court. He comes into the backyard from that direction wearing shorts, sneakers and pulling on a T-shirt while juggling a basketball from hand to hand. He finally gets the shirt on and heads over to one of the chairs, putting down the basketball and sitting down.

Laura Kinney has posed:
It's rare for Laura Kinney to stop by at Xavier's, usually it means she's here to retrive something that Gabby has borrowed or on X-Force business, and today it seems like it's a business trip. As she slinks out of the woods (Logans extended family rarely coming or going via the front gate no matter how often people ask them to) with file tucked under her arm.

Of course given her build it'd be easy enough to mistake her for a student at first glance. A simple black hoodie, grey-black pants and matching sneakers. Her head down out of a habitual desire to avoid cameras.

And of course a lack of weapons. That's one request she actually seems to have listened to.

Talia Wagner has posed:
A warm spring day is super nice.

Talia isn't entirely sure yet if this is Storm's doing or not. Not like she is going to narc on her or anything if this is what she choose to do with her powers today.

Frankly that is how one gets rained on.

So the velvety blur furred mutant is wearing a pair of black gym shorts, sunglasses, and a black sports bra while laying out in a deck chair and just sunning like a damn blue cat while the sunshine and heat lasts.

Basking time.

When James comes over she ticks her sunglasses down watching him wiht those yellow eyes approaching. Lot going on in that look.

Then she is glancing over at Laura as she approaches from the woods, lifting a three fingered hand in a light wave.

James Proudstar has posed:
Some go sunning on a beautiful day, some play sports or just take in the breeze. James comes up from the lake. He's been swimming. He's wearing his usual bathing suit, wrapped in a towel with a knife strapped to his leg. His hair is tied back in an intricate warriors braid. He's picking lake plants from under his finger nails with a long sigh. "Anyone mind if I light up the fire pit?" He calls as he walks towards the seating area.

Henry McCoy has posed:
Warm day! It's like a siren's song - a nice day. Henry had stepped out of his lab, eschewing work for the time being in favor of enjoying the spring season. Whether or not it is naturally occuring, makes no nevermind to him. He steps out from the mansion, taking in a deep breath to scent the air. The heat from the sun feels lovely on his dark fur, the Beast just basking in the light for the moment.

A pause as he looks around and notes those who have had similar ideas. A wave is offered over to everyone. "Afternoon all - glorious day, yes?"

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Staring up into the pure azure, Ororo seems content and lost in her own little world. She is pleased to hear others in the area enjoying the day, too many chilly days had kept people inside and that wasn't good at all. She didn't see Laura or James arrive, but she could hear them, so she pulls herself out of her world to look around.

Laura is offered a wave, Ororo happy to see no weapons.

James is looked over with a slight grin, after all she's a woman and he's being sporty.

Talia is offered a smile because she is enjoying the day properly, by being lazy in the sun.

James well, he almost gets stared at because come on... bathing suit /and/ wet. That's too hard to resist! "Not at all James, let me know if you need more of a breeze or less," she offers with a smile, then tears her eyes off of him.

Now her attention goes to Hank, and that is the direction she starts walking as she says, "Afternoon all. I was tired of cloudy, cold days." Once she reaches Hank she offers a bright smile, "I see I got you to come outside as well."

Talia Wagner has posed:
Talia says with a bit of sarcastic mirth. "Oh no... don't light up a fire ... not that.. anything but that..."

Yeah she absolutely has zero issue with basking in sunshine and also having a fire nearby.

Warmssss

Over to Ororo she casts a "Just keep the sunshine and warms coming ... this is just decadent and part of me is expecting it to be ruined at absolutely any moment.. but I'm enjoying it while it lasts for sure."

Jimmy Hudson has posed:
Jimmy waves to Talia as she watches him approach the seating area, then kicks back on one of the loungers, rolling the basketball under it. At Hank's greeting, he nods and replies, "Yeah, I could get used to this, I think."

Watching Laura and James approach, he raises a hand in greeting, then stretches and grins at Talia, "I'm forced to agree, warm is good." A look to Ororo, "Oh, this is on you? Well, thanks. I think I can live with it if you want to give us nice weather."

Laura Kinney has posed:
Laura Kinney glances around, sniffs the air a few times, then nods from under her hoodie. Of course a lack of weapons is really not a huge deal breaker for her. Anything can be a weapon if you have the right training and a lot of imagination.

Plus you know. Claws.

"Good day everyone," she greets. Waiting until she's close enough to speak without raising her voice. "It seems you are engaging in... recreational activities." She tilts her head a fraction. "So I won't go into much detail about why precisely I'm here. I just wished to drop off some intel regarding a potential threat the school should be aware of."

Ah yes. The other reason she stops by. To deliver bad news.

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar smiles and goes over to the spigot to was his his hands of the lake gunk. He stands and noting the general approval, he nods and gets to work on building the fire in the firepit. HIs gaze lingers on Talia for a moment, half expecting the girl to shrink up and disappear like she has every other time they've been in the same space for more than a minute. He hasn't bothered with a shirt yet. He smiles up at Laura and nods, "Mortal Peril it is." He shades his face and nods towards the 'teachers'. James will of course hear you wherever you are in this space but protocol being what it is.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
A nod is offered to Jimmy, as well as a smile, "Yes, this is on me. It will last until this evening, then we will have a little ran and it will be chilly again to compensate," Ororo explains. "I am merely ready for spring to be here now, but the weather pattern is altered by pollution more and more every year, so for one day we will have spring, then return to waiting for it to get here on its own."

Everything else that Ororo had been about to say is gone, she turns her attention fully to look at Laura, eyes faintly glowing due to the weather control.

"I think perhaps that is something to deal with sooner, rather than later, Laura. What threat are you referring to then, or should we go inside and get the others for this?

Henry McCoy has posed:
Out of the lab indeed. "Thank you, then. The warmth is appreciated, Ororo. It's a perfect day for spring. Well worth getting out and about and enjoying the world." Henry comments, looking over to the Storm Goddess. A grin to Talia, chuckling. "Feels good, right? Soaking in the sun?"

A smile to Jimmy, James and Laura.

There's a pause at the commentary from Laura, about things needing tended. "Is everything all right?"

Talia Wagner has posed:
And some people might think that Talia's earlier pessimism was unfounded. See. See people.

She grins though at Jimmy and then looks over at Laura and lets out a slow sigh. "Is it eminent threat... like afternoon ruining and dire... or something we just need to get on top of and kick in the teeth soon... ish?"

The important questions really.
She seems to be pointedly ignoring James though at this point. Well other than encouraging him to build the fire like that. Her sunglasses dipped back down as she suns herself.

Behind the dark lens though she is watching him closely.

Laura Kinney has posed:
"It's not an immediate threat. More an ongoing situation that I thought the school should be aware of," Laura explains with a shrug. "I've been operating in Gotham recently." Never a good start. "And a group called N.O.W.H.E.R.E. recently burnt down a juvenile detention center. We suspect they kidnapped any mutant or metahuman children inside first."

She glances around and shrugs again.

"While intervening one of the cyborgs carrying out the attack seemed to recognise me," Another pause and no sign she's going to explain who 'we' refers to. "At this point I don't know if they are after mutants in general. So I thought the school should be made aware. At the least students should not be travelling to Gotham alone in the near future."

Still Laura doesn't seem especially concerned for her own safety.

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar builds the fire methodically, a base of kindling, smaller branches lighter branches, he puts it together and puts a little fire starter into the tinder so it will catch right off. He blows a few times soft steady breathes and then pulls his face way. The fire takes and grows on its own, like a small animal it prowls around and makes soft noises, in a few moments we can start to feel the heat and the the light. James sits back in on of the chairs and watches it cautiously, looking from the fire to Laura to Storm and Hank.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo frowns deeply. There were many things about Laura's explanation that did not make her happy, so she would begin with the first and move through them in order.

"What does N.O.W.H.E.R.E. stand for? Why were their mutants in a juvenile detention center? Do you have any idea where they are now, the group or the mutants, or perhaps both? Who were you working with? Who recognized you and when should I get the black bird ready?" All of this is said calmly, no rush to the questions, but there is a definite indication that she will keep asking if needed.

Talia Wagner has posed:
Talia pinches the bridge of her nose, which could just be adjusting her sunglasses. "Well, never heard of any NOWHERE but there are lots of odditities around these parts in my experience so far." she sprawls a little more like she is absolutely maximizing her soaking up of sunshine and heat before someone decides they need to all rush off and kick a cyborg in the face.

Which honestly is inevitable at this point.

"I mean the real questions are the basics. Who are they. What do they want. Where are they. Like Ororo said." sort of. "Maybe Hank can check his fancy Avengers access to see if anyone has any intel on them."

Henry McCoy has posed:
The Beast listens, having found a spot to perch for the moment as he lets the warm sun beam down on him. "They recognized you... who?" He wonders. "To second Ororo's question, that is." A scratch to his chin. He's not diving into action quite yet. "Have the heroes in Gotham been made aware? I can always ask with the Avengers, though it might be that they are new?" A slight shrug. "Cyborgs... perhaps future travelers?"

Jimmy Hudson has posed:
Jimmy Hudson chuckles, "You sure you don't just want to write those down and give her a test paper? That is a lot of questions in a little space." He looks over to Laura, "Guess the important one is have you got any idea what they did with the kids? If there were mutants, maybe *ahem* _someone_ here can track them down and give us a target."

He glances over as Talia sprawls and shakes his head, "You do look comfy. Sure you're not solar powered or something?" A quick glance over as James builds the fire, which seems to go just fine, then he sits up a little, "Well, sounds like quiet times may be over, I hate to hear about kids being put in danger like that."

Laura Kinney has posed:
Laura Kinney tilts her head at Ororo and blinks. "We don't know. It's Gotham I assume they were involved in crimes. If we had locations I'd be there not here." A pause. As if she's recalling the sequence of questions. "That's classified. One of the cyborgs involved in the raid said my codename from my former.. ah.. 'profession' but they died as a result of a remote kill switch and were then engulfed in the fire. Hard to say if it was someone on site who knew me or someone watching remotely."

Her foot taps a few times. "As for when you should be ready.. I have no idea. You could ask a precog though if you have one available." She looks over to Hank. "If Doctor McCoy would be able to check the Avengers records that would be helpful. My associates in Gotham have done some digging and everything we can share is included in this file."

She holds up the bundle of documents wrapped in paper. "We don't think it was time travel related. Black ops group most likely. And yes the vigilante community in Gotham have been made aware." If the burning building wasn't a big enough clue!

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar offers a hand to take the file and gives Laura an easy grin, "Has Gotham not gone digital?" He leafs through the pages, "Extradimensional? There's been a rash of that recently. We stopped a platoon on the other side of the lake, like a month ago.
James looks over at Storm and Hank, "Recognizing a professional isn't necessarily targeting mutants and it doesn't sound like the children in the detention center were mutants?" He stands up and walks around the fire to hand the file to Storm. This doesn't feel like a today problem, but another to go on the smoldering pile that is the future. "How much should we tell Gabby?" Jim looks from Hank to Laura. "And I guess we should issue a travel advisory for Gotham as well as DC?"

Talia Wagner has posed:
"I definitely like sunshine and all, though I am blue furred not green furred." she kids back to Jimmy there as she sprawls eyes closed once more.

"Doubtful they are extradimensional, way more important things than a juvie center... even one with some metahumans or mutants amongst the teens."

"James is right though, travel advisory and intel gathering. We don't even know there are mutants in the mix."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo accepts the file to look over, going through the pages carefully. "I will ensure that Jean gets this," she comments as she goes, pausing here and there to read the information.

"It may not have been a direct target of mutant children, but children in general, either way it is not acceptable." This is more a musing out loud than meant to anyone specifically. "I am quite certain Hank is willing to use his contacts for more information if needed. Thank you Laura."

Laura Kinney has posed:
Laura Kinney nods to James. "That's correct. I don't know if they were interested in me because I was a mutant or because of past deed," she admits. A slight roll of her eyes. "Computers leave traces. Anyway we did not get chance to see who was taken, simply that they are after mutants and metahumans, as they were already in the process of cleaning the site when we arrived. It was a general purpose facility though, not purely intended to hold mutants or metas."

Checking the file or the news reports will show that 'cleaning the site' does not mean dusting and vaccuming the carpets.

"Knowing Gabby if you tell her too much she will involve herself and as she could potentially be mistaken for me... I would rather not put her in additional danger." She scowls. "But that being said I expect she will find out eventually...  You would be best using your professional judgement as educators." In other words please make this your problem not mine.

Jimmy Hudson has posed:
Jimmy nods, "Yeah, I don't know that we need to involve the younger kids in this right now. Give it to Jean, she can decide what needs to be done besides discouraging travel to Gotham until we know more. This isn't exactly a 'share with the whole school' situation." He shrugs, "Least that's how it seems to me. I'll leave those decisions up to the more senior members of the staff." He gestures in Ororo's direction.

He grins, "After all, I'm just the gym teacher."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
A slow shake her head and Ororo closes the file, "No. This is not something the younger students need to know about. Travel to Gotham will be restricted to with adult chaperone or not at all most likely, if Jean doesn't want to take it even further and say no travel there until this matter is resolved."

Tucking the file under her arm to hold, she seems to ponder the information, though the weather does stay nice and sunny. "If no one else wants to take a look, I will take this to Jean's office and leave it on her desk and return."

Talia Wagner has posed:
"Also unless things are very different around here... anything we do in Gotham should be done very cauitiously. Don't the Batclan and associated Vigilantes really get." hmmm ... hmmm "Territorial?"

There that is diplomatic right?

"I'm game to help Ororo, let Jean know?"

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar stops in his paces as the phrase 'James is right' is uttered in this institution for perhaps the fourth time in its history. He tilts his head and regards the blue furred young woman, with a small grins, "Thank you, Talia was it? You're from another dimension your self. right?" James listens, you'd be amazed what people just up and say." James looks at up to give Laura her the seriously? traces? Look at her response.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo Munroe offers a nod to Talia, "It will be up to Jean what action, if any, is taken and who will be involved, but I will let her know you are available."

With that, she heads into the mansion, though she did say she would be back. It is her sunny day after all.

Talia Wagner has posed:
"Thanks Ororo."

Talia glances back to James and then nods. "Yes. Where I'm from Kurt is my dad and older. Though I haven't been home in years..."

There is a long pause.

"Multiverse is very odd... but I seem stuck here for now... so I am trying to do my very best to settle in and be useful... while enjoying not being on the move constantly. It has honestly been kind of like a vacation and has left me feeling pretty guilty at times."

Laura Kinney has posed:
Laura Kinney gives James a blandly indifferent look. It's unlikely to be a secret to X-Force that Laura avoids leaving any traces whenever possible. Burner cellphones, cash payments and dozens of fake IDs. The only records she exists are in connection with some very serious crimes. So perhaps it's natural she doesn't want to leave any electronic trails.

It's not paranoia if people really are hunting you.

She tries to give Talia a re-assuring smile. "There's nothing wrong with taking a break sometimes." It looks more like she has toothache and is repeating a line someone else said to her in the past that didn't stick.

"Anyway thank you all for your assistance with this matter. If you do venture into Gotham I have contacts who can make the local crime fighters aware." She looks over at the school, then up at the sky. "Perhaps I will follow the same advice and stop for a short while. Perhaps check in with Gabby if she is not busy. Apparantly she attended a party disguised as me recently..."

Jimmy Hudson has posed:
Jimmy shrugs at Talia, "You can always help me with PE if you want. Wouldn't hurt to have another set of eyes on the kids, especially in some of the more energetic activities. And you'd have something to do that doesn't exactly take up all of your free time or anything."

He glances up at Ororo leaves, "Hope this doesn't mean it's gonna start raining or anything, I left my umbrella in the house." He smirks and settle back into the lounger, fairly confident Ororo won't be that mean, then looks over to Laura, "Say, I was actually wondering if we could talk at some point."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo comes wandering back outside, her job of delivering the bad news done, it was no longer her concern. She will worry, it is her nature, and it will always play at the back of her mind until she hears things have improved or that she is needed to make those things better. For now however...

Back out into the sun, she makes her way over to where the others have gathered, and looks over the fire James got going. "Someone should consider marshmallows." she offers absently as she watches the flames.

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar sits down companionably next to Talia and nods, "Survivors guilt, I get that, I think we all do. Why do I get to rest when they never did? Why do I get to have peace when they ddin't? It's not easy to live with. "You've got to hear the music but you don't have to dance." He stairs into the fire

Talia Wagner has posed:
Talia shifts a little bit and can't completely hide the body language that something is bothering her when James sits and talks with her about survivors guilt and all that.

Maybe he just hit way to close to home.

I mean honestly he hit incredibly too close to home.

She sits up and snags the water bottle from by her chair before rolling fully to her feet. "Survivors guilt is a hell of a thing." she says to James then to Jimmy "That might be fun."

She raises the bottle to Laura "I imagine Gabby can always use checking up on." teasing tones, then the blue elf girl is headed inside.

Laura Kinney has posed:
Laura Kinney glances over at Jimmy, then nods. "Before I leave I will notify you of a suitable dead drop location you can use to contact me," she offers casually as if this was how she expects everyone to contact her. Then she turns to Talia and adds "And yes... That would be an accurate assessment of the situation." Of course that might be ironic given she's close to a clone of Laura...

She sniffs the air.

"Outside of power related changes I don't smell rain coming."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo Munroe considers and looks over at Laura, "You will not smell it until tonight, though I did consider briefly making it rain on Jimmy." She glances now to Jimmy and offers a smile, then very slowly makes her way back to where she can stand barefoot in the grass, but still talk to people.

Jimmy Hudson has posed:
Jimmy Hudson nods to Laura, "Um, ok. I guess that works as well as any other method. Let me know." He looks from the retreating Talia to James and says quietly, "May have hit a little close on that one."

A look over to Ororo with a raised eyebrow, "I see, you just like seeing all the guys wet, huh? Remind me to file a complaint with HR at some point."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
A devious little smile creeps onto Ororo's face as she looks at Jimmy, "Everything is better wet, or so I have read." She comments, then goes about her little walk in the grass with a playful smile.

James Proudstar has posed:
James Proudstar watches Tallia go with a slow nod, he tilts his head and wonders what it could have been. HIs voice is quiet, "I was trying to help."
