Synopsis: SHIELD was going dark. It meant it was time for farewells. But if anything Matt and Daisy were used to this life.
Cast of Characters: Matthew Murdock, Daisy Johnson

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"Maaat," Karen called from the reception area. Matt didn't need his super senses to hear the concern verging on fear in her voice. Rising from his desk Matt comes out of his office. "What's wrong?"

He could sense Foggy and Karen standing at Karen's desk looking at her laptop he could hear the news report being played, something about SHIELD...

Foggy looks over, "Matt, Daisy was on there, they're saying she helped rob some vault in Saudi Arabia..." he says.

Karen looks over too, "It's not true though, is it? They say they're closing down SHIELD and arresting agents on sight."

But by the time the words are out of her mouth Matt is gone, the door to the office closing behind him.

A short time later he's back at his apartment, having fired off a half-dozen texts to Daisy desperate to know if she's okay.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Protocol meant any personal messages wouldn't be sent, no matter how desperate she was about letting Matt know she was fine. But the Daisy of today was not the one that let herself be led fully by emotion. She only let herself be led around 75% of the time by it. So the phone had been discarded, the chip broken. Any calls or messages would had hit a disconnected number.

SHIELD was going dark. It certainly was no drill.

Lots of emotions were running on Daisy. The disbelief, the anger. She hadn't been caught fully by surprise though. Not after what she had learned about Hydra and how deep they were in so many things. They were inside SHIELD in one way or another and they had used their influence to do this. Yet it didn't mean they were out of the fight. Noone was throwing the towel.

And that fueled her purpose.

Having escaped the SWORDFISH along with Lance she had been dropped off in Hell's Kitchen after. Farewells given. She'd try to rendezvous with people later. But she couldn't just leave like that. So making her way to the apartment she wandered up through the fire escape. The alternative route. She was careful, using her powers to sense for other forms within, but with noticing only Matt she sends him a slight vibrational *push*. She knows he will 'hear' it.

She was standing up on the rooftop, right outside.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
More messages keep being sent to the dead phone as Matt paces about the room phone in hand, dictating text after text until that little push comes and Matt tosses the phone down and leaps to grab hold of the railing at the upper portion of the stairs and pull himself up. A moment, later he's stepping through the door onto the roof. "Daisy," he says when he senses her fully the relief in her voice palpable.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Hey..." Daisy was standing up there on the rooftop, hands in her pockets, beanie hat on her head and jacket over her shoulders. There was .., quite the maelstrom of emotions inside Daisy now. Reminding her of the time she had to leave Matt because she was being hunted by SHIELD. Still, when he appears up there on the roof with her she quickly closes the distance between them, throwing arms around the man.

"Sorry I didn't call." The woman says against his chest, feeding from his warmth.

"My face is everywhere now, I couldn't risk endangering you." she lets out a sigh. "How bad is it on the news?" she asks, not having followed it fully while she was evading arrest.

She lets herself relax just so, even if it's clear she is all BUT relaxed. A temporary fix while she is there with Matt.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"Hey," Matt replies, attention fixed on her and in the moment at a loss for things to say, though when she comes to him and wraps her arms around him he does the same in return holding her close. "I get it." he tells her without a moment's thought or any hint of recrimination. "I didn't stay and watch but from how Karen and Foggy were reacting, pretty bad," he says wishing he had better things to report. "What are you going to do and what can I do to help?"

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Yea..." Daisy grimaces a bit at that. "It was a very ..., public declaration." by the president himself no less, and SecDef. She lets out a brief sigh. "And that little venture on Saudi Arabia when I lost my powers? Seem they got footage of that.." yay for having her face on the news! Once again! But now it wasn't even as Quake...

"Lets go inside." The young agent says, casting a look around the top of the buildings before moving in with Matt. She had preparations to do. "I need to get a few things." she did have a bag tucked in just for something like this. As for helping.. "Right now it would be best if you kept distance from us." She murmurs, wincing. "There will most likely people coming around after that little spread of news about you being associated with SHIELD." damn it Telford!

"So ..." And she lets out a sigh. ".. for the public eye it's best people think we grew apart..." not something she was fond at *all* of doing.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"That SecDef seemed to enjoy saying what he was saying, guessing he's not SHIELD's biggest fan," Matt remarks before nodding, kissing the top of her head and then joining her in going inside.

He nods about keeping his distance, he didn't like it, that much was plain, but he understood the need. "Though if you guys need anything done that can't get traced back to you, Daredevil is around," he says.

He nods about Telford, he hadn't thought of that. "Well, we can't control what people put on fliers we didn't ask them to print, but yeah, I expect this task force will be stopping by to check us out."

He leads her down to the main floor, pausing as she says it will be nessisary for them to be apart. "As long as it's just for show, whatever happens Daisy, I'm still with you," he says facing her, fingers brushing gently against the line of her jaw. "And I'm going to miss you like hell."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"I don't like leaving right now though.." Daisy murmurs quietly. "Not when there's that threat on you too.." the doppelganger. But typical Daisy, never caring too much about her well being and instead focusing on Matt, "I will take my suit too." Aftershock. "So .., I should be able to *be* out a bit more. It won't be all so bad.." yet considering how her heart was hammering now it was clear she was taking this Hydra threat *very* seriously. And was worried.

"And we can still meet.." She says, reaching up to run fingertips over the man's jaw. "We are used to meeting like this afterall.." she forces a little grin up to her lips. Though it was true, they were used to meeting while being hunted by government agencies. It was just going back a few years!

"I am sorry to have brought you into this. I thought .., I could separate things more. But that's not who we are, is it? I am Daisy, and Quake, and a SHIELD agent, I can't separate those parts of me." she resting one hand against the man's chest, "The same way you can't separate the Matt Murdock from Daredevil." she exhales softly.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"I know, but Elektra said she'd help and I'll let the Defenders know what's going on with my Doppleganger. I'll be okay."

He can feel how her heart pounds and practically feel her fear and worry like it was his own. "Good idea," he says of the costume," before putting on a smile. "We better," he says of still meeting, before it becomes a little bit more real, and fond. "It'll be like old times," he says.

"I'm not," he says of her bringing all of this on him. "You're worth it Daisy, and you didn't do anything wrong, you were you, doing the things you were supposed to be doing as a SHIELD agent, not your fault the government is trying to shut down SHIELD."

He leans in then to kiss her, it's brief but he lingers close by when their lips have parted his head resting on hers, "And I wouldn't want you too, I love all those parts, because they're all parts of you. You never have to be anything else with me Daisy. We know each other too well," that last is said with a fond smile at the all the years of memories they shared.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Elektra, eh?

That didn't make Daisy feel any better. She was still unsure about *that* woman. "I hope you will..." she worried, but she also knew if anyone could handle that doppel it'd be Matt. And he had what perhaps the other didn't. Support from friends and the Defenders.

"The old times were good in a way.." Oh yes, some thoughts return to her mind and she finds herself grinning just a bit. But then she 'thwaps' him on the chest a little. "I need to focus." because it was clear it was him distracting her, and not her thoughts! Nope, not at all!

She reaches up to place a kiss on the man's lips after his reassuring words, squeezing his hand and leading him over to the bedroom where she had her bag stashed out, "It's not the .., government. It's complicated." she says, "Hydra has breached SHIELD. It has a long reach, longer than we expected. But we had been looking into it before it all .., happened. We probably stirred the wrong snake's nest. Or the right one depending on the perspective."

Now on the bedroom she hops up to the highest cabinet on their drawer, taking out a bag and opening it. "It's time to go back to being Mary Sue Poots..." she announces, "I still got that ID, it will serve.." damn you Sisters for naming her like that.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt can sense Daisy's trepidation. "You don't have to worry about Elektra, I trust her, and besides, I'm with you," he says trying to cover both bases when it comes to Elektra. Either that she might stab him or that he might find his feelings for her hadn't faded.

He does smile though as she swats his chest. "What? I didn't say anything!" he laughs before kissing her again. "Though, those were some good times... Since you brought it up."

Matt follows her into the bedroom nodding. "So HYDRA is in the government? That explains some of the recent things coming out of Washington," the anti-mutant stuff comes to mind, as does something else. He opens a drawer and pulls out a thick stack of his buiness cards offering them to Daisy. "For your friends if they get caught, not sure if the government is going to respect your right and give you a call and a lawyer but if they do, your friends can call me."

Then there's a smile as he mentions her old name. "I am surprised you've still got that ID. I'd have burned it if it was me."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"She doesn't have the best of track records on being fair with people who trust her." Daisy had heard some stories from Matt afterall! But .., if anything she trust Matt, so she smiles at him and places one hand on his shoulder as if to tell him it's fine.

"I am not hearing you right now and I brought *nothing* up." Nope, nothing at all. But she is grinning at least, a bit more relaxed after all the tension going on with her crazy life and SHIELD. But if anything she didn't want thse moments to be spent in tension. With the bag now on the bed she is sorting through it, ID documents, some money, a gun. Standard spy fare. But most importantly, a fully scrubbed laptop and a few more tech pieces. All off SHIELD's radar. Her old hacker stuff. She pats them fondly.

She takes the cards, placing them inside her pack. "Thank you. I will spread the word." she says, "It's best you don't know where I will be staying, but don't worry, it will be with people I trust. That family I like to brag so much about." a grin. "You have met a few of them." Bobbi, May, FitzSimmons and Peggy. Just to name a few. "And yes, they are in the government. And in SHIELD. And .., who knows what else. They were behind the attack on Afterlife too. Doctor List." she frowns. "A researcher for Pacifica."

She takes out that old ID, "Of course I still got it. Skye was burned when I was caught by shield. This one.., this was for a rainy day. Like now. And it will skip detection since .., it's pretty real." nothing like deceiving others with the truth!

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"True," Matt allows regarding Elektra. "I know to watch my back with Elektra, she can be a pain in the ass sometimes but she's good enough to beat me and that means she should be a match for my double as well and the two of us?" he lets that trail off the math speaks for itself, he and Elektra have a good chance of beating the other him.

"I get it," he says of needing to keep him in the dark. "Also, so I don't have to perjure myself if it comes up... as your lawyer, your best course of action is turn yourself in and deal with this in the court of law," he says, with a wry smile. "There, that's out of the way, if anyone asks if I've been in contact I can tell them we've met and I tried to convince you to turn yourself in, too bad I did a shitty job of it."

As for List and HYDRA. "You guys going to go after him still?" he asks about List, not worried so much as wanting to see the man see justice for his attack on Afterlife.

Then remembering something he turns back to his dresser and opens the narrow top drawer feeling about for something, finding a small box he opens it and produces a silver medallion on a silver chain. It was one she might remember from their time at St. Agnes.

Turning back he holds it out to her, "Saint Jude medal," he says. "Sister Maggie gave it to me one year on my birthday, I think it was meant to be a bit of a joke," he smiles. After all Saint Jude was the patron saint of lost causes. "Figured you and your friends could use all the help you can get right now."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Alright lawyer. Thank you for the advice." A beat, "I will make sure to leave a pie by your door, mmm?" See? Jokes! It's also lawyer jokes week so it fits. One more notch on the calendar. "And yea, tell them when you spoke of your astronomic fees I ran out the door or something..." she finishes putting her 'new' ID inside her jacket.

"Yea, we are going after him. One way or another." And considering her tone, it would be sooner rather than later, "He is involved in all this. If we want to figure out how we were framed we will need to find these people, follow the threads, the links." basically, do spy work. While being hunted by everyone. Easy!

She peeks up curiously when Matt goes to search his dresser. She quirks a brow at that. That was a part of his life she didn't know yet. "Really? She gave you that?" how .., interesting. "And so you are transferring it to the lost cause that is SHIELD..." but she is smiling fondly. She gets up to her feet, moving closer and wrapping her hand around Matt's where the medallion is. "Thank you, I will take good care of it." a kiss placed on his jaw. "And make sure to return it." that last part said as a promise.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt laughs, "God, I'm going to miss you," he says, a beat. "Even with the jokes," he says attention fully on Daisy right now, he leans in to steal a quick kiss before the topic moves on.

"Good, he deserves to be brought to justice," he says of List. "And that's the way to do it, everyone leaves a trail behind you just have to be patient and review every lead you can find. I hope you guys get him."

"Like I said, I think she was trying to make a point," Matt smiles, "Anyhow, he's supposed to help you out of a tough spot, so figured it fit in a different way today."

Matt smiles at the kiss on the jaw and gives over the medallion. "You'd better," he says of that promise the tease carrying hints of concern now, though all the same he leans in to return that kiss to the jaw with one of his own. "I love you," he tells her softly.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Sister Maggie.. mmmm." Daisy has been more and more curious about Sister Maggie ever since they went back to the Orphanage a while back. She was still trying to place her, and the relation she had with Matthew. But then she smiles, the thought vanishing. Her hand wraps over the medallion and she takes it, placing it around her neck and clasping it. She looks at the medallion a moment before slipping it under her shirt. "I will keep it close to the heart." literally!

"I love you too, Matt Murdock." The vibrations coming out of her showing that sincerity, the way in which she seems fully devoted to him. She reaches out with her arms for the man, bringing him close and closing her eyes, head resting on his shoulder. Goodbyes are hard and ..., she certainly doesn't want to let go.

She stays like that for a long while, just holding on. "I will leave you a number to page. In case there's an emergency."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt nods, before a smile comes to his lips "Still sticking to my story that I wasn't her favourite," he tells her despite the nun had apparently been giving him gifts. "Glad," he says. "I'd grab something from you but I've still got your old wool hat," he says of keepsakes. How long ago did it get left here? Four years?

When it comes to holding one another, Matt is in no hurry to let go, holding her rightly listening to Daisy's song, his own matching it so that to their senses they almost seem as one.

He kisses the top of her head, "Thanks," he says of the means to reach out. "And well you know how to reach me, you can call whenever you want and if you need my help, I'll be there," his words coming out quick like he was trying to say all he had to say to her in these scant few moments before they had to part.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Must have been eaten by moths already.." Daisy speaks about that hat with a brief smirk on her expression. "But you have all my stuff here so .., take good care of it. Consider it my keepsake." hold on the fort!

She finds herself relaxing on Matt's arms, letting their songs mingle and join together in that manner they knew how to do, intimate and close. And after her training at Afterlife that song felt sharper, more defined, nuanced and complex as if her whole self could be read there for those with the senses to detect it.

"I know." She then says about being able to call him at any time. She reluctantly dislodges herself from Matt and ...

"Oh, I almost forgot.." She walks over to her wardrobe, opening it and taking out her Aftershock costume. Might come in handy. She stuffs it away on a backpack.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt chuckles, "So my keepsake is cleaning up all your stuff?" he teases. "I'll make sure it's all here when you get back," he says. He listens to their song, enjoying the new depth and richness.

When she parts from him, he shakes his head as she grabs her almost forgotten costume, a little ha, of laughter escaping his lips. Though when the costume is put away he sets his hand on her shoulder and turns he to face him. There's no words, just a beat of tension before he kisses Daisy desperately, all his concerns and his love coming out without words.
