It's Avenger Time
Date of Scene: 17 March 2020
Location: Avengers Mansion - Front Yard
Synopsis: Faster than a speeding bullet, Power Girl pays Avengers Mansion a visit ...
Cast of Characters: Karen Starr, Tony Stark

Karen Starr has posed:
As yet, the Big Blue Boy Scout has yet to reappear. Karen, at this point, is beginning to think that events are playing out decidedly differently in this universe than in her own. She's not -entirely- sure he'll come back. This is something of a push, for her. She's the last (rational, sane, non-villainous) adult left. The Kara of this world is still young. She figures... As long as she can't get home, do what He would do.

It's why she introduced herself to what remains of the League. It's also why she's doing what she's doing now. Early warning systems register an object flying at fifty times the speed of sound, and telemetry data plots its course as... Avengers Mansion. Were it anything other than StarkTech, the communication speed and processing speed wouldn't be fast enough to register this... Approaching object before it arrived. As it is, the Mansion's occupants only have around ten seconds to react before it hits...

Which is why it's strange when it just -doesn't.- At a sensible height, this thing traveling at Plaid (Ludicrous is saved for outer-atmosphere and emergencies) drops down to something altogether human... And it's a blonde, slipping down from on-high as if it were the most casual of things.

She's even respectful enough that she lands at the end of the walkway, and not in the grass, and approaches the mansion front on foot.

Tony Stark has posed:
JARVIS and HOMER both hadn't given Tony a great deal of time to prepare. The other Avengers who frequented the mansion were away, either on a diplomatic mission to Asgard (Tony conspicuously absent) or doing whatever it is Avengers do on their days off. Tony himself had only stopped by the Mansion to look for ... someone ... when he was warned the whatever-it-is was on route. He'd activated an emergency suit stored in the Mansion, not his most recent model but enough to protect him from whatever impact was to come. So, as he stands in the hallway, clad in gold and red, he is startled to learn that the impact isn't coming.

As the unidentified flying woman moves up the path, Tony emerges from the door leading out onto a second floor balcony. The armor allows him to take to the air easily, and as she approaches the Mansion she will be confronted by the image of Iron Man hovering in the air above her. The golden faceplate of the helmet reflects the environment impassively, though Tony's own eyes flash from within through two rectangular eyeholes.

<Can I help you?> he asks, voice modulated by the suit's external speaker, <Get you something? Coffee? Tea? A bit of cloth about yea big?>

He holds out his gauntlet hands as he lands on the path before her, making an oval shape with them.

Karen Starr has posed:
Power Girl had stopped flying, so honestly, the rudest part of this is more the fact that Tony is flying, rather than the comment. Either way, the comment doesn't garner much levity, either. The expression she offers is nonplussed, for certain, and it doesn't get a whole lot better. "Have to power through." she thinks, "It's what he would do. Just keep telling yourself that."

Clearing her throat, she placed one hand on her hip. "I go by Power Girl. I'm from Metropolis, but I'm... Branching out, on account of the fact that Superman is... Gone. I think the world needs it, so, no, you can't help me. But I can help you."

Tony Stark has posed:
Iron Man has landed on the path now, and an idle wave of his hand compels turrets emerging from the lawn to power down and sink back into their concealment. The implacable faceplate regards Power Girl for a moment longer before it clatters away, retreating into the collar of the suit to reveal Tony's face. The look on his face is a critical one. A lot of people have joined the Avengers in a lot of strange ways, but rarely is it a case of just walking up to the front door.

"Huh," he says, tilting his head back as he continues that analytical stare, "I'm gonna admit I've been keeping track of you. Not a lot of people with that particular suite of abilities, and every one of them warrants a close eye."

A beat.

"It's nice to put a name to the face, though. Thanks for not crashing into the house."

Karen Starr has posed:
It probably dawns then just how tall this one is. Do they all get so tall? Well, either way, she definitely fits the make and model of a Kryptonian. Limitless strength. Invulnerability. Speed. The watching he's been doing even tell him that she's been less hesitant with the horrifying eye-lasers. Warrants watching indeed.

"Yeah, that's what you've been doing." she states, but all the same, the hand that had been on her hip comes up and extends for a shake. She's polite, or more polite than the news stories would lead one to believe. She's supposed to be angrier than the famous one.

"I know you guys have a thing going here. I also know that sometimes no matter how big you are, there's just something bigger going on. Doesn't mean that we can't try and get all the guns in one place. So we can point them where they ought to be, when they ought to be. Make sense?"

Tony Stark has posed:
Tony knows how to gladhand with the best of them, and when the hand is offered, he extends his own gauntlet to shake it. If he's sizing this Power Girl up, he makes no show of it anymore. He's all charming half-smile and laissez-faire attitude in a multi-billion-dollar suit of armor.

"You want to move in?" he asks, glancing back over his shoulder towards the Mansion, "We could probably squeeze you in. The chef had a hard enough time figuring out how exactly to feed a genuine Asgardian, though, so if you don't like that or a steak and fries you might need to order in."

He relaxes a little and comes out of his shell quiet literally. The suit he wears peels away at the front, revealing the man himself. He wears a blazer and jeans over a t-shirt bearing a stylized spider and the words 'BLACK WIDOW' in threatening red font. Avengers merchandise that has been selling extremely well lately. The suit seals up behind him and then walks robotically back towards the mansion without fanfare.

"But, no, I get what you're saying. Diana had a similar idea. After the League went," he pauses, searching for the word before shrugging, "Well, after it went, there was a void to fill. We filled it. People like you? If you want to help? You're welcome. I know enough about you to know I want you batting for our side when the shit hits the fan."

Karen Starr has posed:
Karen has enough sense not to stress the armor. Whether it can stand her grip strength is something that doesn't need to be tested without Tony's outright invitation, or at the very least provocation.

There's a roll of her eyes, though, and she responds rather quickly. "No, I've got my own place. Besides, the foundations couldn't handle my weights." That... Might not be an inaccurate claim, but exactly -how- is probably an important question.

There's a nod of recognition that comes next at the mention of Diana. Karen hasn't met her. "Yeah. After it went- but it's not gone forever. The Lantern's keeping the lamp lit as best he can. There are others, or there will be." A short, pensive sigh. Her arms fold- and that's not fair. She shouldn't be allowed to do that. "I'll be on your side. Question is whether or not I have to hear the news over the communicator, or keep an eye out from Saturn when I'm doing some research."

Can she do that? She can't possibly do that. Maybe.

Tony Stark has posed:
"We've got JARVIS for that," Tony says on the subject of communicators, "He's pretty much connected to all of us in one way or another. Saturn, though? Maybe a skosh outside his range. Now, if you're going to be flying out there anyway and want to drop off a satellite or seven, then we can see about getting the word to you when you're, uh, 'out of town'."

"There's not really a formal process here. I'll probably need to loop Cap in, and he'll probably want to get together and have everyone meet you first. It doesn't seem like that'd be a bother to you. After that it's just a matter of putting your name on the list at the door and we go from there. You get as much or as little say in things as you want."

The subject of the League and its status is glossed over. Whether or not Tony would like to see it resurgent doesn't seem to matter - it's in disarray at the moment and the Avengers are doing what they need to do in order to keep the world safe.

"Do you have another name?" he asks suddenly, tilting his head back to look up at her curiously, "Presumably your parents were Mr. and Mrs. Girl. We don't do the whole secret identity thing so well here. Not that you can't, but the publicity makes it tough."

Karen Starr has posed:
Impassively, Karen offers a minor shrug. "Sure." she responds, "Could probably throw a few communications satellites into orbit around the more interesting bodies in our solar system." So very... Casual about it. As if she could do it in an afternoon without even having to cancel any plans.

"There isn't really a formal process anywhere. Tell you what," she states, slipping her hands from their cross and setting both on her hips. A cocky smirk crosses her features. "When you're ready for me, just say so. I'll be by sooner than you'd think." she states, and starts to raise up into the air- before that last question leaves Tony's lips.

The first response is a shake of her head. "Nope. I'll handle the publicity. You'd be surprised how hard it is for them to keep up."

With that, unless Tony has other plans, Karen will keep pulling up into the sky. Presumably, with the speed she was showing before, he doesn't have long to stop her.

Tony Stark has posed:
Tony doesn't say anything further. He knows when a conversation is over, and nothing erodes authority like shouting questions to someone as they fly away. So, he simply nods his head, taking it all on board. There'll be more to this, he's sure, but for now he's content that the feelers have been put out and there may be a genuine Superman-type (they must have a name, he'll have to ask) coming to bat for the Avengers should they need her.

As Power Girl departs, however, he quickly pulls his phone from his blazer pocket and turns his back to her. He tilts it upwards, capturing a selfie of himself and the departing Kryptonian quickly. There's a cursory glance over his shoulder to watch her go, and then he begins to move back towards the house. His phone in his hands, his thumbs work swiftly to fire off the imagine along with a little text caption to a certain fellow Avenger.

'We had visitors whilst thou wereth lording it up in yon Thor-land.'
